REBELLION

REBELLION Timepieces is a high end Swiss watchmaker based in Lornay, Switzerland.  It was founded in 2008 by an industrialist passionate about watchmaking, high technology and car racing.  They are the only watch brand to have its own racing team, REBELLION Racing.  The expertise in technology and design garnered from the race team are integrated into every unique and complex timepiece.

Rebellion Timepieces made its debut at Baselworld 2008 with a spectacular set of five calibers, including a world premiere: a GMT Jumping Hour. Crafted in small quantities, Rebellion’s bespoke, precision-engineered cases and movements offer cutting-edge style to a select few. The five Rebellion watches unveiled were a manual wind with power reserve; a cam-lever chronograph; a column wheel chronograph; world premiere GMT Jumping Hour; and a stunning all-new tourbillon.

In 2009 Rebellion consolidated by appointing prestigious partners such as Laurent Besse for the conception of two new movements and Eric Giroud for the design of a new version of the original case. Baselworld 2009 was an unqualified success, with the establishment of the first markets and points of sale throughout the world. The tenacity and stubbornness of Rebellion’s founders had triumphed, and the same character traits can be found in the world of endurance car racing of Le Mans, another shared passion to which Rebellion is completely committed through the Swiss team, Rebellion Racing.

All of Rebellion’s research, development and production takes place in Switzerland, where the very highest standards are both demanded and obtained. Rebellion has total mastery of all facets of the development and manufacture of their timepieces. Rebellion blends highly sophisticated technical know-how and cutting-edge production facilities – including high-tech precision lasers and complex five-axis CNC machinery – with bold contemporary design and an uncompromising approach to quality.

Rebellion leads; their timepieces do not follow style or trends, and are for those who demand a very exclusive, high quality, high-tech wristwatch. The Rebellion family of contemporary timepieces share common traits in terms of their highly sophisticated technical design and construction, bespoke movements, impeccable quality and elaborate case and dials. All of Rebellion’s movements are bespoke and have been designed, developed, produced and assembled in Switzerland under the most quality-conscious conditions using the very latest technology and techniques.

The movements are exhaustively tested in Rebellion’s own state-of-the-art testing laboratory to ensure both their accuracy and reliability. The dials of Rebellion watches are multi-layered, providing a three-dimensional visual feast as well as offering unparalleled flexibility in terms of choice of materials. The latter offers a vast range of possibilities for personalisation.

The solid indices are applied – not stamped – in a material which matches and complements both case and hands. Double anti-reflective coatings on the massive sapphire crystal offer an unimpeded view of the dial. The compound curves and bevelled edges of the crystal, incredibly difficult to achieve, further add to the overall feeling that Rebellion timepieces are a cut above the ordinary.

The milling of each modular Rebellion case takes more than a day using the latest generation of laser cutters and five-axis CNC milling machines. Complex and demanding work, but the result speaks for itself in terms of quality and customisation options.

Rebellion wristwatches benefit from natural rubber grips on crown and pushers; automatic rotors are milled from solid 18kt gold; all models including the tourbillon are water-resistant to 100 metres; and all come with natural rubber straps.Rebellion timepieces are crafted in small quantities with precision-engineered cases and bespoke movements offering exclusivity with cutting-edge style.

Partnerships

In 2017, Rebellion announced a strategic partnership with Danish supercar manufacture Zenvo Automotive at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show.  As part of the partnership, Rebellion Timepieces announced a new watch model and timing instrumentation for Zenvo Automotive’s supercars. The partnership extends into technical collaboration with Rebellion Racing which will include shared engineering capabilities, data and testing. Also revealed at the show was a limited edition Predator 2.0 GMT Zenvo timepiece.   This racing-inspired, dual time-zone watch features a dial adorned with a brake and a caliper hour hand.  It serves as the pair’s first act of partnership.

In 2017, Rebellion Timepieces became the Official Timing Partner of the ELMS (European Le Mans Series) thanks to a three-year partnership agreement.

About Rebellion Predator 2.0 Series

Launched at SIHH 2017, the innovative the Predator 2.0 series is an update to the original Predator and carries on the tradition of fusing racing technology and aesthetics into quality timepieces. The Predator 2.0 series is comprised of three distinct versions: The Predator 2.0 Regulator Power Reserve, the Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillion and the Predator 2.0 GMT.  Each Predator 2.0 contains its own in-house movement and offer seven more customization options.

The Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Power Reserve has a legacy regulator design which seamlessly combines watchmaking history with car racing.  In the middle of the timepiece is the in-house movement based on a self-winding motor. Looking into the watch’s large, sapphire glass is like peering into a racecar.  The dashboard exhibits two sub-dials which display the hours and minutes while the newly developed REB-AMS bent hand rotates around the full display to mark the seconds.  It is completed by a special fuel gauge located at 6 o’clock, revealing how much of the 46-hour power reserve remains.

The Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon is a 30-piece, limited edition watch.  It is named after its in-house movement, the P351 self-winding Regulator Tourbillon.  Located at 6 o’clock and encased in a 60-second rotating cage, the watch’s tourbillon offsets any disruption caused by the Earth’s gravity, providing the timepiece with superb accuracy.

The date is displayed through a window at 4o’clock, while special sub-dials read the hour and minutes and the newly developed REB-AMS hand marks the seconds.  The Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon boasts a significant 65 hours of power reserve, the largest power reserve of this series.

The Predator 2.0 GMT is a 25-piece, limited edition watch named for its distinctive 24-hour GMT time-zone indicator. Its large, sapphire case reveals the watch’s inner-workings.  The display is directly inspired by racecar brakes and its dashboard exhibits a unique hour hand comprised of a rotating disc and red caliper.  It is finished-off by the racing-inspired REB-AMS minute hand and has a power reserve of 42 hours.

Rebellion Weap-One

Lonay based Swiss high-end luxury watchmaker Rebellion Timepieces presents Weap-One, an unconventional mechanical wristwatch featuring a never-before-seen, asymmetrical, 60-second flying tourbillon movement.

Rebellion Weap-One watch

Suspended between the hour and minute rollers, the tourbillon is attached to two plates. Each plate rotates at a different speed, resulting in a non-stationary horizontal axis – the first of its kind.

Rebellion Weap-One watch tourbillon

Designed by Fabrice Gonet and made in collaboration with Concepto, the movement is housed in a detachable sapphire crystal tube which offers maximum viewing and countless mounting options.  This 67 jewels manual winding movement comprising of 529 parts has 21.40mm diameter and its tourbillon measures 12.60mm.

Rebellion Weap-One watch movement

Integrated into the Weap-One are several pieces of racing technology. Like the wheels of a race car, the rollers and tourbillon-mounted plates rotate at varying speeds.

Rebellion Weap-One watch movement

To compensate for this difference in speeds, the movement was developed with two differentials modeled after those found in race car suspensions. Ten ball bearings have replaced jewels in this piece for additional reduction in rotational friction as well as radial and axil loads.

Rebellion Weap-One watch

Two rollers read the time- hours on the left and minutes on the right. The numbers and indexes are treated with Super-LumiNova® to ensure ease of readability day or night.

Rebellion Weap-One

Finishing the piece is a dual crown system – mounted on either side of the movement and fashioned after wheel nuts – the left sets the time while the right winds the 60-hour power reserve.

Rebellion Weap-One watch crown

Its tube shaped titanium case measures 40mm length and 25mm diameter. The roller of display system is also made with titanium and finished in DLC. A black leather strap secures the timepiece to the wrist with its titanium clasp.

Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon

The young Swiss luxury watch brand Rebellion Timepieces presents its new creation, the Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon. This highly complicated contemporary wristwatch fuses racing car technology and traditional horology.

Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon

Produced in a 30-piece limited series, the Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon has a modular and customisable case measuring 48mm diameter.

Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon

Beneath the sapphire crystal glass, its open dial showcases two complications that are symbols of timekeeping precision and centuries of tradition: the regulator and the tourbillon.

Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon

The tourbillon rotates inside its carriage at 6 o’clock, a mechanical choreography version 2.0, to compensate variations in rate due to Earth’s gravity.

Rebellion Predator 2.0 Regulator Tourbillon

The regulator-type hours and minute subdials at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock are set out like the instrument cluster on a racing car, while the centre hand counts precious seconds to the finish line. The mechanical self winding movement that powers this timepiece has 65-hour power reserve.

REBELLION Sapphire 540 Magnum Tourbillon

This exclusive edition of REBELLION 540 Magnum Tourbillon boasts an incredible rectangular watch case crafted out of sapphire.

Incorporating the state of the art diamond grinding techniques, the independent Swiss watch brand has extracted the eight elements that make up the transparent case of the 540 Magnum Tourbillon from specially cut sapphire blocks.

REBELLION Sapphire 540 Magnum Tourbillon

When taking up the insurmountable challenge announced by REBELLION TIMEPIECES, David Candaux had no idea what to expect.

The task facing him was to make a case of sapphire crystal imagined by the designer Eric Giroud, which would already be complex enough as it is when made of steel, gold, titanium, or carbon. Armed with all the confidence of a true pioneer, he produced something that qualifies as a world premiere.

REBELLION Sapphire 540 Magnum Tourbillon

Inside this virile timepiece is an extreme mechanism also developed by David Candaux, a recognized maker of movements.  The rectangular architecture of the REB T-14, with a double spring barrel, immediately catches the eye due to the large size of the tourbillon cage.

REBELLION Sapphire 540 Magnum Tourbillon

With its 540 tenths of a millimeter circumference and a diameter of 17.2 millimeters – hence the name of the collection, 540 Magnum – the tourbillon pervades the entire dial from its magnesium cage.

Another thing to note is the world’s smallest chain, to give legroom to the regulating ten-day power reserve indicator with conical gears.

REBELLION Sapphire 540 Magnum Tourbillon

In order to optimize the visual impact of this piece, the mainplate was made of carbon fiber. The high-tech materials used, like the special aluminum alloy, provide the mechanism with the necessary rigidity and lightness. They also offer some dark and racy views composed of subtle interplay of shadows and light.

Rebellion REB-7 Regulator in Forged Carbon, Unique Piece for Only Watch 2015

This is the first time that Rebellion is participating in the Only Watch Auction. This biennial charity event, which was initiated by Luc Pettavino, President of the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM), is under the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

For its sixth edition, scheduled for November 7, 2015, the event moved to Geneva, Switzerland, for the first time. It will bring together about forty-five prestigious watchmaking companies that have each donated a unique piece. For this occasion, Rebellion created a unique REB-7 Regulator in Forged Carbon timepiece.

Rebellion REB-7 Regulator in Forged Carbon, Unique Piece for Only Watch 2015

Rebellion is the only Swiss brand to have its own stable of racecars, the Rebellion Racing team. As such, it had created an ultra-light timekeeper for the most legendary endurance race in the history of the automobile, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and had placed it on the wrist of Nicolas Prost, a professional pilot in his own right, eldest son of the famous champion and a brand faithful.

In a case of superb serendipity, the unique model, in electric blue like the pilot’s helmet, reflects the new identifying color of the Only Watch logo. It is also charged with the special intensity generated by the wild ambiance of 263,500 spectators vibrating to the rhythm of the pilots’ performances.

This one-of-a-kind timepiece has two unique assets: First, there is the modularly designed case machined in-house from a material that is entirely new to the brand.

Secondly, it was built around the last remaining mechanical caliber in the REB-7 Regulator series launched by Rebellion in 2010. This particular caliber, with its disruptive architecture, features automatic winding and a power reserve of up to 42 hours. It was developed by the movement-maker Laurent Besse.

The model being put up for auction by Rebellion carries this history into the 21st century thanks to its masculine dimensions, 46 by 56.7 millimeters, the date at 6 o’clock, and water-resistance to 3 atm. It also features open-worked architecture on the dial side, which avoids any obstacle to the reading of time.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

REBELLION Timepieces, the young Swiss watch maker which is closely associated with the prestigious endurance car racing events since its establishment, now unveils a new timepiece that proudly reflects brand’s passion for speed and the deep involvement and success of Rebellion Racing team in endurance car racing.

Rebellion Racing has already bagged many crowns such as Winner of both the 2012 and 2013 FIA LMP1 World Endurance Trophies; winner of both the 2012 and 2013 Petite Le Mans ALMS race in Atlanta; winner of the 2011 Le Mans Series LMP1 Team Championship; and winner of the 2011 Le Mans Series LMP1 Manufacture Championship.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

The new 540 Magnum Tourbillon is yet another REBELLION winner, exuding the all-conquering automotive pedigree that the brand has been accruing ever since it rocketed off the starting grid in 2008.

Where Rebellion Racing excels in endurance car racing, REBELLION Timepieces excels in endurance watchmaking. The 540 Magnum’s engine – the proprietary REB T-14 movement – has a competition honed 14-day power reserve. Power is generated by relief-engraved twin mainspring barrels – in series for optimal performance – and regulated by a finely-tuned, large-diameter, 60-second tourbillon escapement.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

And just like a top-class racing car, through clever design and the harnessing of the latest material technology, the 540 Magnum chassis and shell are engineered to be super lightweight while retaining maximum rigidity.

The T-14 movement features a large-diameter, ceramicized-magnesium tourbillon cage. The mainplate and ¾ back plate are respectively crafted from aluminum and race-inspired carbon fiber, setting the tone for a cutting-edge sandwich of aluminum and carbon fiber layers throughout the movement.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

The imposing, almost-square case – constructed modularly in high-tech carbon fiber – is complemented by a race-ready natural rubber strap and bespoke double folding buckle.

REBELLION Timepieces are so into racing that with the 540 Magnum, they are literally and figuratively wearing their heart on their sleeve thanks to the eye-catching openwork dial.

The balance wheel – the beating heart of the timepiece – rotates proudly in the raised, crenelated tourbillon cage at 4 o’clock, while the dual mainspring barrels, double braced titanium bridges and gear train – all feature automotive architecture and motifs.

These provide a technically rich backdrop to the central skeletonized hour and minute hands, skeletonized retrograde seconds lever to the left of the tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock and two power reserve displays: An at-a-glance bright red arrowhead on the chain at 9 o’clock, plus a precision indicator on a roller at 7 o’clock.

The top of the T-14 movement forms a stunning technical backdrop to the time indications with their distinctive, black-carbon Super-LumiNova tipped skeletonized hour and minute hands pointing to double-braced ARCAP hour markers. The skeletonized retrograde seconds lever at 6 o’clock, also tipped with black-carbon Super-LumiNova, further enhances the dial-side animation provided by the oversized tourbillon at 4 o’clock.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

Each passing day of the 14-day power reserve – its mechanism chain-driven with conical gears for maximum efficiency – is marked by the skeletonized arrowhead in vivid racing red at 9 o’clock. Complementing this at 7 o’clock is a precision power reserve display telling the owner the exact number of days of energy remaining, displayed using a Rebellion signature vertical roller-borne indicator.

Gears can be seen between the tourbillon and relief-engraved mainspring barrels at 12 o’clock and 9 o’clock, both barrels rigidly supported by titanium bridges. The high-tech movement materials – aluminum, ceramicized-magnesium, titanium and carbon fiber – form a smart interplay of dark and light colors.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

The T-14 movement is a completely original, proprietary movement developed by renowned Swiss movement constructor David Candaux. To ensure that the Magnum fully reflected REBELLION’s competition racing prowess – in terms of materials, design motifs and endurance capacity – David immersed himself in the world of Rebellion Racing, spending time trackside with the Rebellion Racing team, taking notes and photos of their race-proven technology.

Then, David, Alexander Pesci (owner of both REBELLION Timepieces and Rebellion Racing) and Steve Clerici (CEO of REBELLION Timepieces), transposed the exciting world of auto sports to the world of watchmaking to create the REB T-14.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

Two mainsprings in two barrels generate the 540 Magnum’s massive 14-day power reserve, upholding the REBELLION tradition of timepieces featuring long power reserves. The Magnum’s barrels are connected in series for more constant power to the regulator and improved precision.

One barrel is engraved with ‘Passion’ ‘Speed’ ‘Rebel’ and the other with ‘Extreme’ ‘Victory’ ‘Glory’. Words that sum up not only REBELLION’s intimate connection with endurance car racing, but also its ethos of creating contemporary timepieces that challenge the horological establishment.

With its mainplate in aluminum and ¾ back plate in carbon fiber, the 540 Magnum draws clear inspiration from the materials used in the world of racing. The carbon fiber plate supports the gear train from mainspring barrel to the escapement; retrograde seconds mechanism; wheels and pinions for the power reserve; and winding ratchet click, making it nearly as complex as the mainplate itself.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

At 36.7mm x 36.7mm x 9mm, the T-14 movement is generously proportioned to fill the case, but it is the clever engineering – a sandwich of high-tech layers – and the astute use of cutting-edge materials that make this caliber exceptionally rigid and lightweight.

The REB T-14 features an extremely large tourbillon – 17.2mm in diameter – floating above the dial, so that its beauty can be fully appreciated. The circumference of the magnesium tourbillon is “540 tenths of a millimeter” (54mm) and it is this value which has given rise to the name of the timepiece – the 540 Magnum.

The tourbillon cage has a distinctive crenelated profile engraved ‘-REB-T14’, with the extra weight that this design would normally entail offset by crafting the cage in magnesium – magnesium has just 66 per cent the density of aluminum. The magnesium here has been subjected to a ‘ceramicization’ process that provides a micro-thin protective coating without affecting the tourbillon dimensions.

REBELLION 540 MAGNUM TOURBILLON (with carbon fiber case)

Renowned horological designer Eric Giroud designed the 540 Magnum’s case, which boasts virile dimensions (46 mm x 56.7 mm x 19.6 mm) and an oversized, grooved crown.

The case band window provides an alternative vista onto the power reserve and its chain, while the choice of resistant, naturally finished carbon fiber – with visible, fibrous strands – is another evident nod towards to the realm of racing cars.

Rebellion T-1000 GOTHAM Limited Edition

Swiss luxury watch brand Rebellion Timepieces unveils their new model T-1000 Gotham, featuring the world’s largest power reserve; vertical roller-borne  hour and minute indications; and muscular case in natural and blackened titanium.

With a mind-blowing power reserve of more than 1,000 hours, thanks to the six mainspring barrels, which endow the T-1000 Gotham with the world’s largest power reserve – this colossal energy is generated by an ingenious, over-sized winding lever cunningly integrated into the back of the robust case.

Rebellion T-1000 GOTHAM Limited Edition watch

The case, made from natural and/or blackened titanium, is tank-like in appearance. But this rugged, chiseled exterior belies the complexity of what’s housed within – intricate mechanics more evocative of a high-performance sports car than an armored vehicle.

In a patented system of energy distribution, the six barrels are wound in parallel by two finely-engineered chains, discharging in series (2 x 3) to optimize the torque and power to the regulator. The latter’s unconventional 39° inclined balance at 6 o’clock – which maximizes timekeeping precision by minimizing flat and vertical positions – can be seen oscillating through the sloping crystal at 6 o’clock.

Rebellion T-1000 GOTHAM Limited Edition

The T-1000 Gotham’s incredible fuel storage capacity needs to be complemented by an equally impressive power generation system. And what a system it is. The over-sized winding lever enables approximately 10 times as much winding force to be applied than a normal winding mechanism.

Stealthily housed within the case back, the mask-shaped lever can be unclipped from between the lugs, then lifted up and out, above the Rebellion logo emblazoned on the case back. Now primed for action, the lever provides a unique kinesthetic pleasure for the owner for whom the terms ‘fuel pump’ and ‘filling up the tank’ will take on a whole new meaning.

Rebellion T-1000 GOTHAM Limited Edition

The innovative lever is neatly harnessed on either side of the case to robust plates, which are fixed to the chassis via sturdy hex-head bolts. Concealed behind these plates are the six mainspring barrels, three either side. Rebellion’s automotive pedigree – the Rebellion Racing team won the 2012 FIA Endurance Trophy (LMP1 class) – is evidenced by the patented time-setting clutch activated by a push button in the virile, grooved crown that makes setting the time as easy as shifting gears.

Rebellion T-1000 GOTHAM Limited Edition

The vertical, roller-borne hour and minute indications plus large portions of the eye-catching three-dimensional movement – available in a choice of black, gold, red, blue, purple – stand out in all their glory through the upper, anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

This T-shaped crystal is surrounded by a solid grill panel fixed by screws featuring the brand’s signature Rebellion logo screw heads, as is a second geometrically-angled panel towards 6 o’clock that affords a superb view of the balance wheel beating away – as well as more of the movement – through another sapphire crystal that slopes neatly with the balance’s incline.

Rebellion T-1000 GOTHAM Limited Edition

Completing the T-1000 Gotham is the black alligator leather strap and Rebellion buckle featuring patented folding clasp with micrometric push button regulation. The T-1000 Gotham is a limited edition of 25 pieces available in natural and/or blackened titanium with a choice of black, gold, red, blue or purple movement.

Rebellion RE-1 Chronograph (redesigned version)

Rebellion presents a redesigned version of its RE-1 Chronograph. Renowned watch designer Eric Giroud has re-examined and re-worked the distinctive case he developed for the RE-1 Chronograph. The RE-1 has undergone a revamp to emphasize its strength and power. The attention to detail has refined the look with deft and subtle change.

Rebellion RE-1 Chronograph (redesigned version)

The RE-1 Chronograph’s robust chassis features Rebellion’s distinctive signature helical screw heads, with a large diameter crown that is both intrinsically masculine and easier to use.

The new wedge-shaped chronograph pushers fall readily to hand: each pusher’s sloped surface follows the arc of a finger as it presses down; in turn creating an operational experience that provides a tactile sensation to match the aesthetic.

Rebellion RE-1 Chronograph (redesigned version)

It houses a highly-tuned automatic mechanical movement, on a Concepto base. This 27-jewel movement has a power reserve of 50 hours.

The RE-1 Chronograph’s visage is reminiscent of an engine, with touches that recall turbines, alloy wheels, competition dials and gauges.

Rebellion RE-1 Chronograph (redesigned version)

A bold sweep hand marks the crucial timing for events that warrant the operation of the chronograph functions. Even the pushers look like small cam covers, the crown reminiscent of a nut securing a wheel to a hub.

Rebellion REB-5 Tourbillon Black Diamond, Unique Piece

The REB-5 Tourbillon Full Diamond, unique diamond set version of Rebellion ‘s REB-5 Tourbillon was a perfect example of the marriage between complexity of high horology and beauty of high jewellery art work.

Now Rebellion presents a sibling, REB-5 Tourbillon Black Diamond which follows the same tradition as the Full Diamond model. Rebellion Timepieces, along with the setting workshop Bunter SA succeeded in creating a REB-5 Tourbillon with diamonds set using the mystery setting, a technique developed by Van Cleef & Arpels for mounting precious stones without any of the setting claws showing.

Rebellion REB-5 Tourbillon Black Diamond, Unique Piece

The settings are hidden from view as if by magic, the diamonds sparkling brilliantly without the slightest sign of a fastener in sight. They were cut in such a way as to leave no clue whatsoever that an attachment system is even being used.

The Tourbillon Diamond symbolizes perfectly the fusion between jewellery and horology: a tourbillon movement and baguette diamonds. There are 307 diamonds making up the case (24.05ct) and another 12 diamonds in the crown (1.02ct); each precious stone is individually shaped according to its specific position; all diamonds are Top Wesselton quality and IF to VVS clarity.

It took about 1,000 man hours to design, research and development, the programming of the machines and tools, cutting of the diamonds, visual inspection of each part, setting, assembly and adjustment. These are the many links in the chain of command which culminated in this breathtaking achievement.

Rebellion T-1000

After the successful presentation in January of The Predator, their first watch with a round case, Swiss luxury watch brand Rebellion launches T-1000, a watch with a power reserve of more than 1,000 hours.

The body of the T-1000 was designed in a collaboration of Eric Giroud and Rebellion. The case was developed concurrently with the movement to ensure completely harmonious integration.

Rebellion T-1000 - The mechanical watch with a power reserve of 1000 hours

There is a sensation of flying as the viewer gazes down through the massive opening to the vertical roller-borne time indications below. Attention then plunges towards 6 o’clock, where the inclined double balance releases the immense power at a precisely controlled rate. A window in the side of the case reveals one of the mainspring barrels, with markers providing a natural “Fuel Gauge” of the state of the the power reserve.

Rebellion T-1000 - The mechanical watch with a power reserve of 1000 hours

Housed three on each side of the body are the six mainspring barrels providing T-1000 with its colossal energy reserve. The over-sized winding lever endows the T-1000 with a strong and virile identity as well as an ergonomically tactile pleasure while “filling the tank”.

Rebellion T-1000 - The mechanical watch with a power reserve of 1000 hours

The streamlined downward taper of the case from the centre to 6 o’clock furnishes further evidence of Rebellion’s car racing pedigree. A pedigree reinforced by the fact that a patented time-setting clutch activated by a push button in the crown makes setting the time as simple (and as pleasurable) as changing gears.

The three rounded structures each side of the case provide a hint to the complex engineering within, while the innovative architecture of the majestic case is in perfect tune with the demand for exceptional contemporary horology.

Rebellion T-1000 - The mechanical watch with a power reserve of 1000 hours

The power reserve of more than 1,000 hours is possible thanks to the six mainspring barrels that provide the T-1000 with its exceptional capacity.

In a patented system of energy distribution, six barrels are wound in parallel via a central prop shaft driving two chains, but they discharge in series (2 x 3) to optimize a regular power supply to the regulator.

Rebellion T-1000 - The mechanical watch with a power reserve of 1000 hours

The technical ability behind the realization of this elegant technical solution came directly from Rebellion’s long experience in endurance car racing and the Rebellion Racing team.

Rebellion Predator Collection – Predator Chronograph & Predator 3 Hands

Since their launch in 2008, REBELLION has developed a strong reputation for their distinctive masculine watches – chronographs, regulator and tourbillons – inspired by racing cars.

This year they launch a chronograph with sectorial seconds. The Predator is REBELLION’s first watch clothed in a round case. In collaboration with award-winning designer Eric Giroud, REBELLION has conceived and developed the Predator in the same spirit as the rest of their collection: with authenticity, refined design, and uncompromising quality and performance.

Rebellion Predator Collection

Many characteristics of the Predator, both technical and aesthetic, are inspired directly from racing cars – like the brake disks and the pedals – and are found throughout the watch. First they have the five-layered dial, the base of which is in a honeycomb that ensures absolute rigidity while maximising transparency and lightness.

Rebellion Predator Chronograph

The chronograph counters are connected to the dial by push rod shaped bridges decorated with a central ruby reminding us that, despite the watch’s avant gardist nature, the Predator is crafted with respect to horological tradition.

Rebellion Predator Collection

The sectorial seconds at 9h are indicated by means of a double hand: a shorter hand indicates 0 to 30 seconds, which is then replaced by a longer hand indicating 30 to 60 seconds.

In red gold or steel, the hands of the hours, minutes and chronograph are diamond-cut, hollowed, and then treated with SuperLumiNova to ensure excellent legibility and a lighter vision of time.

Rebellion Predator Chronograph

The bezel is attached by 8 distinctive screws with heads in the brand’s logo and the back by 6 torx screws, reinforcing the racing spirit of the watch. Another exclusivity of this model: the case, which is constructed in a complex sandwich of superimposed layers allowing considerable personalisation according to owner’s taste.

Rebellion Predator Chronograph

The Predator is available in several case materials: red gold, red gold/ceramic, steel, steel/ceramic and red gold/steel. The Predator is also available in a time-only version with three hands and date, as well as a mono-pusher chronograph.

Rebellion Predator 3 Hands

Despite its relatively classical shape, the Predator perfectly encompasses the passion of REBELLION ‘s founders for endurance car racing. A passion that carries through to the race team that carries the brand’s name, ‘Racing Rebellion’, which will participate in the Le Mans 24 hours and the Le Mans Series with two Lola LMP1 driven by Nicolas Prost, Andrea Belicchi, Neel Jani and Jean-Christophe Boullion.

Rebellion Predator Chronograph

A limited edition of 24 watches, called the LM24, will be launched at the Le Mans 24 hours in 2010, and the watches will be worn by the drivers during the race.
