Zannetti High Jewelry Masterpiece Collection – Fantastic Jewelry

The ZANNETTI high jewelry master piece collection combines the most challenging Italian gem-setting techniques from the jeweler’s bench with the highest skills of the Swiss watchmaking world. A collection exclusively made of unique pieces, real masterworks of fine jewellery combined with watchmaking expertise.

Zannetti High Jewelry Masterpiece Collection - Fantastic Jewelry

Each one of these amazing timepieces has taken days and weeks of labor to be produced. Master jewellers, designers, watchmakers, precious stone setters and engravers skillfully took turns to create these remarkable cases where precious stones are arranged to form rainbow colors. The movement is a Swiss made automatic caliber.

The beauty of a diamond’s sparkle is the result of how well it has been cut. The aspects of cut that contribute most to a diamond’s beauty are proportion, symmetry and polish. Although nature determines the characteristics of a piece of rough diamond, the hands of the master cutter release its fire and brilliance. When a diamond is cut to exacting proportions – neither too deep nor too shallow – light will reflect inside the stone from one mirror-like facet to another and reappear to the eye in a flash of spectral colors. Zannetti diamonds are cut and polished to maximize their beauty – even though such a strict standard requires sacrificing much more of a rough diamond’s weight.

Zannetti Special Edition Scuba Art – Chinese Zodiac, Year of the Pig Edition

The Chinese New Year started officially the 5th of February and it’s represented by the Pig icon, the last animal of the Chinese Zodiac. Zannetti has decided to celebrate this important festivity creating with the micro-painting technique a delightful pink pig on the dial of one of its most sporty exemplars, enriching it with rigorously handmade decorations, details and precious materials.

Appealing to the talent of his best artisans, Zannetti and his Scuba Art – Chinese Zodiac, is an example of artistic skills and haute horlogerie, considering the high quality of the engraving on the Corozo Basis and the micro-painting that was created to represent the topic on the dial, the New Year totem animal.

ZANNETTI

History of Riccardo Zannetti is the offspring of a great passion in the field of watchmaking born at the turn of the century when Carmine Zannetti, passionate fanatic of fine mechanics, gave life to that extraordinary adventure in technical perfection and design which is the essence of Zannetti’s creations today. He is succeeded by his son Mario Zannetti, a professor in design and an international artist in his own right.

His geometrical lines still influence today’s production, especially his passion for intricate mechanical workings. So Riccardo Zannetti has inherited an important cultural commitment to which he has skilfully united the talent and perfection of a great watchmaker with a special talent. His workshop has now been transformed into a modern design laboratory and he is one of the few people still carrying on a tradition that began 500 years ago whose aim is still that of spreading Italian creativity all over the world.

Zannetti  has  inherited  an  important  commitment, which  is  based  on  a  constructive,  conceptual  and uncompromising philosophy. The  technological  excellence  of  its  timepieces, along  with  the  art  expressed  by  Zannetti’s  skilful watchmakers and craftsmen, contributes in creating unique  and  highly  distinguishing  watches  that  are worldwide appreciated. Each watch created by Zannetti has its own soul, history and personality, proudly unique in its gender.

ZANNETTI DISCOBOLO

Since 1950s, all major watch manufacturers were confronted on a case type for watches that collectors and fans immediately renamed it “flying saucer (circular wing)” or “UFO”. The peculiarity is in the design, perfectly circular, accompanied by the complete absence of the loops. The strap engages below the actual case, so as to give the appearance of a flying saucer that is “backed” above the wrist. This construction ensures a great clean look, with visual attention that is focused on the dial, along with the ability to embellish the same case edges with engravings or precious stones.

Zannetti with DISCOBOLO reinvented the flying saucer, giving it a meaning typically classical and Roman. The incisions on the inner flange, the ones on the back  and even more the dial entirely made by hand in a translucent enamel, make it a very unique piece, the result of the best hand craftsmanship. Simple and sophisticated at the same time, it is a real high applied watchmaking piece, where creativity and craftsmanship contribute to the realization of a unique object of its kind. For the construction of each piece is required the intervention of real masters of art: the engraver, the enameller, the miniaturist, the watchmaker. The result is always unique, where each piece is different from all the others. The production will be “naturally” limited, because it will be hardly able to create more than two watches a month, about twenty per year.

Zannetti Scuba Art Piranha Mid-Size

Launched four years ago, the Piranha Scuba Art collection has succeeded to conquer the interest and the wrist of every lover of fine watchmaking technique, who don’t want to stop to the mere object, moreover represented to perfection, but demand something more, especially unique.

This is the real advantage of the Piranha, every single piece is different. It doesn’t exist and will not exist two equal pieces between them. The manual skills and the finishing touch of the dial, in fact it guarantees that every single product will be unique, inimitable, personal or even customized. The client can choose the type of manufacturing, from micro-painting to the champlevé, to enamel on mother of pearl.

When Zannetti speaks about complexity it’s because to realise a custom piece he needs, first of all, to know from the client what he has in mind to then transfer it on a handmade drawing. The following step is to adapt the drawing to the dial, considering that the central part is occupied by the hands and that generally he will need to apply at least three indexes: at 12, 6 and 9. At this point the drawing is sent to the client for approval and once satisfied with the result the job of art craft experts begins. An illustrator will draw on the dial; an engraver will engrave the base, if it’s in Corozo to imprint the subject otherwise will empty the base itself (same for the mother of pearl) to allow the application of the polychrome enamels. Then it will be time for the glazer or the micro-painter to realise the drawing. The final result is something totally original, unique and impossible to duplicate, even though many have tried.

The Piranha midsize will keep all of the specific techniques of the big brother, including the valve for the helium, with the only big difference on the diameter and on the thickness, which are both reduced. To highlight the bezel, now modular: the base stays in aluminium while the internal ring can be changed or substitute with a pavè of precious stones. The movement is mechanic-automatic, made in Switzerland to guarantee maximum reliability and precision.

ZANNETTI Magnificum Goat Limited Edition

Italian luxury watch maker Zannetti will present during the “6th Shanghai High-end Lifestyle Exhibition 2015” his brand new watch dedicated to the Art Collection. It is called “Magnificum Goat”, a watch unique in its genre produced in a very limited edition. The “Magnificum Goat” is characterised by a dial made out of ebanon wood engraved in bas-relief and then hand painted. It is an engraving done out of full wood where no mechanical work would ever be possible, but only thanks to the art of a maestro engraver and that of an artist, who with patience and great ability transforms a rough material into an art piece to be worn on a wrist.

The Magnificum is an important, masculine timepiece in stainless steel. The details are remarkably prepared: shaped lugs and embellished by a cuspid in their external part; back case closed by six screws with central glass to see the movement beneath. The watch mounts a mechanical movement, made in Switzerland, refined by Zannetti. The strap is in alligator Luisiana with a customized ardillon buckle.

The Goat (Chinese:羊) is the eighth sign of the 12-year cycle of animals that appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The sign is also referred to as the Ram or Sheep sign, since the Chinese word yáng is more accurately translated as Caprinae, a taxonomic subfamily which includes both sheep and goats. The Year of the Goat (alternatively, Year of the Sheep or Year of the Ram) is associated with the 8th Earthly Branch symbol,羊(wèi).

COMPASS ROSE
The compass rose is an old design element found on compasses, maps and even monuments (e.g. the Tower of the Winds in Athens, the pavement in Dougga, Tunis) and during Roman times ita was used to show cardinal directions and frequently intermediate direction. The “rose” term arises from the fairly ornate figures used with early compasses.  Older  sources  sometimes  use  the  term  “rosa  ventorum”, “compass star” or “stella maris” (“star of the sea”), to refer to the compass rose.

Early  forms  of  the  compass  rose  were  known  as  wind  roses,  since  no  differentiation was made between a directional point and the wind which emanated from that direction. Today, the term “wind rose” is often reserved for the object used by meteorologists to depict wind frequencies from different directions at a location.

Classical compass rose
The ancient Greeks originally maintained distinct and separate systems of points and winds. The four Greek cardinal points (arctos, anatole, mesembria and dusis) were based on celestial bodies and used for orientation.  The four Greek winds (Boreas, Notos, Eurus, and Zephyrus) were confined to meteorology. Nonetheless, both systems were gradually conflated, and wind names came to eventually denote cardinal directions as well. In his meteorological studies, Aristotle identified ten distinct winds: two north-south winds (Aparctias, Notos) and four sets of east-west winds blowing from different latitudes—the Arctic Circle (Meses, Thrascias), the summer solstice horizon (Caecias, Argestes), the equinox (Apeliotes, Zephyrus) and the winter solstice (Eurus, Lips). However, Aristotle’s system was asymmetric.

To restore balance, Timosthenes of Rhodes added two more winds to produce the classical 12-wind rose, and began using the winds to denote geographical direction in navigation. Eratosthenes deducted two winds from Aristotle’s system, to produce the classical 8-wind rose.  The Romans  (e.g.  Seneca,  Pliny)  adopted  the  Greek 12-wind  system,  and  replaced  its  names  with  Latin  equivalents,  e.g.  Septentrio, Subsolanus, Auster, Favonius, etc. Uniquely, Vitruvius came up with a 24-wind rose.

Mariner’s compass rose
In Europe, the Classical 12-wind system continued to be taught in academic settings during the medieval era, but seafarers in the Mediterranean Sea came up with their own distinct 8-wind system. The mariners used names derived from the Mediterranean lingua franca—the Italian-tinged patois among medieval sailors, composed principally of Ligurian, mixed with Venetian, Sicilian, Provençal, Catalan, Greek and Arabic terms from around the Mediterranean basin.

• (N) Tramontana
• (NE) Greco (or Bora)
• (E) Levante
• (SE) Scirocco (or Exaloc)
• (S) Ostro (or Mezzogiorno)
• (SW) Libeccio (or Garbino)
• (W) Ponente
• (NW) Maestro (or Mistral)

The exact origin of the mariner’s eight-wind rose is obscure. Only two of its point names (Ostro, Libeccio) have Classical etymologies, the rest of the names seem to be autonomously derived. Two Arabic words stand out: Sirocco (SE) from al-Sharq (east) and the variant Garbino (SW), from al-Gharb[disambiguation needed] (west). This suggests the mariner’s rose was probably acquired by southern Italian seafarers not from their classical Roman ancestors, but rather from Norman Sicily in the 11th to 12th centuries.[16] The coasts of the Maghreb and Mashriq are SW and SE of Sicily respectively; the Greco (a NE wind), reflects the position of Byzantine-held Calabria-Apulia to the northeast of Arab Sicily, while the Maestro (a NW wind) is a reference to the Mistral wind that blows from the southern French coast towards northwest Sicily.

ZANNETTI Art Collection – The Vitruvian Man

Italian luxury watch maker Zannetti enhances its Art collection by launching a new mechanical watch inspired from Leonardo da Vinci’s famous drawing The Vitruvian Man. This luxurious stainless steel timepiece, equipped with a high-quality and highly precise Swiss-made movement, is available in various enamel dial versions.

The Vitruvian Man (Le proporzioni del corpo umano secondo Vitruvio) is a drawing created by Leonardo da Vinci circa 1490. It is accompanied by notes based on the work of the architect Vitruvius. The drawing, which is in pen and ink on paper, depicts a male figure in two superimposed positions with his arms and legs apart and simultaneously inscribed in a circle and square.

The drawing and text are sometimes called the Canon of Proportionsor, less often, Proportions of Man. It is kept in the Gabinetto dei disegni e stampe of the Gallerie dell’Accademia, in Venice, Italy, under reference 228. Like most works on paper, it is displayed to the public only occasionally. The drawing is based on the correlations of ideal human proportions with geometry described by the ancient Roman architect Vitruviusin Book III of his treatise De Architectura.

Zannetti – Year of Horse (Art Collection Horse & Regent Collection Horse)

To celebrate the Chinese year of Horse, Italian watch maker Zannetti unveils two models respectively from his Art & Regent Collections.

Art Collection Horse
In Western countries, already in the Middle Age, new forms of art, other than traditional ones, began to be considered: painting, sculpture, architecture. Once abolished the ancient schemes, the artwork connected itself together with the concept of artistic creation seen as intellectual activity and created the discipline of art crafts.

Once removed any difference between goldsmiths,  miniature,  engraving,  chisel,  they are  today  equally  considered  authentic  forms  of art. This is why Zannetti decided to let his artists’ creativity to express freely with the Art Collection. A steel case, or in gold (under request), houses real little pieces of art: cameos in blue agate playing around chromatic divergences and three-dimensional surfaces. The results are authentic unique pieces, since no dial is ever perfectly alike another.

ZANNETTI GAMBLER

Zannetti’s Gambler is a talisman watch, designed to become the loyal partner of players dealing with the gambling table. Perfectly impenetrable by the cigar’s smoke and resistant to whisky’s drops, the Gambler guarantees a self-sufficiency of charge long enough to live safely the long nights spent together with friends and checks.

The result is a recreational watch, at the same time elegant and refined, perfect to be worn during the day, but also to arouse captivating feelings once observed in detail in its original dial. Technically speaking different professions and crafts can here be noticed: the engraver producing the depiction on the rehaut; the enameller coating the four suits of Poker engraved on the rehaut and the “roulette” flush that follows the hours’ perimeter; finally, the watchmaker that decentralizes the timing of minutes and hours.

The difficulties linked to the creation of the dial dictate a limited and numbered production.

Tsavorite or Tsavolite got his name from the Tsavo National Park, at the border between Kenya and Tanzania, where it was discovered for the first time and where the sole and few known mines are located. It is a very rare variety of the garnet group species of green colour, discovered and used in jewellery in relatively recent times.

In 1967, British gem prospector and geologist Dr. Campbell R. Bridges discovered for the first time a deposit of green tsavorites in the mountains of north-eastTanzania in a place called Lemshuko. The specimens he found were of very intense colour and of a high transparency. Their commercial diffusion was delayed because the Tanzanian government did not provided permits of exporting the stones.

Believing that the deposit was a part of a larger geological structure extending possibly into Kenya, Bridges began prospecting in that nation. He was successful a second time in 1971, when he found the mineral variety there, and was granted a permit to mine the deposit.

Rare in gem-quality over several carats in weight, the tsavorite has been found in larger sizes. It is a stone that can vary in colour from light to dark green, very brilliant and hard like emeralds, but more resistant and for this reason easier to be cut. Its constitution makes it particularly suitable for the so-called “invisible” embedding.

ZANNETTI WheelOrgy

Despite sometimes almost excessively serious, watchmaking, especially when top quality, has often ventured the “private” world of the Eros. Erotic watches, frequently embellished by mechanisms, could already be found in the past in pocket or portable models, as the spectacular “The Alliance between Love and Wine” dated 1810 and ascribed to Piguet & Capt, one of the watchmaking masters of that period; or “The Virtues of Perfect Governance”, dated the same epoch, attributed to the Genivan Isaac Daniel Piguet.

From then on, countless were the watches made with an erotic subject, created by expert artisans or famous manufacturers who in the Calvinist Switzerland not always used to sign them. In any case, owing one of the above creations has always been a distinctive mark, a more hilarious way to wear at your own wrist not only a beautiful watch, but also your more or less hidden passions.

ZANNETTI already managed to illustrate such a delicate topic with great elegance in the past, when more than 15 years ago he created the BrainOrgy, a model meant to become, between all, one of his best buy. In that case, little stylized figures represented the erotic theme with their totality building and resembling a brain. Once worn, the Brain Orgy used to loose any erotic evidence which could only be understood with an accurate look of the dial.

Today ZANNETTI re-experiences this constructing methodology presenting the WheelOrgy. In this model the two biggest men’s passions are placed together: cars, represented by the stylized wheel on the dial, with its rays from the ‘30ies and the big central hub; and Eros, once again exhibited with its infinite stylized human figures performing the most usual-and-non loving positions.

The result is an erotic watch at the same time elegant, perfect to be worn during all the day, but also to arouse pleasing emotions once the dial is examined with more attention.

Many exclusive Zannetti’s creations are now available online for the first time. Zannetti, the Rome-based watch and jewellery designer, an artist with over 30 years of experience delivering masterful works of precious timepieces, has officially launched his e-commerce website.

The website features his principal collections: including the latest Magnificum and Piranha, as well as ZANNETTI’s jewels and cufflinks collections.

Using the world as a launching pad, ZANNETTI now presents his masterpieces, based on Swiss movements and uniquely realised with the most exquisite of gemstones, noble metals, enamels and artistic techniques.

ZANNETTI IMPERO Jewels Multicolor Limited Edition

During a long period of time lasting decades or even centuries, watchmaking has been seen exclusively as a serious and traditional industry. The grey valleys of Switzerland, covered almost all-year round by snow, were not the ideal lands to give birth to lively, colourful, bright and up-to-date timepieces.

On the contrary, Zannetti has transformed watches in instruments to express positive feelings and vibrations during the day or to show a man’s or woman’s own independence and creativity. The sun and colours of Rome constitute the surrounds of a unique watch: The Jewels Multicolor of the Impero Collection. Its precious stones portray an image every time different and unique.

ZANNETTI Piranha Collection

Italian Jewellery and Luxury watch designer Zannetti unveils the Piranha Collection, which offers significant, aggressive and professional grade diving watches.  Named after the world’s most aggressive fish, the Piranha diving timepiece wraps around the wrist and transforms itself into a perfect companion during dives down to considerable depths; specialists will no doubt appreciate the automatic helium valve, a distinguishing mark common to all the top diving watches. But it is with the dial that the Piranha shows off its most exciting features. Zannetti has transformed a drawing he has produced into a precious polychrome champlevé decoration based on various marine shades of blue.

Champlevé is an enamelling technique in which cells are carved with a chisel on the metal plate (dial), and filled with vitreous enamel. The piece is then fired until the enamel melts, and when once cooled the surface of the object is polished. Enamel is a vitreous material composed of silica, feldspar, kaolin and metal oxides, in the form of crystals. These metal oxides are either naturally occurring or added by a master artisan, and they are what give enamels their infinite variety of colors. The mixture is then vitrified at very high temperature.

Zannetti Time of Drivers “Racing Edition” Full Black

The endless research carried on by ZANNETTI’s experts and the constant cooperation with the best italian and international laboratories allowed to improve a metal plasma processing, the PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition).

This enabled the brand to develop a low temperature oxidation on the watchcase. To be more precise, we are speaking about the formation of functional groups on the surfaces to obtain a black finishing creating a great aesthetic and visual impact, but also with a major hardness compared to the initial state of the metal, with a low coefficient of friction, antiprinting and biocompatible.

So this is how the ZANNETTI’s Racing Edition transforms itself in a powerful instrument for time keeping, suitable for any use, perfectly in line with modern and dynamic lifestyle.

Zannetti Squelette XL Collection

Back in the late Seventies, some of the most skillful Swiss watchmakers, aware of the impact of mechanical movements, continued to invest time and resources in keeping up the manual traditions of their craft. It was for this reason that they went back to adopting an outstandingly beautiful watchmaking technique: the skeleton watch.

Today, Zannetti has made these watches even more fascinating, not only from a mechanical point of view but also from a formal aesthetic point of view. The Squelette XL is the first Zannetti watch with a skeleton movement, but also the first mechanical watch in the world to have a blue PVD treatment. It is a unique, personal model which delights from the instant you see it and is just made to be worn on the wrist.

For all those people that have attempted the difficult art of making a watch that holds a squelette movement inside, the main topic has always been to reduce the “time marker”: its movement. It should be reduced to the minimum size eliminating all superfluous parts, showing bridges and wheels and revealing the simple and beautiful way of “time sliding”.

For the maison Zannetti doing all the above mentioned was a necessary if not required approach. In fact, as long as we can remember his cases have always been patiently hand engraved and often present complicated decorations on them that take a long time to make. Sometimes he also adds a finishing touch of enamel. It’s also unavoidable to turn your attention to the mechanics of the watch. That’s the way the Squelette model is created.

A small but meaningful jewel of fine mechanics. Equipped with a sophisticated Swiss automatic winding mechanical movement, entirely “squelette shaped”, engraved and therefore completed with a blue pigment. It represents the premier passion that Zannetti has for the Haute horologerie.

Zannetti Regent Regatta Champlevé Enamels Dial Limited Edition

The enameling technique applied on metal objects, introduced about 2800 years B.C. and having its roots in ancient Egypt, goes closely hand in hand with glass history being composed by substances richly found in nature and largely spread.

However, it is commonly known that the Egyptians’ expertise was related only to the technique of coloured glass, best known as millefiori (multi-coloured glass), and vitreous paste which was used for decorating jewellery, by means of special putties that cleaved it on the metal surface; the turning-point came with the Romans who introduced the hot-work process, which will be carried on unchanged up to our days.

Since decades ZANNETTI displays different enamelling techniques for his dials. For example, in the new Regent the dials unfold the champlevé enamelling. It is worthwhile to remember that the Twelfth century is considered the golden age of furnishings decorated with champlevé enamel.

In all Europe, from 1150 to 1250, the master goldsmith-enamellers crafted in their workshops an outstanding amount of liturgical objects, which were created following this complicated technique. To realize a champlevé enamel dial you must first carve the desired design, with a hard pencil, on the surface of a metal plate which must be at least two millimetres thick.

Subsequently the design is hollowed out and uncarved with a stylet (in matter of fact champlevé means literally raised field) creating the layout, one millimetre thick, for the enamel. The verges of this hollow shall have to be refined in order to obtain a perfect and flawless result. By means of a spatula the hollow is filled with enamel. The plate will process a first heat-treat, and then undertake other heat-treatments in the oven until the dial shall display the final outcome.
