Vacheron Constantin Malte Collection New Models

The iconic Malte collection by Vacheron Constantin, distinguished by its tonneau-shaped models, is now enriched with two exceptionally understated models displaying the hours, minutes and small seconds.

Certified by the Hallmark of Geneva, those models appear in a 36.7 x 47.6 mm case in either 18K white gold or 18K 5N pink gold. They feature an elegant slate-colored dial, giving a refined and original alternative to the silver-toned dial currently present in the Malte collection. The hour-markers and the Roman numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock, the collection’s signature features, are crafted from gold and hug the curves of the tonneau-shaped case.

The hours, minutes and small seconds hands are steadily driven by Calibre 4400 AS, which may be admired in action through the transparent caseback shaped to match the case. These new models are fitted with a Mississippiensis alligator leather strap secured by a gold half Maltese cross-shaped buckle.

In 1912, eager to make a clean break with the rounded shape of its pocket-watches, and impelled by an avant-garde spirit entirely in keeping with an era of progress, Vacheron Constantin became one of the first watch manufacturers to adopt tonneau-shaped cases.

Right from its appearance, this became an emblematic shape that would be associated over the following century with the most prestigious horological complications, interpreted in particular through the Malte collection.

The celebration in 2012 of this century of history provided the Manufacture with an opportunity to redesign its Malte collection and to enrich it with models featuring pure, refined lines.

They have been designed and crafted to accentuate the fact that the form watch continues to hold a place of its own – one of exclusivity, originality and sophistication – within Fine Watchmaking and to pursue its time honoured vocation at Vacheron Constantin.

With the Malte collection, Vacheron Constantin is paying tribute to more than a century filled with a wealth of tonneau-shaped creations, while celebrating its fundamental values based on classicism, elegance and technical mastery.
