HERO-ERA, the world-renowned organizer of classic rallies, has partnered with a Swiss watch company to create a limited edition wristwatch.
HERO-ERA was formed in 2018 when the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO) took over all the events organised by the Endurance Rally Association (ERA). This year, the group presents a wrist watch collection made in partnership with Alatron SA in La Chaux de Fonds, a major centre of traditional watchmaking in Switzerland.
This luxurious, hand-made Swiss time-piece was meticulously engineered and constructed by famed Horologists Alatron, official supplier of the most prestigious brands of the watch industry.
The HERO-ERA wrist-watch represents the perfect instrument for those obsessed with time, as all rally competitors are. The stylish and sturdy case, crafted from the highest grade stainless-steel incorporates a unique circle within a square design.
The case measures 44 mm diameter with 33.5 mm diameter dial opening and 41mm diameter bezel. The quadrangular, strikingly bevelled main case is crowned with a two-tone aluminium top bezel, representing the transitions between night and day across 24 hours.
Total four versions of HERO-ERA wrist-watch are available: Version A features black PVD coated stainless steel case with black dial, green bezel and black crocodile style leather strap. The next two versions feature stainless steel case, black dial, bi-colour (black/silver) bezel and racing type leather straps in black (Ver. B) or brown (Ver. C). Finally, the Version D comes with a stainless steel case, white dial, bi-colour (black/silver) bezel and black crocodile style leather strap.
The watch is powered by the Soprod C125 GMT automatic movement. Equipped with bidirectional rotor system, Quick GMT and date setting mechanisms, this movement can deliver a power reserve up to 42 hours when fully wound.
The face of the watch highlights elegant and classic design features. It hosts a clean and legible dial. With its massive brass hands, traditionally placed date dial and Super LumiNova indicators, the wrist-watch can be read easily, day and night.
The arrow hand denotes Greenwich Mean Time, a useful function that allows the wearer to find the second time-zone while travelling across the world. In the version A, the GMT hand is in green whereas the other three versions feature a red GMT hand.
The dial also proudly displays the logos of the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (HERO) and the Endurance Rally Association (ERA). On the front side, the watch is protected with a hard, scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass.
The rear of this wrist-watch is fitted with a mineral glass case-back that reveals exquisite workings of the fine SOPROD movement that beats inside.
This mechanical piece of precision engineering was designed with the historic motorist in mind. The watch is supplied with a leather travelling pouch.
The first 200 watches will be number stamped and inscribed, and be delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
There will also be a charitable donation of £100 per sale, distributed through HERO’s HERO2HELP scheme, building on the £14,000 so far raised that has benefitted charities fighting the fallout of Covid-19.
