Victorinox Swiss Army Maverick Sport 2014 Edition
Maverick Sport has a very strong and sporty character, built on subtle contrasts. In 2014, the collection is enriched with eight new models: four three handed watches and four chronographs, all with original detailing on their dials. The three colours, red, blue and yellow, are a nod to the flag of the town of Ibach, where Victorinox is headquartered. The same signature is on the complementary strap in NATO fabric that supplements the original black one. All are powered by Swiss Made Ronda quartz movements.
Maverick Sport is built for action. The design is very distinctive: whether the classic three handed watch or the chronograph, it immediately asserts its sporty character through an aesthetically pleasing play of contrasts. The polished and brushed 43 mm stainless steel case with polished angles, common to both models, is demonstratively robust, a quality further enhanced by the graphic crown guard. The dial in silver or black and surrounded by a black unidirectional rotating bezel, with oversized hour numbers for easier reading, is equally uncompromising.
Every detail on the dial bears the signature of the house: the flange displays military time, and the blue hour hand is generously covered with luminescent material, as is the minute hand. catching red adorns the second hand, the Victorinox shield at 12 o’clock, and the hands on the two chronograph counters. The date window – at 3’o clock on the watch versions and 6’o clock on the chronograph – is highlighted with a thin yellow line.
Red, blue and yellow are the three colours on the flag of the municipality of Ibach, the company was founded in 1884 and where Victorinox is still headquartered today. The tricolour signature is repeated the NATO fabric strap; though, of course, both watch and chronograph models are also available with a metal bracelet in brushed steel.
