Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow

Oris has expanded its Divers Sixty-Five by adding a new model with a grey gradient dial.

The Divers Sixty-Five is a retro-styled timepiece inspired from the independent Swiss brand’s first diver’s watch, created in 1965. The new iteration with grey gradient dial stands out because of the high-contrast turquoise lume applied to the watch’s hands, hour markers and triangle dot at 12 o’clock.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow

This glows a bright turquoise green in low light conditions such as those found underwater, but even in daylight, the contrasts in the materials and colours give extraordinary clarity to the dial.

The instantly recognizable 40mm stainless steel case is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel. Secured with a screw-in security crown, screwed-stainless steel case-back and domed sapphire crystal front glass, this new model has a water resistance of 10 bar/100 metres.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow

Inside beats a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement, which provides a power reserve of 38 hours when fully wound.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Glow watch comes on a black leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

Oris Aquis Date Upcycle

Honouring its contributions towards the protection of environment, independent climate action experts ClimatePartner has recently certified Swiss watch brand Oris as climate neutral.

To mark the start of this new chapter, the independent Swiss company is introducing the Aquis Date Upcycle, a version of Oris’ high-performance diver’s watch with a colourful dial made of recycled PET plastic.

Oris Aquis Date Upcycle

Oris, together with its global network of partners and suppliers, has been taking part in World Cleanup Day for a number of years. Its new partner #tide has produced special Oris ’Cleanup Bags’ made from recycled ocean plastic for supporting the Swiss brand’s clean-up missions across the world.

#tide is a specialist plastic recycling company based in Switzerland that uses an innovative production method to turn 100 per cent ocean-bound plastic into a new premium raw material.

#tide is committed to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and has saved 15 million PET plastic bottles from entering the ocean. Its recycling processes save 52 per cent of the energy used in creating virgin plastics, and its production methods cause 79 per cent less greenhouse gas emissions.

Oris Aquis Date Upcycle

The Aquis Date Upcycle is available with either a 41.5 mm or 36.5 mm case, both with recycled ocean-plastic dials. Each watch will be unique because the plastic recycling process produces random patterns, meaning no two dials will be the same.

Beyond the dial, the watches share their architecture with the popular Aquis Date 41.5 mm and 36.5 mm models. Both have a stainless steel case and a unidirectional rotating diver’s bezel with a scratch-resistant grey ceramic insert.

Oris Aquis Date Upcycle

They also have a stainless steel bracelet with a clasp extension system, crown protectors, a screw-down crown and a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement. Every watch comes in a grey presentation box made from sustainable and recyclable paper.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

Swiss watchmaker Oris has released an exceptional series of 21 limited-edition watches built to the specifications of the iconic Swiss Air-Rescue Rega.

Back in 2016, Oris entered into a partnership with Swiss Air-Rescue Rega, which has been offering aero-medical services for almost seven decades and is recognised worldwide for its excellence and professionalism. Oris created a watch for Rega that year and again in 2018.

Now, the brand has launched the third collaborative collection. It consists of 21 limited edition watches symbolizing the number of aircrafts in Rega’s fleet. Only 100 of each timepiece will be made. Total number of watches in this collection will be 2,100.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

Rega, one of Switzerland’s proudest and most trusted organisations, was founded in 1952. It’s now patronised by almost half the Swiss population, and is among the world’s most recognisable air rescue services, symbolised by its iconic red helicopters and crew members in their red uniforms. Today, it serves as an integral part of the Swiss healthcare system, with 13 helicopter bases and a fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft.

From these bases, Rega operates 18 rescue helicopters and can reach anywhere in the area it covers within 15 minutes of an emergency call. Each base has a crew of pilot, paramedic and emergency flight physician ready to go, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While it’s famous for its high-altitude mountain rescues, Rega’s service covers all medical emergencies, from road accidents to sudden illness.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

During the pandemic, the organisation’s role has become even more significant. In 2020, it organised more than 16,000 missions and brought medical assistance by air to 11,000 people in distress. Thanks to previous investments made in patient isolation units, it also repatriated 140 Covid-19 patients on board its ambulance jets.

To this day, Rega remains a privately run, non-profit organisation funded by a patronage system, whereby private individuals make regular contributions to the running of the service.

Rega operates 18 rescue helicopters and three fixed-wing aircraft as follows:

  • 7 Airbus H145 Helicopters for versatile operations across Switzerland.
  • 11 AgustaWestland Da Vinci Helicopters for mountain operations.
  • 3 Bombardier Challenger 650 jets for repatriation flights, worldwide.

Each of these 21 aircrafts has been identified by their registrations. Oris pays tribute to its partner Rega by introducing 21 limited-edition watches, each a series of 100 pieces carrying a case back engraved with one of the service’s 21 aircraft.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

The design of the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E. was specified by Rega crew. They suggested the need of a robust, accurate and reliable wristwatch featuring clean, ultra-legible dials. In addition, the crew demanded the GMT function for recording logbook times and a pulsometer scale that could serve as back-up to electronic machines that measure patients’ heart rates.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

Its black dial has high-contrast white hands and numerals filled with high grade Super-LumiNova®. Its stainless steel case and Oris-patented ‘Lift’ clasp are coated in anti-reflective gunmetal grey PVD. It has a clearly indicated second time zone.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

And engraved into its bi-directional rotating bezel are a red triangle for timing the “golden hour” (the first hour after injury during which a patient’s chances of recovery are highest), and a pulsometer scale, read off with a white-tipped central seconds hand. The added leather and rubber straps with a quick change system.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

One pilot suggested to link watches to individual aircraft to reflect the close bond crews and patients often develop with them. So Oris created 21 different case backs, each engraved with the outline of a Rega aircraft and its registrations.

Caseback highlighting Rega’s Airbus Helicopters H145: The twin-engine H145 features cutting-edge avionics and navigation technology, is equipped with a four-axis autopilot, and can also perform satellite based approach flights with extreme precision. Its spacious cabin means that it is predestined for special intensive care patient transports, such as with a heart-lung machine or a mobile incubator for premature babies.

Caseback highlighting Rega’s AgustaWestland Da Vinci Helicopter: AgustaWestland developed the Da Vinci helicopter according to Rega’s strict, clearly defined specifications. The rescue helicopter is used on all Rega’s mountain bases. It optimally fulfils the high demands made of it in terms of flying characteristics, emergency medical equipment and maintenance.

Caseback highlighting Bombardier Challenger 650 Jet Aircraft: Rega’s three Challenger 650 ambulance jets are used all over the world by seriously ill or injured people. Equipped like an intensive care unit, they fly up to four lying patients back home. Rega’s ambulance jets are extremely versatile. Up to four patients – two of them intensive care patients – can be transported lying down at the same time.

For these special watches, Oris also created a water-resistant red Ventile® pouch, complete with a second quick-change strap in hygienic, easy-clean red rubber and a tool for changing the clasp.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Rega Fleet L.E.

The pouch has a number of elastic straps for tweezers, plasters and bandages so it can be upgraded to a pocket first aid kit.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition

Swiss luxury watch brand Oris has created a limited-edition Big Crown ProPilot watch to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Botswana’s aeromedical rescue organisation Okavango Air Rescue.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition

Okavango Air Rescue (O.A.R.) was founded by Swiss entrepreneur Christian Gross and German-born Dr Misha S. Kruck in 2011. Since then, this aeromedical rescue organisation has been operating in Botswana, a sparsely populated country with lots of remote communities.

Christian was a conservationist as well as a businessman, and had already established environmental organisations such as Animal Management Consultancy and the Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Wildlife. Misha had vast medical experience and had worked all over the world, including during stints at International Red Cross and Rega, the Swiss air rescue service.

Okavango Air Rescue (O.A.R.)
Christian Gross and Dr Misha S. Kruck founded Okavango Air Rescue in 2011

They moved to Botswana in 2011 and set up O.A.R., a privately-owned and independently funded service that operates helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, as well as a polyclinic, to bring quality medical care to locals and tourists visiting the country.

Oris has recently announced a partnership with O.A.R., and a new watch made to celebrate the service’s 10th anniversary.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition

The Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition watch is based on the Oris Big Crown ProPilot. Its green dial is inspired by the grasses of the Okavango Delta, and it comes on an exclusive green fabric strap created by Erika’s Originals.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition

The watch is also supplied with an additional brown leather strap. Dressed in a 41mm diameter stainless steel case, the watch houses a Swiss made automatic movement with 38 hours power reserve.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition

It has two large baton-style hands for displaying hour and minutes. Its black centre seconds hand features red-colouring on the tip.  The indices are also embedded with Super-LumiNova®. The dial also has a date window at 3 o’ clock.

Oris Big Crown ProPilot Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition

On the stainless steel case-back, the Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition watch features special engravings.

Limited to 2,011 pieces to mark the founding year of the Okavango Air Rescue Service, each timepiece will be delivered in a leather travel pouch.

About Okavango Delta

Botswana’s Okavango Delta is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, covers a flat area of more than 20,000km2, and in 2014, it became the 1,000th site to be inscribed onto the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The delta, which is made up of grasslands, marshes, lagoons and thousands of islands, is produced by seasonal flooding, peaking between June and August, Botswana’s dry winter months. During this period, it swells to three times its normal size, causing one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife.

Okavango Delta, Botswana
Okavango Delta, Botswana

Botswana is home to the ‘Big Five’ game animals: the lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros. Together with giraffe, hippos, cheetah, crocodiles and many other species, they make the Okavango Delta one of Africa’s most popular tourist destinations. Almost as diverse is the human population, which is made up of five ethnic groups, each of which has its own language. In the main, their livelihood comes from the delta.

Until the Okavango Air Rescue (O.A.R.) was established in 2011, local people and tourists requiring medical evacuation from remote areas had to wait for aircraft to arrive from neighbouring South Africa.

Okavango Air Rescue (O.A.R.)
Okavango Air Rescue (O.A.R.)

Today, O.A.R. covers the delta area and the Southern African continent, flying two PC-12 fixed-wing aircraft and two Bell Jetranger 206 III helicopters. Visitors to the country are encouraged to take up a ‘patronage’, a contribution that helps the organisation continue its mission.

O.A.R. asks for a minimum of 150 pula, around US$15, an annual figure that’s roughly equivalent to buying a can of Coke once a month. The successful system was developed by Switzerland’s Rega air rescue service.

In an emergency, O.A.R. will send a medically equipped helicopter and an emergency doctor to rescue patrons – and non-patrons. Any charges are considered later, usually through an insurance company. If those rescued don’t have insurance and can’t afford to pay, O.A.R. waives the cost.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2021

On 1st June this year, Oris introduced the Hölstein Edition 2021, a 250-piece limited-edition version of the Big Crown pilot’s watch. Dressed in a 38mm stainless steel case, it is the first watch to house the in-house developed Oris Calibre 403, a new automatic from the Calibre 400 Series.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2021

The Big Crown is Oris’s signature design. It’s been in the collection, in constant production, since 1938 when it was introduced as a tool for gloved airmen. It was named after its oversized crown, and designed to be easy to operate during flight.

The Hölstein Edition 2021 is based on the Big Crown and powered by Oris Calibre 403. Its stand-out function was a pointer date, a central hand that pointed to a date scale running round the edge of the dial.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2021

The Hölstein Edition 2021 brings this story up to date with a special case inspired by the pre-war original. For this model, Oris has stripped back the fluted bezel and domed crystal; in their place are a flat bezel and sharper, crisper lines. The grey palette reflects the industrial methods Oris pioneered in the first half of the 20th century, while the newly developed numerals are based on references from the Oris archive.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2021

Inside it is Oris Calibre 403, which shares the same base architecture and same high performance as our in-house Calibre 400 automatic – a five-day power reserve, elevated levels of anti-magnetism and a 10-year warranty. Added to these features are a small seconds at 6 o’clock and the famous pointer date function. It’s a class-leading movement created for the modern world, telling a much-loved story.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2021

It’s also the first 38mm Big Crown this century, and each piece has the Oris Bear on the case back with its limited-edition number.

Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, Second Generation

Swiss watch brand Oris has launched the second generation of Aquis Depth Gauge, one of the world’s most innovative and most distinctive high-performance diver’s watches. A professional grade diving watch, the Aquis Depth Gauge uses a complex scientific principle to create an easy-to-use depth gauge function that’s also safe and accurate.

Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, Second Generation

The new Oris Aquis Depth Gauge watch features three key improvements:

  1. Depth gauge system: In the new watch, the process used to mill the channel into the outer edge of the crystal has been refined so the accuracy and legibility of the Gauge are increased.
  2. Metres-to-feet conversion chart: The caseback has been re-engineered so the metres-to-feet conversion chart is always set at 90 degrees to the 12o’clock position.
  3. The new patented Quick Strap Change system.

This second generation Aquis Depth Gauge watch has a massive 45.80mm diameter stainless steel case and black dial with date at 6 o’ clock and yellow gauge.

Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, Second Generation

Behind the Aquis Depth Gauge’s inventive solution for measuring depth underwater is the Boyle-Mariotte Law, which states for gases that ‘pressure x volume = constant’.

Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, Second Generation

Oris’s engineers calculated that the volume of air in a channel milled into the sapphire crystal would reduce during a dive, compressed under pressure. So during a dive, the volume of air compresses, allowing water to enter the channel. The air then decompresses during an ascent, forcing the water out of the hole. Oris has patented this development.

Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, Second Generation

The hole leading to the channel milled into the outer edge of the sapphire crystal is at 12 o’clock. On dry land, it’s filled with air.

On entering the water, that air is compressed by water pressure. Water then enters the hole and begins to fill the space created in the channel. This in turn creates a watermark visible through the crystal. The watermark corresponds to a yellow gauge running around the outside of the dial, and the two combine to indicate depth. The second-generation watch has a more finely grained channel than before, making the indication even clearer.

The Aquis Depth Gauge allows water into the crystal, but it doesn’t allow water into the watch itself – this would damage the watch’s automatic mechanical movement. Oris engineered the watch so that water can only enter the channel through the hole in the crystal. A gasket around the crystal seals the watch, and is so reliable that Oris has certified the watch as water-resistant to 50 bar (500 metres).

Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, Second Generation

The second generation of the Aquis Depth Gauge is equipped with the independent Swiss watch company’s patented strap change system. A mechanism built into the stainless steel metal bracelet and the black rubber strap means that the wearer can quickly and simply switch from one to the other and back again.

Oris Dat Watt Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand Oris introduces a special edition diving timepiece created with the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat and its mission to conserve the Wadden Sea, the world’s largest tidal system and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Based on the Oris Aquis diver’s watch, the Dat Watt Limited Edition is named after a local dialect for the Wadden Sea.

Oris Dat Watt Limited Edition

Known for their contributions for conserving the nature, Oris has been working with non-profit environmental organisations and clean-up movements all over the world. The latest project is with the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS), a tri-lateral organisation covering Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands that works to conserve and protect the Wadden Sea, the world’s largest unbroken tidal flat system. In 2009, UNESCO awarded it World Heritage Site status to reflect its importance to global biodiversity.

The Wadden Sea

The Wadden Sea is the largest unbroken tidal flat and barrier-island depositional system in the world. Covering 11,500km2 in the North Sea, it is largely flat and hugely bio-diverse. At any one time, there are more than 6 million birds inside its borders. Each year, between 10 and 12 million migratory birds pass through it. The salt marshes host around 2,300 species of flora and fauna, and there are a further 2,700 species in the marine and brackish areas, and more than 30 species of breeding birds.

The Wadden Sea

The Wadden Sea covers an area of 11,500km2, has a 500km coastline and is a vital stopping point for more than 10 million migratory birds every year. This makes it one of the most important natural properties on the planet. In fact, experts have calculated that biodiversity on a worldwide scale is reliant on the Wadden Sea.

The Wadden Sea

To this point, it’s also remarkable because it’s one of the few remaining natural large scale intertidal ecosystems where natural processes continue to function largely undisturbed. This is why it needs protecting. As with so many marine environments, the Wadden Sea is under constant threat from fishing, harbour development, oil and gas rigs, wind farms, maritime traffic, residential and tourism development, and the impact of climate change. This is the role of the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat, acting on behalf of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation. Its executive secretary is Bernard Baerends.

This organization is funded on an equal one-third basis by the three nature and environment ministries of Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. Its partnership with Oris is the first with a private company outside the Wadden Sea area. This relationship set to run for a minimum of three years. It begins with the specially developed Dat Watt Limited Edition – Dat Watt means ‘the Wadden Sea’ in Low German.

Oris Dat Watt Limited Edition

The Dat Watt Limited Edition is a special diving timepiece based on the brand’s popular Aquis family of diving watches.

Its dial displays the lunar cycle and tidal range in the Northern Hemisphere via the Oris-developed Pointer Moon function, created for professional divers. This works using a central white pointer hand that once aligned with the correct day in the 29.5-day lunar cycle, shows the corresponding tidal range via the white outline on the dial. The same hand indicates the waxing and waning of the moon.

01 761 7765 4185-Set - Oris Dat Watt Limited Edition

Featuring a 43.50mm diameter case in stainless steel, the watch has a water resistance of 300 meters. This 2,009 piece limited edition marks the year the Wadden Sea was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

Oris AquisPro Date Calibre 400

Oris presents a new edition of its professional diving watch AquisPro Date with the brand’s in-house Calibre 400 movement.

With an incredible water resistance of 1000 meters, Oris AquisPro Date is a highly technical tool diving watch chosen by professional divers who work on complex engineering projects in helium-enriched environments hundreds of metres below the water’s surface.

Oris AquisPro Date Calibre 400

The AquisPro Date watch is equipped with Oris’s patented Rotation Safety System, known as RSS. This exclusive Oris device enables the wearer to adjust and lock the unidirectional rotating bezel into place. This means that during a dive they can read off remaining dive time with absolute certainty. A chunky rubber grip makes it easy to operate, even when gloved, while a yellow and white minutes scale engraved into the scratch-resistant ceramic bezel insert delivers high levels of low-light legibility.

Oris AquisPro Date Calibre 400

The new AquisPro Date Calibre 400 model has a high-grade, lightweight titanium case plated in low-glare black DLC that makes its 49.50 mm case diameter extremely comfortable on the wrist. It has a solid yet comfortable rubber strap with titanium buckle. This patented Sliding Sledge Clasp can be adjusted to very fine tolerances without taking the watch off, so that when getting in or out of even the thickest wetsuit, you can loosen or tighten the strap hassle-free.

Oris AquisPro Date Calibre 400

The rubber strap also features the Oris Safety Anchor, developed by Oris so that in the event the clasp is released unintentionally, two hooks grab the strap so the watch stays attached to the wearer’s wrist.

Conceived entirely in-house by the independent Swiss watch company, Calibre 400 has a five-day power reserve. Boasting elevated levels of anti-magnetism, superior accuracy compared to a chronometer, Calibre 400 is the new standard in Swiss Made automatic mechanical movements. It comes with a 10-year warranty and 10-year recommended service intervals.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

On 15th October this year, Swiss watch maker Oris unveiled Calibre 400, the brand’s new generation mechanical self-winding movement featuring enhanced anti-magnetic features and an incredible power reserve of five days.

The much-awaited Oris in-house Calibre 400 set a new standard for automatic mechanical movements. This modern mechanical movement was developed entirely in-house by Oris watchmakers and Engineers. It comes with 10-year recommended service intervals and a 10-year warranty.

On 29th October, the brand announced its new diving watch model Aquis Date Calibre 400, the first Oris timepiece to be equipped with the newly released movement.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

Oris’s engineers identified that one of the most frequent issues with automatic mechanical movements concerns the ball-bearing system that allows the free-spinning oscillating weight (or rotor) to rotate. This is a critical element of an automatic watch – as the rotor spins, it generates power that’s stored in the mainspring, which is housed in the barrel.

Oris removed the ball bearing altogether and replaced it with a low-friction slide bearing system, in which a metal stud runs through a lubricated sleeve. This is much less complex, highly efficient, and involves far less wear and tear, making it less prone to breakdowns.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400
Oris Calibre 400

The movement provides an impressive 120 hours (5 days) power-reserve via twin barrels, both of which house an extended mainspring, each long enough to store two-and-a-half days of power.

Most mechanical watch movements will be magnetised if exposed to the strong magnetic forces we encounter in daily life. When this happens, they become less accurate, and can stop altogether. To make it highly antimagnetic, Oris engineered Calibre 400 using more than 30 non-ferrous and anti-magnetic components, including a silicon escape wheel and a silicon anchor. In testing by the renowned Laboratoire Dubois, Calibre 400 deviated by less than 10 seconds a day after exposure to 2,250 gauss.

For context, the latest version of the ISO 764 standard for anti-magnetic watches requires that to qualify as anti-magnetic, a watch must be accurate to within 30 seconds a day after exposure to 200 gauss. Calibre 400 recorded one third of the deviation allowed after exposure to more than 11 times the force permitted, making it a highly anti-magnetic movement.

The movement features 21 jewels and beats at 28’800 vph (4Hz). It follows the three-hands and date lay-out featuring centre hands for hours, minutes and seconds functions and a date window at 6’ o clock.

The Oris 400 movement measures 30.00 mm (13 1/4’’’) diameter. It is larger than Cal. 733 (Base Sellita SW 200-1 movement, 25.60 mm or 11½’’’), which has been used for the Aquis Date models since long time.

The Calibre 400 features the same dial lay-out as the SW 200-1 movement: Three hands and date. The new automatic calibre also incorporates instantaneous date mechanism, date corrector, fine timing device and stop-second. In terms of autonomy, the Calibre 400, which is a twin-barrel movement, provides 120 hours of power reserve where as SW 200-1 offers a power reserve of 38 hours.

Naturally, the first watch to house Oris’s innovative automatic movement is the Aquis Date, a popular model from the brand’s contemporary diver’s watch collection.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

For this new Aquis Date watch, Oris has selected a large diameter case probably due to the large diameter of the Calibre 400 in comparison with SW 200-1 movement. This 43.50 mm diameter stainless steel watch also features a large sapphire crystal case-back for a generous view of the movement. The new diving instrument still maintains its robust and stylish exterior.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

At the same time, the watch is still water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres), has a uni-directional rotating bezel with a scratchproof ceramic insert for safely timing dives, and SuperLumiNova® hands and indices. It’s also equipped with Oris’s newest patented development, the Quick Strap Change system, engineered so a bracelet or strap can be released simply by lifting a flap.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

The new Aquis Date, powered by Calibre 400, has a number of differences to the standard model. The words ‘5 DAYS’ written on the gradient blue dial of the new model indicate the presence of Calibre 400. The date window is also larger and the date disc is black, rather than white.

Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400

The brand is also offering a 10-year warranty on all Oris watches powered by the new movement when you register them at MyOris. In addition, Oris is also proposing 10-year recommended service intervals on Calibre 400 watches.

Oris Roberto Clemente Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand Oris pays tribute to the legendary baseball player Roberto Clemente and the humanitarian work of the Roberto Clemente Foundation with a limited edition watch.

This special edition watch was launched on 09 September 2020. The launch of the watch coincides with Roberto Clemente Day, which celebrates his story and legacy.

Oris Roberto Clemente Limited Edition

With this special edition collection, Oris has also kickstarted a new partnership with the Roberto Clemente Foundation, a humanitarian organisation named in honour of baseball’s Roberto Clemente and run by his family.

Born in Puerto Rico in 1934, Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker would go on to become one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the game. He was also a passionate humanitarian and activist and lived to serve others by bringing real change in his home country and his local community.

Oris Roberto Clemente Forbes Field

From humble beginnings, Roberto’s life changed quickly. At 17, he began his career in the Puerto Rican Professional Baseball League and a year later moved to the U.S. to join the Brooklyn Dodgers organisation.

In the years that followed, he would overcome discrimination because of the colour of his skin, and become a baseball legend. In 1955, he made his Major League debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he would stay for 18 seasons.

Roberto Clemente Portrait

He was an exceptional athlete, with a mighty throwing arm. He won two World Series with the Pirates and became a 12-time winner of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, before reaching 3,000 hits with the last hit of his career in September 1972, making him the first Latin American player to reach the mark.

Oris Roberto Clemente

During the following winter, Nicaragua was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, leaving as many as 11,000 people dead and 300,000 without a home. Roberto, who had been involved in community work throughout his career, sent aid, but discovered his shipments had gone missing in the chaos, almost certainly diverted by corrupt local officials.

He insisted on accompanying the next shipment to make sure it reached the people who needed it most, and on December 31, he boarded a plane. It would never reach its destination. Roberto Clemente died, serving others, aged just 38. The plane crashed into the sea and his body was never found.

But his name lived on. In 1973, Roberto was posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The same year, the Commissioner’s Award, awarded annually to a Major League player for their work in the community, was renamed the Roberto Clemente Award. And Roberto’s number 21 was retired by the Pirates.

In 1993, the Roberto Clemente Foundation was established with a mission to ‘Build Nations of Good’. Headed by his widow Vera and now his son Luis Clemente, it continues his proud legacy of bringing real change.

The Roberto Clemente limited edition watch is based on the Big Crown Pointer Date model from the brand’s Aviation family. It features a 40 mm diameter stainless steel case with special engravings on the solid screwed case-back.

Oris Hangang Limited Edition

This year, Swiss watch brand Oris is partnering with Seoul KFEM, part of the Korean Federation for Environmental Movements, by issuing the Oris Hangang Limited Edition watch that highlights the plight of the Hangang River in South Korea.

Oris Hangang Limited Edition

The Hangang is South Korea’s second longest but most important river because it supplies water to the 10 million inhabitants of the country’s capital, Seoul. But years of neglect have left it dirty, polluted and in desperate need of restoration.

Seoul KFEM is a part of the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements, South Korea’s largest environmental non-governmental organisation. One of Seoul KFEM’s projects is to clean up and protect the Hangang River, which runs through South Korea’s capital city.

Oris Hangang Limited Edition

As part of the new partnership, Oris will be supporting a series of clean-up days Seoul KFEM has scheduled for later this year. During these, hundreds of local volunteers will work along the river to pick up litter, plastic and other harmful pollutants. The events will also help raise awareness of the importance of clean water in Seoul.

To support the organisation’s wider mission to protect the river, Oris is also introducing the Oris Hangang Limited Edition. Sales of the 2,000-piece limited edition watch will help fund the Hangang clean-up project.

Oris Hangang Limited Edition

The Hangang Limited Edition watch is based on the high-performance Aquis diver’s watch. It has a 43.50 mm stainless steel case with a unidirectional rotating bezel for safely recording dive times. The deep green colour of both the ceramic bezel insert and the dial are inspired by creek waters found at the Hangang’s source.

Oris Hangang Limited Edition

The Oris Hangang Limited Edition is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 metres) and is powered by an automatic movement that provides the watch with a small seconds and a circular date window. The case back is decorated with an engraving of a map of the Hangang’s path across Korea, and the limited edition number.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)

Oris has created a new limited edition diver’s watch to support Coral Restoration Foundation, a Florida-based organisation that has become the world’s leading expert on coral restoration.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)

Earlier this year, Oris released the first Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, a 50-piece limited edition gold version of the Aquis GMT diver’s watch, to raise funds and awareness for the foundation. Now, Oris is releasing a second piece in stainless steel, limited to 2,000 pieces and also produced in support of the foundation.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)

With the new Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, Oris is continuing its support of Coral Restoration Foundation. Based in Florida, the foundation has developed restoration methods that have been adopted by enterprises around the world, including the Reef Restoration Foundation, which Oris partnered with last year for the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)

Oris began working with Coral Restoration Foundation in 2014 as part of its mission to bring Change for the Better. That year, the organisation’s founder, Ken Nedimyer, was recognised as Oris’s Sea Hero of the Year and given a grant towards the foundation’s work. The first watch collaboration followed in 2017 (Oris Staghorn Restoration Limited Edition) and proved to be a huge success in raising funds and awareness for the foundation.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)with orange rubber strap

The name Carysfort is taken from the iconic Carysfort Reef, a coral reef in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary near Key Largo, Florida. Carysfort is part of the Florida Reef Tract. It is the third largest barrier reef in the world and the only barrier reef in the USA. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was the epicenter of the early recreational dive industry.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)

Over the last 40 to 50 years, the reef has been severely degraded and coral populations in the Keys have declined by around 98 per cent. But all is not lost. The foundation has been working to restore Carysfort Reef since 2014 and has already made significant strides towards securing its future. So far, the foundation has returned nearly 25,000 corals to the reef through its out-planting programmes, a figure that will rise to at least 30,000 by the end of 2020.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition (In Stainless Steel)

The third watch Oris has produced in support of Coral Restoration Foundation is limited to 2,000 pieces and cased in steel. It can show the time in three time zones simultaneously using the 24-hour scale laser-engraved into the ceramic bezel.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

Oris celebrates its roots with the first in a series of limited edition pieces named in honour of the Swiss village of Hölstein where the company was founded more than a century ago.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

On 1 June 1904, Paul Cattin and Georges Christian signed a contract in the Swiss village of Hölstein that began a story that would span many generations. The contract gave the two watchmakers permission to set up and run their own watch company. They named it after a local creek: Oris. More than a century later, Oris and Hölstein have become synonymous with one another. The village and the surrounding Waldenburg Valley have shaped Oris’s philosophy, just as Oris has shaped the area and its identity.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

On June 15 this year, Oris opened a new chapter in the story, releasing the first in a series of limited-edition watches named in honour of Hölstein. The Oris Hölstein Edition 2020 is cast in solid bronze, including the bracelet. It is the first Swiss Made watch with a solid bronze bracelet.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

The Oris Hölstein Edition 2020 is a bronze version of the Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph. It is inspired by the funky, quirky designs of the 1960s, when Oris made its first diver’s watch and started a tradition that continues today.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

Its case, bezel, bezel insert, crown and pushers are all cast in solid bronze. The stainless steel case back is embossed with the Oris Bear, which is a symbol of the Oris spirit – warm and honest.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

The watch features a gold plated dial with black chronograph counters and rose gold-plated indices. Its hour and minute hands as well as hour-markers are embedded with Super-LumiNova® luminescent material to ensure visibility during low light conditions.

Oris Hölstein Edition 2020

This chronograph watch is a powered by a self-winding movement with a power reserve of 48 hours. The Oris Hölstein Edition 2020 is available in a limited series of 250 pieces.

Jazz fans will recognise James first as a trumpeter, and it’s this instrument that is most closely linked to the watch created in his name.

The watch is an automatic time-only piece and features a stunning blue gradient ‘dégradé’ dial and golden hands and indices. The central seconds hand counterbalance is shaped like the finger hook of a trumpet.

Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand Oris announces the Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, the second limited edition diver’s watch made in partnership with Coral Restoration Foundation, the world’s leading coral restoration organisation.

Oris will donate three 18-carat yellow gold watches from the run of 50 limited edition pieces to the non-profit organisation, which will auction numbers 02/50, 03/50 and 04/50 at a series of events this spring. The purpose of this special gold edition is to raise as much as possible in support of the foundation’s pioneering activities.

01 798 7754 6185-Set - Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition

Oris has been working with Coral Restoration Foundation since 2014 as part of its mission to bring Change for the Better. That year, the organisation’s founder, Ken Nedimyer, was recognised as Oris’s Sea Hero of the Year and given a grant to help further the foundation’s work. The first watch collaboration followed in 2017 and proved to be a huge success in raising funds and awareness for the foundation.

The Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition is the first Oris Aquis model produced in solid gold. The case is cast in 18-carat yellow gold, complemented by a solid 18-carat gold bezel with a black and blue ceramic insert. The automatic mechanical watch has a GMT function and can show the time in three time zones simultaneously using the 24-hour scale laser-engraved into the bezel.

01 798 7754 6185-Set - Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition

Coral Restoration Foundation is based in Florida and has become the world’s leading expert on coral restoration. Its reef restoration methods, which reintroduce coral to damaged reefs, have been adopted by a growing number of enterprises around the world, including the Reef Restoration Foundation, which Oris partnered with last year for the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III.

The name Carysfort is taken from the Carysfort Reef, a coral reef in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary near Key Largo, Florida. Carysfort is part of the Florida Reef Tract, which is the third largest barrier reef in the world and the only barrier reef in the USA.

The foundation has been working to restore Carysfort Reef since 2014 and has already made significant strides towards securing its future. This year, its restoration programme is accelerating. So far, the foundation has returned nearly 25,000 corals to the reef, a figure that will rise to at least 30,000 by the end of 2020. It’s a remarkable achievement, and the result of incredible vision, energy and commitment.

The Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition is based on Oris’s high-performance Aquis diver’s watch and features the same standard specifications, including water resistance to 300 metres. But it is the first Oris diver’s watch produced in solid 18-carat yellow gold – the case, bezel, crown and crown protectors are all made of the precious material. Its hands are yellow-gold-plated and filled with luminescent Super-LumiNova®, including the ‘lollipop’ central seconds hand.

The automatic mechanical watch has a GMT, or second time zone function, indicated by a central hand that makes a full tour of the dial once every 24 hours. A second time zone can be read off against a 24-hour chapter ring on the dial, while a laser-engraved 24-hour scale on the bi-directional rotating bezel can be used to indicate a third time zone. The bezel insert is made of scratch- and fade-resistant black and blue ceramic, designed to indicate day and night time for an additional time zone. The watch has a sapphire crystal over a gradient blue dial that darkens towards the edge, and a date window at 3 o’clock.

01 798 7754 6185-Set - Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition

The solid gold case back has a sapphire crystal inlay decorated with the limited edition number and a special motif celebrating Coral Restoration Foundation’s milestone of 30,000 corals planted.

The watch is set on a blue leather strap with a rubber coating. Each of the 50 pieces made will be presented in a special wooden box.

Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition

With this new special edition collection, Swiss watch brand Oris continues its mission to conserve water, the source of life.

The Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition is based on the high-performance Oris Aquis diver’s watch and made in partnership with the Lake Baikal Foundation. Sales of the watch will help raise funds in support of ‘Point No.1’, a Lake Baikal conservation project run by the Scientific Research Institute of Biology at Irkutsk State University that’s also the longest-running and most detailed environmental water monitoring project in scientific history. ‘Point No.1’ is supported by the foundation.

01 733 7730 4175-Set – Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition

Siberia’s Lake Baikal, which scientists believe is 25 million years old, is hugely important. It holds 20 per cent of the world’s fresh lake water reserves. It’s the deepest lake in the world at 1,642 metres, some 300 rivers flow into it, and it is home to thousands of species of endemic plants and animals. But it’s under threat from man-made pollution, much of it created by careless industry.

‘Point No.1’ is an historic scientific research centre that has been monitoring Lake Baikal’s freshwater reserves for 75 years.

Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition

‘Point No.1’ was founded in 1945 and is recognised as the longest-running and most detailed environmental water monitoring project in scientific history. Three-quarters of a century on, its work continues to breathe hope into the future of Lake Baikal.

Year-round, a team of seven scientists work at ‘Point No.1’. Work starts with collecting samples from the water in summer and from the ice in winter. Conditions vary wildly depending on the season – average temperatures at Lake Baikal range from -21°C in winter to 11°C in summer. These samples are then taken to a laboratory where they are filtered and processed.

The scientists identify zooplankton and phytoplankton, and then record and process the data. From this, they observe patterns that help them monitor the lake’s health. It’s vital work, but the project is routinely threatened with closure due to lack of funds. One of its backers is the Lake Baikal Foundation, Oris’s new partner.

Sales of the Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition will help fund the centre’s work. The watch, a powerful symbol of the independent Swiss watch company’s mission to make a real difference, is limited to 1,999 pieces, marking the year Russia adopted the Baikal Law protecting the lake.

Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date

Swiss watch brand Oris celebrates the uniquely historic role of its signature Big Crown Pointer Date by casing it in solid bronze and using a bespoke finish that makes each bronze dial a one-of-a-kind.

Oris’s Big Crown Pointer Date first entered the Oris collection in 1938, more than eight decades ago. Its creators made a watch for glove-wearing aviators – hence the oversized crown and clear Arabic-numeral dial – but they also made a beautiful object.

The Big Crown Pointer Date’s continued relevance owes much to the original design. But it’s also a reflection of its role in Oris’s revival after the 1970s Quartz Crisis, and in the revival of the Swiss watch industry.

Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date automatic watch

The role of the Big Crown Pointer Date in Oris’s decision in the mid- to late 1980s to rebuild the company with only mechanical watches was critical. It had a story, a purpose and an emotional value that the quartz-powered novelties of the day simply couldn’t compete with. It became an Oris signature and a symbol of the Swiss watch industry’s dramatic revival.

Today, more than 30 years later, Oris is introducing the Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date. The bronze case and dial symbolize Oris’s industrial philosophy and the eternal value of a Swiss Made mechanical watch. The solid bronze dial is chemically treated and coated with a transparent matt lacquer to create a unique finish for every piece.

Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date automatic watch

Oris was founded in 1904, and around 1910 made its first watch for pilots. Louis Blériot had flown across the English Channel in 1908. Shortly after, Oris created a pocket watch with an image of a Blériot plane engraved onto the case. That was followed in 1917 by the company’s first pilot’s wristwatch, a clever piece that could only be adjusted when a button above the crown was activated. Two years ago, Oris created a centenary edition of this landmark watch.

In 1938, Oris produced a watch that would become known as the Big Crown Pointer Date. It had an over-sized crown that could be easily operated by a pilot, even when wearing gloves; large Arabic numerals, so the time could be read quickly; a fluted bezel; and a central hand with a pointer tip that indicated the date. More than 80 years later, the same design principles continue to inform the Big Crown Pointer Date. Over time, it’s been refined with material and mechanical improvements, but its timeless pioneering spirit remains.
