Seiko Brightz Solar Radio Watch with Dual Time Display
In 2007, Seiko expanded its Brightz collection by launching the world’s first analog solar radio clock with dual time display. The inaugural series was comprised of three regular production models (SAGA001, SAGA003 and SAGA003) and a limited edition model with reference SAGA007.
This solar-type radio-controlled watch receives different standard radio waves from three regions (4 stations) in Japan, Germany, and the United States and keeps accurate time. In addition, since 24 local times around the world can be displayed with a simple operation, it is possible to display the time in that area with the accuracy of a normal quartz clock even in areas (countries) that do not receive radio waves. This is a very convenient function for business people who are active all over the world.
It is the first analog radio-controlled clock in the world to have a “dual time display function” (a function that simultaneously displays the time in two regions with a time difference). The hour and minute hands in the center and the hour and minute hands on the subdial at 6 o’clock can display the time in two regions at the same time.
A fine radial pattern is applied to the center of the dial, and a fine concentric pattern like a groove on a record is applied to the outer periphery of the dial, realizing a high-quality texture. In addition, the sub dials at 6 o’clock and 10 o’clock are equipped with three-dimensional parts, providing high texture and visibility.
Normally, when the watch is subjected to strong impact or magnetism, the hands may shift and display the wrong time in rare cases. This model has automatic position correction function that corrects the hands to the correct position every minute for the second hand and every 12 hours for the hour and minute hands.
The movement used in the Seiko Brightz Solar Radio Dual Time watch is the 8B53 Solar Quartz caliber with radio wave correction function. When fully charged, it will be driven for about 9 months (when power is saved without receiving light, it will be driven for about 2 years from full charge).
This timepiece is compact in size while having a full range of functions, providing a comfortable fit. The case and band are made of Bright Titanium, a material that has a beautiful luster, lightweight, does not rust easily, and does not easily cause metal allergies. High visibility is achieved by sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating.
Seiko Brightz SAGA007 is a limited edition of just 300 pieces. Featuring a blue dial and bezel, this model in Bright titanium comes with crocodile replacement band and special limited edition box.
