Victorinox Swiss Army Alliance Mechanical 2014 Edition

Victorinox Swiss Army Alliance is an elegant and sober watch boasting the best elements of Swiss-Made mechanical watchmaking. This year’s model is equipped with a self-winding ETA 2824 movement, famous for its robustness and reliability. An important detail marks the evolution of the 2014 edition: as a signature, the second hand now sports the famous Victorinox red, as does the “Automatic” inscription on the dial. The Alliance is available with two dials, dark gray or eggshell, and two bracelets, polished and satined steel or ecologically tanned black leather.

The lines are classic and clean. Alliance goes back to the basics and focuses on its primary function: to display the time as accurately and clearly as possible. To perform this task, the watch is equipped with an ETA 2824 mechanical automatic movement, among the most robust and reliable in Swiss watchmaking.

To accompany this high-quality engine, Victorinox Swiss Army has selected only the finest components. The stainless steel case is a generous 40 mm in diameter. On its dial, every detail has been designed to ensure at-a-glance legibility. The polished, pyramid-shaped indexes subtly catch and reflect the light. They alternate with Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. As on all the brand’s watches, the Swiss cross emblem stands proudly at 12 o’clock.

The sword-shaped and faceted hour and minute hands are topped with a second hand whose counterweight suggests the iconic shape of the Swiss Army Knife. It bears the famous Victorinox red, as does the “Automatic” inscription at 6 o’clock, just above the date window. Another brand signature — military time — is discreetly embossed at the edge of the indexes, so as not to disturb the aesthetic harmony of the whole.

Alliance is available with two dial options: dark gray or eggshell. The tones are highlighted by a delicately brushed sunray finish. Two bracelet choices are offered: polished and satined steel or an ecologically tanned black leather strap, both equipped with folding clasp.

Victorinox Swiss Army Alpnach Mechanical 2014 Edition

Victorinox Swiss Army is issuing three new three-hand models of its popular Alpnach collection. Masculine, sporty and stylish, they remain true to the DNA of the famous collection, which takes its name from the Swiss Army’s Alpine air base — home of the legendary Cougar AS 532 helicopter.

Sleek, sporting and masculine, the three new Alpnach Mechanical models are based on the legendary Cougar AS 532 helicopters of the Swiss Army, which are stationed at the base in Alpnach, in the heart of Switzerland. Each honours the key values that have forged the reputation of a brand founded in 1884: Swiss quality, functionality, innovation and design.

Synonymous with power and character, Alpnach watches are designed for extreme situations. The dials resemble instrumentation panels. In flight, a pilot must be able to obtain important information in a single glance. Dials, counters and displays must be perfectly legible.

The simple and uncluttered dial is divided into three concentric circles: hour markers on the outside of the flange, then the minute digits, and finally an indication of military time. The rotating bezel is engraved with a countdown. The luminescent hour and minute hands stand out from the other markings and are effortlessly easy to read. The second hand is embellished with a green or red colored tip. On the see-through case back is another eye-catching detail: the oscillating weight with four blades, just like the AS 532 Cougar helicopter.

The first model features Victorinox’s iconic red on the flange, the tip of the second hand and the leather and ballistic nylon strap. The other two models are all-black, with a ballistic nylon and leather strap or a black PVD steel bracelet.

The new editions in the collection have the same aesthetics as the original Alpnach: very graphic design; steel case with black PVD coating; all-black or charcoal grayand black dial for easy reading; and a Swiss Made mechanical movement with automatic winding.

The engine of this machine is an automatic winding ETA 2824 movement, housed inside a 44mm stainless steel case. The black PVD coating enhances its technical and masculine appearance. The strong character and design of these uniquely constructed watches are sure to appeal to everyone who knows Victorinox.

Victorinox Swiss Army Infantry GMT

After the recent launch of three editions in golden steel, the 2014 Infantry collection is expanding again, this time with a very useful GMT model. The ideal complication for long distance travellers, the Infantry GMT is equipped with a quartz movement and available with a steel mesh bracelet or an ecologically tanned leather strap.

In addition to indicating the time and date, the Infantry GMT also indicates a second time zone of the wearer’s choosing. This is a much appreciated complication for world travellers, as it allows one to track local time and the hour back at home. Along with the dial’s hour, minute and second hand is a red central hand marking the hour in the second time zone. The second time zone numbers are engraved on the bezel, with the number 24 printed in red at noon in Victorinox red, the same iconic colour used on many of the brand’s classic knife cases.

In every way, Infantry GMT remains faithful to the qualities that have made the line a success. The 40mm stainless steel case retains its fluid and clean lines. Stylistic references are principally drawn from the world of military watches, but it also has retro appeal. This is particularly evident in the design of the indexes, which are inspired by old typewriter fonts.

Infantry GMT is powered by Swiss Made Ronda 515 quartz movement and comes with an ecologically tanned brown leather strap or a Milanese-style steel bracelet.

Victorinox Swiss Army Dive Master 500

To celebrate its 25th anniversary as a Swiss watchmaker, Victorinox Swiss Army is launching a limited and numbered titanium edition of its famous diving watch. In a first for the Dive Master collection, the 500 pieces in this exclusive 43mm model are powered by a mechanical chronograph movement with automatic winding.

Robustness, reliability and functionality: these are the main qualities of all Victorinox Swiss Army watches. However, Dive Master 500 is especially emblematic of this philosophy: exceptionally tough, it is designed to withstand the test of time. Tested by specialists who regularly communicate their experiences on the internet and in print, the model is ranked among the most reliable in its class. In short, to use a world famous metaphor, it is the “Swiss Army knife” of dive watches.

To mark its 25th anniversary in the watch business, the brand is producing a special Dive Master in a limited edition of 500 with several exclusive new features: the 43mm case is in grade 2 titanium, sandblasted mat gray. The treatment also embellishes the titanium bracelet. The dial is in the same monochrome grey, which gives the chronograph a particularly strong graphic look.

The specifications and indications necessary for working in an aquatic environment have not been forgotten. Instead, they have been strengthened in an unprecedented way by the generous use of luminescent material on the indexes and hands, the flange on the right side, and on the 20-minute zone, and the contours of the counters at 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock. Finally, on the unidirectional rotating bezel, the 20 minute scale is also specially marked. A subtle and original detail is sure to appeal to aficionados: the luminescent material covering these two important areas, which at first glance is not different from that used on the rest of the watch, changes colour in the dark, turning blue while the other indications remain green.

Especially noteworthy is the striking “Swiss Army Knife” red on the helium valve at 9 o’clock on the case middle, and the chronograph second hand.  This Swiss Made watch is equipped with an ETA 2894-2 mechanical self-winding movement, visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. This proven caliber makes the Dive Master not only a genuine diving chronograph, but an indispensable companion for everyday life.

Victorinox Swiss Army – The Original (New Versions)

The Original, the iconic watch of Victorinox Swiss Army, dons a new look in 2013. Still military-inspired, monochrome in tone and effortlessly easy to read, it is now modernized and urbanized by a new modular leather strap. The color is reminiscent of the case of the original Swiss Army Officer’s knife. The chronograph version, in a limited series of 1989 pieces, is endowed with an additional element: a removable hood, also in leather, that can completely encase it.

The Original occupies a special place among the watch collections of Victorinox Swiss Army. It is the very first model of the watchmaker house, launched in the United States in 1989. Since, it has never left the catalog, rising to the rank of a true icon. It has constantly evolved over the years, yet has always maintained the strengths and values of the brand: simplicity, clarity, assertive design, superior quality, durability and attractive price.

The Original now comes in two forms. The Original is a watch with three hands and a date window, animated by a Ronda quartz movement. The Original Chronograph has three central hands, date window at 4 o’clock, three sub-dials and an ETA quartz chronograph movement.

The military origin and monochrome color of the two models in no way gives them a severe aspect. On the contrary, subtle details indicate that they have long since left the wrist of soldiers for those of active urbanites seeking a more contemporary and versatile watch. The brushed aluminum bezel gives a trendy touch. The second hand (central seconds hand) is adorned with a delicate touch of orange. Finally, the NATO fiber strap has been replaced by a stylish twopiece leather (Original) or three-piece (Original Chronograph) strap, giving a completely new look.

In both versions, the natural leather strap can be worn in the traditional way, or else with the addition of a cuff that fits over the base strap with two loops. The chronograph – a limited and numbered series of 1989 pieces (the number refers to the year of birth of the first model) – has an additional design element: a removable hood, also in leather, covering the housing assembly. This casing is a nod to the military wristwatches of the first half of the 20th century, which were protected by a grille or a lid. Today, it is a stylish accessory. The two- and three-part straps also pay homage to Victorinox’s famous Swiss Army Officer Knife, whose original case was manufactured in leather of the same color.

The watch’s military DNA is also expressed through its 40mm “dark grey” case, forged in an ultra-shock-proof nylon whose lightness is only matched by its robustness. The crown protection indicates that this is watch capable of enduring harsh conditions. The dial design has been conceived to provide maximum legibility. Indexes and numerals are oversized and look stencil drawn – like the lettering on a box of ammunition. Recessed and covered with luminescent material, they stand out with great clarity. The Original model also displays military time. The Original Chronograph version features three counters (1/10th of a second, 60 seconds and 30 minutes) and the traditional buttons on the right side.

VICTORINOX SWISS ARMY Chrono Classic 1/100th

The Chrono Classic will most certainly be the standout star of Victorinox Swiss Army’s exciting lineup for 2013. The newest version of this perennial best-seller has undergone a full metamorphosis, both aesthetically and technically. First and foremost, its new quartz movement transforms it, with a double press of the crown, from a classic watch into a chronograph accurate to 1/100th of a second. In a first for this type of movement, the 1/100th of a second is displayed numerically, by means of two rotating discs. Two new dial colours complete the transfiguration of the Chrono Classic into a genuine multi-tasking tool of sober styling and intelligent functionality.

The Chrono Classic continues to evolve but remains faithful to its genetic code. The dimensions and lines that have made it one of the brand’s bestsellers are still in place; we recognize at first glance the fluid forms of its case and elegantly designed horns, and the oblong buttons on both sides of the crown. However, a radical transformation has taken place at the very heart of the watch, and in the way it performs its many functions. The Chrono Classic is now a “three-way” watch, an innovative tool of sober design, as simple to use as the famous Swiss Army knife that inspired it.

By simply pressing the crown twice, the classic watch turns into a chronograph accurate to 1/100th of a second. That simple gesture realigns the three central hands at 12 o’clock, while the date indicator at 6 o’clock becomes a counter at zero position. To start the chronograph, in the traditional manner, simply press the button at 2 o’clock. The red central hand then displays the seconds, while the others count out the minutes and hours. The same operation stops the time measurement–the 1/100th of a second shows in the window at 6 o’clock. A second pushbutton at 4 o’clock resets the chronograph.

The technical prowess of the Chrono Classic does not stop there. You can go back to the normal way of reading time even while the stopwatch is running. A double-click on the crown and “voilà”. Simple and ingenious, the mechanism is a feature of the chronograph’s Swiss Made FM13D quartz movement by Soprod, with whom Victorinox Swiss Army worked closely to develop the watch.

The 1/100th of a second’s numerical display–by means of two rotary discs arranged on the lower portion of the dial–is truly novel, representing, for this type of movement, nothing short of a world first, both technically and aesthetically. The large date, a perpetual calendar, is also a first for the movement.

The guilloché decoration on both discs, a clear reference to the shape and casing of the Swiss Army Officer’s Knife, is a tribute to the origins and values of the Victorinox brand. The discs’ rotation corresponds to those of the knife’s folding blades. Other stylistic elements echo the famous multi-purpose tool, such as the indexes and the counterweight of the red central second hand. With its ease of use, the knife has become an icon. Inspired by this philosophy and functionality, this model is sure to become an icon of simplicity.

These numerous winks to the past do not preclude a daring modernity: The Chrono Classic this year comes with dials and bezels in original monochrome colours. The two colour options are nuanced in very different ways: for a stronger sporty style, “dark grey” (“Black Ice” PVD) with a black leather strap (biologically tanned) or metal bracelet; or, for a more urban and audacious look, champagne (gold PVD) with a brown leather strap or metal bracelet.

Victorinox Swiss Army MAVERICK (New Versions)

The Maverick watch by Victorinox Swiss Army now has a restyled and refined dial emphasizing readability, and the collection has a cast of bold new colours: chocolate, green, blue and red, mostly in monochrome. The Maverick remains true to the codes and values of Victorinox Swiss Army, while leveraging these to assert a stronger and more audacious identity: among the offers is a two-tone bracelet (steel/gold PVD) and a gold PVD-coated steel case. All versions are powered by Swiss Made Ronda quartz movements.

Victorinox Swiss Army’s mission in 2013 is to bring a touch of lustre to one of the bestselling models in its catalogue without altering the identity codes that have made it successful. The Maverick remains the Maverick, with its lines and proportions unchanged. The affordable price is the same, too, but the watch has new audacity and freshness.

While the Maverick retains some of its sporty character, it also explores new territories, expressing a more urban character, marked in particular by mostly monochrome tones. The colours are emblematic of the style that the brand has been championing for several years now. This year, other colour combinations are also ventured, such as a gold PVD-coated steel case, and a two-tone metal bracelet in steel and gold PVD.

At Victorinox Swiss Army, creative inspiration is reflected in a series of subtle details which, when added together, contribute to a harmonious overall effect. Here, the bold evolution of the Maverick is first visible on the sleeker dial, which gives it greater readability. Some markings have been replaced by diamond polished indexes.

Differences in depth and surface treatment – sandblasted and circular satin-polishing – provide more clarity and brilliance. Finally, the model comes in a new range of colours, with matching lacquered unidirectional bezels and, in some versions, matching rubber straps.

The first of the four new colours is a deep green, paired with two-tone gold PVD steel case and bracelet or a monochrome rubber strap. Next up is the blue version, with steel case and bracelet or blue rubber strap. The chocolate version has a gold PVD-treated steel case and bracelet, or a dark brown rubber strap. Each available in two sizes: 43 mm and 34 mm.

Finally, there is the red version, which directly echoes the Swiss Army Knife from Victorinox, emphasizing that the watches share the same heritage and values as the brand’s other products. This last variant is only available in 43 mm, with case and bracelet in stainless steel. The four new colours in the collection – four tones borrowed from the Swiss landscape – profoundly mark the Maverick’s new identity. They express an ideal of purity and make the watch a companion perfectly in tune with modern life.

Victorinox Swiss Army INFANTRY Collection (New Versions)

The Infantry collection by Victorinox Swiss Army boasts military inspiration but has many other advantages to highlight. Demonstrating the line’s maturity, the 2013 collection as a whole remains classic and timeless. The lines of the different watch models have evolved towards greater fluidity. Every element contributes to the maximum readability of the dial. Two new bracelets – an organic black leather strap and a Milanese-style bracelet of stainless steel mesh – complete the set. The result is a fully rejuvenated new look.

In the past, watches for soldiers had to have very specific qualities. They had to display a robustness, optimal ergonomics and perfect legibility, even in the toughest conditions. Faithful to their original spirit, the models of the 2013 Infantry collection have inherited these advantages, plus many others. Without betraying its roots, the collection has evolved and adapted to the stylistic trends of today.

We can see this change at first glance. Compared to previous versions, the curve of the box is smoother, more fluid. From the side, the silhouette is reminiscent of the Victorinox Officer’s knife. On the dial everything has been done to facilitate reading. A new font, inspired by old typewriters, gives the watch a vintage touch. The hands have been slightly elongated. Numbers, indexes and hands are, as before, covered with luminescent material.

The models are available with two bracelet choices: an organic black leather strap or – in a first for Victorinox Swiss Army – a stainless-steel Milanese-type mesh bracelet. Easy-to-adjust, flexible, thin and elegant, the steel bracelet transforms the timepiece, giving it a more urban, jewelry and feminine look. All these elements contribute to the rejuvenation of the Infantry family, whose aim is to offer watch enthusiasts a choice of classic products at affordable prices.

At the entry level, Victorinox offers a three hands version simply called Infantry, with a date window and Ronda 715 quartz movement. It has a small additional detail on its dial: military hours discreetly printed above the classic numerals. For those who prefer fine mechanics, there is the Infantry Mechanical, with a self-winding ETA 2824-2 movement. Finally, for fans of sports watches, there is the Infantry Chronograph, outfitted with a Ronda 5030-D quartz movement. It displays three counters on the dial, as well as traditional pushbuttons to the right of the case middle on each side of the protected crown.

All three models are waterproof to 100 meters and have a 40 mm case–signs that they cater to everyone, both men and women, and are true companions for everyday life. Swiss made.

Victorinox Swiss Army Night Vision New Version

Launched in 2003, the Night Vision is a perennial bestseller from Swiss watch brand Victorinox Swiss Army. This timepiece has an in built light system to light up the dial in dark conditions. In 2012, the brand introduced an updated version of this wristwatch.

The new edition is subtly designed along very classic Swiss lines, with a round, wide-open dial face and narrower bezel. Traditional codes are respected; there are no superfluous elements, no show-off gadgetry. The timepiece’s  pioneering  lighting  features  are  seamlessly  incorporated  into  the  sleek  dial  and bracelet  design.

The fluid crown protectors are echoed on the other side of the broad, 42mm case. The result is an increased dynamism to the design, and a purer aesthetic balance. Loaded with exclusive features, soberly masculine in proportion and feel, the Night Vision looks like what it is: a Swiss-made watch of the highest quality and refinement.

The new edition builds upon the original’s exclusive design features — the integration in a watch of low consumption LED light modules for dial illumination, flashlight and strobe functions.  The difference, however, is the new seductively streamlined appearance, which seamlessly incorporates advanced lighting features into the classic codes of a Swiss watch.

Three dial versions are available: charcoal grey dial with silver ring and steel bracelet; silver dial with  dark  grey  ring  and  steel  bracelet;  and  silver  dial  with  dark  grey  ring  and  brown ‘aviator’ leather  strap  with  beige  stitching  and  buckle.

The metal bracelets are equipped with butterfly deployment buckles. Other features include: Swiss-made movement; stainless steel case with screwed-in  back;  shatter-resistant  hardened  sapphire  crystal;  easy-read  date  window  at  6 o’clock; and water-resistance to 50 meters.

Victorinox Swiss Army Dive Master 500 (Edition 2012)

The Dive Master 500 is authentic Swiss Army grade: direct and straightforward, with the critical attributes of a diving instrument, the uncompromising values of a trusted Swiss brand, and the distinct character of a watchmaking modern classic.

In 2012 the brand re-launched this rugged timepiece with a dramatic sea change. Sleeker and more graphic, with a stronger, more immediate identity, the new Dive Master 500 collection combines resolute Swiss Army reliability and robustness with a very contemporary versatility.

While the softer organic colour options — black, burgundy, brown, grey, khaki green and white —are drawn from nature; the classic round case is coated in “Black Ice” or gold PVD, as are the horns and the extremely graphic bezel. The innovative coating is a signature feature of Victorinox Swiss Army.

The dial design is uncluttered, with fine vertical lines across the entire face except for a clean circle at the center indicating military time. The unidirectional bezel 20, 30 and 50 minute markings stand out thanks to the oversized Arabic numerals.

The rubberized soft-touch background absorbs the light, creating striking contrasts with the raised and luminous baton and orb hour markers and iconic Victorinox shield.

The minute hand, so crucial in measuring diving autonomy, is arrow-shaped; on some models it is bright orange — the splash of colour gives a fresh and modern look.

Different case sizes and colours are available: 4 quartz models in black, burgundy, khaki green (with gold PVD coating) or white, with a 38mm case size, 2 quartz models in white or khaki green with a 43mm case; and 3 grey , red or brown mechanical editions, also 43mm.

Shockproof and water resistant to 500 meters (1,640 feet), the Dive Master 500 is a stylish watch of outstanding quality.

Victorinox Swiss Army AirBoss

The inspiration for the AirBoss line is the countdown commander of an aircraft carrier — the “air boss” officer who decides every take-off and landing time.

The 2011 AirBoss pays fitting homage to this inspirational source. Simpler in its overall design to its predecessors, and slightly smaller in size (42mm), it marks a return to basics, to fundamental values. Function rules design, reflecting the spirit of an age where a new modesty prevails. The look — three hands, three circles of digit tracks, a date window at 6 o’clock— emphasises readability and functionality. The lines are sharp and clean. Every detail is sober, serious and stripped down. The finishes are superlative. Above all, precision and functionality are the governing forces.

The AirBoss is a classic example of a “second-glance” timepiece featuring raised Arabic numerals, luminescent metal skeleton-frames, reminiscent of pilot issue designs and diamond-cut striations on the dial tracks. The overall effect is an unexpected richness, understated and deeply satisfying. Audacious in its simplicity, modern in its outlook, Swiss-mastered to a very reliable mechanical movement, the AirBoss is, as befits its name, a top-flight, no-nonsense precision instrument of the highest order.

VICTORINOX SWISS ARMY Alliance Collection (2011)

The Alliance line has steadily evolved since its earliest incarnations, yet the core values remain clearly and indelibly the same: serious, sober, function-driven design using Swiss-made components and crafted materials of the highest calibre.

This year’s new Alliance rollout emphasizes fluidity and dynamism. The lyre-shaped watch horns are elongated. Dial styles reflect the spare, essentialist design philosophy: lacquered black but not glossy; silver, satin-finished, with a sunray effect subtly catching the light; or slate grey and matte-finished. Brand new is the presence of only three Arabic numerals on the dial face — at three, six and nine o’clock.

Elsewhere, raised and sharp-edged markers indicate the hour. The date window is at six on the watch and angled between four and five on the chronograph. Soft leather for the strap or a classic bracelet in three-link steel, with alternating finishes or understated colour variants.

The result is a line of classic timepieces built on a heritage of ingenuity and precise attention to detail, with a distinctively modern twist.

Victorinox Swiss Army Victoria

Introduced in 2011, this elegant feminine watch line from Victorinox Swiss Army is named after the mother of the house’s founder. The seamless integration of the bracelet makes it fluid as it smoothly follows every movement of the wrist. The half-moon shapes of the case connecting together the bracelet linking symmetries with the uncluttered dial give the Victoria a versatile elegance. Accessibly priced, rich to the touch and the eye, it is the perfect watch for all day wear.

Victorinox Swiss Army has paid great attention to detail in the design of this timepiece.  The natural dial colours — eggshell beige, charcoal grey or a warm shade of brown — as well  as mother-of-pearl were chosen to play down contrasts with the shimmering steel, which is finely  brushed and mirror polished. The muted palette heightens the watch’s sophistication.

The bracelet design plays a key role here: feeling weightless and extremely slender, its linking system is hidden from view. The links are uniquely hinged together, and the spherical middle part of the case, which meets the flat, rimless part of the bracelet, creates a subtle half-moon  shape.

Additionally, there is the play of textures and patterns on the dial. Off-centred sunrays starting at 12 o’clock draw attention to the famous logo of Victorinox Swiss Army. For added allure, a special diamond edition is offered, graced with56 Top Wesselton diamonds on the bezel. On most models the hour markers are luminescent dots set into rounded and polished cabochons.  The hands are shaped like leaves, sharp but rounded, and cleverly echoing the half-moon shape of the dial-bracelet junction. The overall effect is feminine, timeless and elegantly understated. Swiss Made.

Victorinox Swiss Army Alpnach Chrono Power Gauge Limited Edition

Victorinox Swiss Army launches a new aviation minded limited edition timepiece this summer, drawing inspiration from a very special aircraft of the Swiss Air Force: the Cougar AS 532 helicopter. This twin-engined multipurpose chopper combines sturdiness, reliability and functionality, qualities that embody the spirit of Victorinox Swiss Army watches.

The Alpnach Chrono Power Gauge Limited Edition is named after the Cougar helicopter base of the Swiss Air Force in Alpnach, at the feet of the Alps. Like the AirBoss Mach 6 Limited Edition before it, this new timepiece from the Professional Series of Victorinox Swiss Army is inspired by the technicality of the aviation world. The bezel, crown and chronograph pushers are coated with black PVD providing an additional protection to the stainless steel, a process widely used in aircrafts. The rotating bezel offers a 60- minute visual countdown function designed for precision time-tracking during operations.

The two signature features of the Alpnach Power Gauge Limited Edition are its four blade small second indicator at 9 o’clock, designed after the rotor of the Cougar helicopter, and the mechanical movement’s 42-hour power reserve, or “Power Gauge” indicator at 3 o’clock, inspired by cockpit instruments. This select timepiece is limited to 532 units worldwide, after the model number of the Cougar AS 532 helicopter.

Powerful, reliable and highly functional: so is the Cougar AS 532 helicopter of the Swiss Air Force, a twin- engined, multipurpose utility aircraft that remains operational in the toughest conditions. And so is the new Victorinox Swiss Army timepiece directly inspired by the Cougar AS 532: the Alpnach Chrono Power Gauge Limited Edition.

Named after the helicopter base of the Swiss Air Force in Alpnach, at the feet of the Alps, this aviation-minded limited edition is packed with the kind of outstanding sturdiness, functionality and reliability that Swiss Army gears stand for. Its robust mechanical self-winding movement drives a chronograph with 1/4th of a second precision, which has been enhanced with an exclusive “Power Gauge” complication. The latter keeps track of the 42-hour power reserve of the movement, and is materialized by an indicator at 3 o’clock inspired by the look of cockpit instruments. It faces another outstanding feature of this model: the exclusive small second indicator shaped after the four blades of the Cougar helicopter.

In terms of functionality the Alpnach Chrono Power Gauge Limited Edition features a60-minute countdown function, activated by its unidirectional rotating bezel, and a tachymeter scale for speed measurement. Its special finishes include PVD coated bezel, crown and chronograph pushers on an otherwise brushed stainless steel case, as well as luxurious hand sewed, Swiss-made Barenia leather straps offering exceptional comfort.

Victorinox Swiss Army Pocket Watch Alarm 1884 Limited Edition

Inspired by the ingenuity of the Original Swiss Army Knife”: the motto underlying the philosophy of Victorinox Swiss Army’s timepieces has never been more appropriate. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of its parent company Victorinox, the maker of the Original Swiss Army Knife, the watch design team at Victorinox Swiss Army realized the old dream of combining a timepiece with the folding system invented for the Victorinox pocket knife in 1884.

Joining their forces, the technical teams of both the knife and watch divisions have managed to apply the principle of the retractable blade to the design of a stylish pocket watch. The resulting Pocket Watch Alarm features the same spring effect and “click” sound as the Original Swiss Army Knife, the same red side-panels made of sturdy MABS plastic composite, and even includes the famous toothpick and tweezers found in all Victorinox pocket knives.

The Pocket Watch Alarm sports a Swiss-made quartz movement with an alarm feature, activated by a pusher at 2 o’clock, a date calendar and the functional design and high legibility typical of all Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces. This very special model is limited in 1884 pieces worldwide in honor of the foundation’s year of Victorinox.

From pocket knife to pocket watch: representing the perfect embodiment the Original Swiss Army Knife’s ingenuity applied to watchmaking, the Pocket Watch Alarm features the same folding system as the famed Swiss pocket knife, with the exact same spring effect and “click” sound. Its springs are made of the same stainless steel as the Swiss Army Knife and its case is set in identical red side-panels made of sturdy MABS plastic composite, a specialized material with properties of excellent transparency, high impact strength and good chemical resistance. The side-panels even include the famous toothpick and tweezers found in all Victorinox pocket knives. The dial and side-panels adopt the red and yellow-gold jubilee colors of Victorinox 125th anniversary.

The front panel features the cross and shield logo in gold, while the back panel is stamped with Victorinox anniversary logo: “125 years, your companion for life”. This unique Pocket Watch sports a Swiss-made quartz movement with an alarm feature, activated by an on/off pusher at 2 o’clock, and a date calendar at 3 o’clock. Its highly legible dial and hands are in the true spirit of Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces.

Victorinox Swiss Army New AirBoss Collection

The new AirBoss collection offers wider dial openings and redesigned numerals for optimal legibility, while retaining the exclusive visual countdown feature characteristic of this aviation inspired line. Highlight of this year’s new collection are the remodeled mechanical AirBoss Mach 4 and quartz chronograph Mach 3 models.

Both feature a specialty first introduced by Victorinox Swiss Army five years ago: a clockwise rotation of the movement allowing for enhanced functionality. On the Mach 3 for instance the 180° rotation puts the start/stop chronograph pusher at 8 o’clock for optimal thumb operation.

AIRBOSS MACH 3

When it comes to precision timing on an aircraft carrier, no one is more important than the Air Boss: high above the flight deck in his eagle’s nest, the Air Boss oversees all catapulting, landing and aircraft movements. Tracking, counting down and measuring time are all vital to the many split-second decisions the Air Boss must make in directing the very precise activities on the flight deck.

AIRBOSS MACH 4

The AirBoss watch collection from Victorinox Swiss Army pays tribute to this central figure with aviation-inspired timepieces that combine technical performance with the power of functional design and high legibility.

AIRBOSS MACH 7

With models ranging from Mach 2 to Mach 7 and featuring mechanical and quartz movements, the AirBoss timepieces are distinguished by a unique special feature: a Visual Countdown function based on a bi-directional rotating inner bezel surrounding the highly legible dial. This function, operated by a separate crown at 2 or 3 o’clock depending on the models, allows the Air Boss to precisely track time between launches. Highlight of this year’s new AirBoss collection are the redesigned mechanical AirBoss Mach 4 and the quartz chronograph Mach 3.

AIRBOSS MACH 7

Both models feature a specialty first introduced by Victorinox Swiss Army: a clockwise rotation of the movement allowing for enhanced functionality. On the Mach 4, the small second’s 5 minutes shift to 7 o’clock offers room for an oversized counter with double-sided hands. On the Mach 3, the more radical 180° rotation puts the start/stop chronograph pusher at 8 0’clock for optimal thumb operation. This high-precision chronograph also features a 60-minutes central hand in addition to the regular 60-seconds central hand, allowing for instant and accurate legibility of short time measurements.

Victorinox Swiss Army – Infantry Vintage Limited Edition & Infantry Vintage Jubilee Edition

In 2009, Victorinox celebrates 125 years of Swiss ingenuity since its foundation in 1884, from the brand’s Original Swiss Army Knife introduced in 1891 to today’s versatile collections of cutlery, Swiss Army Knives, apparel, travel gear, and timepieces that exude the brand’s practical luxury positioning.

To mark this anniversary, each segment of the brand will issue special and limited edition products, all proudly emblazoned with the philosophy of all Victorinox products: “125 years, your companion for life”.

For Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces, 2009 provides yet another reason to celebrate: the 20th anniversary of the first Swiss Army timepiece. Since their inception in 1989,  Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces have been steadfast in the commitment to produce  high quality Swiss Made watches inspired by the intrinsic qualities of the Original Swiss  Army Knife: ingenuity, functionality and reliability.

A double anniversary calls for double the special edition product, so Victorinox Swiss Army is issuing two Special Edition models from its new Infantry Vintage collection: A Jubilee Special Edition, which will be produced exclusively in 2009, and a Limited Edition, with a unique combination of deep red and yellow gold dial coloration, which will be limited to 125 numbered pieces worldwide. Both models feature a commemorative engraving on the caseback with Victorinox’s anniversary seal, “125 years, your companion for life”, surrounded by the brands cross and shield logo.

 Infantry Vintage Limited Edition

The Infantry Vintage, with its mid-century retro-styling, takes inspiration from Victorinox’s roots of producing military-grade precision instruments. A key feature of that inspiration is the telemeter scale around the dial: together with the chronograph’s seconds hand, it enables the measurement of the distance between the sight and the sound of an event. Originally used in artillery, it can today be used for instance to measure the distance of an approaching storm by the time elapsed between the sight of a lightning and the sound of thunder.

Their special features and retro design make the Infantry Vintage Jubilee and Limited Edition true ambassadors of Victorinox’s 125 year heritage of providing precision instruments designed for optimal functionality, reliability and efficiency.

This anniversary model is an exclusive interpretation of the new Infantry Vintage line from Victorinox Swiss Army presented in 2008, with its large 44mm case and distinct 1940’s styling. However, the olive dial color, inspired by the U.S. Army Dodge trucks of World War II acquired in large numbers by the Swiss Army, has been replaced by a unique Victorinox red with yellow gold accents. The beautiful high-quality leather strap showcases the deep Victorinox red as well, with cream contrast stitching for a highly exclusive edition.  The Infantry Vintage Limited Edition features additional unique attributes that set it apart from the regular collection. First and foremost, the screw-in caseback is engraved with Victorinox’s anniversary seal, “125 years, your companion for life”, together with the brand’s  cross and shield logo and the limited edition number of the individual timepiece. The dial features the indication “Limited Edition” and “125 years”, as well as a distinctive yellow gold colored highlight of the 30 minutes chronograph sub dial and the telemeter scale.

The Infantry Vintage Limited Edition is a true emblem of the 125 years old roots of Victorinox, maker of the original Swiss Army Knife: a precision instrument designed for optimal functionality, reliability and efficiency.
