Jaermann & Stübi Hole in One

This year, Swiss watch brand Jaermann & Stübi, as the official timekeeper of St Andrews Links and specialist for premium mechanical golf watches, is launching the new “Hole in One” model with a new display for the number of strokes per hole. This model, equipped with the patented golf counter complication, has an integrated shock absorber like all Jaermann & Stübi watches and is available in new material combinations.

Jaermann & Stübi developed the “Hole in One” series to simplify readability in their successful golf watch collection with the patented golf counter complication. The display of the number of strokes per hole is shown in a large window and is facilitated by a disk beneath the dial. This window was also the inspiration for the name of the model, as of course a hole-in one is a coveted goal for every golf player.

The total score is indicated by a central hand. A redesigned rotating bezel lets you compare the result of a round of golf with your handicap. The retrograde display at 6 o’clock shows you the current hole in play during a golf game. Like all Jaermann & Stübi watches, it is equipped with an integrated shock absorber.

Because a crown generally gets in the way when you’re playing golf, the pushers for the golf counter functions are located on the left side of the watch. The crown is mounted at the lower right, not in the center, so wrist flexion and extension are not impaired. Moreover, pushers on the right side of the watch would be covered by the glove worn on the left hand. In models with leather straps, the strap lining is made of moisture-repellent material to prevent premature aging of the strap.

The sporty elegance of the new model series is accentuated by the combination of different materials such as steel with PVD and PVD with gold. The rotating bezel is lined with the new hybrid ceramic.

Jaermann & Stübi is the official timekeeper of St Andrews Links and provides clocks and watches to the Home of Golf. Golf has been played in St Andrews since the 15th century, and the free use of the Links was mentioned for the first time in 1552 by Archbishop John Hamilton. The golf course is public and is managed by a foundation.

Since 1873, St Andrews Links has also been a venue for the British Open, which has been held here 28 times. The British Open is one of the major tournaments in golf; no golf course in the United Kingdom has hosted more British Opens than the Old Course at St Andrews Links.
