Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 Bronze Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand RAYMOND WEIL presents a special edition of its best-selling freelancer chronograph inspired by the open road and a customised motorbike crafted by the artisans of Meister Engineering.

Meister Engineering is a Swiss custom motorcycle company based in Geneva. Their artisans and engineers modify standard motorbikes, offering distinctive blend of creativity, style and mechanical virtue.

Ultimately, the two-wheeled work of art inspired RAYMOND WEIL to create a bronze timepiece equipped with a chronograph, the freelancer 7780.

Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 Bronze Limited Edition

On the brand’s customised motorbike, the name RAYMOND WEIL adorns the fuel tank and is depicted in rose gold foil. This provided the inspiration for the texture of the 43.5mm bronze case and the two counters gracing the dial.

Likewise, the motorbike’s gradient effect paint influenced the watch’s black smoked dial. This latter detail confers an interesting display with light tones at the centre of the dial that assume a darker shade near the edge.

Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 Bronze Limited Edition

The tachymeter and pulsometer scales engraved on the motorcycle tank cap are replicated on the watch’s satin-finished ceramic bezel insert and flange, respectively. Even the freelancer’s rich brown calf leather strap has been inspired by the motorbike’s leather-clad seat.

The symmetrical bi-compax layout features a 30-minute chronograph counter and a small seconds display. The golden hour and minute hands are generously proportioned and, in conjunction with the applied indexes, prove highly legible.

Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 Bronze Limited Edition

The hour track is snailed, while the hands and indexes feature luminescent treatment, augmenting readability in restricted light. The colour of the central chronograph seconds hand, the hand on the 30-minute register and the numerals on the pulsometer scale are presented in orange shades.

A date display is positioned at 6 o’clock, once again contributing to the overall symmetry of the dial. The date disc is presented in black, matching the colour of the dial.

The tachymeter scale on the bezel provides the means to determine the speed over a known distance. The pulsometer scale on the bronze-toned flange allows the wearer to determine the heart rate of an individual.

The dial wonderfully plays with shades, depths and textures, contributing to the watch’s sophisticated appearance.

Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Bi-Compax 7780 Bronze Limited Edition

The case back is presented in stainless steel. The Calibre RW5030 is visible via the exhibition case back. This self-winding movement is fitted with a W-shaped skeleton oscillating weight, a reference to the founder’s surname. The watch has a power reserve of 56 hours.

The watch comes on a brown calf leather strap with contrasting stitching and paired with a bronze folding clasp equipped with a double push-security system.

The RAYMOND WEIL freelancer chronograph bi-compax is available in two variants: one in a bronze case, limited to just 300 pieces and with red and orange accents, and the other in a bronze and titanium case, with blue accents.

This new model is available from Raymond-weil.co.uk, £2,995-£3,495.

Raymond Weil Don Giovanni Limited Edition (Re-launch Edition, SKU: 4400-STC-00268)

RAYMOND WEIL has announced the re-launch of the iconic Don Giovanni Così Grande. A decade since its initial release and as a celebration of the Swiss Watchmaking Maison’s historic and musical roots, just 20 units of the Don Giovanni Così Grande will be available worldwide, exclusively online at the Raymond Weil e-boutique.

As a reminder to the brands’ contribution to music worldwide, RAYMOND WEIL is donating 10% of sale proceeds to Nordoff Robbins, the UK’s largest independent music therapy charity.

Raymond Weil Don Giovanni Limited Edition (Re-launch Edition, SKU 4400-STC-00268)

The robust rectangular layout measures a generous 50 x 38 mm in case size, with two offset dials. The top reading minutes with a unique visual perspective drawing your eye to an hour window located at the top of the face. The bottom dial contains the running seconds indication.

The figure eight dial layout is complimented by the organic curves of the stainless steel case. The hour display is known as a “digital jumping hour”. This means that the hour hand is replaced by a large window, located at 12 o’clock, for an extraordinary reading of time. This particularity was achieved thanks to a mechanical movement with automatic winding, the caliber RW 1400, equipped with a disc that displays the hours. At each full hour, they instantly “jumps” to the following hour, which appears in the window.

Raymond Weil Don Giovanni Limited Edition (Re-launch Edition, SKU 4400-STC-00268)

Leather strap and stainless steel bracelet versions are available, both at £3,995 from raymond-weil.co.uk – launching 27th April 2020.

Raymond Weil Freelancer Chronograph Jimi Hendrix™ Limited Edition

Swiss watchmaker RAYMOND WEIL pays tribute to legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix with its newest Limited Edition freelancer chronograph, inspired by the musician’s timeless Woodstock performance.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the famous festival, one of the most pivotal live music events in history, which saw Hendrix perform his renowned rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

RAYMOND WEIL chose its flagship freelancer collection to capture Jimi Hendrix’s free-spirited attitude and classic trademarks. His famous 1968 white Fender Stratocaster inspired many of the dial’s details, including the ten dotted index markers that mimic the frets on his guitar neck and circular border representing the six guitar strings.

Hendrix was known for his signature left-handed guitar technique, visible in the Fender guitar counter weight design of the second hand. He wore an unforgettable cyan blue ensemble with an Aztec guitar strap on the Woodstock stage; the color is prominently accented on the second and sub-dial hands while the embossed design on the watch face calls attention to the Aztec pattern.

Crafted in Geneva by RAYMOND WEIL’s in-house watchmakers, the timepiece maintains the freelancer collection’s case design in a matte finish, original chronograph push buttons and classic brown leather strap.

The tachymeter ring is detailed with the singer’s famous quote, “Music is my Religion” alongside his name, and the case back is finished with the Authentic Hendrix logo, giving his estate’s seal of approval.

The timepiece is limited to just 500 units worldwide; each with its own numbered case back and certificate of authenticity signed by Jimi’s sister, Janie Hendrix.

Each timepiece is packaged handsomely in a blue and white commemorative box, paying homage to Woodstock. It is completed with a funky tie-dye interior to proudly display your timepiece.

About Jimi Hendrix

Recognized the world over as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix’s innovative electric guitar style influenced a multitude of modern musicians, from George Clinton to Miles Davis, and Joe Satriani to Jonny Lang. Influenced by such artists as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Holly, and Robert Johnson, Hendrix, without reading music, taught himself to play first using a $5 second-hand acoustic guitar. Later, when his father presented him with his first electric guitar, a Supro Ozark 1560S, he forever changed the musical landscape.

Hendrix, who generated an amazing collection of songs over the course of his short career, forged a new sound that embraced the genres of blues, ballads, rock, R&B and jazz which continues to make Hendrix one of the most popular figures in the history of rock music. Are You Experienced, a psychedelic musical compilation released in 1967 by The Jimi Hendrix Experience (Hendrix, drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding), featuring anthems of a generation – “Hey Joe,” “Purple Haze,” “The Wind Cries Mary,” “Foxey Lady,” “Fire,” and “Are You Experienced?” – has remained one of the most popular rock albums of all time.

Hendrix also made history in June 1967, with the incendiary performance of “Wild Thing” at the Monterey International Pop Festival and, in 1968, with the release of Axis: Bold as Love, both of which contributed to The Jimi Hendrix Experience ranking as one of most popular and highest grossing touring acts in the world.

In August 1969, Hendrix performed the iconic renegade version of “Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock, forever defining the spirit of that generation. That New Year’s Eve, with bassist Billy Cox and Electric Flag Drummer Buddy Miles, Hendrix would perform and record a series of four performances later released on the quintessential Band of Gypsys album in mid-1970 (and the expanded Hendrix: Live at The Fillmore East in 1999).

Back in the studio in 1970, Hendrix recorded several tracks for another two album set, tentatively titled First Rays of The New Rising Sun. With Hendrix’s tragic and untimely death on September 18, 1970, the album was finally released in 1997 through the support of his family and original studio engineer Eddie Kramer.

Raymond Weil freelancer Calibre RW1212 Skeleton

After launching its first in-house movement in collaboration with Swiss movement manufacturer Sellita in 2017, RAYMOND WEIL unveils the new and exclusive CALIBRE RW1212 Skeleton as a sign of its desire to keep pushing boundaries.

RAYMOND WEIL introduces this bold and distinctive model featuring an open-worked dial, revealing most of the sophisticated movement with an intricate perlage finish. The distinctive characteristic remains the 6 o’clock front dial positioning of its visible balance wheel. The dial, however, has been opened, exposing the manufacturing beauty and highlighting the richness of watchmaking expertise, whilst infusing it with its distinctive free-spirited attitude. The freelancer Calibre RW1212 Skeleton is a two hand model providing an understated display of the hours and minutes.

While working on the initial design of the Calibre RW1212, the R&D team at RAYMOND WEIL redesigned and pared down all the elements closely relating to the exquisite mechanism so as to endow this exclusive in-house movement with even more depth and character.

Framed by a 42mm steel case, the mechanical self-winding Calibre RW1212 beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 38-hour power reserve. Its RAYMOND WEIL engraved oscillating weight has been skeletonized to increase the transparency of the timepiece.

The new Calibre RW1212 is presented in three different executions, offering three very different personalities for this pioneering flagship product in the freelancer family. The full black PVD plated version with rose gold indexes and hands offers modernity and urban style, while the brown leather strap brings attitude and elegance to the rose gold and stainless steel two-tone model. Finally, the total stainless steel look featuring blue indexes and hands offers a more cosmopolitan feel.

RAYMOND WEIL

Independent and Family owned Swiss watch company RAYMOND WEIL, founded in Geneva in 1976, enjoys a special place in the exclusive world of luxury watchmaking. Over the years, the Brand has come to stand out for its independent, dynamic and innovative character – while at the same time playing an active role in the development of the local economy and international watchmaking.

After spectacular and constant growth in every market, RAYMOND WEIL is present throughout the world. Under the leadership of Olivier Bernheim, President & CEO – recently joined by his sons Elie (Marketing Director) and Pierre (Areas Sales Director), both grandsons of M. Raymond Weil – the company has continued to expand and innovate in the fields of Product Research & Development, Marketing and Communication. The Geneva watchmaker is also committed to expanding into such regions and countries as Asia, Russia and India, reflecting their significant economic potential and the Brand’s international reputation.

The Brand’s expansion and influence among the world of prestige watchmaking are underpinned by its strategic positioning, the renewal of its product range, a new visual identity, and advertising campaigns that reflect the world and spirit of RAYMOND WEIL (embodied by the new nabucco collection), the launch of the RW Club and the Brand’s presence on Second Life.

RAYMOND WEIL models are varied and determinedly modern, characterized by high quality and an emphasis on aesthetics. The range concentrates mainly on men’s mechanical watches, but ladies’ designs are far from neglected – take the shine jewellery watches and freelancer lady mechanical watches. Precious materials (diamonds, gold, alligator-skin and precious stones) play a significant role in the Brand’s global range.

“INDEPENDENCE is a state of mind.” The motto of the Geneva company sends a powerful message about why RAYMOND WEIL stands out amidst the luxury watchmaking sector as an audacious, youthful, dynamic, innovative Brand which has managed to adapt to the evolving economic environment, and adopt the innovations needed to remain a leader in its field. “INDEPENDENCE is a state of mind” embodies the approach of both the company and the men behind its success – and pays tribute to the patrimony and heritage of a family whose leitmotif is independence.
