NOMOS Glashütte neomatik series
German watch maker NOMOS Glashütte presents the neomatik series: two times five models in a completely new automatic collection. These watches are revolutionary: flat, elegant, and very accurate—cosmopolitan, cultivated, and contemporary too. The launch in fall begins with a 1st edition.
Some of the NOMOS neomatik models may appear familiar, while others are entirely new with Minimatik and Minimatik champagner leading the way. This is because each of the five core models—Tangente, Orion, Metro, Ludwig, and Minimatik comes in two versions: with cyan blue accents on a white silver-plated dial on one, and with fine details in neon orange on a champagne-colored dial on the other. What makes them special, aside from their slender elegance, their accuracy, are the rather wild colors applied to the dials in homeopathic doses—the latest coup from the NOMOS designers in Berlin.
The movement that powers these watches is the NOMOS caliber DUW 3001, the tenth in-house built NOMOS caliber, measures just 3.2 millimeters in height, and so is under half the size of the other automatic calibers that can be found in watches in this price range.
The reason: In contrast to all these calibers, almost all of which have been in production since the early 70s, DUW 3001 was developed using modern research and production methods. This enabled NOMOS Glashütte to halve tolerances, and significantly improve the efficiency and precision of this caliber.
Incidentally, the classic 35- or 36-millimeter diameter is being retained. By contrast, the neon accents on the dials and the particularly high-quality straps are new: Like those of the NOMOS gold watches, the straps of the neomatik series are also remborde and feature the in-house designed NOMOS buckle clasp. Furthermore, two of the ten watches are entirely new: Minimatik and Minimatik champagner.
The watches that NOMOS Glashütte produces and delivers in 2015 will count among the 1st edition of neomatik. After a short neomatik pause, the watchmaking company will then continue with the series over the course of 2016.
