U-BOAT Sommerso Bronze

The new bronze version of U-BOAT’s professional dive watch, Sommerso, reflects the brand founder’s passion for diving as well as his enduring fervor for the ancient metal alloy.

Bronze is the first metal alloy that humankind learned to manipulate. Its history dates back to ancient times. It had been widely used in the maritime construction before the introduction of modern alloys.

Italo Fontana’s passion for diving gathered in this watch, designed to withstand the rigorous demands of professional diving in the first place, done the rest providing Sommerso with all the benefits coming from this metal inherently tied to maritime settings.

Highly resistant to seawater and to corrosion, harder than stainless steel and iron combined, often used in the arms industries, creating a patina, unique to each timepiece, evolving in different colors; these are just few of the characteristics intriguing Italo since ever.

This new creation is a nod to antique diving equipment worn by the earliest nautical divers. The natural oxidation of the material of the 46mm case creates a naturally aged look, often a unique one, extremely desirable by its wearer. Necessary for every pro-dive watch, it features a rotating unidirectional bezel with calibrated markers every five minutes interspersed with numbers every ten minutes from 10 to 50.

On its left side is the characteristic U-BOAT crown with a patented protective device. A Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the watch dial which is composed of three superimposed layers with the upper one in black with luminous beige hands and markers plus an additional counter for the 24 hours of the day and the date placed on the opposite side.

Each Sommerso dive watch houses a Swiss automatic mechanical movement, personalized to U-BOAT specifications featuring date, hours, minutes, seconds plus the 24 hours indicator.

U-BOAT DARKMOON

Following the idea explored first time with Capsoil model, the U-BOAT introduces a new collection of watches, Darkmoon.

In the new line, an oil bath completely immerses the electromechanics of the timepiece, the Ronda Swiss quartz movement. The oily liquid completely surrounds the dial turning it to an absolute black, reason why the collection is named Darkmoon, giving it a three dimensional and deep aesthetic. The obtained full color effects metaphorically push the wearer to explore his emotions in depth and in an amplified manner.

Italo Fontana, creative mind of U-BOAT, has always produced watches in limited or special editions commissioned also by Italian and international special forces, as recently those designed for the GIS (Special Intervention Group) of Carabinieri. Continuing on this tradition, the new exclusive 1938 Doppiotempo derives directly from the model created for the historic 9th parachutist assault regiment “Col Moschin”.

1938 Doppiotempo finds its uniqueness thanks to the link with the commemorative watch “Centouno”, strongly requested and launched on the occasion of the 101 years of their anniversary.

This is confirmed by this special unit, which has returned to choosing U-BOAT for its unconventional technical and design features that make it perfect for the most extreme missions and on liberty.

In a special edition of only 200 pieces, the watch boasts a 43 mm satin-finished steel case, with a retro look, with two extractable crowns on the left, one for the remittance of time and date, the other for adjusting the dual time and an ultra-domed bronzed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.

The watch houses a Swiss movement – with U-BOAT specifications – self-winding, with a 38-hour reserve. The dial is black, with a bidirectional inner bezel, with hours and 30 minute intervals that synchronises with the additional hand so as to display the two different time zones. The strap is in green leather with steel buckle. The water resistance is 100 meters.

Available in chronograph and solotempo versions, the CAPSOIL watch whose electro-mechanics is completely immersed in an oil bath revolutionises the concept of U-BOAT creations while retaining the brand’s strong exclusive personality.

The oily liquid, surrounding the dial, transforms it into an absolute black, making it three dimensional and deep. This fluid creates an ever-moving compensation bubble, as well as a surprisingly amplified view of the hands, which seem to float free as in absence of the glass.

The 45 mm diameter case, in the two steel versions, one with black DLC treatment, blends with the highest quality convex sapphire, from which beige spheres and indexes treated with
superluminova emerge.

Hermetic resistance at a pressure of 10 ATM is guaranteed by the back case fastened with screw and featuring a smoked mineral glass. The watch is finally equipped with a leather strap with innovative water-repellent lining, handcrafted by expert Florentine artisans.

U-BOAT expands their Classic collection with the new “Sommerso” models, watches designed for the needs of those who love diving.

Three models with 46 mm cases in steel completely hand finished. The Classico Sommerso is renewed in version 2.0, by enriching its dial with new details. Two other versions, one with a dial with blue superluminova indexes, another with an ultra-resistant black case treated with DLC, (Diamond like Carbon – innovative coating, based on carbon, that guarantees a high hardness and resistance to scratches) with a black dial and beige indexes also in superluminova.

All the versions are characterized by a special 24h counter, anti-glare sapphire crystal, integrated and calibrated lens for a better reading of the date.

Italian watch brand U-BOAT presents Doppiotempo, a new automatic model that can display two different time zones simultaneously. Dressed in a 46mm bronze case and a fitted with a bi-directional bezel, Doppiotempo boasts an additional hand that allows the wearer to read the time in two different time zones at the same time with no need of a proper GMT movement.

Waterproof to 100 meters depth, Doppiotempo is available in two versions, respectively with green and brown dial. The patented Crown release system at 8 o’clock is used for easy time and date setting. The watch houses a mechanical automatic movement with custom features.

Italo Fontana announces the launch of Stratos, the first U-BOAT watch with a “strategic” thickness.

Unlike the usual U-BOAT creations, Stratos is a watch with a smaller size and extremely flat. The Classico is no doubt one of the most iconic designs conceived by Italo Fontana. This time he unveils two versions of Classico, named Stratos, in sizes 45mm and size 40mm but scaled down to an unusual thickness respectively of 11,70mm and 9,50mm.

Both the Stratos watches are in stainless steel featuring distinguishing patented crown on left side, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is secured to the case through a bezel in polished tungsten, the hardest of all metals, and boasting a serial number plate is fixed on the side of the case.

The back of the case is sealed with seven external screws, opening U-shaped sapphire fumé crystal to admire the movement. The Stratos is hand winding in the version 40mm and automatic mechanical in the bigger version with an additional counter of the 24 hours of the day.

The dial is composed of two superimposed layers, in the version 45mm, and three layers in the smaller version with the upper one in black with luminous beige hands and indexes. Last but not least in both the Stratos models a handmade and hand-finished alligator leather strap, in black for the 45mm and dark brown for the 40mm, with stainless steel tongue buckle.
