Miami Watch Company is paying tribute to the Japanese traditional blade forging aircraft by presenting the Katana Knife & Watch Collection.
Traditionally crafted Japanese knifes are renowned across the world and notable among these is the “Damascus” steel knife, made after a laborious process of folding, heating, and hammering the steel upon itself thousands of times. Miami Watch Company re-invents the sacred art-craft traditions with a modern twist by presenting the Katana Collection offering timepieces with matching knifes crafted from Damascus steel.
The Strangr Katana Collection is a 4-model series named in homage to the Tenka-Goken, or the “Heavenly Samurai Swords”: Dojigiri (童子切), Onimaru (鬼丸), Mikazuki (三日月), Juzumaru (数珠丸).
The Strangr Katana watch comes in a 316L grade surgical steel case topped with Damascus steel bezel and domed Sapphire Crystal glass with Antireflective coating. The watch features triple layer Skeleton dial with “sandwich” style dial rings and diamond cut hands triple filled with SuperLuminova.
The Katana watch is powered with a self-winding automatic 8N24 skeleton movement with custom engraved oscillating weight. Manufactured in Japan, the Miyota 8N24 movement bears 21 jewels, beats at 21,600 vph and delivers power reserve of 42 hours.
The watch is fitted with custom screw down crown with embossed samurai sword icon and sapphire crystal case back. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters.
The set also comes with Katana blade made of 77 layers of hand forged Damascus steel.
It has a G10 organic handle, which is essential for proper knife handle functioning. G10 is a high-pressure fiberglass laminate, a sort of composite material.
