Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea 44mm New Models (references 136660-0003 and 136660-0004)

Rolex has launched two new 44mm variants of its DEEPSEA professional diving watch from the SEA-DWELLER family. The new Rolex Deepsea 44mm reference 136660-0003 features a D-blue face where as the ref. 136660-0004 has a black dial.

The D-Blue dial was first appeared in the Rolex Deepsea Reference 116660B launched in 2014 to celebrate James Cameron’s historic solo dive in 2012.

Both timepieces are fitted with 60-minute graduated unidirectional rotating bezel topped with Cerachrom bezel insert in black ceramic and Oyster bracelet.

Water resistant to a depth of 3,900 metres (12,800 feet), the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea 44mm is a formidable timepiece dedicated to deep diving activities. It features the state-of-the-art Ringlock System case architecture with a Helium escape valve.

The massive Oystersteel case of the watch is reinforced with the patented Ringlock System, which ensures optimum waterproofness. It houses the Calibre 3235, a new-generation self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Equipped with the patented Chronergy escapement, it provides a power reserve of 70 hours.

The Rolex Deepsea watch displays the date at 3 o’clock, but without the signature Cyclops date window. The dial side is protected with a 5.5mm thick sapphire crystal glass.

The large Chromalight hour markers and hands with luminescent material emit a long-lasting blue glow, ensuring excellent readability of the indications. The new Rolex Oyster Perpetual Deepsea 44mm references come with Oyster type bracelet made of Oystersteel.

The Oyster bracelet comes with an Oysterlock clasp, which prevents accidental opening, and an ingenious Glidelock, allowing fine adjustments of the bracelet without using any tools.

Rolex Deepsea 136660 Vs 126660

The Rolex Deepsea watch was introduced in 2008 with the reference number 116660. Specially created for professional diving activities, it has a case diameter of 44mm.

In 2018, Rolex 44mm Deepsea Watch Ref. 126660 was launched to replace the reference 116660. This year, the brand has introduced the new 136660 series.

The case material and dimensions remain same for Ref. 126660 and Ref. 136660. The movement is also same: Calibre 3235. The visible differences that set apart the new Deepsea reference 136660 from its immediate predecessor are the narrower bezel design, slightly larger date window and the absence of the bracelet’s Fliplock extension link.
