ORIENT WATCHES – Models with Technical Specifications, Price, Brand Details, History, News and Archives

Orient watches are now available in the UK

Orient and Orient Star, the two world-renowned watch brands owned by Japan’s Epson Corporation, are now available in the UK for the very first time.

ORIENT Bambino 38mm

A key highlight from the Orient watch collection is the new Bambino 38mm series from the Classic Collection.
The international best-selling ORIENT Bambino series now includes a long awaited 38mm diameter case perfect for both men and women.

This new Classic and Simple style, fondly known as the ORIENT Bambino by dedicated fans, has been a best-seller over the last decade in over 70 countries around the world. Until now, they featured mostly 40.5mm case diameters; however, these latest models feature a more compact 38mm case. Price: £299.99.

Orient Neo Classic Sports

ORIENT has also released a new Neo Classic Sports model to its Sports Collection. The watches offer a rich retro design, taking inspiration from ORIENT’s designs from the 1960s and 1970s, with additional contemporary high quality performance.

Orient Neo Classic Sports RA-AA0E05B

The Neo Classic Sports models reference this period through their design with a block-patterned scale with think Luminous Light hands, the cushioned case from the World Map model and the rotating inner bezel of the King Diver and World Map models.

Modern additions include the contemporary bronze and black case, an enhanced water-resistance to 20 bar and in-house calibre F6922 automatic movement providing stable accuracy. Price: £445.

Orient Star Contemporary Skeleton

The Japanese watchmaker also launched the new Orient Star Skeleton from the Contemporary Collection. It comes with the hand-wound F8B61 movement with a silicon escape wheel and a 70-hour power reserve. Its modern and stylish design includes sophisticated details, and the hand-wound skeleton movement symbolises the vastness of the universe.

The new Orient Star Contemporary Skeleton is neither too formal nor too casual, with a modern and stylish design that is both refined yet informal. Fine hair line and mirror finishing on high-quality stainless steel give an edgy aesthetic appeal to the case and bracelet, and the dial tinted in grey gives a sophisticated and stylish look.

Orient Star Contemporary Skeleton

The compact and slim case with a diameter of 39 mm and thickness of 10.8 mm, the new metal bracelet with short pitch H-shaped links for comfort on the wrist, the dial with enhanced legibility, and blue hands that add an accent, all create a relaxed feel making it perfect for everyday use.

The hand-wound calibre F8B61 is not only highly precise with accuracy of +15 to -5 seconds a day, but it is also equipped with a silicon escape wheel made with the latest MEMS processing technology, extending the power reserve to 70 hours and significantly enhancing its practicality. Price: £2,759.99.

Orient brand was born in 1950. Its flagship collections are Classic, Contemporary, Revival and Sports. The Orient watch UK price range is £275 to £645.

Orient Star brand was introduced in 1951. It offers three flagship families: Classic, Contemporary and Sports. The Orient Star watch UK price range is £515 to £2760.

Made in Japan, timepieces from both the brands are now available at Orientwatch.co.uk.

Orient Star Avant-garde Skeleton New Models

Japanese watch brand Orient Star expands its Sports Collection by introducing two new Avant-garde Skeleton models. These new watches come with Orient Star’s first automatic movement with a silicon escapement wheel.

Alongside other Skeleton models from the Orient Star Classic and Contemporary collections, the Avant-garde Skeleton from the Sports Collection is known for its dynamic designs and bold openwork. The latest models have evolved to a new level with advanced precision processing technology on the dial and movement.

The new Avant-garde Skeleton spotlights a precision-moulded openwork dial. The complex two-layer dial layout has been skilfully calculated for a seamless look.

The upper plate with indices features a different colour and finish to the lower plate. The well arranged hands stand out from the upper plate, giving a sense of depth and dimension to the distinct skeleton structure. The SAR-coated sapphire crystal glass offers clear view of every facet of the design.

The new Orient Star Avant-garde Skeleton watches house the caliber F8F64 automatic movement with silicon escapement wheel.

This movement boasts Geneva stripes on the surface. It has a partially hollowed-out base plate revealing a blue silicon escapement wheel near the small second of the 6 o’clock position. This was created using a cutting-edge high precision manufacturing technology which has been registered for Japanese and international patents.

The caliber F8F64 has a 60-hour power reserve – a first for Orient Star’s automatic movement. Moreover, it offers high accuracy of +15 seconds to -5 seconds per day.

The high-quality stainless steel case and bezel with hexagonal screws have a delicate brushed finish, while the mirror finish achieved with Sallaz polishing enhances the elegance.

Among the new models, the first one comes with a stainless steel bracelet. The second version combines a black-plated case and dial with a Cordura Ballistic Nylon strap.

Orient Classic and Simple Style Series New Models with Day-Date and 24-hour Indicators

Japanese watch brand Orient has launched four new models to its best-selling Classic and Simple Style series in the Classic Collection. The new models add day-date and 24-hour indicators, as well as new dial colour options, combining classical and casual styles that convey the charm of mechanical watches.

The Classic and Simple Style series is known for its traditional classical face, a domed glass with a retro feel, and delicate case design with slender lugs.

The new models feature an entirely new design adopting the popular Roman numeral indices in six positions. The dial indicates the day at 10 o’clock, a 24-hour indicator at 5 o’clock, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The five hands of the multi-hand display and dual markers on the outer rim of the dial result in a dynamic design adding a new charm to the Classic and Simple Style series.

In addition, four dial colour variations enhance the appeal of these new models. The traditional, classical look of the white and ivory dials, coupled with blue hands, can be paired with any occasion or style.

In contrast are the grey and bordeaux-coloured dials that give a casual impression. The stylish bordeaux dial, coupled with yellow gold-coloured hands and indices, creates an especially eye-catching presence on the wearer’s wrist.

These updated Classic and Simple Style models feature an automatic in-house calibre F6B22 with hand-winding and hacking seconds hand functions. Displaying the time as well as calendar, this 22 jewel movement has a 40-hour power reserve.

Orient Diver Design Chronograph

Japanese watch brand Orient has added three new Diver Design Chronograph models to its Sports Collection. Fusing sporty and casual styles, these first chronographs in the Diver design series house solar-powered movements.

Introduced in 2004, the Diver design series is a best-selling collection of Orient. For the first time, the lineup now includes solar-powered chronograph models alongside the existing mechanical watches.

Orient Diver Design Chronograph RA-TX0201L

The new Diver design chronograph models come with a uni-directional rotating bezel with six grooves common to the series, along with a metal dial with a fine luster finish.

Solar battery charging is achieved through the three subdials; a 24-hour indicator at 3 o’clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock, and a small second subdial at 9 o’clock.

Orient Diver Design Chronograph RA-TX0202B

An Arabic numeral inspired by the first Diver design model adorns the 12 o’clock position, and Luminous Light is used for the numeral, indices and hands, allowing the wearer to read the time even in the dark.

Orient Diver Design Chronograph RA-TX0203S

The dial with metallic texture comes in three colours, blue, black and white. All three colours come with black subdials, and each of the colourways enhances the sporty design that characterises chronograph watches. The glass is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Fitted with the screw down crown and case back, this watch has a water resistance of 20 bar.

Orient Mako New Models (with Arabic numerals)

Japanese watch brand Orient has added four new models to its Diver design series. The new Orient Mako Arabic dial models have been upgraded with sapphire crystal glass and are ideal for sports and outdoor activities or casual wear.

Orient’s Diver design models are an important part of its 70-plus year history, representing everything that it stands for since their launch in the 1960s. This series has a dolphin icon engraved on the case back and is popularly known as Orient Mako since its launch in 2004.

Orient Diver Design aka “Mako” New Models

Water resistance to 20-bar, the Orient Diver design models with sapphire crystal glass originally featured bar or dot indices, but the new models have Arabic numerals at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock. Moreover, the Arabic numerals lend a more casual feel compared to the bar or dot indices reminiscent of traditional, authentic divers’ watches.

Orient Mako RA-AA0818L

The colour of the dial is reminiscent of a beachside view, with the day-date window and Luminous Light hands and indices allow the time to be read even in the dark.

Orient Mako RA-AA0819N

The new line-up includes four models; light blue and ivory evoking beach views during the day, and bordeaux and grey evoking the beach in twilight. The yellow accent on tip of the second hand on the light blue and bordeaux dials, and the orange accent on the hand of the ivory and grey dials, suggest the sun’s rays.

Orient Mako RA-AA0820R

The bezel plate with six grooves, common to all Diver design models, is colour-coordinated to match the dial, and on the aluminium plate of the bezel, two different colours share borders separated at the triangular and 15-minute markers: light blue and blue, light grey and grey, bordeaux and brown and beige and green.

Orient Mako RA-AA0821S

Lastly, these new Orient Mako models are powered by the automatic in-house calibre F6922 (with hand winding) with a 40-hour power reserve.

Orient Star Layered Skeleton New Models RE-AV0B08L and RE-AV0B09N

Orient Star has added two new Layered Skeleton models to its Contemporary Collection. The dial designs are inspired by textile patterns and enhanced by light blue colouring.

Orient Star’s Layered Skeleton watch features an original dial composed of two layers and takes its inspiration from the elegant layering of suit textiles. The upper layer dial representing the outer material of a suit is designed with a herringbone pattern, while the lower layer dial has a paisley pattern with a luster reminiscent of a cupra lining.

The contrasting fabrics provide a unique accent to the overall look of the watch. The large semi-skeleton opening on the dial is paisley shaped, and the open-work design of the power reserve display also reveals the inner workings of the mechanical movement. This sense of depth combined with the textile patterns creates an eye-catching look.

Orient Star Layered Skeleton with Light Blue Dial, Ref. RE-AV0B08L

The latest Orient Star Layered Skeleton models feature a refreshing blue colour on the herringbone-patterned upper layer dial and paisley-patterned lower layer dial. In contrast to the previous white or dark coloured models, the subtly different smoky light blue tones of the new models emphasize each layer and add a colourful accent to the metallic feel of the dial.

Orient Star Layered Skeleton Limited Edition

The limited-edition model of 1,000 pieces worldwide, does not feature the textile pattern on the dial, but the grey upper layer and blue bottom layers create a sophisticated two-toned colour scheme that can be matched to a range of styles from blue to grey. In addition to a metal bracelet, the limited-edition model comes with a grey calf leather strap to change the look of the watch.

Orient Star Layered Skeleton Limited Edition with Silver Grey Dial, Ref. RE-AV0B09N

The textile motif extends to the gentle curves of the case’s lugs that evoke drapes of fabric. Furthermore, the dual-curved sapphire crystal with non-reflective coating for increased legibility also complements the model’s unique design. The metal bracelet with short five-piece links adds an elegant touch as well as comfort for the wearer.

The mechanical automatic in-house calibre F6F44 movement offers a 50-hour power reserve and stable high accuracy.

The highly sophisticated mechanism is visible beneath the Layered Skeleton, complete with Orient Star’s power reserve indicator.

Orient Star Diver 1964 1st Edition with Silver Dial, Reference RE-AU0502S

Japanese watch brand Orient Star has introduced a new Diver 1964 1st Edition model to its Sports Collection. The new limited-edition Orient Star Diver RE-AU0502S watch reflects this proud history, reproducing the original design of the Olympia Calendar Diver model released in 1964, with an upgrade to contemporary scuba divers’ watch specifications of 200-metre water resistance in compliance with the ISO 6425 standard.

This new reference features the same silver dial as the original and combines vintage design with Orient Star’s latest high-performance in-house movement.

The Diver 1964 1st Edition launched in 2021 for Orient Star’s 70th anniversary. It is based on the Olympia Calendar Diver launched after several years of development work that began in the early 1960s.

The new Orient Star Diver RE-AU0502S model reproduces the same features of the original: a rotating bezel made of solid stainless steel, three-dimensionally cut indices, an arrow-shaped hand, and a case shape with sharp lugs.

The Olympia Calendar Diver was available in black or silver dials. The new model is a reproduction of the silver version.

Orient Star Diver 1964 1st Edition with Silver Dial

The case is made of high-quality stainless steel (SUS316L) and features a screw down crown, a screw case-back, and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. It offers significantly improved water resistance to 200 metres for scuba diving, compliant with the ISO 6425 standard for divers’ watches – a significant improvement from the original model’s 40 meters.

The metal bracelet made from the same high-quality stainless steel provides substantial presence and optimum comfort. The trifold clasp comes with push button, security latch and divers’ extension, making the watch practical to use for sports activities and urban lifestyle.

The hand-wound movement of the original 1964 model has been replaced with a contemporary automatic movement, an in-house caliber F6N47 that provides stable high accuracy and a 50-hour power reserve. Another new feature is the power indicator located at 12 o’clock showing the remaining running time.

The Orient Star Diver 1964 1st Edition was launched in 2021 with a black dial, in a limited edition of 500 pieces.

The new Orient Star Diver 1964 1st Edition with silver dial (reference RE-AU0502S) is limited to 900 pieces worldwide.

Orient Star Classic Mechanical Moon Phase Limited Edition, Reference RE-AY0116A

Orient Star has launched a new Moon Phase model from its Classis collection. Popular for its original mechanical watch design and high-performance in-house movement, the Orient Star Classic Mechanical Moon Phase unveils a new simple moon phase design featuring a coloured dial by omitting the openwork.

The much acclaimed Mechanical Moon Phase watch stands out with ingenious design elements such as Orient Star’s iconic power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, semi-skeleton window at 9 o’clock that shows the inner workings of the mechanical movement, and the moon phase mechanism at 6 o’clock with a date hand and date display.

In 2021 celebrating the 70th anniversary, Orient Star released Mechanical Moon Phase featuring an elegant and subdued ivory dial without openwork, while inheriting classical design codes such as the Roman numerals, railway track scale and highly legible leaf-shaped hands. This model made by requests of fans preferring a dial without openwork was available exclusively in Japan for the first time.

The theme of this new model evokes the elegance of time flowing in Japanese nature and features a beautifully coloured dial inspired by the moon reflected on Lake Tazawa in Akita Prefecture. Incorporating white mother-of-pearl and grey gradation, this model is available in a limited edition of 200 pieces.

The dial features a silvery moon in the night sky and a grey date indicator ring, three-dimensional printed Roman numerals, a black ring separating the dial and the transparent OS logo printed on the dial like a watermark.

The dual curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides allows the wearer to view all these details clearly.

The automatic mechanical in-house caliber F7M65 offers a power reserve of 50 hours as well as stable high accuracy of +15 seconds to -5 seconds per day. The beautiful finishing of the 46-F7 series movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal see-through case back.
