Humism: Automatic Watches Inspired by Kinetic Art
Singapore based design studio Humism has launched a new online crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter for promoting its new 42mm automatic watches inspired by the Kinetic Art movement.
Humism was founded in 2017. The brand launched its first kinetic art inspired watch collection in 2018 with the help of a Kickstarter campaign supported by more than 360 backers. Named Philosophies, the initial line-up was comprised of Eudaimonia, Geist and Dasein models featuring 39mm diameter case and Japanese NH35A automatic movement.
Humism conducted another successful KS funding campaign in 2019 attracting near about 300 backers. In the second project, the brand introduced new models like Kato, Rhizome, and Helios in 39mm stainless steel case with Calibre NH35A as well as new limited edition black DLC versions of Eudaimonia and Dasein.
In the third Kickstarter campaign launched this year, Humism is offering new 42mm diameter automatic watches in stainless steel.
The models available are Hwan, Eidos, Kato and Rhizome. The movement remains the same, the Seiko SII NH35A Calibre.
The first 555 watches backed in the new campaign will be limited ‘Founders Editions.’ Provided with a special signed Founders Edition Certificate of Authenticity, these watches will only be available on Kickstarter.
Made from 316L surgical steel, the 42mm diameter case in brushed finish houses a curved sector dial that hosts the kinetic art inspired timekeeping display.
These watches come with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glasses on both sides. Both thin and light-weight, the kinetic art discs are crafted with a proprietary Japanese technology for ensuring durability.
The case-back is screw-on type and provides the visuals of the automatic movement through the sapphire glass. Water-resistant up to 50 meters, the watch has a thickness of 11.9mm, lug to lug of 48.5mm, and lug width of 20mm.
Each timepiece will be fitted on a vegetable-tanned leather strap with stainless steel buckle and quick-release pins.
Launched on 10th October 2023, the new Kickstarter campaign will be active until 9th November. The pledges start at S$ 445 (approximately 325 US dollars), with an estimated delivery in December this year.
