Seiko Brightz Solar Radio Chronograph 49er Class Limited Edition 2010, Reference SAGA055

Seiko Watch Co., Ltd. presents a limited edition Seiko Brightz solar radio chronograph in collaboration with the International 49er Class Association.

This sporty solar radio watch with stopwatch function will be released on July 23 at a suggested retail price of 115,500 yen (110,000 yen excluding tax). Its reference number is SAGA055 and the production is limited to 490 pieces. It is the second collaboration model with the “International 49er Class Association”.

49er class (Forty Niner class) is a two-seater yacht racing event. It is called “49er class” from a boat with a total length of 4.99m. It is one of the most exciting competitions among yacht races. Seiko has been an official partner of the “International 49er Class Association” since 2007.

SAGA055 has some special features inspired by the 49er class yacht races. The dial and bezel are based on a glossy blue color, inspired by the world of the “49er class”.

The dial ring and the sub-dial at 6 o’clock are accented with a silver color reminiscent of the silver splashes of a fast-moving yacht, and the tachymeter bezel is decorated with italic Arabic numerals to create a sense of speed. Shaped after the mast of a yacht, the yellow green stopwatch second hand evokes the key color of the 49er class race.

The case back of the Brightz Solar Radio Chronograph 49er Class has a double logo with Seiko, which is a proof of the official partner of the “International 49er Class Association”, and the limited edition serial number (001 / 490 to 490/490). This timepiece will be supplied in a special box set with a spare calf leather strap in blue and with yellow-green stitching.

It receives Japanese standard radio waves that convey highly accurate time information with an error of only 1 second in 100,000 years and keeps accurate time. The solar-powered movement converts light such as sunlight and fluorescent lamps into electric energy and drives the watch.

Just like the regular production Brightz Solar Radio Chronographs (SAGA051 and SAGA053) released this year, this special edition model features chronograph, additional time-zone, automatic hand position correction and time difference correction functions. Moreover, it is magnetically resistant.
