AVI-8 has released the highly anticipated Dambuster 617 Squadron 80th Anniversary Dual Time Chronograph Limited Edition.
This exclusive timepiece pays homage to the historic Dambusters Raid and commemorates the 80th anniversary of Operation Chastise, a seminal feat of daring featuring the Avro Lancaster Bomber and some of WW2 bravest airmen.
AVI-8 has also partnered with the esteemed 617 Squadron Association, and 5% of net sales from this launch will be donated to support their valuable work.
The Dambusters Raid, also known as Operation Chastise, holds a significant place in the annals of aviation history.
Executed by the Royal Air Force 617 Squadron during World War II, this audacious mission aimed to target dams in the Ruhr Valley, Germany, using the ingenious bouncing bomb technique. Led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson, the squadron’s skilled pilots displayed unparalleled bravery and precision as they navigated through a web of obstacles to carry out their vital mission.
This exquisite timepiece collection pays tribute to the heroic acts of the 617 Squadron and the technical brilliance of Operation Chastise with its impeccable design and exceptional craftsmanship.
With a case width of 43mm and a case length of 51.5mm, this timepiece is water-resistant up to 5 ATM.
The watch houses the reliable Miyota FS26 Japanese quartz dual-time chronograph movement, providing precise and accurate timekeeping.
The stainless-steel case, debossed crown, and screw-back caseback with circular brushing add to the watch’s robust construction. The mineral lens and the multilayered dial with large luminous hour-markers and hands offer exceptional visibility, even in low-light conditions.
The dials replicate the Lancaster pilot’s instruments, including the Artificial Horizon, Altimeter and the Air Speed Indicator. The second hand is inspired by the red lightning bolts from the Squadron’s crest.
Engraved on the case back is the 80th anniversary logo incorporating the 617 Squadron memorial at Woodhall Spa.
The Dambuster 617 watch is available in three versions: JET BLACK, CAMO and NAVY BLUE.
