The Wancher Dream Moonphase Kaguya is an automatic watch that shows the phases of our celestial neighbour. This stainless steel timepiece is available in different dial versions like Suigetsu, Murasaki Blue and Suigetsu Tsukimi.
According to Japanese folklore, Kaguya was a princess from the moon. Interestingly, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) chose her name for the country’s second lunar orbiter.
As the name suggests, this automatic timepiece by Wancher celebrates the beauty of the moon and Japanese traditions.
The Dream Moonphase Kaguya features a mother of pearl dial with a moon-phase complication at 2 o’clock. Depending upon the dial version, each watch employs various artistic techniques on the dial and moon-phase disc.
The dial of Suigetsu model takes inspiration from the delightful ocean waves under the moonlit sky. To create this magical scenery, the Mother-of-Pearl dial has been adorned with azure and amethyst colors.
The dial of Kaguya Murasaki Blue watch takes inspiration from the beautiful hues of the sky throughout the day, transitioning from deep blue tones of dusk to sunlit shades with Murasaki Blue. To create this magical scene, Wancher has used a brighter blue dye on the mother of pearl dial base.
With the Dream Moonphase Kaguya Suigetsu Tsukimi model, the brand pays tribute to the moon-viewing festival known as Tsukimi or Otsukimi. This celebration of honouring the autumn moon (or gold moon) typically takes place on the 15th day of the eighth month of the traditional Japanese calendar.
This special edition timepiece captures the essence of Tsukimi traditions. The gold-toned moon-phase disc evokes the golden moon admired during the festival, which usually falls in September or October. Created by employing the traditional Raden technique, the mother of pearl dial is adorned with darker shades of white, blue, green, & purple.
Each Dream Moonphase Kaguya model is powered by a self-winding H7M01 Hangzhou Factory movement.
