Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral Limited Edition

The Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral is a Swiss made diving watch created to support the activities of Coral Guardian association in protecting endangered corals. This timepiece takes inspiration from the Milus diving watches produced in the 60s and 70s.

Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral Limited Edition

Only 50 numbered units of this Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral are available. For each watch, the brand donates an amount to save a coral which is adopted and named after the customer. Each wearer of the Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral watch receives a personal certificate, issued by the Coral Guardian association.

This non-profit organization, which brings together scientists and defenders of marine organisms, has developed a coral re-transplantation program. In order to fight against their extinction, it gradually reconstitutes, internationally and with the involvement of local communities, coral ecosystems in less threatened areas.

The Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral watch is powered by the ETA 2892-A2 self-winding movement.

Its indexes, which are in Arabic numerals at the cardinal points except for the “3” which has been turned into a date window, and its “broad arrow” hour hand, are all covered with Super-LumiNova for hyper legibility.

They add to the vintage look that is underlined by the reassuring curved glass. As for its bidirectional inner rotating bezel, it slides along its 60-minute diving scale, guaranteeing under all circumstances optimal safety and precision in timing.

Embodying the historic model born in 1960 and revisited in 1970, Archimèdes by Milus Orange Coral is a reliable automatic diver’s watch.

It is equipped with a discreet helium valve located at 9 o’clock. It offers water-resistance up to 300 meters below sea level. Its second crown, located at 2:30 am, activates the rotating inner bezel.

It was in the 1950s, when the Swiss watch case manufacturer Ervin Piquerez (EPSA) patented a case with an innovative system: to become more and more waterproof as the watch goes deeper and deeper and as the atmospheric pressure increases (progressive compression of the gasket until it becomes completely sealed). From this historic case, which still inspires the passion of collectors around the world, the Milus brand created in 1960 the model Archimèdes 666, then, ten years later, the Super Compressor.

MILUS

Milus is a Swiss watch brand based in Biel/Bienne. It was founded by Paul William Junod in 1919.

History of Milus watch brand

The history of Milus watch brand begins with the ideal of its pioneering founder, Paul William Junod (1896-1951), to create a robust yet elegant watch – a precious accessory, which everyone would wish to own. With this goal, in 1919 he set up the watchmaking business at Route de Reuchenette 21 in Bienne. The company remained in the ownership of the Junod family until 2002.

Paul William Junod held fast to this ideal, put it into practice, never deviating from his way of achieving it. Trained and experienced in the art and tradition of the watchmaker’s craft, he wanted to work with this potential, to develop it further, in order to make his dream come true.

After the death of the founder Paul William Junod in 1951, his son Paul Herbert took over management of the family business. In 1961 a new company headquarters was built at Route de Reuchenette 19 in Bienne.

In 1982 Paul Herbert Junod handed over the company to his two sons Paul and Pierre Junod, who complemented each other perfectly in the management and further development of the company. While Pierre devoted himself to the financial affairs of the business, Paul, the “technician” and extremely talented engineer and graduate of the celebrated Biel “School of Watchmaking”, continually developed innovative shapes as well as a new design concept for the Milus brand.

In 2003 Milus was acquired by Peace Mark Group, a Hong Kong based company specialized in the manufacturing and retailing of timepieces. With the formation of the new company “Milus International SA”, the brand made a successful re-launch at Basel-world 2004.

In 2008 the brand was taken over by Chow Tai Fook, the Hong Kong retail jewelry group. In 2016, Luc Tissot brought the Milus brand from its Chinese investors. Luc belongs to the celebrated Swiss watch-making family Tissot. Former chairman of Tissot Watch Company, Luc Tissot is the founder and chief executive of Tissot Medical Research SA.

From 2003 to 2015, Milus had been positioned in the luxury price segment (above CHF 5,000), with premium watch collections like Apiana, Agenios, Cirina, Eridana, Herios, Merea, Monocera, Tarasea, Tirion and Zetios. Since 2016, the brand has been offering timepieces in an affordable price range of CHF 1,000 to CHF 2,000.

Presently, the brand’s flagship collections are Snow Star, Archimèdes by Milus and LAB 01.

Milus LAB 01

The LAB Collection is inspired by the Milus codes of the 90’s and reflects the elegance of an active urban lifestyle.

With its sleek and ultra-contemporary design, mimicking urban lines, this collection finds its public among lovers of minimalist graphic design and fine watchmaking. Milus has equipped the LAB Collection with an automatic Swiss made movement, an exclusive dial, sapphire crystals and elaborate steel work. The company delivers timepieces with bold aesthetics, meticulous finishes and proven solidity.

LAB 01 is a nod to the famous designers Charles & Ray Eames, and fosters a spirit of independence and uniqueness. The timepiece is embellished with a fiber glass dial exclusively developed for Milus, and graced with purity in form and function.

The dial made of exposed fiber glass provides a unique texture to every piece. A seemingly simple and refined casing elegantly reveals its polished and brushed finishes, playing with light to reveal its beauty. The hands of LAB 01 are treated with Superluminova, enhancing contrast and improving legibility. The watch is set with a natural cotton strap. The sapphire opening at the bottom of the casing reveals the sun brushed rotor and housing rings.

Available in dark grey, light grey and blue, the LAB 01 Collection features an automatic Sellita calibre with 38 hours of power reserve and is enclosed in a waterproof case with a resistance of up to 5 ATM. The models are also fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire glass.

ARCHIMÈDES by Milus

Milus inventively revisits its iconic diving watch, reverting to traditional robust hands, a rotating bezel and screw-down crowns, to unveil an ultra-contemporary and technically innovative rework of the original Archimèdes.

Archimedès by Milus is the modern successor to the Super Compressor of the seventies with its dramatic proportions, as well as the 666, the original model created a decade earlier. Adventuresome and audacious yet elegant, they both feature renowned Ervin Picquerez waterproof casings, which speak for themselves.

Milus Snow Star 2019

Celebrating its 100th anniversary, Swiss watch brand Milus pays tribute to the legendary Snow Star watch by launching the new automatic models.

The Milus Snow Star belongs to the world of tool and military watches so popular with watch enthusiasts. When it was created in the 1940s, Milus’ Snow Star offered a dimension of exchange value, in addition to its vocation for precision and resistance in extreme environments.

Milus Snow Star Historical Model

Housed in the heart of a pocket box that looked like a survival kit, this watch was a mandatory element in the equipment of US Navy soldiers. It offered them an additional chance to survive in the event of capture: if caught or lost in enemy territory, the soldier could trade it for information, temporary shelter, an escape route and sometimes even life. The pouch also contained other valuables, some of which were in gold with inscriptions in the local language.

The Snow Star 2019 is available in two versions. Irradiating its former values, the Snow Star uses one of the most resistant steels, 904L, to assert its strength. Then, thanks to the mastery of mirror polishing, it uses thousand glints to remind us of the preciousness of its Swiss origins.

Almost confederal and resolutely sporty, the red of its date placed at 3:00 in its window, like the red of its inscription “AUTOMATIC”, claims the power of new blood without betraying its original hues. Its leather lined textile strap is secured by a pin buckle clasp. It is attached to raised horns that stand out from the reassuring comfort of the case.

The desirable oblong shape of its stature case shows flexibility in the face of the obvious lines of its silhouette and the curved sapphire crystal. While two rhodium-plated and diamond-shaped Dauphine hands linger on the applied hour and minute hour-markers, a slim-line second hand sweeps the depths of the black and the sun-brushed silver highlights of its dial.

Two versions inhabited by a 4 Hz calibre known for its robustness and flawless quality, the ETA legendary 2892 in its most advanced version today.

MILUS Tirion Triretrograde TIRI200

A carbon dial arranged on two levels, with reflections that make the blackened surface seem to shimmer. The open-worked part reveals a bit of the movement, some rubies, the blackened bridges holding the watch’s famous seconds complication, which is held in place by blued screws, the harbingers of mechanical watchmaking performed according to the strictest rules of the art.

This latest incarnation of the TirionTriRetrograde is an ode to contrasts made to draw the eye. The fine bezel and generously dimensioned sapphire crystal show off a complex dial. The hands are edged in red with a crest of luminescent mass. Everything is designed for perfect legibility of time even in the dusk, and, naturally, to show the light hearted dance of the seconds hands. Indeed, while the minutes and hours tick away at a regular rhythm, the three hands in the center share a minute-long trip over three 20-second retrograde segments.

Encircling this dynamic complication, the even hours appear in Arab numerals with bar indices for the odd hours. At 4.30, an aperture discreetly provides the date. The steel case is coated with polished DLC, giving it a ceramic-like look. It fits snuggly onto the wrist, belying its 45-millimeter diameter. The crown integrates easily into these elegant lines. Inside the case is a robust automatic Swiss ETA 2892 caliber that promises a power reserve of at least 40 hours. This TirionTriRetrograde comes on an alligator bracelet that harmonizes well with the exceptional timepiece: it is in sleek black with red stitching.

Milus Zetios Automatic (Reference: ZET200)

The latest Zetios Automatic model of Milus displays time day and night by way of a frankly seductive interaction between haute horlogerie and haute joaillerie.

The silvery hands of the hours and minutes, which are covered in a luminescent mass for good legibility in the dark, seem to float over a dial of shimmering mother-of-pearl.  The hours, in distinguished Roman numerals, appear on a second ring of darker mother-of-pearl.  A large date appears at 12 o’clock in the traditional Milus double aperture. And to ensure that the indication of time is nice and airy, the seconds have been placed in a subdial at 6 o’clock, to be read from a hand that replicates in small the hour and minute hands.

The most striking aspect of the new Zetios Automatic, however, is undoubtedly the narrow bezel, which leaves so much space for the dial: it is set with diamonds, which pour like a cascade over the lugs and attachments, 300 in all for a weight of 1.29 carats. Inside the 42-millimeter case of steel with polished DLC beats a robust Dubois Dépraz DD14000 automatic caliber. The movement is visible through the watch’s sapphire case back. This all comes with a bracelet of homogeneous, black satin.

Milus Zetios Chronograph Edition M2

The Zetios Chronograph line from Milus welcomes two new product references, ZETC100 & ZETC101. These new versions boast all the famous and fundamental elements that make the Zetios Chronographs immediately identifiable are in place: the classic equilibrium of the tricompax counters, with their large edges recalling dashboard instruments, or the double date aperture at 12 o’clock. The hour and minute hands, slightly curved and tipped with a luminescent mass, harmonize perfectly with the eleven tapered hour indices. And last but not least, there is the checkered carbon fiber dial reminiscent of exciting car races.

This new Zetios celebrates the Milus sponsorship of the M2 Speed Tour regattas. So the logo of the event now appears boldly on the small hour totalizer at 6 o’clock, with its hand serving as the mast of this stylize sail.

The free use of colours on the somewhat severe backdrop of the dial suggests the flowing interplay of the wind and waves. The edges of the seconds and minute counters are blue, as are the minute markers at the edge of the dial and the pusher to start the chronograph. And while the long, thin chrono hand measures out the time, your eye never loses track of the red hand of the small seconds ticking away at 3 o’clock.

Typical Zetios, as well, is the narrow bezel and the straight attachments that ensure the case’s elegant and discreet look. The crown, with its lateral reinforcements, is large and easy to access. Inside the case beats a dependable Swiss automatic caliber with a frequency of 28,800 vph. The watch boasts 40-hour power reserve.

The Zetios Chronograph Edition M2 comes as the ZETC100 on a blue alligator bracelet with cream-colored stitching and the ZETC101 – white was chosen as the leading color for the minute markers, the edge of the minute counter and small seconds, and for the alligator bracelet, whose stitching is a flowing blue.

MILUS – Tirion Triretrograde (Stainless Steel Black DLC Case, Reference number: TIRI022)

MILUS TIRION TriRetrograde watch is now available in a sporting version featuring a DLC-treated case, carbon-fibre dial & bezel and an orange alligator strap with black stitching.

Open, multiply-layer dial, three retrograde seconds hands, visible bridges; Milus has succeeded in using these elements to create a signature that is unique, instantly recognisable and capable of being divided into multiple registers. After classical skeleton and more “casual” in titanium versions, Milus TIRION TriRetrograde is now available in a considerably more sporting version.

On the movement side, the TIRION TriRetrograde Seconds DLC is equipped with a mechanical, automatic-winding, Swiss-made calibre visible via the transparent base of its case. Its sophistication can be seen from the oscillating weight, cut away in the shape of the Milus logo, as well as from the exclusive Milus 3838 mechanism which enables the display of the triple retrograde seconds.

MILUS TirionTriRetrograde 42 mm – New Models (TIRS010 & TIRS016)

Swiss luxury watch brand MILUS welcomes two new models in its TirionTriRetrograde 42. The new versions will feature a modern and sophisticated white-grey-blue concept, and an ultra-sportive look emphasised by a layer of carbon fibre.

It plays with time through its exclusive TriRetrograde mechanism that displays the seconds on three arcs measuring twenty seconds each. And it makes light of time thanks to its original and timeless design that is able to put on a thousand faces and adapt to all tastes. Within a span of five years, the Milus TirionTriRetrograde has made its mark as a classic of watchmaking, combining elegant looks with an exceptional mechanism.  It comes in many versions, in various metals, colours and finishes, and in three sizes, for every wrist: 47, 45 and 42 millimetres. Milus has now added a new page to the legend by offering the TirionTriRetrograde 42 in two new variations, each with a clearly fashioned personality.

The TIRS010 revisits classicism with a beautiful symphony of colours enhanced by a three-dimensional architecture. The off-white flange contrasts exquisitely with the centre of the dial, which is grey. The Arabic numerals are crisp and dynamic, their blue colour harmonises with the hue of the hands. The triretrograde seconds are displayed on three arcs in a shade of white. Blued screws hold the components onto the skeletonised mechanism and suggest the exclusive decoration of the finest haut-de-gamme movements. The luminescent white coating ensures that time can be optimally read even in darkness. This is a daring and elegant timepiece made for those who appreciate highly personal objects.

The backdrop changes for the TIRS016. With its stainless steel case coated in black DLC and its dial ringed in genuine carbon fibre, this timepiece, with a very original look, evokes the atmosphere of the racetrack and the most beautiful race cars. The centre of the watch is contrasting anthracite grey, as are the partially skeletonised hands for the hours and minutes, which are coated in a white, luminescent mass. The reference to a sports car’s dashboard is further underlined by the white Arabic numerals and the three red second hands. The black calf-leather bracelet was given a carbon-like texture, prolonging the look of the dial. This watch has a strong character, for winners and those who love challenging exploits.

As with the entire TirionTriRetrograde collection, these two new models are driven by mechanical movements with automatic winding and manufactured with all the benefits of Swiss know-how – and visible through the transparent case back.

The TriRetrograde mechanism
A Milus exclusive, the 3838 TriRetrograde mechanism displays the seconds on three separate arcs at 6, 9 and 3 o’clock. The three hands travel twenty seconds successively, each “passing the torch” to the next one and returning at lightning speed to its point of departure. This great animated ballet, which keeps repeating itself tirelessly, makes the passage of time a playful and fascinating spectacle.

MILUS Zetios Chronograph – New Dial Versions

The elegant and high performance Zetios Chronograph line now offers four new dial versions that highlight the watch’s exclusive design and enhance its sportive character.  The “sporty chic” style demands that opposites marry, and the Zetios Chronograph has made its mark as a great success in this domain. By re-inventing classicism, Milus has endowed it with a genuinely extraordinary design. The straight lugs form a beautiful counterpoint to the rounded edges of the case, the pushers and the double aperture of the large date. The generous crown, easy to handle, is protected from impacts by delicately cambered lateral reinforcements.

Milus offers the Zetios Chronograph with four new dials that once again assert the subtle equilibrium between sophistication and functionality. The outcome is four new expressions of sporty chic exuding the quintessence of creative and contemporary design.

The ZETC025 in stainless steel mingles harmony and sobriety with a white dial and silvery appliques. The indexes in place of the numbers feature the same pointed cut as the hands. The framed counters recall the dials on the dashboard of the most beautiful cars. The overall feeling is one of technical prowess and refinement, rounded off by a black alligator bracelet with an ardillon buckle or a folding clasp.ZETC026features stronger contrasts. A dark grey dial underlies silver indexes, numerals, hands and totaliser frames. It is remarkable for its excellent readability and frankly masculine character enhanced by a black alligator strap. The ZETC027 gets into the fast lane of automotive sports: the dial is in genuine carbon fibre, the calf-leather strap bears the same checkered motif as the dial, and red hands evoke racecar meters.

Milus TririonTriRetrograde Seconds Collection – New Models

Milus extends its TririonTriRetrograde Seconds collection with five new models. Four of them comes with new color variations namely Red, blue, brown & silver. Fifth model combines black steel and red gold. Launched in 2008, the TririonTriRetrograde embodies perfectly the “Playful Spirit of Time.”

With its distinctive seconds running their course on three arcs and its openworked dial revealing the exclusive Milus 3838 TriRetrograde mechanism; it has made its mark as a rare and elegant creation. In 2012, Milus is offering this flagship model in five new versions, each infused with a modern and dynamic personality. Four color variations, each with a well-defined character is playing on dazzling hues.

TIRI019 ( Red): The lively touch on the dial with its “carbon fibre” decor recalling car racing contrasts sharply with the case in black DLC and the bezel of satin-brushed steel. This very modern duo of colours is echoed in the black alligator bracelet with red topstitching.

TIRI021 ( Brown): The brown dial rhythmically patterned with a “carbon” motif, integrates beautifully with the warm nuance of the bezel plated with satin-brushed red gold, as well as with the quintessential watchmaker’s touch, the screws of blued steel.

TIRI020 (Blue): The dial with its “carbon” look accentuates the large white Arab numerals and the hands lined with luminescent coating. The case is in steel, the bezel and crown are in black DLC-coated steel and the black alligator bracelet is ornamented with blue topstitching.

TIRI018 ( Silver): A mantle of light for the with its dial featuring a delicate hint of silver framing the guilloché decorated movement – the whole picture enhanced by a bezel of black DLC-coated steel.

TIRI741(BiColour): The first TririonTriRetrograde Seconds in a bicolour steel version. It is an elegant and bold timepiece featuring a case with black DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, which is both refined and ultra resistant. It forms a powerful and original combination with the 18-carat satin-brushed red-gold bezel and crown.

The same alliance between black and gold continues on the openworked dial – with screws of blued steel. The black alligator bracelet is held by incurved lugs that elegantly hug the wrist.

The TriRetrograde mechanism
A Milus exclusive, the 3838 TriRetrograde mechanism displays the seconds on three separate arcs at 6, 9 and 3 o’clock. The three hands travel twenty seconds successively, each “passing the torch” to the next one and returning with lightening speed to its point of departure. This great animated ballet, which keeps repeating itself tirelessly, makes the passage of time a playful and fascinating spectacle.

Milus Merea TriRetrograde Steel – New Versions

Swiss luxury watch brand Milus has endowed its steel Merea TriRetrograde model with new dials that combine sober design with subtle guilloché decoration. In naming the watch Merea, the Milus designers took their inspiration from Mira, a star in the constellation of Cetus the Whale. As with its celestial counterpart, the Merea model by Milus has established itself as an outstanding creation.

The model features an oval case with a sensual shape featuring a large crown with a fluted relief. The model has a very original system to attach the bracelet. Its playful seconds display on three arcs of 20 seconds each is driven by the exclusive Milus 3838 TriRetrograde mechanism.

Today, the Merea TriRetrograde steel collection features entirely redesigned dials that complement the open-worked versions and thereby fulfill the quest for elegance. Gracing models of great refinement, these dials are distinguished by the marriage of several guilloché decorations that engage light in subtle play: “beehive” guilloché in the central area, circular guilloché for the periphery, and a wave pattern for the three little segments of the retrograde seconds.

The large Arab numerals enhance these watches’ sophistication and dynamism. These dials come in three versions of contrasting character: silvery opaline with blue numerals, silvery opaline with red gold numerals, and black with silver numerals. These dials come on steel versions either plain or set with stones, and with alligator or steel bracelets.

Milus Herios TriRetrograde Classic

Swiss watch brand Milus presents a new and resolutely classical version of the Herios TriRetrograde, one of their most accomplished timepieces. The Herios TriRetrograde watch is the only square model in the Milus collection. This shaped piece, thus far produced in versions that are feminine, sporting or even featuring dials artistically decorated in cloisonné enamel, is presented in a classic and entirely reworked version.

The original square form has been reworked to give it a gentleness that is reflected in its many curves, both on the flanks as well as in its profile. To accomplish this work, the designer has gone back to the aesthetics of the 17th century arabesque style from which he has re-transcribed the fineness and lightness, above all on the level of the added horns, very much a watchmaker’s detail. These horns thus appear to integrate into the case only to come out again, like an extension, on the level of the crown protection, giving the overall item a harmonious and delicate cohesion. The glass with double radius of curvature, assembled at the same level as the bezel, gives the whole item the roundness of a runner long polished by the sea, a roundness that is also found on the back cover of the case for improved comfort in contact with the wrist.

Milus Herios TriRetrograde Classic model is available in two dial variations. The first has a galvanic black decor stamped with a sun motif centred on the little seconds hand situated at 6 o’clock. Adorned with an hour circle made of silver plated indexes in appliques, it creates an impression of discrete classicism and elegance.

The second appears less formal with its more vintage accents thanks to a white lacquered decor adorned with blue Arabic numerals, its peripheral area is stamped with pulsating motifs. Both are animated with three retrograde seconds hands, now symbolic of the Milus brand and its very playful way of measuring time.

These hands are controlled by the exclusive Milus 3838 mechanism and by a special-execution, Swiss-made movement. Visible through the transparent back cover of the case, this mechanical calibre with automatic winding features an oscillating skeleton weight in the form of the Milus logo with the symbol of the brand engraved in its centre. Water-resistant to 3 atm, the Herios TriRetrograde Classic watch is available in steel with a black or brown alligator strap.

Milus Heritage Snow Star

The tradition-rich Swiss brand Milus takes up one of the most illustrious pages in its history and repeats in two limited editions, one in 18 carat red gold, the other in steel, the watch that it supplied to the US Navy throughout the World War II for inclusion in the “Life Barter Kit” issued to the navy pilots. A kit made up of numerous precious objects and which, in these troubled times, no doubt saved numerous lives. Each item is presented in a box where it is accompanied by a pair of cufflinks.

Before the invention of radar, automatic piloting systems and satellite location, pilots had to make use of a network of terrestrial beacons, various instruments such as an artificial horizon, an altimeter or a compass as well as expert calculations. The absence of such beacons, a defective instrument or a comma in the wrong place and the pilot ran the risk of getting lost, something which could have dramatic consequences. This was particularly so for navy pilots who, if they lost track of their base aircraft carrier, could crash-land in the ocean or be forced to land in unknown or enemy territory.

During the World War II, the American navy operating in the Pacific therefore decided to provide its pilots with a kit made up of various precious items. In the event of a forced landing or ejection by parachute in an unknown or hostile area, this enabled them to negotiate information, their release or even their life with the local population. Hence the name “Life Barter Kit.” These objects included two rings, a chain and a gold pendant as well as a Snow Star watch signed Milus.

Now, Milus has decided to again take up this page, regarded as one of the most illustrious in its history, with an identical model to the Snow Star in two limited editions: one in steel and the other in 18 carat red gold.

The watch in 18 carat red gold has been produced in 99 numbered copies. Its polished case, with a diameter of 40 mm, is water-resistant to 3 atm and houses a contemporary movement, a mechanical ETA 2408 with hand winding. Finding 99 copies in working condition kept the Milus technical team occupied for several months. Each of these copies was then subjected to a complete overhaul and reconditioning. This movement has hour, minute, large second functions in the centre and a calendar.

On the assembly side, the screwed-on back cover is an identical reflection of the aesthetics of the original watch: sanded and polished finish, engraving of the name of the model “Milus Snow Star” and of the historical Milus logo, a Roman wearing a crown, brandishing his sword and with his right hand raised. The dial, identical to that of the version in the “Life Barter Kit,” is a refinement of details. Its back cover is brushed, sunned and silver-plated.

Particularly legible, it is decorated with two types of index gilded in red gold: those at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock combine a central lined part which underlines a cruciform, bevelled and mirror-polished turn. The eight others, trapezoid in shape, have a flat and polished upper surface which is brought out by the play on light created by a central V-shaped groove. The watch features a black alligator bracelet with a buckle in 18 carat red gold and an interchange system that avoids the need for tools. It also includes a second NATO strap with vintage accents in black nylon.

In order to recall the original “Life Barter Kit,” Milus wanted to equip the Snow Star watch in red gold with a valuable jewel which is masculine and directly associated with the world of aviation. The choice thus fell on a pair of cufflinks likewise in red gold. These two jewels, elegant and refined, have been given a particularly clever construction. In effect they have been designed in the form of two miniscule boxes, one containing a compass, an indispensable instrument for piloting aircraft, the other housing which can be used as a secret box.

The cover of these boxes features external decor representing an aeroplane seen from the front, an aircraft equipped with a genuine propeller in massive gold. When this mobile propeller starts to turn, thanks to movements of the wrist, the effect is striking. The whole thing is protected by a sapphire glass. The Snow Star watch in 18 carat red gold and its cufflinks are presented in an elegant box covered in leather.

The steel version has been produced in 1940 numbered copies. Even if most of its characteristics are identical to those of the model in 18 carat red gold, it nevertheless differs in terms of its movement, a Swiss mechanical calibre with hand winding.

This steel version offers hour, minute and second functions in the centre and a calendar. The model also has a specific dial with rhodium-plated index. Finally, it features a black calfskin bracelet and is also accompanied by a NATO strap.

Like the model in red gold, the steel version is supplied with a pair of cufflinks – also in steel. Each of them displays a genuine compass on its upper face. The complete product is presented in a case of vintage inspiration.

Milus CIRINA

The ladies’ tonneau range from the traditional Swiss watchmaker Milus combines curved outlines, soft colours and delicate ornamentation to create a bewitching work of art. CIRINA, the name of this enchanting ladies’ collection, derives from the constellation Circinus, the Latin name for the compasses. The aesthetic balance of this expressive ladies watch arises from the sophisticated interplay between the curves of the tonneau and the arches of the case shape. At the same time, a special three-dimensional design makes possible the outstanding composition of volumes, dynamic lines and rounded shapes.

The case of the Milus Cirina is presented elegantly in precious 18-carat pink or white gold or in stainless steel, as desired. All versions are polished and brushed, and because of their gentle curvature ensure perfect comfort in wear. Different face colours in pastel shades, white and black, and colour-matched straps in alligator leather, in material with satin-optic or in stainless steel as well round off the perfect appearance of this remarkable ladies’ collection.

Each CIRINA variation is both elegant and romantic: entirely decorated with fine floral ornamentation, its dial is reminiscent of the awakening of Nature in Spring with its soft colours, sensuous fragrances and mild temperatures. Wonderfully drawn Arabic numbers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock reinforce the playful lightness and romantic radiance which shine forth from this watch. A domed sapphire glass protects the dial stylishly. The strap is a matching continuation of the dial and moulds itself softly to its wearer’s wrist.

Milus TIRION TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton, New Model – TIRI014

Launched by Milus in 2008, the TIRION TriRetrograde watch has established itself as one of the company’s emblematic items. Milus has made its trademark by characterising the seconds display by means of three retrograde hands now presented in a new version whose dial elements are the result of superb decorative work carried out as much with an eye on quality as on legibility.

Taking the opposite approach of the preceding versions for which the watchword had been transparency and visibility of the components, this model features assembly work which concentrates on the dial. Accordingly, the dial is made up of two distinctive parts: the first part, bearing the hour circle and the motion work, has been the subject of stamped decoration in the form of centric waves of extreme finesse.

The second part, situated in the centre, also features stamped decoration but in “soleil” form and with more pronounced lines. Their cream colour brings out the Arabic numerals and the index particularly well with their anthracite colour, both of which, with the hands and the calendar disc covered in luminescent material, contribute to the perfect legibility of the ensemble. The centre of the dial still has the three bridges on which as many second hands punctuate the passing time in a perfectly controlled ballet. All are fixed by means of blued screws, a code of beautiful watchmaking that will be appreciated by connoisseurs.

The case side has mounted strip attachments, also a sign of genuine watchmaking sophistication, as well as a transparent back cover which makes it possible to admire the mechanical movement with automatic winding whose oscillating weight has been cut away to give it the shape of the Milus logo. This same movement features the exclusive Milus 3838 module whose ingenious mechanism runs the tri-retrograde seconds display.

Milus ZETIOS Regulator

At Baselworld 2010, Milus will be expanding its successful ZETIOS line with a very special model – a regulator. The characteristic timepiece with separate display for hours, minutes and seconds, embodies venerable tradition and impresses with its attractive elegance.

For more than ninety years, Milus has stood for a combination of the highest Swiss watchmaking art and the most precious materials in a timeliness design language. The new ZETIOS Regulator embodies these characteristic at its best and attests through harmony of form and material. The regulator indication is elegantly housed by the eye-catching impressive 42-mm diameter case. It is available in 18K red or in stainless steel. The flattened outer bezel is superbly complemented by subtly rounded details. Particularly distinctive is the crown – integrated into a finely curved protective housing.

A curved sapphire glass protects the dial with “Grain de Riz” décor in the centre and a glossed outer area with blue minute numbers. The large date, positioned at 3 o’clock, stands out in optimum manner. With a regulator, whose design is based on the desire for precise readability, hour, minute and seconds hands are arranged on differing axes of the dial. On the ZETIOS Regulator, exclusively the minute hand is positioned centrally.

The hour display is at 12 o’clock, the seconds display at 6 o’clock. The simple beauty of the attractive dial is underlined by the “sunray” decor of the snailed hour, minute and seconds counters. The protected crown at 3 o’clock is decorated with a relief in the shape of the Milus symbol. Special connecting elements join the case to a strap of finest alligator leather and ensure pleasant wearing comfort.

Milus Joaillerie Cufflinks
Milus Joaillerie Cufflinks

Milus uses casting – probably the oldest of shaping processes – to give this accessory a form based on that of a watch movement. The stainless steel and brass rhodium-plated, plated 3N or plated black gold cufflinks in the form of a real mechanical watch movement complete the collection in 18K pink and 18K white gold.

Milus purposefully created an exceptional form of cufflinks with charismatic style that goes far beyond mere functionality. An accessory to be passionate about – and commitment to a theme: the Milus timepiece. The watch collector can now amusingly wear the heart of his watch – the movement – on his sleeves, giving this pulse beat a new setting.

Milus Kamasutra Butterfly Cufflinks

Once more, the idea of movement and the element of playfulness – both so important to Milus – have been realised: the liveliness of a mechanical watch movement with a 360° rotatable oscillating weight ensures the singularity of Milus cufflinks as an attractive eye-catcher. Milus purposefully created an exceptional form of cufflinks, an accessory to be passionate about – and commitment to a theme:the Milus timepiece.

This cufflinks edition is made of 18K pink gold. Milus uses casting – probably the oldest of shaping processes – to give it the form of a mechanical watch movement.

Milus Kamasutra Butterfly Cufflinks
Milus Kamasutra Butterfly Cufflinks

The cufflinks are visibly full of loving attention to detail: the moving rotor is artistically decorated by hand with what is known as the most sophisticated and ingenious technique of the art of enamelling – the Cloisonné.

It shows two persons in the Kama Sutra-Butterfly position on a blue night background. Overlapping the edge of the cufflinks, a marvellous butterfly has been applied by hand using another skilful technique of enamelling: the Champlevé.

Connoisseurs of handcrafted perfection and supreme artistic achievement will be fascinated by this eye-catching design and outstanding artistic craftsmanship.

Milus TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde Limited Edition

Ever since 1919, Milus has stood for outstanding Swiss watchmaking art combined with mechanical finesse, exclusivity and a brilliant interaction of unique language of form and the most precious materials. Milus’ philosophy is based on combining movement and changeability in its outstanding timepieces and jewellery items.

True to this principle, at this year’s Baselworld, Milus will be presenting the exquisite novelty TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde for the first time to the public. Through the combination of minute repetition and tri-retrograde function, Milus underlines, on the one hand, its watchmaking expertise and, on the other hand, the high art of developing a watch with an aesthetic and lasting language of form within its own company. After two years of intensive development, the traditional Biel company is launching this prestige watch as a limited edition of 50 pieces with own calibre. An extraordinary milestone in the corporate history of the Swiss watch brand.

Even today, manufacturing a minute repetition remains one of the major technical challenges in the art of watchmaking. Whilst this fine-sounding complication provided a useful function prior to the introduction of the electric light, today it enthuses experts and watch lovers through its unique complexity. Designed to indicate the time during the dark night-time hours, the minute repetition can, on demand, announce the hours, quarter-hours and minutes with a harmonious sound within the tiny dimensions of a wristwatch.

Pureness of tone and fullness of sound are the challenges faced by the experts. Every minute repetition manufactured is therefore presented as a masterpiece that is held in high esteem by watch connoisseurs thanks to the craftsman’s skills and precise attention to detail during manufacture. Long years of experience in the watchmaking art of minute repetition and a trained ear are indispensable for the production of this artefact.

For Milus, the launch of the TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde represents a significant step. With the complication minute repetition, combined with the fascinating play of the tri-retrograde seconds display that is characteristic of Milus, the company has achieved a high-precision and very ambitious timepiece in line with its philosophy and with an especially “highly personal” mark.

Over 400 individual parts of the clockwork movement are put together in excess of more than 140 hours of meticulous work by watchmakers of the highest reputation. Each component is decorated by hand and is tested repeatedly beforehand in terms of form and composition in order to optimise the sound quality and the functional precision of the watch. It is important to find the right balance between the lowest possible volume of the ticking minutes and as recognisable a sound as possible of the minute repetition. The aim is to create an unforgettable sound, a highly personal acoustic signature which reflects the extraordinary language of form of the watches from this traditional company.

The two steel hammers of the striking mechanism positioned on stainless steel bearings create a deep tone for the hours when triggering the minute repetition, a high and deep double strike for the quarter-hours and a high tone for the minutes. This is achieved by the hammers creating vibrations of the two gongs wound around the movement. To ensure a pure sound, the gongs must not touch one another. They are produced from a special steel alloy and connected to the same base. The major challenge for the experienced experts is the adjustment. The length of the gongs as well as the securing of the base to the bottom plate must be adjusted to the desired “a” and “c sharp” notes in several steps.

The uniquely curved minute-rack of the calibre has also been turned around and enlarged to achieve greater precision and pureness of tone. This gives the harmonious major-third unspoilt sound perfection. As every Milus TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde is manufactured by hand, minimum tone variations can occur here, thus giving each watch a very individual sound. Instead of the classic slide to activate the fascinating mechanism of the minute repetition, the Milus TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde is equipped with a push-piece at 9 o’clock with engraved clef. The flywheel, which regulates the striking rhythm and guarantees perfect time, can be observed through the sapphire viewing glass on the back of the watch.

Through the M08-35RM calibre certified by COSC and produced exclusively for the Milus TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde, Milus underlines its claim to watch models in an exceptionally high quality of craftsmanship. The latest micro-technical technologies and innovative materials guarantee optimum and low-friction functioning of the exceptional watch.

The use of silicon for pallet and pallet wheel contributes to higher precision and longevity of the minute repetition. With its double complication and a power reserve of 90 hours, the Milus TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde undoubtedly represents a technical milestone for the company. Building on from its decades of success, Milus thus again demonstrates its expertise in the high art of watchmaking.

The movement base of the Milus TIRION Répétition Minutes TriRetrograde is circular-grained, the bridges are finished with a sunray pattern and the steel parts are high-gloss polished with zinc in the old tradition way. A round, nine-part impressive case in 18K red gold 6N – the noble gold tone used at the beginning of the last century – with a diameter of 46 millimetres encloses the precious movement with its two barrels.

In the centre, the dial permits a clear view of the exclusive calibre and underlines the fascinating play of the three hands which spring back at 20-second intervals. Positioned at 6, 10 and 2 o’clock, the flying dance of the blued hands is completed with virtuoso ease. Once one of the hands has passed through its 20-second path, it jumps back to its original position whilst the next hand starts its journey. The date is indicated by a blued hand whose counterweight is designed in the form of the Milus sign. The hand-sewn strap in finest alligator leather rounds off the harmonious appearance of this prestigious watch.

Milus XEPHIOS Watch Collection

The classic XEPHIOS line was inspired by the Cepheus constellation – itself named after a mighty king, the father of Andromeda. Cepheus is special in that it can be observed all year round, shedding a soft but continuous light upon us. XEPHIOS timepieces are a tribute to the Milus design tradition, which goes back all the way to 1919.

The XEPHIOS models are distinguished by their sober, masculine elegance and a retro look linking in harmoniously with today’s taste in luxury. The perfectly rounded housing with the outer ring, which is flattened on both sides, provides a stylish contrast to the straight line of the wristlet horns and the curve of the sapphire crystal. The love of detail may also be seen in the carefully recessed screws in the case back. The classic design is complemented by a top-quality mechanical movement with an automatic winding mechanism and day and date display.

The XEPHIOS is available in polished stainless steel. The black or white dials feature a classic combination of silver-coloured, applied Arabic numerals and indices. A brown or black alligator leather strap rounds off the elegant look.

MILUS TIRION TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton 1919 Red Gold Limited Edition

Unveiled at Basel world 2009, the TIRION TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton 1919 limited edition pays tribute to the Milus design tradition and a homage to the passing of time.

The name of the Tirion is derived from the constellation of Orion, one of the most easily recognizable and brightest in the heaven. The Tirion TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton 1919 limited to 38 editions is presented here as an exquisite 18K red gold 6N version, the gold tone used at the beginning of the last century. The exact rhythm of the retrograde seconds function in three sectors of 20 seconds each is given by a Swiss quality mechanical movement in an exclusive special version with automatic winding.

Just as unusual and rare as the TriRetrograde function is the unique dial, which is placed in the round, nine-part impressive case of 45mm diameter. It is built up of two layers: the first one is the movement base with a sun-stamped decoration. The second level consists of an off-white dial plate with blued Arabic numerals. Positioned at 6 o’clock, the large date is displayed to its full advantage. The composition of the three seconds display sectors is of eye-catching design: skeleton hours and minute hands constantly allow a view of the three blued seconds hands that jump back in 20-second rhythm.

Starting at 6 o’clock, the first hand jumps instantly back to the right to its starting position after 20 seconds. Going clockwise, the next seconds hand at 10 o’clock followed by the third at 2 o’clock take over the same task. This alternation tirelessly repeats itself, giving the overall impression of a magic dance performed by the seconds hands.

This timepiece shows off its talents at the back of the case also. The round convex sapphire crystal window in the screwed-down case back gives a view of the movement and the skeleton oscillating rotor in the form of the Milus logo with the brand symbol at its centre. A comfortable alligator-leather strap rounds off the elegant appearance of the watch.

Milus TIRION “TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton” Titanium

Dynamic, sportive and powerful – the combination of aesthetics and mechanical finesse is impressively realized by the TIRION TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton Titanium. The exact rhythm of the retrograde seconds function in three sectors of 20 seconds each is given by a Swiss quality mechanical movement in an exclusive special version with automatic winding.

The strong, imposing round case in titanium forms the perfect framework for the creative core elements of the dial. It is built up of two layers: the movement base is covered by genuine carbon fibre and the second level consists of a plate in the same high-tech material. Here, dynamically placed and easily readable, are the Arabic hour numerals and indices. Positioned at 6 o’clock, the large date is displayed to its full advantage

The heart of the dial and the watch is formed by the round inner skeleton area. This is where the three seconds-display sectors with the eye-catching and stunning second hands in the shape of an oscillating rotor are placed. Positioned in three separate circle segments at 6, 10 and 2 o’clock, they work in ‘flying relay’ clockwise.

Starting at 6 o’clock, the first hand in the shape of an oscillating rotor performs its spectacular 20 seconds ride and swings instantly back to the right to its starting position. Going clockwise, the next seconds hand at 10 o’clock followed by the third at 2 o’clock accomplish the same journey. This alternation tirelessly repeats itself, giving the overall impression of a magic and fascinating dance portrayed by these outstandingly shaped seconds hands.

Superlative technology lays bare its secrets: the dial of the TIRION TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton Titanium displays the unique precision of the watch, allowing an exclusive look at the inner life of the automatic movement through the opening at its centre. Lovers of consummate craftsmanship will be captivated. And this timepiece shows off its talents at the back of the case too, in that the round convex sapphire crystal window offers a view of the movement.

A comfortable strap in the finest leather with carbon look completes the dynamic sporty and appearance of the watch.

Milus ZETIOS Chronograph

The tradition-rich Swiss brand Milus is presenting a new, distinctive timepiece with stopwatch function. The masculine ZETIOS Chronograph positively radiates with powerful elegance and is a superb combination of tradition and perfectionism. In the shaping of the watch, design characteristics from the time of the foundation of the brand in 1919 were taken over and newly interpreted in compelling style.

The individualistic, sporty-classic design and the harmony of form and material together with dedicated perfectionism distinguish the ZETIOS Chronograph and make it an exceptionally stylish and absolutely reliable companion. The practical functions of the watch are elegantly housed by the eye-catchingly impressive 45-mm diameter case.

It is round and composed of several parts, has a 18-carat red gold/white gold/stainless steel flattened outer bezel and is superbly complemented by subtly rounded details. Particularly distinctive is the crown – integrated into a finely curved protective housing and flanked by the two buttons that operate the stopwatch functions. Rounded connecting elements join the case to a strap of finest alligator leather in brown/black.

A curved sapphire crystal protects the dynamic, stylish and clearly designed dial. Divergent areas and graduations create dramatic contrasts and at the same time make it easier and quicker to read the display information. The dial has a central circle with a ‘Clous de Paris’ finish. Positioned at 12 o’clock, the large black on white date is displayed to its full advantage.

The prominently placed counters at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock stand out from the background and merge into the colour-matched outer ring of the hour and minutes display. Here, elegantly placed and easily readable, are the applied Arabic hour numerals, two of which are replaced by index points to provide enough room for the counters. The distinctive hour, minutes and counter hands as well as the 5-minute index points are partially coated in white SuperLuminova to guarantee maximum readability in dark conditions.

Every detail of the chronograph clearly expresses power, dynamism and precision – combined with sporty, masculine elegance. The screwed-down case back with round sapphire crystal viewing window offers a look into the inner life of this exclusive men’s watch, in particular the skeleton oscillating weight in the form of the Milus logo with the engraved brand’ symbol in the centre. Milus ZETIOS Automatic

The watch line ZETIOS pays homage to the tradition-rich past of the Swiss watch firm Milus. The classical form of this men’s watch – unpretentious and stylishly elegant – is reminiscent of design at the time of the foundation of the Milus watch brand in 1919. The name of the new classical line ZETIOS is derived from the constellation of Cetus (the Whale), whose mythological origins are found in the Andromeda legend.

The harmonious, round case with its flattened outer rim is available in a choice of polished stainless steel or 18-carat red gold, and is finely complemented by subtly rounded details. The crown is integrated into an ingeniously curved protective housing and has a distinctive look with its embossed Milus logo. Rounded connecting elements join the case to an alligator, calf leather strap or steel bracelet in finest quality and ensure smooth wearer-comfort.

A curved sapphire crystal protects the stylishly designed, plain dial. Circular forms and curvature are clearly effective here too. Divergent areas and graduations create dramatic contrasts: the central circle of the electroplated dial has a ‘Clous de Paris’ finish in black, white or brown. Positioned at 12 o’clock, the large black on white date is displayed to its full advantage, and the snailed seconds dial stands out from the background at 6 o’clock, merging into the colour-matched hours display area with applied Arabic numerals.

A narrow outer ring with minutes index points rounds off the dial. The hours and minutes hands and the hour (5-minute) index points are partially coated with white SuperLuminova, which guarantees maximum readability in darkness. Loving attention to detail is also apparent in the screwed down case back with its round sapphire-crystal viewing window.

The classical design is appropriately complemented by a mechanical Swiss quality watch movement with automatic winding.

Milus HERIOS “TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton” in Gold

After the successful launch of the stainless steel and 18K red gold version in two other extravagant variations, the HERIOS “TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton” will be available also in 18K white gold and white gold version decorated with diamonds.

The exact rhythm of the retrograde seconds function in three sectors of 20 seconds each is given by a Swiss quality mechanical movement in an exclusive special version with automatic winding. This remarkable timepiece is one of the HERIOS range, whose name is inspired by the hero Hercules, son of Zeus and symbol of courage, stamina and strength. As though in one large, sweeping gesture, the strong, definitive presence of the powerful square case forms the framework for the exquisitely designed time display.

And just as the TriRetrograde function is different and rare, so is the lacquered dial of the watch unique: the dial background is distinctive black, pure white or brown and stylised Arabic numerals stretch out gracefully to the edges of the case frame. A dazzling highlight is coming from the 4.75- carat brilliant-cut diamonds adorning the extravagant timepiece in 18K whose case, dial and clasp are in white gold.

Herios TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton 18k red gold

The heart of the dial and the watch is formed by the round silver-coloured inner skeleton area. This is where the eye-catching grouping of the three seconds-display sectors is placed. Skeleton hour and minute hands constantly allow the view of the three blue, retrograde seconds hands jumping back in 20-second rhythm. Positioned in three separate circle segments at 6, 10 and 2 o’clock, they work in ‘flying relay’ clockwise.

Blued steel screws fix the distinctive seconds-display sectors in place and, together with the blued steel hands, give fine accentuation to the silver-coloured background.

Herios TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton White gold with diamonds

The dial of the HERIOS TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton displays the unique precision of the watch, allowing an exclusive look at the inner life of the automatic movement through the opening at its centre. The round convex sapphire crystal window on case-back gives a view of the movement, in particular the skeleton oscillating weight in the form of the Milus logo with the engraved brand’ symbol in the centre.

A comfortable alligator leather strap for the stainless steel and red gold versions and a black strap in finest alligator leather with vintage finishing for the white gold variations complete the elegant appearance of the watch.
