Perrelet “Turbine Tiger” Limited Edition

Renowned for their emblematic “Turbine” wristwatches, Swiss luxury watch brand Perrelet launched its E-commerce platform on 15th September 2021. The manufacture also released an on-line Boutique Edition in a limited edition of just 25 pieces for 2021: “Turbine Tiger”.

As its name suggests, “Turbine Tiger” portrays a tiger on the lower dial, behind the distinctive spinning blades system. A common subject in figurative arts since the time of the ancient times, this ferocious animal is a symbol of strength, courage and power.

Perrelet “Turbine Tiger” Limited Edition

The limited edition “Turbine Tiger” watch features a round, sporty case decorated with the hallmark vertical fluting along the sides of the case and integrated crown at 3 o’clock. Crafted in steel with a black PVD coating for superior resilience to scratches, the diameter of the watch is 48mm and the water-resistance is rated at 5 ATM/50m.

Perrelet “Turbine Tiger” Limited Edition

The Turbine, with its 12 black anodised aluminium blades, is the indisputable symbol of the brand’s identity. Five tungsten counterweights placed below the blades capture the slightest movement of the wrist to generate the oscillating movement of the blades. As soon as the blades are set in motion, the turbine reveals the refined miniature artwork specially designed for this new edition.

Perrelet “Turbine Tiger” Limited Edition

An imposing golden tiger’s head, picked out in shades of orange, black, white and grey, captures the majesty and ferociousness of the feline. Beyond the surprising hide-and-seek effect created by the spinning blades, the assembly of the blades demands perfectly balanced and calibrated components to function smoothly, a task performed by the Manufacture’s highly skilled watchmakers.

To ensure optimal legibility in any light conditions, the hour and minute hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova, as are the minute indices and Arabic numerals. The uneven hours on the flange are picked out in red echoing the colour of the central seconds hand.

Perrelet “Turbine Tiger” Limited Edition

This new limited edition is equipped with the Manufacture automatic calibre P-331-MH, which is Chronofiable and COSC-certified. This self-winding movement beats at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides 42 hours of power reserve.

The sapphire porthole on the case back, fixed by a ring that echoes the decorative features on the bezel, reveals the refined finishings with Côtes de Genève on the bridges and the open-worked rotor mounted on ball bearings. The rotor is personalised with the Perrelet logo, and the inscription “Limited Edition 01/25” is transferred on the sapphire crystal.

Perrelet “Turbine Tiger” Limited Edition

“Turbine Tiger” is completed by a black rubber strap embellished with vertical fluting and a black PVD-coated steel pin buckle with the brand logo.

This exclusive timepiece comes in a special watch box decorated on the inside with an image of the tiger depicted on the lower dial.

Perrelet “Turbine Hope”, Unique Piece for Only Watch 2021

Swiss luxury watch brand Perrelet is participating in the 9th edition of the charity timepiece auction ONLY WATCH to benefit research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Especially conceived for ONLY WATCH, the “TURBINE HOPE” boasts an innovative case with a stainless steel bezel with black PVD coating and a central body made of polycarbonate and carbon fibre. A first for Perrelet, the properties of carbon fibre include its thermal insulation capacity, its resistance to chemical agents and temperature changes. Moreover, it is very light and comfortable on the wrist.

Perrelet "Turbine Hope”, Unique Piece for Only Watch 2021

44 mm in diameter and 13.82 mm in thickness, the case has a sporty look with a refined aesthetic appeal thanks to the flat, smooth bezel and the fluted case band–a signature feature of the brand.

Looking carefully at the case back, the ring in black PVD stainless steel surrounding the sapphire crystal echoes the same decorative grooves featured on the sides of the case. The convex channels are lined up at precisely the same position as the concave channels on the case.

Perrelet is renowned for its unique representation of the automatic movement thanks to its patented Double Rotor and Turbine technology. The famous 12-blade dial, a distinctive design code of all Perrelet’s Turbine models, is protected under a sapphire glass. The original 3D effect created by the blades gives the impression of diving into the heart of the dial.

The propeller, picked out in black anodised aluminum with five tungsten counterweights, rotates in time to the motions of the wrist. As the blades spin, a lower sub-dial reveals a medley of positive words: hope, love, support, volunteer, life, social, community.

The word “HOPE”, highlighted in bright orange, is the dial’s protagonist and features an original letter “O” formed by a fluffy white cloud with a rainbow. This design was inspired by paintings made by Italian children at the beginning of the pandemic in Italy and is a powerful symbol of hope that everything will be all right and that thanks to the ongoing progress of medical and scientific research, the virus will be defeated.

Perrelet "Turbine Hope”, Unique Piece for Only Watch 2021

The Arabic numerals on the flange and the hours and minutes hands are covered with white Super-LumiNovafor optimal legibility in any light conditions. As a final touch of refinement, the words printed on the sub-dial are luminescent with green light emission. The central seconds hand and the indices are picked out in orange to match the word HOPE.

Perrelet "Turbine Hope”, Unique Piece for Only Watch 2021

“TURBINE HOPE” is powered by the new generation in-house automatic calibre P-331- MH. Chronometer-certified by COSC and Chronofiable, it beats at 28,800vph and has a 42-hour power reserve.

The transparent porthole on the case back offers a view of the refined finishes on the bridges and its elegant open-worked oscillating weight, which is mounted on ball bearings and personalised with the House logo. The crystal caseback displays the transferred logo “Only Watch 2021″and the inscription “Unique Piece”.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Models Ref. A1066/5 and Ref. A1088/4

With seaside holidays and nautical sports on the horizon, Swiss luxury watch brand Perrelet welcomes two new timepieces in its TURBINE YACHT collection.

Perfectly rigged for nautical activities, the iconic Turbine – patented by Perrelet in 2009 and one of the distinctive elements of the new TURBINE YACHT – incorporates the useful compass rose function. Often featured on nautical maps, the wind rose displays the orientation of the four cardinal directions.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Models 2021

The new TURBINE YACHT models boast an attractive and refined design that echoes the colours of the sea and the aesthetic codes found on board on some of the most prestigious maritime vessels, combined with a high-performance automatic manufacture movement that powers the TURBINE YACHT models.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Model 2021 black pvd case

Offered in a 47mm stainless steel or steel with a black PVD case, these new creations are characterised by the intriguing and dynamic Turbine dial with its 11 black rotating titanium blades that evoke the shape of a yacht propeller.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Model 2021 black pvd case

Mounted on ball bearings with five tungsten counterweights underneath, the blades rotate with the slightest movement of the wrist and return to their starting point. As they spin around the dial, the blades reveal an attractive sub-dial.

In alternating black/silver or electric blue/black tones, the vertical lines of the sub-dial are reminiscent of the teakwood decking of the yachts and further enhanced with a metallic applique in a silver or bronze colour.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Model 2021 stainless steel case electric blue dial

The flange displays a mix of applied Arabic numbers and indices treated with luminescent material, just like the hands for the hours, minutes, and seconds. On the periphery of the flange is a bidirectional rotating ring indicating the cardinal points of North and South on a scale of 360°. It’s the integrated compass rose, the star function of the TURBINE YACHT.

Activated by the crown at 10 o’clock, the compass allows you to maintain the set course. By establishing specific reference points and the sun’s orientation, calculating the different cardinal points is a straightforward task.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Stainless steel Model 2021

To balance harmoniously the design of the case, the winding and time-setting crown is positioned at 4 o’clock, perfectly symmetrical with the one that drives the compass rose.

In addition to their excellent precision and reliability, the 30 ATM (300m) water-resistance of the TURBINE YACHT makes them useful companions on deck as well as for exploring the depths.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht, New Model 2021

The new TURBINE YACHT watches are powered by the automatic manufacture movement, calibre P-331, which beats at a frequency of 28,800vph and offers a power reserve of 42 hours. A ring embellished with the same fluting pattern of the case flanks secures the anti-reflective sapphire crystal porthole on the case-back and allows to admire the refined finishings, including Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges and the open-worked rhodium-plated oscillating weight with the Perrelet logo.

The new models are fitted with a comfortable rubber strap – black or blue depending on the version – with a pin buckle to match the case material.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Versions

Swiss luxury watch maker Perrelet presents new interpretations of its “Turbine Pilot”, a collection inspired by the world of aviation.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Versions 2020 - Electric Blue, Yellow and Red Versions
Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Edition 2020 – Electric Blue, Yellow and Red Versions

First launched in 2014, the “Turbine Pilot” line was the result of combining cutting-edge technology with artisanal know-how. By combining high-performance mechanics with features taken from the world of aviation, Perrelet’s qualified watchmakers have created a collection of aviator watches that exude a bold, unmistakable style. All these distinguishing features are manifest in the four latest “Turbine Pilot” models, a collection that is constantly evolving to reflect the latest trends.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Versions 2020 - 2
Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Camo Version

Perrelet has always displayed a mastery of colour in its Turbine Technology timepieces. Three of the new “Turbine Pilot” protagonists feature bright, vivid colours like electric blue, red and yellow. The fourth version has a camouflage rubber strap decorated with the classic mottled greens, browns and beige tones.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Version 2020 - Black under-dial with electric blue stripes

To undertake its mission as a pilot’s watch, “Turbine Pilot” combines the turbine to a circular slide rule. Aviation slide rules are analogue calculation tools and a vital support instrument for pilots before and during flight. Equipped with a series of concentric discs with different graduated scales, aviation slide rules perform various conversions of measures with great speed.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Version 2020 - Black under-dial with red stripes

The generous case size of 48mm and the characteristic fluting on the case middle are hallmark Turbine family features. Crafted in stainless steel with a black PVD coating, the case is water-resistant to depths of 50 metres and frames a complex, three-dimensional dial with its hypnotic turbine and blades which spin at the slightest movement of the wrist.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Version 2020 - Black under-dial with yellow stripes

As soon as the 12 black anodised aluminium blades are set in motion, the spectacle begins offering incredible optical effects and flashes of colour. As the blades complete their rotations, a second dial placed below the turbine and decorated with electric blue, red, yellow or beige stripes depending on the model.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Version 2020 - Black under-dial with beige stripes

To ensure optimal legibility in all light conditions, the indices and Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, which are applied on sapphire crystal disc above the turbine, are luminescent, as are the hands.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Versions hands on

On the electric blue and camouflage rubber strap models, for example, the hour hand is picked out in the same colour as the stripes below the blades. The peripheral slide rule scales on the flange and the tip of the central seconds hand on all four models also match the colour of the stripes. The bidirectional rotating bezel is activated by the crown at 3 o’clock, while the time is adjusted via the integrated crown at 9 o’clock.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot New Versions hands on

Driving this timepiece is Perrelet’s manufacture P-331-MH automatic calibre. Produced entirely in-house, the movement is chronometer-certified by COSC and offers 42 hours of autonomy.

Perrelet Turbine Rat Limited Edition

Chinese New Year will be celebrated on January 25, 2020 marking the start of the year of the rat. The Chinese Zodiac, also known as Sheng Xiao, is represented by 12 animals. The first animal in the zodiac is the “Rat”, a symbol of wealth and surplus. Those born under the influence of this sign of the rat are natural leaders, highly intelligent and ambitious.

As in previous years, Perrelet celebrates the Chinese New Year with a timepiece from its Turbine collection dedicated to the zodiac animal of 2020.

Perrelet Turbine Rat Limited Edition watchThanks to the high degree of industrial expertise at Perrelet and the total autonomy of production, the team of watchmakers and designers of the Manufacture enjoy full creative freedom when proposing new timepieces. Original ideas, technical innovations and aesthetic details can be expressed freely and converted into reality.

Perrelet Turbine Rat Limited Edition watch

“Turbine Rat” is the result of this process and is characterised by Perrelet’s iconic Turbine Technology, which was introduced to the market just ten years ago. Since then, it has become one of the undisputed symbols of the brand along with the Double Rotor.

Housed in a 44mm steel case treated with black PVD and water-resistance of 50m, “Turbine Rat” features an intriguing dial. Protected by a sapphire crystal, the animated dial is as eye-catching as it is hypnotising.

One of the most distinctive features of this new model is the Turbine. The blades, made from anodised aluminium, are engraved with the 12 animals of the Chinese horoscope along with their respective Chinese ideogram. As the star of 2020, the rat is highlighted on the blade at 3 o’clock in an intense shade of red.

The fascinating aspect of the Turbine is its spontaneous rotation. The five tungsten counterweights applied under the blades of the turbine –which have to be perfectly balanced during assembly – allow even the slightest movement of the wrist to set the Turbine in motion.

While the Turbine completes its rotations, another image of a stylised golden rat appears on the lower dial against a bright red background.

The hours, minutes and seconds are placed on the black flange. The Arabic numerals at 15-minute intervals and the hour markers are treated with black Super-LumiNova as are the hour and minute hands. In keeping with the colour scheme of the dial, the central seconds hand is also red.

“Turbine Rat” is equipped with calibre P-331, an automatic in-house movement providing 42 hours of autonomy. The sapphire crystal caseback allows a view of the movement with its bridges decorated with Côtes de Genève.

The timepiece comes with a black rubber strap embellished with the brand’s logo and a folding buckle in black PVD-coated steel. This new creation is limited to 100 pieces.

Perrelet First Class Double Rotor Black Edition

With its impressive watchmaking heritage spanning over 240 years of history, Swiss watchmaker Perrelet is renowned today for its timepieces with ‘animated’ dials. Characterised by the iconic Double Rotor and Turbine models, these fascinating timepieces were developed in honour of founder Abraham Louis Perrelet, the precursor of the first self-winding movement. As heirs of the grand watchmaking master, every model in Perrelet’s collection bears an automatic manufacture movement.

Guided by creativity and a determination to innovate in watchmaking, the technical team at Perrelet presented the first automatic movement with a Double Rotor in 1995. Requiring five years of R&D, the Double Rotor has become the flagship style of the brand.

The new “First Class Double Rotor Black Edition” is the latest model in the First Class line. Entirely designed and produced in Perrelet’s manufacture, it benefits from patented Double Rotor technology with a double oscillating mass that allows the automatic mechanism to accumulate energy from the two rotors.

The first oscillating mass is placed under the calibre, while the second is visible on the dial allowing the owner to observe the energy supply to the movement. The perfectly synchronised rotation of the rotors feeds the barrel and provides the mechanism with a steady flow of energy, ensuring a high-performance charge.

Perrelet’s latest creation, with its view of the harmonious ‘dance’ of wheels and gears inside the beating heart of the watch, was conceived for aficionados and collectors who appreciate fine mechanics.

The “First Class Double Rotor Black Edition” is presented in a steel case with a 42mm diameter and treated – for the first time in this line – with black PVD. The case is water-resistant to 50m/5ATM. The lines of the case are fluid with rounded, bevelled lugs decorated with a vertical satin-brush finish and a contrasting polished bezel. The middle case is decorated with a combination of polished and brushed grooves as is the crown, which is personalised with an engraved Perrelet logo.

Underneath a slightly domed sapphire crystal is the skeletonised dial allowing a generous view of the manufacture movement. Calibre P-481 is an automatic movement beating at 28,800 vph with a 42-hour power reserve. The bridges and plates are rhodium-plated and decorated with a frosted finish. The double oscillating mass on the dial side is open-worked, rhodium-plated and embellished with a refined Côtes de Genève finish.

One of the rubies in the movement is visible in the centre of the rotor and in addition to avoiding wear and tear from friction, provides a vibrant touch of colour. The transparent caseback, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal reveals the main rotor, which is also open-worked, rhodium-plated and engraved with the Perrelet logo.

The central hour, minute and seconds hands are crafted in 4N rose gold as are the applied baton indices (double baton markers at 12 o’clock). The rose gold elements stand out beautifully against the black ring with its guilloché decoration featuring subtle grooves that echo the same colour as the minutes track.

The winning combination of black with rose gold and silver and the touch of ruby red in the centre of the rotor confer a sophisticated air to the dial making it a perfect timepiece for formal, elegant occasions.

The “First Class Double Rotor Black Edition” is a limited edition of 240 pieces with each corresponding number featured on the caseback. The watch is presented with a black crocodile strap and a folding clasp embellished with the brand’s logo and subtle grooves on either side to match the design of the case.

Perrelet Turbine Evo

Swiss watch manufacture Perrelet is renowned for the original dials of its timepieces animated by its exclusive “Double Rotor” technology. Patented in 1995, the double rotor quickly positioned itself as a distinctive brand code. In 2009, Perrelet launched the iconic “Turbine” model and, ever since then, its hypnotic spectacle continues to amaze in all its multiple manifestations.

The famous “Turbine” collection celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019. To commemorate this important landmark, Perrelet releases the “TURBINE EVO” with a completely overhauled design and a new in-house movement for the hours, minutes and central seconds.

Perrelet celebrates the first decade of its innovative Turbine technology and breathes life into a second generation of models decked out with mesmerizing turbines on board. The look is still sporty but its silhouette is more refined adding a touch of contemporary sophistication that is more in touch with today’s aesthetics.

The name “TURBINE EVO” perfectly captures the spirit of the new timepieces. “EVO” is taken from the word “evolution” and refers to the evolution of watch with its upgraded and enhanced performance adapted to the modern lifestyle of dynamic men. “TURBINE EVO” is housed in a new sporty-chic case with a newly designed automatic movement.

For the first time in its ten-year history, all the movements which equip this collection are covered by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certification, testifying high precision in timekeeping after having undergone a series of tests. Last but not least, another added value in comparison to the past: the new Turbine EVO comes with an integrated metal bracelet.

The stainless steel case of the “TURBINE EVO” – also available with a black PVD or a 4N rose gold PVD coating – measures 44mm in diameter and has a thickness of 13.82mm. Entirely revamped for a more refined aesthetic appeal, the case features new lugs, a flatter and smoother bezel and a fluted case band. Another element that has been completely redesigned is the more prominent crown (in the past, it was recessed in the side of the case) making winding and time-setting functions much simpler.

At the case back, the ring surrounding the sapphire crystal echoes the same decorative grooves featured on the sides of the case. The convex grooves are lined up at exactly the same position as the concave grooves on the case. A small, yet refined detail that underlines the meticulous care Perrelet invests in every single detail.

The famous 12-blade dial, a distinctive design code of all Perrelet’s turbine models, is protected under a sapphire glass. The original 3D effect created by the blades gives the impression of diving into the heart of the dial. The propeller, picked out in black anodized aluminum with five tungsten counterweights, rotates in time to the motions of the wrist. As the blades spin, a lower sub-dial is revealed with vibrant shades of red, electric blue or gold, depending on the versions. All the hour markers and the hours and minutes hands are luminescent for optimal legibility in any light conditions. As a final touch of refinement, the central seconds hand is picked out in the same color as the blades of the sub-dial.

The new “TURBINE EVO” is powered by the new in-house automatic caliber P-331 with 42 hours of power reserve. The movement has been assembled from the case back, a feature that makes any future servicing or assistance much simpler and faster. The sapphire crystal case back provides a full view of the movement with its refined finishes and the new open-worked oscillating mass personalized with the logo of the Maison.

A combination of technicality, precision and audacious design, Perrelet’s new watch is conceived for everyday use and, for the first time, combines a comfortable, highly ergonomic 5-link bracelet in stainless steel.

The bracelet is available in steel with alternating polished and satin-brushed links, in steel with a black PVD treatment, and in steel with a 4N rose gold coating.

Thanks to the new lugs, the metal bracelet is perfectly integrated into the case becoming one with the timepiece. The bracelet is fitted with a folding clasp decorated with the Perrelet logo.

“TURBINE EVO” is also available with a bi-material strap made of PU and calf leather with alligator pattern for a more distinctive look. The steel and PVD steel models come with a black strap; while the PVD rose gold comes with a brown strap. All versions are fitted with an elegant deployant buckle and engraved logo.

PERRELET WEEKEND GMT

PERRELET presents the new GMT model among the WEEK-END Collection.

With its classic, timeless design and a touch of retro yet contemporary interpretation, the WEEKEND GMT is the ideal watch for globetrotters and watch-lovers in search of elegant and refined timepieces.

The WEEKEND line is faithful to the values that have always made this Swiss brand unique: excellence in manufacturing, in keeping with the standards of Swiss watchmaking tradition in both the technique and the decorations and finishing. In tribute to the master watchmaker who founded the brand in 1777, Abraham Louis Perrelet, the inventor of the automatic movement, the WEEKEND collection is equipped with a mechanical self-winding movement offering 42-hour power reserve, and made right in the heart of the Swiss manufacture.

The WEEKEND GMT comes in addition to the “3 Hands” and “3 Hands Open Heart” models and features the practical function of the second time zone.

Its silver sun-brushed dial is sober and pure in its aesthetics, offering optimal legibility of the GMT 24-hour function thanks to the central hand with a triangular red tip on the inner polished ring with Arabic numerals. The date window at 3 o’clock completes the indications provided by the watch.

Easy to use, all the functions are simply adjusted through the single crown, including the GMT indication (crown in second position).

The WEEKEND GMT as well as the other two product lines come in a steel or PVD 4N stainless steel case, endowing them with the typical reflection of rose gold and waterproof up to 5 ATM. The dimensions are ideal (39 mm in diameter and 9.56 mm in thickness), and the perfect size for a classical casual or smart model, for daily wear or special occasions alike.

The dial, protected by an anti-reflective treated sapphire glass, is proposed – according the different collections – in the following colours: classic silver and white but also black and charcoal-grey.

All the timepieces of the WEEKEND collections are equipped with Perrelet in-house automatic calibres: P-401 for the GMT, P-321 for the 3 Hands and P-391 for the 3 Hands Open Heart, providing a power reserve of 42 hours. The transparent case back allows to admire the finely-decorated movement and the new oscillating weight.

There are numerous finishes for the oscillating mass and a well executed decoration with vertical stripes in the middle, conjuring up the effect of sunrays. The laser-engraved Perrelet logo in the middle of the oscillating weight, brings up the P logo among horizontal stripes.

The leather strap with an alligator finish, in black or brown, has a personalised pin buckle with the Perrelet logo, whose finish matches the cases of the WEEKEND collection. All the steel versions in the three collections are also available with a stainless steel bracelet.

PERRELET

Perrelet, in the tradition of its founder Abraham-Louis, the inventor of the automatic movement, places the movement at the heart of its priorities. As worthy heir of the invention, which today pulsates in all automatic watches, the Perrelet brand draws its dynamism and creativity from its legitimate patrimony and gives birth to timekeepers inspired by modernity and a resolutely future-orientated originality. The Perrelet brand reflects a timeless atmosphere that is inherent to traditional luxury watchmaking, as characterised by the key qualities of authenticity, reliability and quality.

Abraham-Louis Perrelet

Abraham-Louis Perrelet was born on the 9 January 1729 in Le Locle, during one of those long winters that numb the Neuchâtel Mountains. The fairies, mischievous companions of these wild regions, were generous when they bent over the child’s cradle: they offered him intelligence, clear-sightedness, imagination and know-how. With these exceptional gifts and his passion combined, Abraham-Louis Perrelet would inscribe his name in golden letters in the annals of watchmaking and in those of craftsmen of genius.

His father, Daniel Perrelet, was a farmer and a carpenter. During the interminable winter months he made tools, some of which were extremely fine and designed for watchmakers’ use. From his adolescence onwards,it was only natural for Abraham-Louis to follow in his father’s footsteps and work in the field of toolmaking. His path in life seemed clearly mapped out: he wanted to become a watchmaker. From that moment on, he found his vocation, in which he would more than excel and accomplish as much on a professional as on a human level. He innovated and perfected a range of new combinations to improve the way timepieces ran. He thus became the first person in Le Locle to produce cylinder escapements, duplex escapements, perpetual calendar escapements and equation of time escapements. He created the draft model, gave it the finishing touches, pinions, wheels, escapement and winding mechanism.

In spite of his young age, he had already built himself a solid reputation and his expert opinion was much sought after. He was also one of the most popular master watchmakers of his time. Abraham-Louis Breguet was trained in his workshops, as was his own grandson, Louis-Frédéric Perrelet, who went on to become official watchmaker to the Kings of France. He readily answered every one of the questions his colleagues asked him when they were faced with all sorts of difficulties, and at a single glance he was able to spot all the flaws which spoilt his competitors’ work. He spent his entire life at his family home, and remained very attached to his town and his origins. He passed away at Le Locle in 1826 after working for almost 80 years on perfecting his art, the art of watchmaking.

In the world of watchmaking, there are those who invent and create and those who, with skill and patience, perfect the designs of others. In this world you will rub shoulders with excellent craftsmen, who are often greatly admired. Praiseworthy representatives of contemporary watch-making. This world also includes men whose genius at a given moment revolutionised the way things were done: these are the discoverers, and Abraham-Louis Perrelet was one of them. There are innumerable accounts testifying to this fabulous discovery of inventing the automatic watch by Abraham-Louis Perrelet.

Thus, in 1777, Professor Horace-Bénédict de Saussure, one of the founders of the Société des Arts de Genève (Geneva Arts Society), embarked on a journey through the Neuchâtel region to make some useful investigations by visiting the watchmaking manufacturers and craftsmen. He informed the committee that a certain Mr Perrelet, a watchmaker from Le Locle, had made a special watch constructed in such a manner that it wound itself automatically in a person’s pocket just by the movement he made while walking, and that it ran for eight days.

In his personal notes, de Saussure noted: «…from there we went to Mr Perrelet, the inventor of the watch which self-winds just through the movement of the person carrying it … He had to make the first model again because he hadn’t installed a stop mechanism and, on one occasion, when the selfwinding mechanism was shaken too much by a man running to the post office, it broke the watch. Mr Perrelet has now integrated an efficient stop mechanism. He had a lot of trouble finding out how to make it, but it works».

As for Frédéric-Samuel Osterwald, whom you may recall contributed to the editing of the Encyclopaedia of Diderot and d’Alembert, he asked Jacques-Louis Perrot for news about the watchmaking industry in the Neuchâtel Mountains. The latter replied as follows: «The perpetual motion watches which were invented two or three years ago in our mountains have aroused considerable curiosity and have done more than merely bring fame to these parts; these are bigger watches than usual and they are self-winding: all the wearer has to do is to walk around the room several times during the day, 8 minutes’ walk is enough to wind them up for 24 hours…».

At the Court of Versailles, the Abbot of Versailles and Paris, Joseph-Grellet Desprades, expressed a marked interest in this invention, regarding which he had written seventeen letters to Mr Osterwald. Over the past 100 years, numerous historians have studied the rich heritage of Swiss watchmaking and extolled its origins. They have contributed as much to specialist publications as they have to prestigious brands in researching their past and have paid tribute to Abraham-Louis Perrelet, recognising him as the inventor of automatic watches.

The Perrelet family constitutes a true dynasty in watchmaking. The descendants of Abraham-Louis Perrelet, known as «the elder», took up the torch, although they did not have his talent, with the exception of his grandson, Louis-Frédéric (1781-1854), whose name also went down in the history of watchmaking inventions. When he was born on 14 May 1781, Louis-Frédéric Perrelet inherited the ‘watchmaking genius’ of his grandfather, Abraham- Louis Perrelet. They resembled each other and were hungry to discover. Abraham-Louis detected at a very early stage this predisposition of Louis Frédéric for mechanics and mathematics. Having been trained by his grandfather, Louis-Frédéric headed for the French capital. At that time, the value of a period abroad to accomplish a vocation was inestimable.

At the age of 21, Louis-Frédéric joined Abraham-Louis Breguet, in whose workshops he perfected the training he had received from his grandfather. He was given the task of training watchmakers, however his growing interest in areas related to astronomy, physics and mathematics, led him to conceive so-called “scholarly” clocks. It wasn’t long before he proved himself as an independent watchmaker, thanks to an astronomic clock conceived in 1815 and presented at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1823.

It was during this period that Louis-Frédéric Perrelet founded his own atelier in partnership with his son Louis. At that time he was at the height of his career and perfectly integrated in the very closed circle of talented watchmakers. His reputation as a man of science extended to all the courts of Europe. He became watchmaker-mechanic to 3 kings of France – Louis XVIII, Charles X and Louis-Philippe.

In 1827, on the occasion of the Exhibition of Products from French Industry, he presented his exceptional counter of physics and astronomy with a fly-back hand. This article, for which he was officially awarded a patent in March 1828, earned him the Medal of the Academy of Sciences in 1830.

As honorific proof of his Europe-wide reputation, Louis- Frédéric Perrelet, esteemed for his talent and his perseverance and besides the many gold medals he received, was elevated to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1834.This chronograph counter with fly-back hand is currently on display at the Patek Phillipe Museum in Geneva. Preserved under the best conditions, it will remain one of the most beautiful watchmaking pieces of the period and magnificent evidence of a period of industrial creativity, which was incredibly productive.

On Louis-Frédéric’s death in 1854 his son Louis, who was also a watchmaker to the king, took over his father’s business and carried on with the family tradition. It is thus thanks to the descendants, many of whom were watchmakers themselves, that the tradition of Abraham- Louis Perrelet, known as «the elder», has lived on to the twenty-first century. Today, the brand Perrelet considers as one of its most important missions to interpret the rich heritage of its founder in a true and modern way.

Perrelet Turbine Macau (ref. A1047/A) & Turbine Monte Carlo (A1051/A)

Perrelet’s Turbine collection welcomes two new timepieces, the ‘Turbine Macau’ and the ‘Turbine Monte Carlo’, both to be released in a limited edition of 100 pieces.

The Turbine, with its 12 anodized aluminum blades, features 5 tungsten counterweights enabling it to turn freely with a simple movement of the wrist. This is a highly complex technical element requiring intricate mastery of the assembly process so that all the components are perfectly balanced and operate optimally. This technology is not limited to the three-hand models – it is also used for the chronograph and GMT functions and associated with the spectacular Turbillon (a cross between a Turbine and a tourbillon). One of the main characteristics of this technology is the way the turbine gives free rein to imagination and creativity, with the sub-dials able to take on different ‘faces’. The rotation of the turbine results in numerous combinations of colors and visuals, creating a series of polychromatic effects for the observer.

Turbine Macau (ref. A1047/A)

The Turbine Macau (ref. A1047/A) is available in a round 44 mm case in black PDV-treated steel, with a dial consisting of three parts: first, the black subdial screen-printed in the four suits of a deck of cards which appear as greyed-out wallpaper.

Each suit is then highlighted in black or red, alternating with the luminous Arabic numerals which indicate the time. Thus there is a red heart between 12 and 3, a club between 3 and 6, a diamond between 6 and 9 and finally a spade between 9 and 12. The beauty of the dial lies in the rotating 12 blades of the black turbine.

The third element of the dial is the flange from which the minutes can be read at 15-minute intervals (15, 30, 45 and 60) while the seconds are read from tiny red rectangles, apart from 60-second point, which is indicated by a green marker.

Turbine Monte Carlo (A1051/A)

The new Turbine Monte Carlo (A1051/A) – more generously sized compared to the Turbine Macau – boasts a 48 mm case, in PVD-treated black steel, featuring the fluting typical of the Turbine collection and an integrated crown at 3 o’clock. Its particularly elaborately wrought dial includes a fourth element described below. When the wrist is turned, the black turbine reveals a red-and-black subdial, evocative of a roulette wheel. The red and black form a circular board whose segments are framed by a gold band.

The black areas bear the hour markers 3, 6, 9, and 12 while the red areas contain good luck symbols. There is, for example, the inevitable horseshoe, but also a dollar sign, the number 777, which represents the jackpot on a one-armed bandit, but which is also a favorite at Perrelet as the house was founded in 1777, and finally a four-leaf clover.

Above the turbine, the Arabic numerals on the flange indicate the minutes in 10-minute intervals. Meanwhile, the odd-number hours are marked in red: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11). Between the turbine and the dial is the fourth component: a sandblasted glass ring bearing the word ‘automatic’ and giving the ring greater depth. The warm rose gold hue of the white luminescent hands and the small central ring of the turbine serve to enhance the dial’s spectacular effect.

The Turbine Macau and the Turbine Monte Carlo are powered by the P-331 mechanical self-winding Manufacture caliber: with Turbine technology, 28,800 vph (4Hz), a 42-hour power reserve and water-resistant to 5 ATM. The exquisitely finished movement, its oscillating weight decorated with the brand logo, is visible through the transparent caseback.

Both watches are fitted with a rubber strap with folding buckle in PDV-treated black steel for the Macau model, and with black PVD-treated ardillon buckle for the Monte Carlo model.

Perrelet Weekend Collection

At Basel 2017 Watch Fair, Perrelet unveiled the all-new WEEKEND collection of watches featuring a classic, timeless design with a touch of retro yet contemporary style that will satisfy watch-lovers in search of elegant and refined timepieces.

In tribute to the master watchmaker who founded the brand in 1777, Abraham Louis Perrelet, the WEEKEND collection has a mechanical automatic winding movement offering 72-hour power reserve.  The addition of an oscillating weight to the movement created the DNA of Perrelet, its distinguishing feature. The other interpretations of this technological development, the Double Rotor and the Turbine, are two iconic models by Perrelet, made right in the heart of the Swiss manufacture.

There are three different lines in the WEEKEND collection: 3 hands, Open Heart and GMT. All three models come in a steel or PVD 4N stainless steel case, endowing them with the typical reflection of rose gold. The dimensions are ideal (a 39 mm in diameter and 9.56 mm thickness), making WEEKEND the perfect size for a classical casual or smart model, for daily wear or special occasions alike. The dial is equipped with anti-reflective treated sapphire glass, with a rigorously researched design, in different colours: classic silver and white but also black and charcoal-grey for certain versions. The hands are the same colour as the case, except on the WEEKEND 3 hands, whose numbers and hands are blue on a white face.

The WEEKEND Open Heart model brings special emphasis on watchmaking technology, enabling micromechanics lovers to admire the heart of this piece, as the regulating organ is visible thanks to an opening at 6 o’clock.

The dial of the WEEKEND GMT is sober and pure in its aesthetics, making it easier to read the GMT 24-hour function thanks to the central blue hand, on which a triangular tip shows the second time zone all around the outside of the dial.

The automatic calibres of the 3 hands, Open Heart and GMT models in the WEEKEND collection are P-321-2-H, P-391-2-H and P-401-2-H respectively, providing a power reserve of three days and 5 ATM water resistance. The transparent case back means you can admire the movement and the new oscillating weight. There are numerous finishes for the oscillating weight and decoration, with vertical stripes in the middle, conjuring up the effect of sunrays. The Perrelet logo, laser engraved in the middle of the half-moon on the weight, brings up the P logo among horizontal stripes.

The leather strap with an alligator finish, black or brown, has a personalised pin buckle with the Perrelet logo, whose finish matches the cases of the WEEKEND collection. All the steel versions in the three collections are also available with a stainless steel bracelet.

Perrelet Turbine Chrono Sport Limited Edition

Swiss watch manufacture Perrelet expands its emblematic Turbine collection with the new “Chrono Sport”, a model which celebrates the world of football.

Its unique Turbine technology, first developed by the manufacturer in 2009, and quickly recognized as icon of the brand, took a step forward with its first Turbine chronograph in 2013.  In 2017, the Manufacture is unveiling a 77-piece limited edition new version of the Turbine Chrono, the “Chrono Sport”, with a more modern and contemporary look. At Perrelet, the “7” is a recurring number with an emotional resonance for the company as a reminder of 1777, the year the company was founded.

The Turbine Chrono offers an interesting innovation in the design of the chronograph. Perrelet’s technicians and designers have succeeded in bringing together an astounding new aesthetics while ensuring excellent legibility of the chronographic functions, all without obscuring the distinctive identity of this collection.

Chronograph watches usually display round or square subsidiary counters. The new Turbine Chrono Sport definitively breaks the rules. Its dial immediately reveals an additional disc of sapphire glass. A push of the button at 2 o’clock, starts the red second hand of the chronograph visualizing the score on the peripheral flange of the central disc. The central disc is graduated in red every 15 minutes, ranging from 00 to 45. This last number recalls the half-time of a football match that inspired the Chrono Sport. The chronographic minutes are displayed in the small window opposite the red “Start” pointer, positioned at 9 o’clock (ref. A1079/3). This counter can be reset pressing the push-button at 4 o’clock. Thanks to the transparency of this unique minute counter, the emblematic Turbine remains perfectly visible.

The Turbine, composed of 10 black anodised aluminium blades with five tungsten counterweights underneath, is the distinctive element of this new timepiece which starts moving with even the slightest movement of the wrist. The blades, enhanced by the hexagonal pattern recalling the parts of a soccer ball, spin rapidly revealing a sub-dial printed with the same decoration but in larger-dimensions, as well as the always useful date window at 6 o’clock.

The black PVD steel case, with its generous 47mm diameter, shows the typical fluted case band, a signature feature of the Turbine collections and includes a tachymetric scale on its bezel. A second version, also only available as a limited edition of 77 pieces, offers more discrete grey details (ref. A1079/2) instead of the bright red ones. Both models are equipped with the P-361 automatic movement offering a 42-hour power reserve and a water resistance to 5 ATM.

The Turbine Chrono Sport comes with a bi-material strap in black nylon with rubber lining and red or grey stitching, depending on the version. The folding black PVD steel buckle is decorated with the Perrelet logo.

Perrelet Turbine Pilot (Ref. A1095/2 and A1095/1)

Swiss watch brand Perrelet welcomes new additions to its “Turbine Pilot” family of watches.

The Turbine model, icon of the brand, is the most dynamic interpretation of the Double Rotor technology, the identifying symbol of the Perrelet brand.  The new Turbine Pilot, with a sporty look, finds its inspiration in the world of aeronautics. Just as in the cockpit of a plane, the Turbine Pilot is equipped with essential instruments for flight: the circular slide rule on the bi-directional inner rotating ring, adjustable thanks to the crown at 3 o’clock.

This new interpretation of the Turbine Pilot conserves all the features of professional aviation instruments, skillfully adding a new element: the turbine, independent from the movement, composed of 12 black anodized aluminium blades that rotate incredibly quickly at the slightest movement of the wrist, thanks to the tungsten counterweights under the blades.

In tribute to the blue of the sky, the hour, minute and second hands, as well as the raised indexes and the Arabic numerals 3,6,9,12 on the sapphire glass – take on an intense luminescent electric blue (Turbine Pilot A1095/2). The minute circle has the same tone. The electric blue stripes contrast with the black under-dial, as does the spiral which decorates the central part of the turbine.

For those who appreciate “tone on tone”, luminescent grey takes the place of electric blue, thereby giving birth to a new version with a more discreet style (the Turbine Pilot A1095/1).

The Turbine Pilot is equipped with a Perrelet P-331 automatic calibre, made in-house at the brand’s workshops. It has a power reserve of 42 hours and is waterproof to 5ATM. The movement, with its open-worked oscillating weight decorated with the Perrelet logo, is visible thanks to the transparent case back.

The Turbine Pilot boasts a two-material black leather and rubber alligator strap, with a black PVD stainless steel clasp and the Perrelet logo.

Perrelet Turbine Rooster Limited Edition

With the new limited edition “Turbine Rooster” timepiece, Swiss luxury watch maker Perrelet pays tribute to the Chinese New Year that begins on 28 January 2017 under the sign of the Rooster.

The major highlight of this new timepiece is the turbine with its 12 anodised aluminium blades, finely decorated with the twelve signs of the Chinese horoscope. These are engraved – in matching tones – either figuratively or in Chinese characters. 2017 is the year of the Rooster, and the Rooster stands out in a brilliant red on the 6 o’clock blade.

The Turbine, which requires a perfect balance during its assembly to ensure optimal operation, features 5 tungsten counterpoises positioned under the blades. These ensure the oscillation of the Turbine with the slightest movement of the wrist and allow the systematic repositioning of the Rooster sign at 6 o’clock.

The rotation of the Turbine reveals a red sub-dial livened up by the Rooster Zodiac sign in Chinese characters, made out of 5N rose gold PVD with a profile outlined in black.

The last component of the dial is the black flange on which are indicated the hours, the minutes and the seconds. The Arabic numerals indicating minutes stand out at every 15 minutes and the indexes, arranged on a scale of 5, are covered with black SuperLuminova, as well as the hours and minutes hands. In perfect harmony with the style of the dial, the central seconds hand is red. This gorgeous dial protected by a sapphire glass presents a fascinating show in its round 44mm case and 13mm in thickness, in black PVD treated steel, with vertical grooves on the middle and the integrated crown at 3 o’clock.

The heart of this new Turbine Rooster, with its P-331 Manufacture Calibre, which guarantees a power reserve of 42 hours and a water resistance of up to 5 ATM, will offer mechanical watchmaking enthusiasts the pleasure of owning a timepiece that is not only reliable but also unique in its style. The elegant decoration of the movement, with bridges adorned with a “Côtes de Genève” motif, is visible through the sapphire crystal case-back.

Produced in a limited edition of 100 timepieces, the individual serial number is engraved on the case-back of each Turbine Rooster. The watch comes with a black rubber bracelet and a steel folding clasp with black PVD coating and Perrelet logo.

Perrelet New “Diamond Flower Amytis” In Pastel Shades

With the Diamond Flower Amytis, Perrelet is offering a collection intended for women with a penchant for elegance and refined style.

The Diamond Flower Amytis offers an imaginary journey through the hanging gardens of Babylon, created by Nebuchadnezzar in tribute to the beauty of his wife, Queen Amytis of Media, whose name inspired this feminine collection.

The Swiss watchmaker Perrelet stands out through the originality of its dial enlivened by the Double Rotor function patented in 1995 that has become a signature feature. This particular model now admirably embodies its expertise in highlighting both watchmaking techniques and artistic crafts. Launched last year in black or white dial versions, the Double Rotor Amytis appears clothed in delicate shades such as ivory or blue.

This watch with its 36.5 mm-diameter case is equipped with Manufacture Caliber P-181-H, an automatic Double Rotor movement. One of its twin oscillating weights is visible on the dial side, while the rotation of the perfectly synchronized rotors drives the barrels and ensures more efficient winding.

The dial-side oscillating weight is an authentic work of art involving several artisan-style skills. The finely crafted petals and leaves are expertly cut out, rhodium-plated, sandblasted and decorated with precious materials such as diamonds (16 totaling 0.067cts) and mother-of-pearl, thereby endowing this rotor – an important component of automatic movements – with great originality.

The oscillating weight thus appears to dance gracefully across the dial in step with wrist movements. The two variations both feature delicate pastel shades. The ivory-toned version features a sunburst blue dial graced with a contrasting white mother-of-pearl half-moon along with yellow Roman numerals converging towards the center and lending an original touch of character; while the beauty of the version with a sky blue strap is magnified by a white mother-of-pearl applique against a light blue background bearing violet blue Roman numerals.

The Diamond Flower Amytis thereby pays fresh tribute to Perrelet’s Double Rotor and appears fitted with white or blue alligator straps or a steel bracelet depending on the dial color, secured by a steel folding clasp.

Perrelet Lab Collection

At Baselworld 2016, Perrelet has presented its very latest creation: “LAB”.

Perrelet, a name bound up with the origins of the automatic movement, is founded on a proud horological tradition faithfully perpetuated since 1777 and that has never ceased to surprise observers. Fired by powerful creativity and a boundless spirit of innovation, the Swiss-based Maison offers devotees of fine watchmaking a range of exclusively mechanical and impeccable finished timepieces.

After broadening the classic “First Class” line in recent years, as well as enriching the ladies’ collection with “Amytis”, and the sportier “Turbine” range, the new “LAB” model heralds a casual chic collection admirably complementing the current collections.

Building on its mastery of all phases involved in producing a watch in-house via its own Manufactures, ranging from the development and production of movement components –including the escapement, the regulating organ and the balance -spring – to designing and crafting the cases, dials and finishing work, Perrelet has thus given rise to the LAB.

This timepiece remains true to the values and DNA of the brand with its signature “dial in motion”. While the many variations of the latter include the classic Double Rotor, the Turbine or the Amytis for women, Perrelet has opted for a discreet and refined version in the LAB line. Its Manufacture movement enables the LAB to combine technical perfection with a captivating and innovative design.

The stainless steel 42 x 42 mm case is cushion-shaped with soft, rounded lines along with brushed and polished lugs. The case middle features a vertical decoration composed of tiny raised rectangles. The polished octagonal bezel with its satin-brushed profile endow the model with considerable character. The case-back fitted with a sapphire crystal is assembled with six screws, forming a sturdy and strong case guaranteed water-resistant to 5 bar.

Particular attention has been devoted to the architecture of the dial boasting an original construction. A three-dimensional effect is achieved by the multi-level structure graced with a variety of finishes. The dial available in silver-toned, anthracite or black versions features a central part adorned with vertical lines, while the rim is circular-brushed. The cut-out hour-markers enhanced with white SuperLuminova are applied to a sapphire crystal ring, giving the impression that they are literally floating on air. The unusual decision to use a transparent element was specifically intended to enable the owner of the LAB watch to admire the most distinctive feature of this timepiece: its oscillating weight.

While the latter is generally visible through the case-back, the LAB watch enables passionate devotees of the watchmaking art to observe the motion of the oscillating weight while reading the time. This technical innovation was made possible by Caliber P-411, produced within the Manufacture. The oscillating weight is fixed to a toothed wheel (with toothing on the inside) known as a “couronne”, itself positioned on the outer part of the movement that meshes with a pinion placed on the outer rim of the movement. The rotor is adorned with a screw-down plate bearing a slanted-line decoration that may be admired through the transparent hours ring.

Displaying the hours, minutes and seconds by central hands and the date at 6 o’clock, the LAB has a 42-hour power reserve.

The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap and a stainless steel folding clasp with the Perrelet logo.

Perrelet First Class Double Rotor Blue

Double Rotor technology, the signature feature that has forged the current reputation of Perrelet timepieces, is highlighted in the classic “First Class Double Rotor” collection.

The technical innovation represented by the first Double Rotor movement was developed in 1995 –after five years of research and development – in tribute to Abraham-Louis Perrelet, who founded the brand in 1777.

The double oscillating weight enables the mechanism to draw its energy from the two rotors. The first is positioned beneath the caliber, while the second is visible on the dial side, thus enabling its owner to observe the rotation of the two perfectly synchronized oscillating weights powering the barrel and ensuring more efficient winding force. More than 20 years after its introduction, this innovation continues to surprise observers with unique creations that express the Perrelet tradition through an exclusive and contemporary style.

The First Class Double Rotor collection, presented last year in a new style featuring a steel case with smooth, flowing lines and a silver-toned or black dial – as well as in a 77-piece pink gold limited edition with a “Skeleton” dial created to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Double Rotor –appears in a new 2016 variation.

The elegant 42 mm-diameter stainless steel case frames a refined dial in a new cobalt-blue shade, against which the second rotor, rhodium-plated and finely adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, stands out with distinct clarity. The center of the rotor features the 26th movement jewel which serves an important mechanical function in that it helps avoid the wear caused by friction, as well adding a brightly colorful touch. The dial swept over by central hours, minutes and seconds hands, as well as displaying the date at 6 o’clock, features a finely grained finish in the center, while the hours ring – bearing applied hour-markers – is adorned with a vertical guilloché motif.

The First Class Double Rotor is powered by a Manufacture Perrelet automatic P-181-H movement beating at 28,800 vph, with a 42-hour power reserve and water resistance to 5 bar.

The watch is fitted with a black alligator leather strap secured by a folding clasp bearing the Perrelet name, or with a stainless steel bracelet.

Perrelet First Class Double Rotor Skeleton – Double Rotor 20th Anniversary Model

PERRELET celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Double Rotor movement by unveiling the special edition First Class Double Rotor Skeleton timepiece.

In 1995, as a tribute to Abraham-Louis Perrelet, inventor of the automatic movement in 1777 and to perpetuate a longstanding tradition of avant-garde horology, the PERRELET watchmakers presented the first Double Rotor P-181 caliber automatically wound by an oscillating weight and stemming from more than five years of research and development. From a technical standpoint the Double Rotor constituted a major watchmaking breakthrough, since the mechanism derived its energy from two rotors. The first, called the oscillating weight, is placed beneath the moment, while the second, the upper rotor, is positioned on the dial side and provides a simple and natural way of observing the automatic winding function in action.

The perfectly synchronized rotation of the two rotors powers the barrel, thus supplying the mechanism with a continuous source of energy. This mechanism ensures winding that is faster as well as more stable and efficient than a classic system. Moreover, the 26th jewel of the movement, which is visible on dial, proves a valuable substitute for the ball bearing mechanism by ensuring a reduced friction coefficient. On an aesthetic level, the mobile Double Rotor spins on its axis at the slightest wrist movement and thus endows each collection with unique character and personality, enabling the timepieces to easily reveal their distinctive aesthetic: classic, contemporary, masculine, feminine, understated or extravagant. This patented invention materializes the quintessence of the watchmaking art, represents the brand’s emblematic icon, and contributes to consolidating PERRELET’s international reputation and recognition.

Perrelet First Class Double Rotor Skeleton – Double Rotor 20th Anniversary Model

20 YEARS OF THE DOUBLE ROTOR

  • 1995: The Dipteros model is the first PERRELET model equipped with the Double Rotor mechanism. The classic round case frames three hands sweeping around a white dial displaying the second 18K gold rotor in the center.
  • 1997: The Double Rotor appears in the feminine mode, with the Lady Tempest and Lady R models featuring a central diamond-set heart.
  • 1999: PERRELET develops the Skeleton Watch Double, the first double rotor skeleton watch.
  • 2000: The brand creates an automatic chronograph, the Grand Maître Chronograph, equipped with a Double Rotor movement visible at 12 o’clock. This same year, the new Rectangle Royal watch reveals a Double Rotor movement housed in a rectangular shaped case.
  • 2005: The Double Rotor unexpectedly adorns a tonneau shaped case. PERRELET also presents a new version of the Classic Double Rotor model, a timepiece distinguished by pure lines and contemporary materials.
  • 2008: Ladies are offered a special treat with a lotus flower-shaped upper rotor adding a fresh creative touch to the Diamond Flower ladies’ collection.
  • 2009: A new creative direction. The concept inspires a new generation of PERRELET watch designers to devise a more dynamic interpretation of the Double Rotor, the Turbine family. Equipped with titanium blades, the propeller-shaped upper rotor becomes a “turbine” and covers the entire dial. Disconnected from the movement oscillating weight, the turbine spins at full speed and creates spectacular visual effects. The Turbine rapidly becomes an iconic PERRELET model.
  • 2013 : In keeping with its pioneering spirit and keen to find new ways of expressing its watchmaking expertise, PERRELET reinforces its Turbine collection in 2013 by offering a first-ever association between the playful creativity of this line and horological complications. This approach gives rise to the Turbine Chrono and Turbillon models.
  • 2015: In 2015, 20 years after its launch, PERRELET celebrates the anniversary of its emblematic Double Rotor concept.

Perrelet First Class Double Rotor Skeleton
In this exclusive limited series produced to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its invention, PERRELET raises the Double Rotor mechanism to a new peak or refinement.

With the First Class Double Rotor Skeleton, equipped with an in-house Manufacture movement, Caliber P-481, PERRELET associates the horological tradition of its innovative Double Rotor concept with its skeleton-work expertise.

Through this ingenious combination, the open-worked dial enables the eye to move freely into the depths of the mechanism, gently rocked by the natural rhythm of the second rotor. The collection introduces two original timepieces, of which each detail flaunts the brand’s watchmaking expertise.

The 42.5 mm-diameter round case in stainless steel or 18K 4N rose gold is enhanced by elegant fluting on the sides, traditional decoration and the PERRELET signature. The finely fluted dial punctuated by golden hour-markers is generously open-worked in the center to reveal the entire movement.

The 18K 4N rose gold Double Rotor thus highlighted features a brand-new design with a “Côtes de Genève” finish and a special engraving to mark this jubilee. Loyal to its history, PERRELET has maintained the visible jewel at the center of the mechanism, thus enlivening the décor with a distinctive accent. A genuine alligator leather strap fitted with an 18K 4N rose gold folding clasp adds a final touch of elegance.

This splendid First Class Double Rotor Skeleton with its pure, restrained lines is issued in limited series of 250 for the steel model and 77 for the rose gold model.

Perrelet Turbine Skeleton

Perrelet mingles its technical expertise with a flair for contemporary aesthetics in creating the Turbine Skeleton collection. For the very first time, the Maison combines a skeleton movement with a turbine, thereby completely reinventing its iconic model: the details and dimensions are redesigned and the materials are evolving, as Perrelet takes on a new challenge thanks to a unique horological concept.

The very nature of a skeleton timepiece lies in playing with transparency effects. That is precisely what Perrelet achieves by entirely skeletonizing its finely crafted in-house movement, Caliber P-381, featuring cut-out effects revealing its inner workings. The Perrelet engravers and watchmakers demonstrate peerless finesse in performing this stunning skeletonization requiring a high degree of competence and accurate knowledge of the movement’s technical constraints. The finely trimmed components and finishes add a final touch to the beauty of the movement.

Perrelet also masters these transparency effects in aesthetic terms, since they represent the main feature of the concept behind the Turbine collections. On this model, the aluminum turbine is directly mounted on the under-dial, itself openworked so as not to obstruct the view inside. When spinning at full speed, the movement’s ethereal architecture is revealed through each of its openings.

The 44 mm-diameter case of this new collection is available in steel with a black PVD coating, or fitted with a 4N pink gold bezel. The inner bezel ring ensures optimal readability thanks to luminescent Arabic numerals and hour-markers. The hour and minute hands are coated in Superluminova, while the red seconds hand stands out clearly against this backdrop. The timepieces in the Turbine Skeleton collection are fitted with innovative black bi-material straps: calfskin leather with a polyurethane core to guarantee ergonomics and a comfortable feel on the wrist; or black rubber for a resolutely sporty look.

Perrelet Diamond Flower Amytis

Luxury Swiss watch maker PERRELET enriches its Diamond Flower feminine line with a new model named Diamond Flower Amytis which embodies all the mastery of the watchmaking art along with a keen flair for feminine aesthetic details.

This name with age-old overtones is inspired by the history of the hanging gardens of Babylon, the stunning architectural treasures built by Nebuchadnezzar to remind his wife, Amytis of Media, of the forest-covered mountains of her native land. With its original Diamond Flower Amytis collection, PERRELET thereby pays tribute to one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and doubtless the most beautiful, while evoking the grace and beauty of Amytis of Media, Queen of Babylon.

The collection is equipped with a movement automatically wound via an oscillating weight, the Double Rotor P-181-H, patented by PERRELET and entirely produced within its Manufacture. It affords the opportunity of observing two rotors: one on the dial side, and the other on the movement side. Their perfectly synchronized coordination drives the barrel and ensures more efficient winding. This fascinating mechanism is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, since it was developed by the brand engineers in 1995 and has been regularly reinterpreted ever since.

In the Diamond Flower Amytis collection, the rotor on the dial side depicts flower petals swaying in time with wrist movements and creating a suspended effect in reference to the hanging gardens of Babylon. Each woman thus plays an active role in the life of her watch through her own gestures.

The collection is composed of three models, featuring a stainless steel 36.5 mm-diameter stainless steel case fitted with a see-through sapphire crystal caseback. A model with a black or white mother-of-pearl dial and matching alligator leather strap is enhanced by an open-worked Double Rotor shaped like flower petals and partially set with diamonds.

Another even more precious version is distinguished by a diamond-set bezel framing a white and anthracite dial, while the Double Rotor is adorned with petals and enhanced by white mother-of-pearl and diamonds. On all three models, elegant Roman numerals converging towards the center endow this collection with an ultimate touch of character and originality.

Perrelet Classic Double Rotor Collection

Through its fascinatingly creative 2014 models, the Classic Double Rotor collection by Perrelet provides a new interpretation of its unique charm. Its exclusive technical nature is highlighted through an original chromatic approach.

Perrelet offers a collection exuding a traditional appeal, within which the brand’s inventiveness mingles with the originality and singularity of a double-rotor movement – a patented invention from the House embodying the brand’s very quintessence. The Double Rotor enables its user to admire at all times the delicate oscillating movement that recharges the movement and enhances automatic winding.

Perrelet’s Classic Double Rotor collection presents two unusual timepieces of which each and every detail proclaims the brand’s expertise. The 40 mm-diameter stainless steel round case is topped by a smooth bezel providing an admirable counterpoint for the fluting of the case middle – a traditional decorative touch that has become a House signature.

The black and white dial forms an ideal backdrop for welcoming and highlighting a series of gold-toned details arranged in concentric circles. The gold-toned hour-markers around the circumference pick up the shape and colour of the hours and minutes hands, while an inner gold circle marks off the seconds and frames the 6 o’clock date window. At the very center of the dial, the second rotor distinguished by its gold toned colour swings gently around a red heart matching the shade of the seconds hand.

The watches in the Classic Double Rotor collection are equipped with the exclusive double-rotor P-181 movement oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour (4 Hz), and endowed with a 42-hour power reserve.

Each watch in the collection is teamed with a refined black alligator leather strap secured by a push piece fastening steel folding clasp.

Perrelet Turbine XL Red

The colour red, symbolizing action, passion and strength, infuses the new dial of Perrelet’s two latest Turbine XL models with the powerful intensity associated with the dynamic principle of this collection.

In creating the first Turbine, the Perrelet engineers and designers devised a concept based on a sophisticated aesthetic featuring energetic, sporty lines. They drew inspiration from aeronautics in dreaming up an essentially visual rather than technical interpretation of Perrelet’s patented Double Rotor.

The latter is transformed into a turbine fitted with 12 titanium blades and which, when set into motion, provides tantalizing glimpses of the spectacular red and black under-dial. The hour-markers on the black inner bezel ring accentuate the optical effect and contribute to the mesmeric fascination of this model.

This imposingly virile timepiece radiates undeniable strength with its 48 mm case available in an all black PVD-coated stainless steel version or a two-tone variation with titanium case middle and black PVD-coated bezel and caseback. A rubber strap with a pin buckle complements the challenger-style spirit of this watch, while the compact nature of its design is highlighted by the discreet crown merging seamlessly into the case.

Admirably reflecting both the horological expertise and the artistic skills cultivated by Perrelet, the Turbine XL is driven by the self-winding P-331 movement with a 42-hour power reserve. This fine mechanism entirely developed and produced in-house at the brand’s production sites may be admired through a transparent sapphire caseback.

Perrelet – Turbine Yacht and Turbine Diver

Swiss luxury watch brand Perrelet celebrates the beauty of the sea and the desire for discovery with two timepieces featuring high technical performance and unique design: Turbine Yacht and Turbine Diver. these timepieces are driven by the exclusive P-331 caliber, entirely produced in the Perrelet workshops. This movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 42-hour power reserve. Specially designed for ocean adventures, both Turbine Yacht and Turbine Diver timepieces offer an exceptional water resistance up to 300 meters.

Perrelet Turbine Yacht Collection
The Turbine Yacht collection is a new watch line that will prove an excellent seagoing companion, combining Perrelet’s famous Turbine with a function stemming from the maritime world: the windrose. The Turbine Yacht, an evolved version of the Turbine Diver model, combines within a single watch the aesthetic and ornamental design codes of the most prestigious ships.

The 47 mm-diameter steel case of the Turbine Yacht, water-resistant to 300 meters, comes in several colors thanks to a black or bronze-toned PVD coating.

The dial is enlivened by a titanium turbine featuring 11 blades reminiscent of a submarine propeller, rotating above a resolutely marine-themed décor of parallel lines evoking the teakwood decking of a yacht. The under-dial is further enhanced by a central metal applique.

The Turbine Yacht will thus offer the possibility of keeping to the set course and following a given direction thanks to the integrated windrose function.

Simply taking a few points of reference and orientation from the position of the sun will be enough to deduce the various cardinal directions.

Perrelet Turbine Diver Collection
With Perrelet, the sea may be explored by skimming across the surface, as well as in depth with models from the Turbine Diver collection providing an opportunity to adorn the wrist with a timepiece featuring various diving-inspired functions and technical characteristics.

The Turbine Diver collection comprises four models with a 47 mm-diameter steel case, water-resistant to 30 atmospheres, some of them bearing a black PVD coating. The inner rotating bezel ring serves to take easy immersion-time measurements and provides a highly legible display on a 20-minute segment by means of a play on colors and volumes.

This function is controlled via a screw-locked crown at 10 o’clock that prevents inadvertent handling while diving. On the Diver line, the 11-blade titanium turbine spins freely over an under-dial coated with Superluminova, which glows and diffuses a vivid color in the underwater darkness.

Superluminova also covers the Arabic numerals, the main hour-markers as well as the subtly black-rimmed hours and minutes hands.

PERRELET TURBINE XL VEGAS

Swiss luxury watch brand Perrelet enhances its TURBINE XL VEGAS collection with three new models in XL 48 mm-diameter versions: Turbine XL Poker; Turbine XL Playing with Fire; Turbine XL Roulette. The décor of all of these special editions in limited series of 250 examples each was inspired by the elegant universe of the casino and world capital of entertainment.

The Turbine XL Poker conceals a winning hand that is only revealed when the titanium turbine spins at full speed and turn by turn displays a fan of cards decorating the under-dial: a pair of sevens and two Royal Flushes, one spades and one hearts.

Turbine XL Poker

Gold ignites the under-dial of the Turbine XL Playing With Fire. The pure refinement of a golden base radiantly illuminates the black case, of which the sombre elegance highlights the clarity of the gold-toned hands and hour-markers. According to the speed of the turbine’s rotation, the gold shines, erupting in glowing splendour between the blades until it fuses into a profusion of luminous bouquets.

Turbine XL Playing With Fire

The Turbine XL Roulette is dedicated to the queen of gaming saloons. The red and black divisions of the famous “wheel of fortune” compose an original motif on the under-dial and make the turbine an ideal ally in revealing the winning numbers. The white hour and minute hands bring to mind the pristine white of the ball thrown by the croupier, discreetly reproduced under the Turbine and immobilised on the number 7, Perrelet’s symbolic number.

Turbine XL Roulette

All the watches in the Turbine XL Vegas collection feature black PVD-coated steel cases and are fitted with black rubber straps. Perrelet has equipped these timepieces with the Manufacture P-331 self-winding movement.

PERRELET TURBINE PILOT

The new Turbine Pilot collection by Perrelet associates the Turbine concept with that of the circular aviation slide rule: a new technical and stylistic exercise for a truly unique aviator watch.

At the heart of the collection beats the mechanical automatic P-331 caliber entirely developed and produced in-house at the brand’s production sites. The four models in the collection assert a unique character marrying power and elegance. The stainless steel cases display a generous 48 mm-diameter featuring the Perrelet’s distinctive fluted pattern.

Ensuring a resolutely masculine and sporty look, some models come in steel cases with a black PVD coating, a treatment ensuring excellent protection and enhancing the refined aesthetics of the watch. The bidirectional rotating dial ring is activated via a crown at 3 o’clock, while the time is set with an integrated crown at 9 o’clock.

The luminescent white hour-markers and four Arabic numerals meticulously applied on the sapphire dial, above the Turbine, make a striking contrast with the yellow and black background: a combination of typical aviation colours that is further intensified when the Turbine is in action.

The clever layered arrangement of the elements gives this collection a distinctive three-dimensional look. To ensure optimal readability, the dial and the spiral at the dial center are luminescent white.

The straps chosen for this collection are in black rubber or calf leather. The latter are ingeniously constructed in a manner guaranteeing an optimal fit and absolute comfort. To perfect the overall harmony of the Turbine Pilot, the pin buckles bear the same finishes as the cases.

Perrelet New Diamond Flower Gold Collection

Swiss luxury watchmaker Perrelet interprets its range of exclusively feminine timepieces, New Diamond Flower, in a refined pink gold version. Dressed to seduce, the New Diamond Flower Gold will be a perfect gift to a lover on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

The New Diamond Flower Gold is inspired from the beautiful lotus flower. Soft colours, together with simple and harmonious lines, express a naturally sensual femininity.

The unusual 36.5 mm-diameter case in 4N 18K gold houses the self-winding P-181 movement with a Double Rotor, exclusively patented by Perrelet and guaranteeing a 42-hour power reserve.

Expressing the creative audacity and technical expertise of the House, the second rotor serving to wind the mechanism takes on the original and graceful appearance of a lotus flower dancing across the dial – itself adorned with an evocative motif recalling waves rippling across a pond.

Three precious petals set with 24 diamonds form the indexes, interspersed with elegant Roman numerals marking off the main hours – a subtle combination enlivening the dial gracefully swept over by the hours, minutes and seconds hands.

The strap, either in alligator leather or a sportier, supple and comfortable rubber version, comes in three different shades to match the dial colour: pure white, intense black and delectable chocolate. The folding clasp is enhanced by a precious pink gold cover.
