Launched in 2007, the special edition Constellation Double Eagle Co-Axial Chronograph “OMEGA Mission Hills World Cup” celebrates the iconic Swiss watch brand’s status as the title sponsor of one of the oldest and most prestigious global golf team events.
Powered by OMEGA’s exclusive Calibre 3313 complete with a Co-Axial escapement, the self-winding Double Eagle Co-Axial Chronographs provide unparalleled performance for sportsmen who understand the value of precision matched with power.
Available in either 18-carat brushed red gold or titanium with a brushed finish, the case of the Double Eagle Co-Axial Chronograph is a bold combination of classic Constellation features and contemporary design strategies including the incorporation of black rubber.
True to its family heritage, these chronographs display the iconic asymmetric “claws” or “griffes” of the Constellation Line that were first introduced in 1982.
On the 18-carat red gold version, the bezel is lacquer-coated, while the crown and pushers are in brushed red gold. Red gold Roman numerals are surrounded by the glossy lacquer of the bezel making a daring design statement and the red gold crown displays the OMEGA logo.
On the titanium model, in keeping with the watch’s sporty appeal and in dramatic contrast to the sleek brushed finish of the case, the bezel, crown and pushers have been coated with black rubber. The bezel features steel Roman numerals and in the same way, the rubber coated crown displays the OMEGA logo, a technical achievement and a world premier.
In both models, the highly original dial, with its black carbon patterned texture is achieved through a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) treatment and provides a bold backdrop for the 12-hour and 30-minute sub-dials forming an eye-catching figure of eight. A third sub-dial, a discreet small seconds counter is found at 9 o’clock and a date window has been placed between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The hour markers, the OMEGA logo and hallmark Constellation Star have all been facetted and satin brushed for additional depth and dimension.
The Dauphine style hands are facetted and also satin brushed, truncated and perfectly visible in the dark thanks to Super-LumiNova inserts. For optimum daytime readings, even in the most compromising light conditions, the gently domed scratch-proof sapphire crystal protecting the dial has been given an anti-reflective treatment on both sides.
To mark its association with the world-class golfing event, OMEGA has etched the words “OMEGA Mission Hills World Cup” and the logo on the screw-in case back of both the titanium and red gold models of this special series.
The highly tactile aesthetics of these 41mm watches are achieved by contrasting surface finishes, a stunning carbon patterned dial and black rubber coated features making them a perfect ally for outdoor sports.
