TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph
During the LVMH Watch Week 2025, Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer revealed five new timepieces in the Formula 1 collection – four chronographs and the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Oracle Red Bull Racing.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection has long been associated with motorsport. The original TAG Heuer Formula 1 was launched in 1986, marking the first watch to carry the TAG Heuer name. For many collectors, it was their first Swiss timepiece, admired for its forward-looking design and striking color combinations. Decades later, this model has become one of the most coveted vintage watches, with enthusiasts looking into secondary markets to capture a piece that remains as stylish today as it was nearly 40 years ago.
What made this TAG Heuer watch so special was its ability to introduce a generation to Swiss timepieces, offering a way to assert personal style and individuality. As the first premium composite quartz watch, it drew collectors deeper into the world of horology.
Now, in 2025, TAG Heuer launches five new Formula 1 Chronograph models, including one crafted in collaboration with its longtime partner, Oracle Red Bull Racing.
For this new launch, the spotlight remains on the racing world. Drawing from the high-energy world of F1, this new lineup introduces sharp and dynamic elements while staying true to its racing roots and TAG Heuer Formula 1 heritage.
The new case reflects the aerodynamic lines of F1 cars, with the signature shape evoking the nose of a F1 vehicle. The bezel, with its micro-perforations, subtly references the brake discs on the fastest machines on the planet. Attention to the smallest details shines through in the indexes, reminiscent of the shape of the front of the F1 cars.
Ergonomics played a crucial role in the development of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph. TAG Heuer optimized the lug-to-lug distance for improved comfort while also refining the case profile to create a sleek and streamlined look.
The use of lightweight titanium for the case – with some versions enhanced by a DLC coating – combined with a dynamic rubber strap, ensures these timepieces are both sturdy and comfortable, ideal for racing fans and city dwellers alike.
The core collection’s aluminum tachymeter bezel, framed by a colored ring between the case and bezel, draws inspiration from F1’s precision engineering, while the skeletonized hour and minute hands give the construction a modern, technical edge.
The shaped pushers across the range amplify the mechanical feel, while lacquered crown rings in matching vibrant tones bring a touch of playful sophistication, reminiscent of the profile of F1 cars with similar hues.
The new timepieces make a powerful statement with their bold contrasts and vibrant colors, drawing inspiration from the energy of night racing. The concept of “Grand Prix by night” shapes the design, blending dark tones with vivid bursts of color.
Though they share a common foundation, each watch presents its own unique color expression: the first model highlights a bold red running track and red lacquer accents, as seen in the second watch which is intensified by a red strap.
The third version takes on a cooler feel with blue accents and a bi-colored black-and-blue strap, while the fourth introduces a fresh, lively lime green running track and bi-colored strap, perfect for those who want a more vibrant take on high-performance timekeeping.
The colored joint between the bezel and case beautifully introduces a sense of animation and movement to the timepieces.
The running tracks of each watch – with new inserted indexes inspired by the universe of F1 – encircles the black opaline dial, reinforcing the kinetic energy of the collection and infusing energy and movement into the wrist.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Oracle Red Bull Racing includes a grade-2 titanium case, a tachymeter bezel with a forged carbon insert, and a blue opaline dial with a checkered flag pattern that evokes the heart of F1.
Every detail of this model reflects Oracle Red Bull Racing’s iconic colors, with Pantone hues carefully applied for authenticity. The checkered pattern, synonymous with the world of F1, is subtly engraved on the caseback, alongside the TAG Heuer and Oracle Red Bull Racing logos.
A striking element is the red lacquer in the crown and the colored ring between the case and bezel, which adds a dynamic burst of color to the sleek design, complemented by the yellow lacquered central hand.
The shaped pushers and skeletonized rhodium-plated hour and minute hands elevate the modern feel, while the bi-colored blue and red strap mirrors Oracle Red Bull Racing’s racing livery and the F1 cars dynamic color signatures.
The special packaging features the Oracle Red Bull Racing logo and livery colors, completing the experience and offering collectors and racing fans a unique and coveted timepiece.
