Based in New York City, young watch brand Baron Mauer presents their debut model, the Calaway Ref. 2659, an exceptional mechanical wristwatch equipped with a state-of-the-art hand-wound movement made in Switzerland. The Calaway Ref. 2659 is a classically styled modern dress watch highlighted with sharp and focused features. This mechanical timepiece comes dressed in a solid stainless steel (316L) case measuring 39mm diameter and 10mm thickness. Lug to lug width is 49mm.

This ultra-slim mechanical watch with ergonomic and seamless design ensures optimal comfort while wearing. Reliability of the watch has been ensured by the careful selection of materials and components incorporated in its construction. The watch also boasts an extremely pleasing aesthetic thanks to various design features and finishing techniques employed by Baron Mauer.

Taking cues from the military watches of the  vintage era, the Calaway Ref. 2659 watch successfully allies classicism with modern design principles, ensuring a refined look. The watch is born after two years of design, development and prototyping.

Crafted from high grade 316L stainless steel with low carbon content, the watch case is finished with linear and circular brushing with contrasting polished surfaces.

The alternately finished exterior – flat brushed bezel and contrasting matte brushed and mirror polished surfaces – enhances the aesthetic appeal of this fine mechanical watch. The watch is also available in a yellow-gold PVD variation.

Protecting the watch from the front side  is a subtly double domed sapphire crystal glass treated with an Anti-reflective coating ensuring the optimal visibility to the dial display. A major stand-out feature of the Calaway’s case design is its lug chamfers which ensure firmness and a strong wrist presence. A screwed stainless steel case back protects the watch on the rear side. Water resistance of the watch is approximately 50 meters.

Justifying the elegance of a meticulously crafted and finely finished case, the watch incorporates a simple and minimalistic dial ensuring eye-pleasing aesthetics with easy reading of time display.

Available in carbon black or white versions, the micro-sand blasted finished dial features polished raised hour marker indices and dauphine hands for hour and minute display. The watch does not feature second hands to make the dial even simpler and clutter free. To ensure night time legibility the watch employs blue super-LumiNova on hands and hour marker dots.

Beating inside this elegant wristwatch is a contemporary mechanical hand-wound caliber manufactured by the world renowned movement manufacturer Sellita.

Designed to handle the challenging demands of the modern world, the Swiss Made Sellita SW 210-1 caliber is a hand-wound, 11.5 ligne mechanical movement equipped with the Incabloc shock system. Bearing 19 jewels and beats at 28,800 vph, this manual winding caliber ensures 42 hr power reserve once it is fully wound. The push-pull crown at 3 o’ clock can be used to wind the movement.

The Calaway Ref. 2659 watch is worn on a strap of Italian calfskin leather with crème colored stitching or top-grain Saffiano leather .
