ATELIER JALAPER AJ-P400: Tribute to Lamborghini MIURA
After the successful launch of its debut collection (AJ001 & AJ002) inspired by the ASTON MARTIN DB5, ATELIER JALAPER presents AJ-P400, a new watch designed after the legendary Lamborghini MIURA.
Introduced in 1966, Lamborghini MIURA is the world’s first supercar. It is also one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
Louis JALABER and Simon SZLEPER (co-founders of ATELIER JALAPER) took inspiration from this automotive icon to create their second timepiece, AJ-P400.
The design of AJ-P400’ case is directly inspired by the simple and sensual curves of the MIURA. Moreover, its proportions have been worked in the same spirit as those of the car.
Made of aluminium metal sourced from a historic Lamborghini Miura P400 S, the dial evokes the iconic speedometers.
Its indexes of different sizes and its revolution on 270° leave a free space at 6 o’clock in which the power reserve is perfectly integrated, also inspired by the hand counters of the time but also the dashboard.
The watch boasts a unique personality thanks to the shape of its hornless case, a rarity but also a technical feat. The bezel is oval in shape reminiscent of the legendary MIURA eyelash lighthouse, a perfect circle nestled in an elliptical orbit.
Secured with four-screws, the stainless steel case back has a transparent smoked glass window in reference to the legendary “incendiary disease” of the Miura.
The ATELIER JALAPER AJ-P400 is available in four variations referring to the color variants of the Miura: the Verde Scandal, Azzurro Mexico, Arancio Miura and the Nero Cangiante. Each version is limited to 400 pieces.
These Swiss made hand-wound watches house the Caliber Sellita SW270 1 M, which drives regular time display with three central hands, power reserve and date functions.
Visible through the smoked grey mineral glass case-back, this movement provides an approximate power reserve of 45 hours.
