At Baselworld 2010, Rolex introduced a new Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date steel version with new features.
Rolex Submariner, the quintessential divers’ watch, has expanded its horizons far beyond the element of its birth in 1953, while denying nothing of its aquatic origins. Waterproof to 100, 200, then 300 metres as it successively evolved since its launch, the Submariner has always been the symbol of Rolex’s supremacy in water-proofness.
Since 2008, a new version of the Submariner, with a subtly redesigned case, has been perpetuating the legend. The 18K Yellow gold (reference 116618) and white gold (reference 116619) Submariner Date models were presented by Rolex at Baselworld 2008. In 2009, the Rolex Yellow Rolesor Submariner Date (reference 116613) was presented.
Timeless and impervious to the elements, the Submariner Date is now available in a steel version sporting new features. Its 40 mm case in 904L steel, synonymous with robustness, water-proofness and corrosion resistance, boasts a new rotatable bezel fitted with a practically scratch-proof black Cerachrom insert — or green for the model with the green dial — with platinum graduations.
Even in dark conditions, the new Submariner Date offers exceptional legibility thanks to hour markers and hands coated with luminescent Chromalight. Its self-winding mechanical movement (Calibre 3135) is equipped with a Perpetual rotor and a Parachrom hairspring, ensuring increased chronometric precision and reliability.
Its unidirectional rotatable graduated bezel allows the safe reading of dive time. Its stainless steel bracelet is equipped with the Rolex Glidelock clasp, which ensures fine adjustments of the bracelet length.
The new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date watch in 904L Steel is available in two versions: Reference 116610 LN-0001 with a black dial and black Cerachrom bezel-insert and Reference 116610 LV-0002 with green dial and green Cerachrom bezel-insert.
