Hermès Galop d’Hermès New Models

Introduced in 2019, the Galop d’Hermès watch revisits the equestrian codes of the Maison with its stirrup inspired curve and appears in a new small-sized gold or steel interpretation. Galop d’Hermès was born from the detailed observations of Californian designer Ini Archibong, who immersed himself in the Hermès Conservatory of Creations.

Closely bound up with the Mai son’s equestr ian reper toire, Galop d’Hermès morphs into a jewellery watch, lending its stirrup-like silhouette to three new Small Models (20 x 27.2 mm): one in non-gem set steel and two others in steel or rose gold adorned with 134 diamonds.

Its curved case with its softened angles frames a generous dial punctuated by variously sized Arabic numerals. These are larger on the lower part of the display, expressing a sense of movement and perspective.

Vividly evoking the speed and freedom of galloping, the progressive font – powdered and finely accentuated by touches of anthracite stands out against a sandblasted background, while the hands sweep gently over a smooth opalescent surface. In a final nod to the world of horses, the 8 o’clock numeral forms the shape of an inverted stirrup.

Hermès ARCEAU Toucan de Paradis Limited Edition

This new Hermès Arceau watch features a diamond-set round case with asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs. Its dial is adorned with a brightly coloured toucan, revealed by exceptional craftsmanship skills.

Hermès ARCEAU Toucan de Paradis Limited Edition

The tropical bird with its oversized and colourful beak was reinvented by British illustrator Katie Scott for the Toucans de Paradis silk scarf in 2020. The youthful British artist, who is passionate about flora and fauna and has made a name for herself with her characteristic style of botanical and animal illustrations, has created a fantastic species with decorative plumage. This exotic representation, hovering between fantasy and naturalism, lends a new artistic dimension to the Arceau watch.

Its dial associates two highly demanding and remarkable crafts that took five years to perfect: multicoloured silk threads, highlighted by the intensity of the miniature enamel. The unique and exclusive Hermès silk thread technique was inspired by a kimono weaving workshop in Japan. Chosen for its vibrant design, the Amazonian bird is composed of 500 individually assembled threads and is brought to life by a full week of fine craftsmanship.

The white gold base is first enamelled. The artisan uses a very fine brush to coat it with glass powders mixed with natural oils, which are then applied in several layers, dried and fired in the kiln. Recesses to house the silk threads are engraved around the enamelled surfaces.

Hermès ARCEAU Toucan de Paradis Limited Edition

Each thread is meticulously positioned and fixed into place with infinite care so as to create subtly shimmering light and preserve a perfect weave.

Embellished with 82 diamonds, this unique dial is framed by a white gold case measuring 38 mm in diameter and housing the Hermès H1912 self-winding movement.

Created in the Hermès Horloger workshops, a Zanzibar blue calfskin strap highlights the colours of this exclusive watch, issued in a numbered limited edition of 24 pieces.

Hermès ARCEAU ‘The Three Graces’ Limited Edition

Produced in a numbered limited edition of 24, the white gold and diamond Arceau The Three Graces reinterprets the theme of the eponymous silk scarf designed by British artist Alice Shirley in 2020.

Crafted in wood marquetry and miniature painting on aventurine, the elegant giraffe adorning the dial of Arceau The Three Graces was originally inspired by a trip to South Africa, when Alice Shirley had the privilege of spotting three giraffes partially concealed by an acacia tree. The delicacy and poetry of this gigantic creature, with its ample and graceful movements, is highlighted by the skilled touch of Hermès artisans, who have reproduced its natural harmony.

Hermès ARCEAU ‘The Three Graces’ Limited Edition

To transpose the animal’s profile, long neck and mottled coat to the scale of a dial, the marquetry specialist begins by transferring and downscaling the design, then rigorously selecting the type, grain and colour of the wood used to reproduce it. In this case that meant a combination of naturally dark, light, stained or bleached wood – American walnut and maple, European sycamore and tulip tree – chosen for their nuances and textures similar to those of the original design.

The artisan cuts out the multitude of tiny elements – 195 pieces in all – forming the portrait that is then assembled like a puzzle, before gluing, sanding and applying a protective varnish.

This marquetry decoration comes to life in the heart of a work that also requires meticulous care and a flair for colours. On a scintillating aventurine base, the painter traces the outlines of the motif before placing the piece in the kiln to fix the colours in place.

He then forms the various volumes of the background vegetation using successive layers of micro-painting applied with a brush and heat-dried in a kiln. He proceeds in the same way for the flat areas of colours, before finalizing his composition with small precise touches. The challenge of such an endeavour lies in miniaturising a rich palette of nuances, contrasts and subtle details. Several weeks of rigorous discipline, patience and dexterity are required to produce this dial, which is by nature unique.

Hermès ARCEAU ‘The Three Graces’ Limited Edition

Representing a combination of artistic crafts and watchmaking, the Arceau The Three Graces watch is powered by the Hermès H1912 mechanical self-winding movement driving hours and minutes hands. The deep hues of the dial, framed by a precious white gold case set with 82 diamonds, are highlighted by a blue sapphire alligator strap made in the Hermès Horloger workshops.

Hermès SLIM D’HERMÈS La Source de Pégase

Seamlessly blending several miniature techniques, the Slim d’Hermès La Source de Pégase watch features a winged horse in brilliant colours.

This miniature artistic composition is inspired by the La Source de Pégase silk scarf designed by French artist Pierre Marie. The illustrator depicts the winged horse striking a rock with its hoof to create the Hippocrene spring on Mount Helicon.

A luminous yellow first interpretation set with 52 baguette-cut diamonds combines Grand Feu enamel with straw marquetry. The champlevé enamel dial base is crisscrossed with alveoli filled with coloured glass powders mixed with natural oils and then fired at over 800° C to set the colours.

Hermès SLIM D’HERMÈS La Source de Pégase

The raised Pegasus figure is composed of a multitude of enamel layers, successively dried and fired before being engraved by hand. Its fan-shaped wings are crafted using the straw marquetry technique, for which the artisan individually cuts sections of previously selected, dyed and dried smooth rye, forming the motif by assembling each strand on a gold plate, which he then places on the enamel.

The equally radiant second model with its sky blue shades tones features an engraved Pegasus, with gold-woven wings standing out against a painted mother-of-pearl background. The different colours are delicately applied to the dial using a brush.

Hermès SLIM D’HERMÈS La Source de Pégase

They are dried in a kiln before the profile of the gold horse is shaped in relief using the engraver’s burins and chisels before being painted by hand. Finally, the feathers of its wings are composed using precious gold-leaf threads, assembled in several layers and painted in bright colours.

These two exceptional dials are framed by a round 39.5 mm-diameter white gold case housing the Hermès H1950 ultra-thin mechanical self-winding movement adorned with the “sprinkling of Hs”.

Crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops, a Chantilly or Mykonos blue alligator strap matches the shades of each watch, respectively issued in 12-piece limited editions.

Hermès ARCEAU Space Derby

With the new Arceau Space Derby watch, Hermès takes us to the futuristic and colourful universe of the illustrator Ugo Bienvenu, who designed the Space Derby silk scarf, inspired by 20th century American comic book superheroes, and imagined brightly coloured cosmic equestrian teams.

Hermès ARCEAU Space Derby watch in white gold

Two limited series reinterpret the original design of the Space Derby silk scarf. The first, crafted in white gold and aventurine, reveals a jockey and his aerodynamic chariot, pulled by a thoroughbred in armour, beneath a star-studded sky.

The second, in diamond-set white gold, features a crimson moon-phase display as well as a flame-haired driver holding the reins of a horse-drawn carriage hurtling at full speed.

Both models are equipped with a Manufacture Hermès mechanical self-winding movement and paired with an abyss blue or old rose alligator strap matching the dial colour. They are entirely crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops.

Hermès Slim D’Hermès C’est la fête

Dressed in a white gold case, this new Slim d’Hermès watch showcases the subtle arts of miniature paillonné enamel and engraving in a whimsical and mischievous universe.

Crafted in blue and bronze/russet tones, the new Slim d’Hermès C’est la fête is brought to life by the skilful workmanship of the enamellers and engravers. Humorously reinterpreting the theme of the C’est la fête silk scarf, demanding miniature enamel artistry is revealed in all its virtuoso splendour.

The dial motif – a mischievous skeleton figure vigorously riding his horse in a tailcoat and top hat – is drawn from the men’s silk scarf designed by Daiske Nomura in 2012.

Hermès Slim D’Hermès C’est la fête watch

The Japanese designer-illustrator, who likes to hijack Hermès emblems by associating them with cartoon, manga and videogame culture, offers a consistently unexpected whimsical or futuristic vision. With Slim d’Hermès C’est la fête, this modern, rock’n’rol l interpretation of the vanities theme enters a whole new dimension: a paillonné enamel and engraving composition in which every detail harbours a wealth of dexterity, emotion and singularity.

The Slim d’Hermès C’est la fête dial combines several meticulous techniques, including paillonné enamel, which consists in inserting gold or silver leaf paillons (spangles) between the layers of enamel to create a variety of light, transparency and relief effects.

Hermès Slim D’Hermès C’est la fête

The artisan performs this delicate operation in conjunction with the no less meticulous craft of miniature enamelling, tracing the contours of the motif on a hand-enamelled and polished white gold surface before using a very fine brush to adorn it with various coloured glass powders mixed with natural oils. These are applied in several coats, successively dried and fired in the kiln to fix the pigments and paillons in place.

The skeletons of the horseman and his steed take shape beneath the burins and chisels wielded by the engraver, who patiently carves out the relief and depth of these figures in gold.

Its elegant round white gold case houses the ultra-thin Manufacture Hermès H1950 self-winding movement, adorned with the signature “sprinkling of Hs” motif.

Crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops, a matt abyss blue alligator strap underscores the nuances of this exclusive watch, issued in an eight-piece limited edition.

Hermès H08 watch

Unveiled at the Watches and Wonders 2021 digital event, the Hermès H08 watch is firmly embedded in the men’s universe of the house that Véronique Nichanian has been shaping over the past three decades. At once serious and sensual, robust and delicate, matt and glossy, it is defined by its inherently varied, multi-facetted nature.

Hermès H08 watch

Its sporting-inspired design mingles taut and flowing lines, its circular dial framed by a case with softened edges, as if angles and curves were merging into a seamless whole. It appears bedecked in mineral materials and tones, with black, grey and anthracite quite naturally rubbing shoulders with blue and orange.

Hermès H08 watch

The enigmatic name of the Hermès H08 watch hints at graphics, mathematics and metaphysics. The distinctively original font of the numerals chimes with the object, including a 0 and an 8 whose forms evoke that of the case. The 0 numeral embodies emptiness, while the horizontal figure 8 symbolises infinity.

Beating to the rhythm of the mechanical self-winding Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement, the new Hermès H08 line offers three large cushion-shaped models with a screw-down crown.

Hermès H08 watch movement

The first features a graphene-filled composite case, topped by a satin-brushed and polished ceramic bezel. Its black gold-coated dial is punctuated by a minutes track, luminescent Arabic numerals, and black nickel-coated hands displaying the hours, minutes, central seconds, and date at half past four. It is paired with a black rubber strap secured by a titanium butterfly clasp.

Two other variants – the first in matt black DLC-coated titanium and the second in satin-brushed titanium – frame a black nickel-coated dial and are teamed with a blue or black webbing band, or a black or orange rubber strap.

Hermès H08 watch

In addition to its toughness and comfort, the woven strap specially developed for the Hermès H08 watch epitomises a style that is as sporty as it is sophisticated, entirely consistent with the world of Hermès menswear.

Hermès ARCEAU Horse

Hermès presents ARCEAU Horse, a new timepiece that highlights the Maison’s saddlery and leather making expertise. In this new Arceau round watch, 395 mini studs are individually placed on the leather dial to create an equestrian motif.

The meticulous studding is complemented by the delicate crafting of the black or white leather, both miniaturised to the scale of the dial. The spirited horse comes to life framed by a steel case set with 100 diamonds and secured to the wrist by a calfskin strap matching the dial colour – all produced in the Hermès Horloger workshops.

The 36mm case houses a Swiss made quartz movement.

Hermès ARCEAU Petite Lune Jeté de diamants et saphirs

This new Hermès Arceau Petite Lune watch is adorned with 87 sapphires and 68 diamonds set in «Jeté» from the 38 mm steel case to the natural white mother-of-pearl dial. Its dial design takes inspiration from Franco-German artist Édouard Baribeaud’s work for the Hermès silk scarf titled Acte III, Scène I, la Clairière…inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Hermès ARCEAU Petite Lune Jeté de diamants et saphirs

Swept over by slender hands, the lunar glow of the mother-of-pearl is enlivened by random setting and stretches to the pointer-type date and sloping numerals at 6 o’clock. Fitted with a Petite Lune module, the Manufacture Hermès H1837 self-winding movement drives the hours, minutes, date as well as the moonphase appearing between 10 and 11 o’clock.

Hermès Arceau Soleil

The ARCEAU Soleil watch features a laser-engraved sunray pattern dial inspired by a Hermès silk scarf designed by Swiss artist Fred Rawyler. Created by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the round Arceau watch with its stirrup inspired lugs lends its singular aesthetic to a new stylistic expression.

Sunbeams radiating across a subtle chiaroscuro gradient accentuate the path of the slender hands, in an endlessly mesmerising geometry. The diamond hour markers, set into the sapphire crystal, create the illusion of levitating above the dial, while a translucent lacquer in shades of blue or grey swathes the engraved motif in an aura of mystery.

Hermès Cape Cod Martelée

The new Cape Cod Martelée watch by Hermès highlights its anchor chain shape in a subtle play of forged and patinated surfaces.

In 1991, the Cape Cod was born from the unfettered pencil strokes of Henri d’Origny. As boldly original as it is rigorously disciplined, the Cape Cod is composed of two Chaîne d’ancre half-links, the famous motif created by Robert Dumas in 1938 and inspired by ships’ anchor chains.

Hermès Cape Cod Martelée watch

This year, this classic watch lends its finely balanced shapes to the excellent jewellers skill known as hammering. This complex and sophisticated technique enhances the steel case with a unique patina-type effect. The likewise hammered dial is coated with a thin layer of translucent lacquer, in graded shades ranging from anthracite to black. The raw yet crafted material, with all its depth and roughness, results in an object with an entirely unexpected look.

Hermès Nantucket Jeté de Chaîne d’Ancre

The Hermès Nantucket miniature watch is now available with the famous «Anchor Chain» motif.

The Cape Cod and Nantucket watch models share the same lineage and were both born in 1991, sketched by Henri d’Origny whose initial remit was to design a square watch. His unbridled creativity decided otherwise: one was to be «a square in a rectangle» and the other «a rectangle in a rectangle». Featuring an aesthetic that is both original and rigorous, each finds its own expression in the «Anchor Chain» shape with its half-links constructing the case.

Hermès Nantucket Jeté de Chaîne d’Ancre

Slimmer than its contemporary counterpart and more daintily sized, the Nantucket jewellery watch radiates an aura of airy and mischievous femininity, elegantly lending itself to the joys of everyday life.

Hermès Nantucket Jeté de Chaîne d’Ancre

The new Nantucket watch plays with the «Anchor Chain» motif imagined by Robert Dumas during a trip to the Normandy coast in 1938. His sketch, inspired by the chains linking the boat to its anchor, first came to life in a bracelet before finding its way into the different métiers of the Maison and becoming an authentic Hermès classic.

Hermès Nantucket Jeté de Chaîne d’Ancre

Here, the iconic «Anchor Chain» composes the rectangular steel case produced in the Hermès Horloger workshops and illuminates it with its gemset links sprinkled across a pristine dial. As if swept away by the wind, the diamonds of various sizes form asymmetrical patterns in an airy movement flowing from case to dial.

Hermès Arceau Harnais Français Remix Limited Edition

Dressed in a white gold case set with 82 diamonds framing an engraved and hand-painted porcelain dial, the Arceau Harnais Français remix limited edition highlights the expertise and creativity of Hermès Horloger.

The dial motif, composed of a pair of splendidly harnessed horses, echoes the central element of the “Harnais Français Remix” silk scarf, originally designed by Hugo Grygkar, the prolific in-house designer from the 1940s to 1959. The artist was inspired by a work kept in the private collection of Émile Hermès: a team of horses richly caparisoned and topped with multi-coloured feathers, designed by two young 19th century architects – Fontaine and Percier –wjp were commissioned to design a coach for the coronation of Napoleon I in 1804.

Hermès Arceau Harnais Français Remix Limited Edition
Image: Studio_des_fleurs

Transposed to the modest dimensions of the Arceau watch dial, this equestrian depiction requires almost a month of meticulous craftsmanship. The profile of the horses is hand-engraved on bisque (unglazed) Limoges porcelain.

The dainty matt appearance of the material corresponds to the production stage preceding enamelling, a process that makes the porcelain both smooth and shiny. Here, the different colours are applied directly to this raw material with its unique rendering. The delicate successive applications of colour are interspersed with successive and precise firings in the kiln in order to fix and enhance the pigments.

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the case of Arceau watch features stirrup-like asymmetrical lugs. It measures 38mm diameter and has a water resistance of 30 meters.

Produced in a limited and numbered series of 24, the Arceau Harnais Français remix watch is driven by the H1912 mechanical self-winding movement, which, like the gem-set gold case and raspberry alligator strap, is crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops.

Hermès Arceau Into the Canadian Wild Limited Edition

Hermès presents two limited edition Arceau timepieces as a tribute to the luxuriant Nature abounding in Canada. These watches features the asymmetrical stirrup-shaped case designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978.

Available in two limited series of 24 each, the Arceau Into the Canadian Wild watch in white gold and diamonds captures the spirit of wild Nature on its dial. The animal themes interpreted here – a polar bear and a snowy owl – both stem from the Into the Canadian Wild silk scarf designed by British artist Alice Shirley in 2017, on the occasion of Canada’s 150th anniversary. The original drawing depicts the abundance of flora and fauna, natural treasures of Canada’s vast territories bathed in oceans, lakes and rivers.

From this hymn to nature, Hermès Horloger has drawn two interpretations: a snowy owl – emblematic of Quebec – flying amid the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) graces the first model; while the other features a polar bear with its cub, standing on top of waves populated by fascinating creatures.

Hermès Arceau Into the Canadian Wild Limited Edition

The artisan devotes more than a week per dial to accomplishing this miniature work, tracing the contours of the motif on the glittering aventurine base, before placing it in the kiln to fire it in place. The different volumes of the landscapes and animals are then formed by means of successive layers of paint alternating with successive firings. The major requirement of such a work lies in the miniaturisation of a drawing with multiple volumes, tones and subtle details.

The Arceau Into the Canadian Wild watch is powered by a mechanical self-winding Hermès movement. It displays hours and minutes on the model adorned with a polar bear, along with a moon phase on the model featuring the snowy owl.

An elegant white gold case set with 82 diamonds frames the hand-crafted dial and is complemented by a smooth sapphire blue alligator strap, also made by the Hermès Horloger artisans.

Hermès Arceau Pocket Aaaaargh!

Hermès presents the Arceau Pocket Aaaaaargh!, a high-complication pocket watch created in co-operation with English artist Alice Shirley. It is the third timepiece born from the collaboration between the Swiss luxury watch brand and Alice Shirley. First two creations were the Slim of Hermes Grrrrr! & the Arceau Awooooo.

After the gruff bear of the Slim of Hermes Grrrrr! and the wolf howling in the moonlight of the Arceau Awooooo, the Arceau Pocket Aaaaaargh! Watch highlights a tyrannosaurus aka T-Rex. On this new watch model, the «king of the tyrant lizards» with half-open jaws and an attentive eye comes to life under the expert guidance of Hermès watchmakers, after a month of meticulous work using exclusive techniques developed in its leather workshops.

The design of the tyrannosaurus, which appears to be peeking through a porthole, stands out against the cover and involves a combination of several demanding skills. The head and scales are made in leather mosaic: thousands of finely hand-cut multi-coloured leather fragments are applied one by one to faithfully reproduce the original pattern.

Hermes Arceau Pocket Aaaaargh!_cadran©Claude Joray (3)

The domed eye of the dinosaur, visible on both sides of the cover, is made of cabochon-cut Grand Feu enamel. Finally, the jaw and tongue are crafted in leather marquetry: fine tesserae are cut from various coloured leathers, previously thinned to just 0.5 mm, before being juxtaposed on the enamel base. Setting the final touch to this miniaturized leather artwork, a matt green alligator leather cord-strap is secured to the rectangular stirrup and accentuates the overall design.

Hermès Arceau Lift Tourbillon Répétition Minutes

Hermès expands its iconic Arceau watch family by revealing a high-complication watch with flying tourbillon and minute repeater mechanisms.

The timeless silhouette of this Arceau watch takes the form of a round case with stirrup-like asymmetrical lugs. A one-of-a-kind model in rose or white gold, the Arceau Lift tourbillon répétition minutes features a white or Abyss blue-lacquered dial. A horse-shaped cut-out in the lacquered dial reveals the Hermès tourbillon and minute-repeater movement.

Hermès Arceau Lift Tourbillon Répétition Minutes rose gold

Framed by the equestrian profile cut-out hugging the curves of the case, the complexity of the double-gong minute-repeater mechanism is captivating. This traditional horological complication is combined here with another horological exception – the flying tourbillon – coiled inside the horse’s neck and visible through a round aperture at 6 o’clock.

Hermès Arceau Lift Tourbillon Répétition Minutes white gold

Forming a double H, the architecture of the tourbillon is inspired by mot emblematic of the Hermès boutique on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. This design crowning the tourbillon carriage and barrel bridge picks up the pattern of the artistic wrought ironwork adorning the entrance, railings, staircase and lift at the Parisian establishment.

The pleasing overall effect is swept over by slim open-worked hands and punctuated by the Arceau line’s characteristic sloping numerals that evoke a galloping horse.

Hermès Arceau Lift Tourbillon Répétition Minutes caseback

Visible through the dial cut-outs and the sapphire crystal case-back, the new mechanical hand-wound movement H1924 from Manufacture Hermès emits the clear chime of its minute repeater from a white or rose gold case measuring 43 mm in diameter. Re-designed to incorporate two major Haute Horlogerie complications, this precious case was designed in the Hermès Horloger workshops, as were the lacquered dial and matt black alligator strap.

Hermès ARCEAU Cheval Cosmique

Hermès created a special ARCEAU watch highlighting a highly artistic dial with a silhouette of a horse and waves in engraved gold, set against an aventurine or mother-of-pearl and enamel background and paired with an abyss blue or Chantilly alligator strap.

The Arceau watch designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978 lends its sober yet singular allure to a new expression of Hermès creativity and expertise.

Hermes ARCEAU Cheval Cosmique white gold version with Aventurine dial

Imagined by artist Gianpaolo Pagni, the “Cheval Cosmique” composition combines graphic undulations with the silhouette of a horse from Émile Hermès’ private collection. This singular interpretation is transposed here in relief, on a dial in aventurine or mother-of-pearl and enamel: a splendid trotting horse and a wavy motif hand-engraved in white gold.

The Arceau Cheval Cosmique watch is produced in two limited series of 24 each. The first, in white gold, displays its equestrian motif at the heart of a dial featuring deep shades of aventurine enhanced by an abyss blue alligator strap.

Hermes ARCEAU Cheval Cosmique white gold diamond set version with Enamelled white gold and mother-of-pearl dial

The second, in white gold set with diamonds, frames a luminous dial in mother-of-pearl and enamel, highlighted by a Chantilly alligator strap. The new Arceau with its hours and minutes display is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement which, like the dial, case and bracelet, is developed in the Hermès Horloger workshops.

Hermès ARCEAU L’heure de la lune, New Models

In 2020, Hermès is unveiling new interpretations of its ARCEAU L’heure de la lune, a high horology creation that offers a unique vision of Earth’s satellite with the simultaneous display of moon phases in both northern and southern hemispheres.

The new Hermès ARCEAU L’heure de la lune watches are available in white gold or platinum case. Two mobile counters gravitate on a lunar, Martian or Black Sahara meteorite dial, revealing mother-of-pearl moons in step with an exclusive module, coupled with a Manufacture Hermès movement. Meteorite inlaid with mother-of-pearl form a cosmos in which satellite dials float above hemispherical moons. These mischievous displays have swapped cardinal points, with the south above and the north below.

ARCEAU L’heure de la lune (with white gold case and Black Sahara meteorite dial)

The new models being released this year are white gold versions with Black Sahara meteorite dial (limited edition of 30 pieces) or lunar meteorite dial (limited edition of 36 pieces) and a Platinum version with Martian meteorite dial (limited edition of 2 pieces).

The horse, representing the origins of Hermès, gallops elegantly into the world of dreams. At 12 o’clock, the moon is adorned by a Pegasus designed by the “dreamer-designer” Dimitri Rybaltchenko. Entitled Pleine Lune (Full Moon), this portrayal of the winged horse hints at a passage between two worlds, where magic and reality merge.

ARCEAU L’heure de la lune (with white gold case and lunar meteorite dial)

On the other side, at 6 o’clock, the view of the moon from the northern hemisphere provides a realistic depiction of its surface. The mobile counters displaying the time and date turn weightlessly to reveal the moon discs, while maintaining their horizontal orientation. This contemporary dance is choreographed by a module exclusively developed for Hermès and for which a patent has been fled.

With a total thickness of just 4.2 mm, its 117 polished and bead-blasted components are incorporated within the Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement: a technical challenge designed to preserve the slenderness of the overall mobile chassis, which sweeps around the dial in 59 days.

ARCEAU L’heure de la lune (with platinum case and Martian meteorite dial)

The mother-of-pearl moons set into the stone display the lunar cycles in the northern and southern hemispheres. This mysterious game of hide-and-seek reveals nothing of its technical complexity, so as to give pride of place to dreams. Within this space-time, metal, stars and rock seamlessly merge the watch exterior with the movement to form an unprecedented technical and aesthetic display of simple and graphic readability.

The double moon here eclipses a traditional aperture-type display, instead covering the entire surface of the dial. The result is a free-spirited and impertinent vision of mechanical watchmaking according to Hermès.

The Arceau case with its asymmetrical lugs, designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, becomes a lunar crater made of meteorite stone, while the lacquered dials, gravitating like satellites, display Arabic numerals with a distinctive sloping font.

The ARCEAU L’heure de la lune timepiece is fitted with a matt alligator strap in black, Havana or Veronese green, depending on the versions.

Hermès ARCEAU Squelette

Designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau watch is the epitome of formal classicism tinged with singularity. Its sober and carefully studied design, its round case with asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs, along with its sloping font evoking a galloping horse, all contribute to establishing its timeless yet contemporary nature. Hovering between shadow and light, the new Arceau skeleton watch subtly reveals the complexity of mechanical architecture.

Hermès ARCEAU Squelette automatic watch, stainless steel case with smoked sapphire crystal dial

The Arceau Squelette watch features a round steel case framing a smoked sapphire crystal dial. From the deep black gradient on the chapter ring, enhanced by a beaded minute circle and silvered numerals, to the transparency of the centre revealing the skeleton movement, the magic weaves its spell.

The bridges, the anthracite wheels and the openwork oscillating weight play with the lightness of the slender hour and minute hands, while the cut-out numerals and the Hermès signature appear to be levitating.

Hermès Slim d’Hermès GMT

Hermès expands their Slim d’Hermès collection by presenting a new rose gold timepiece equipped with GMT function.

Introduced in 2012, the Slim d’Hermès line embodies essentials: simplicity imbued with rigorous discipline and aesthetic balance, the unmistakable signature of the collection. The slender curves of the case middle, the right-angled curves, the original numeral font designed by Philippe Apeloig.

Made from rose gold, the Slim d’Hermès GMT watch is an ideal companion for today’s globetrotter. Its elegant and ultra-thin 9.48 mm thick case made from rose gold reveals its pure display beneath an enigmatic smoked crystal veil.

The broad blue dial with its distinctive font – slim numerals with spaces between them – is adorned with subtle finishing that accentuates its intensity. A sunburst chapter ring, snailed centre and date counter, along with a grained silver-toned GMT counter studded with numerals punctuate this perfectly legible Manufacture dial swept over by slender sandblasted gilded baton-type hands.

The new Slim d’Hermès GMT is equipped with the ultrathin Manufacture Hermès H1950 movement measuring just 2.6 mm thick, combined with the 1.4 mm of the ultra-thin GMT module exclusively developed by Agenhor for Hermès. In addition to the hours, minutes and date function, this mechanical self-winding composition equipped with a microrotor drives a dual-time reading complete with two day/ night indicators for home time and travel time.

The time in a given destination is simply and playfully adjusted via a dedicated pushbutton. The movement bridges, hand-chamfered and adorned with the ‘sprinkling of Hs’ motif, along with those of the module featuring Côtes de Genève and circular graining, can be admired through the sapphire crystal case-back.

The watch is worn on a matt abyss blue alligator strap, crafted in the Hermès leather workshops.

Hermès Slim d’Hermès Cheval Ikat Limited Edition

Framed by a fine gold case, this new Slim d’Hermès watch lends its refined design to the art of Ikat weaving. Against a white or blue background, its dial embroidered with gold threads reveals the graceful curves of a galloping horse.

To create the raised equestrian motif, the artisan places a multitude of threads three times thinner than a hair on the dial, having first determined a starting and ending point for each thread and then laser-hollowed the cavities intended to accommodate its ends – which are fused by means of 24K gold poured into these attachment points.

Hermès Slim d’Hermès Cheval Ikat Limited Edition watch with white gold case

Each of the specifically shaped 1,165 threads required is arranged in a highly precise order and position so as to create the play of transparency and light in the weft. The crossings and the different levels of the threads, along with the extreme slimness of the dial (0.35 mm) represent a constant challenge for the creation of this miniature work.

Hermès Slim d’Hermès Cheval Ikat Limited Edition watch with white gold case

Produced in two 36-piece limited and numbered editions, the Ikat Slim d’Hermès watch matches the dial featuring gold thread embroidery with a white or rose gold case combined with a black or Chantilly alligator strap. The thin baton-type hands sweep over the horse’s silhouette and stand out against the white or blue dial. The ultra-thin Manufacture Hermès H1950 movement gives life to this singular expression of time.

Rhythmically counting off the hours and minutes, the refined mechanical mechanism adorned with a sprinkling of Hs and hand-bevelled bridges is revealed through the sapphire caseback which, like the movement, dial and strap, is developed and crafted in the Hermès Horloger ateliers.

Hermès Arceau Ronde Des Heures Watch Limited Edition

The Arceau watch, designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, lends its understated yet unique aesthetic to a new expression of time according to Hermès. This playful and paradoxical creation diverts the moon from its expected role. Here, the Earth’s satellite itself indicates the time as the numerals whirl in the moonlight, while the minutes hand points to the distant stars of a constellation.

Hermès Arceau Ronde Des Heures Watch Limited Edition

Ever since its creation, the round case of the Arceau has rested on a rectangular stirrup, tracing a timeless silhouette. Its black bezel adorned with black spinels radiates an intense nocturnal light. Its sunburst glossy black dial is enlivened by a carousel of sloping numerals sweeping over an iridescent moon.

Standing out against this radiant darkness are a moon and stars crafted in mother-of-pearl and revealed by luminescent lacquer. Issued in a limited edition of 300, the Arceau Ronde des heures watch is fastened to the wrist by a strap in black alligator crafted by Hermès artisans.

Hermès Arceau L’heure De La Lune Only Watch 2019

Exclusively created for the Only Watch 2019 Charity event, this unique piece of the Hermès Arceau Arceau L’heure de la lune watch offers a unique vision of Earth’s satellite with the simultaneous display of moon phases in both northern and southern hemispheres. Two mobile counters gravitate on a meteorite dial, revealing mother-of-pearl moons in step with an exclusive module, coupled with a Manufacture Hermès movement.

An offbeat expression of a classic horological complication, the Arceau L’heure de la lune watch offers an original interpretation of Hermès watchmaking expertise. Framed by a white gold case, the mechanics adopt a light, barely-there role. Meteorite inlaid with mother-of-pearl form a cosmos in which satellite dials float above hemispherical moons. These mischievous displays have swapped cardinal points, with the south above and the north below.

Hermès Arceau L’heure De La Lune Only Watch

The horse, representing the origins of Hermès, gallops elegantly into the world of dreams. At 12 o’clock, the moon is adorned by a Pegasus designed by the “dreamer-designer” Dimitri Rybaltchenko. Entitled Pleine Lune (Full Moon), this portrayal of the winged horse hints at a passage between two worlds, where magic and reality merge. On the other side, at 6 o’clock, the view of the moon from the northern hemisphere provides a realistic depiction of its surface.

The mobile counters displaying the time and date turn weightlessly to reveal the moon discs, while maintaining their horizontal orientation. This contemporary dance is choreographed by a module exclusively developed for Hermès and for which a patent has been filed.

Hermès Arceau L’heure De La Lune Only Watch

With a total thickness of just 4.2 mm, its 117 polished and bead-blasted components are incorporated within the Manufacture Hermès H1837 movement: a technical challenge designed to preserve the slenderness of the overall mobile chassis, which sweeps around the dial in 59 days.

This unique Haute Horlogerie timepiece is fitted with a matt alligator strap in graphite grey with a blue zephyr calfskin.

Hermès Slim D’Hermès Pégase Paysage Limited Edition

The Slim d’Hermès watch, created by Philippe Delhotal in 2015, lends itself to a new expression of expertise: wood marquetry. Its thin case with angular lugs frames a dial bearing the effigy of Pegasus composed of rare wood species.

This «horse landscape» is revealed through woody nuances. Its head viewed in profile expresses lightness, power and serenity, while its undulations evoke a bird’s eye view of hills, water and terraced rice fields. The Slim d’Hermès dial welcomes a portrait of Pegasus in precious wood marquetry.

Hermès Slim D’Hermès Pégase Paysage Limited Edition watch

To transpose these complex volumes and curves to the scale of a dial, Hermès craftsmen begin by miniaturising the motif. They then rigorously select the essence and colour of the material that will serve as a medium of expression – in this instance a blend of woods that are precious – such as Macassar amaranth and ebony – and rare, like chestnut, yellow pear and madrona burr.

Amaranth is a purple wood with a fine grain, whose almost white heart turns dark after many years. Macassar ebony is finely specked with crystals and has a black colour, a very fine grain and a high density. The light, soft and homogeneous wood of the chestnut tree is a silky white. Yellow pear tree wood, which is compact and likewise uniform, acquires a beautiful polish.

Finally, madrona burr – a tree growth in the wood veins – a material that is both very hard and difficult to work with, forms small waves of orange-brown to pale red colour. The various woods are thus chosen for their shades close to the original design, but also for their specific grain, perfectly adapted to the meticulous art of wood marquetry.

Hermès Slim D’Hermès Pégase Paysage Limited Edition watch

The artisan cuts out the multitude of tiny elements forming the pattern, before assembling them like a jigsaw puzzle, gluing them in place and finishing them by sanding and varnishing. Combining rigorous discipline, patience and dexterity, three weeks of work are necessary to create a dial, which is by nature unique.

The Slim d’Hermès Pégase Paysage watch, available in a limited edition of eight, comes in a 39.5 mm diameter white gold case fitted with a matt Havana alligator strap. Its thin baton type hands are driven by an ultra-thin self-winding movement crafted by the Manufacture, as indeed are the dial, case and bracelet, all governed by the Hermès Horloger rules of expertise.

Hermès Arceau Astrologie Nouvelle Limited Edition

The Arceau watch, designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, lends itself to a new expression of expertise: wood marquetry. Its discreet gold case, topped by asymmetrical stirrup shaped lugs, frames a dial crafted from tulipwood picking up the design of the Astrologie Nouvelle silk scarf.

Reinterpreted by Cyrille Diatkine in 2012, it expresses the rhythmical cadence characterising the flow and acceleration of time. The designer has infused it with a modern touch, breaking down and alternating the original motifs to form a kind of ‘orderly chaos’. This autumn, Hermès adorns the dial of an Arceau watch with a precious wood inlay.

Hermès Arceau Astrologie Nouvelle Limited Edition watch with Wood marquetry dial

To freely transpose this theme to the scale of a dial, Hermès artisans begin by miniaturising the motif. They then rigorously select the essence and colour of the material that will serve as a medium of expression: tulipwood.

Also known as «yellow poplar» or Virginia tulip tree (its flowers resemble large green yellow tulips), this tree native to North America has a precious heart that changes colour over time, evolving from white to very dark blue. The wood is thus chosen for its shades close to the original design, but also for its fine and firm grain, perfectly adapted to the meticulous art of wood marquetry.
