MARVIN WATCHES – Models with Technical Specifications, Price, Brand Details, History, News and Archives

Marvin Malton 160 Rectangle “Flying Hour”

To celebrate its 160 years of existence, Marvin launched a stellar collection called the Malton 160, named after the Malton Special watch introduced by the watchmaking firm in 1906.

Issued in round and later cushion-shaped versions, the collections eloquently embody the brand’s signature design codes: a subtle blend of elegance and sportiness, extreme concern for detail in terms of both aesthetics and finishes, and genuine wearer comfort at an affordable price. This collection, which has been quick to earn iconic status, is now being enriched with the Malton 160 Rectangle.

The “Flying Hour” model is an eloquent tribute to the saga of the Marvin watch brand and to its historical partnerships with the most prestigious airlines of the era.

In 1955, Marvin signed a contract with KLM and became the official watch of its entire fleet of aircraft. Around the globe, long-haul pilots form The Netherlands wore the “Flying Dutchman” watch on their wrist, named after the famous opera by Wagner and specially created for them by the Swiss watchmaking company with a decided penchant for aviation and for classic legends. Subsequently, Marvin was to undertake equally successful collaboration with Air France. Loyal to the brand heritage, the “Flying Hour” follows naturally from the “Jumping Hour” launched in the 1970s, and also gives a nod to the “Passing Hour” introduced in 2008.

The “Flying Hour” features two superimposed “instrument panel” counters that imbue the dynamic architectural lines with a resolutely aviation-inspired spirit. The finely sculpted sides of the case, along with the sapphire crystal that is cambered both above and below, reinforce a powerful and well balanced design, while testifying to the meticulous care devoted to finishing, as well as ensuring excellent readability.

This model is available in two versions, both driven by quartz movement: one with a vertical-brushed rhodium grey dial, and the other with an engine-turned black dial. Finally, the case is beautifully teamed with a pilot’s strap lined in “Marvin” red – one of the brand’s favourite design codes.

MARVIN LOEB Special Edition

Swiss watch brand Marvin has developed a Special Edition in partnership with its ambassador, Sébastien Loeb. Recently crowned world champion for the seventh time, he is widely considered to be the greatest rally driver of all time. Sébastien Loeb wanted a watch that reflected his own style, immediately recognisable, masculine and sporty, and one that incorporates the distinctive codes of car rallying. Marvin has developed two exclusive chronographs for this outstanding French driver and both proudly carry his signature.

Their design is the work of two creative watchmakers: Jean-François Ruchonnet ( best known for the TAG Heuer Monaco V4 and the Cabestan) and Sébastien Perret, the Neuchâtel designer who has been associated with all the recent Marvin collections. The result is an exceptional watch specially developed for the road, for speed and high performance.

The new Loeb Special Edition from Marvin is a real supercar of watchmaking. It evokes the world of rallying in its smallest details thanks to contributions made by Sébastien Loeb himself who was directly involved with the project. The 44 mm diameter steel case with its shaped sides gives it a strongly technical, dynamic appearance. An exclusive innovation: the flexible horns mounted on spring suspensions coloured red.

This is a nod to the critical importance of suspension systems in rally cars, and it allows the watch to adjust perfectly to the wrist. Several other elements are directly inspired by competition rallying: the chronograph buttons coated in black PVD that resemble gear change paddles; the shaped counters designed like dashboard instruments; the dial composed of riveted plates on different levels; the openwork hands that suggest a rally car’s reinforcing bars.

The Marvin Ambassador, Sébastien Loeb, 36, is widely agreed to be the greatest rally driver of all time. He was crowned World Champion for the seventh consecutive year since 2004, an unprecedented achievement in the sport. This incredibly talented French driver is also a watch lover and was directly involved in creating the collection that carries his name.

This collection is a reflection of Marvin’s long-standing passion for the car. In the 1930s the brand launched the “Tyre watch” a pocket watch set inside a rubber tyre. In the 1950s, Pierre Didisheim the great grandson of the founder, took part in several races, driving a car in the Marvin colours. At the 1950 Swiss Grand Prix in Berne he met the famous Argentinean driver Juan-Manuel Fangio who visited the Manufacture four years later with a Marvin watch on his wrist. A famous Swiss driver, Emmanuel “Tulo” de Graffenried, also became a Marvin ambassador.

The new Loeb Special Edition from Marvin is offered in two versions: a mechanical, automatic-rewinding chronograph, Valjoux 7750, in a Limited Edition of 777 pieces, and a quartz chronograph accurate to 1/10th of a second. The quartz version carries the Sébastien Loeb signature on the dial at 4 and engraved on the caseback with the inscription, “World Rally Champion”. The automatic version has the signature engraved on the sapphire crystal of the transparent caseback which reveals the mechanical movement and its rotor in the Marvin colours.

Marvin Malton 160 Cushion

Swiss watch brand Marvin celebrates its 160th anniversary this year with a new headliner collection blending traditional watchmaking with innovative design. The result is the Malton 160 Series, so named after a special edition timepiece dating back to 1906.

Having released a round version of the Malton, Marvin is now releasing a Malton 160 coussin edition. Its calling card blends elements of depth and high relief on the case sides, but also generates contrasting effects between round and square, black and white, polished and satin surfaces, elegance and sportiveness. These contrasting effects give these new models a unique lightness of being, a distinctive signature and great elegance.

The Malton 160 is the brainchild of two celebrity creators, namely well-known watchmaker JeanFrançois Ruchonnet, of Monaco V4 and Cabestan fame, and designer Sebastien Perret, who has worked on every Marvin collection since the company’s rebirth in 2007.

The new Malton 160 cushion is powered by a Swiss-made Valjoux 7750 mechanical auto-winding chronograph movement. It comes in three additional versions: three hands with date mechanical (Sellita SW200), three hands quartz chronograph (ETA G10.211) and three hands quartz model (Ronda 713).

Crafted with care by the best watch manufacturers, the Malton 160 is all about authentic watchmaking, steeped in history and bursting with creativity. Marvin watches carry a 2 year warranty and are water resistant up to 50 meters.

Marvin Malton 160 Round

In tribute to its 160th anniversary, Marvin has derived creative inspiration from the powerful soul of its timeless watchmaking codes. This elegant, understated and modern timepiece exalts the pleasure of wearing a high-quality watch enriched with horological expertise and yet reasonably priced.

The Malton line is rooted in the brand’s rich history, since the name was registered in 1906 and used in particular for an exclusive Malton collection that earned international fame.

The Malton 160 round variation sets a dynamic tempo for this iconic collection that strikes a perfect balance between upstrokes and downstrokes, varied levels and complementary surface treatments. The flowing lines compose a refined and pared-down architectural design.

The four models in the new line all exude the same spirit conveyed through the beautiful simplicity of the round case, the elegance of the broad dial opening, the understated decoration, and the refined manner of interpreting the four movement variations.

Two creative talents are behind this watch. Firstly, the Neuchâtel-born designer Sébastien Perret, who has accompanied all the Marvin collections since the brand was reborn. He embodies the passion of a confirmed talent, displaying technical mastery mingled with an almost “physical” approach to watchmaking that leads him to draw his models by hand throughout the design phase, before proceeding to the indispensable computer modelling processes. And secondly, the repeatedly recognised experience of Jean-François Ruchonnet, a name well known among collectors for his successful career, which has included numerous creations for prestigious fine watch brands.

This newcomer to the Marvin watch collection is interpreted through four variations: one with a Dubois Dépraz 14070 movement, a high-end watch with a regulator-type display; another powered by an ETA 2897 movement with power-reserve display; a third with an SW 200 three-hand movement with date display; and finally a model driven by a Ronda 7004B quartz movement with two hands, small seconds and a large date display.

Produced in the finest watchmaking workshops, the Malton 160 round watches are water-resistant to 50 metres and guaranteed for two years.

Marvin M114 Collection

The M114 collection by Marvin is distinguished first and foremost by its sophisticated contemporary design, but also a worthy heir to almost 160 years of watchmaking history.

The rectangular case – available in PVD pink gold-plated or steel versions – features beautifully curved polished and satin-finished lugs ensuring a perfect fit on the wrist. The black or silver-coloured dial has an open heart at 12 o’clock offering a plunging view into the heart of the self-winding Sellita SW 200 movement with its 38-hour power reserve. A carbon fibre pattern on the dial adds a dynamic modern touch to these watches.

Three hands mark off the time. The small part-red, part-white seconds hand runs over an arc of a circle, very much like a reassuring smile to anyone who might be worried about the time.

Like all Marvin wristbands, this virile strap is extremely supple on the wrist and reveals a cheerful red lining, the casual reverse side of a model intended for those who take advantage of every minute while deliberately keeping things simple.

Made in the finest watch workshops, the M114 collection is driven by a Sellita SW200 Swiss made selfwinding movement. It is water-resistant to 50 metres and covered by a two-year warranty.

Marvin M014 Diamonds Collection

The M014 is a large format – 50 mm by 38 mm – rectangular watch that matches an understated and discrete gem setting on a PVD pink gold case, with a unique dial featuring a central passing hour disc, and the minutes and seconds in counters 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock respectively.

Forty-six precious stones form a geometric array in two sequences: an abstract interpretation of the crown logo floating on the left-hand side of the case, and on the right-hand side, several diamonds set deeply in a highly precise arrangement. Together, they form an asymmetrical design of surprising elegance, conceived for men who assert their personality and their uniqueness with complete serenity.

Revealing a powerful and decidedly masculine presence, this watch presents a look of amusing austerity from whichever angle it is viewed: The contrast between the dial’s pink gold and matt black, and the red hands and the brand’s iconic red hour marker; the non-conformist setting; the exclusive and interchangeable Marvin leather bracelet in black jack calf with, as one would expect, its red lining; the Marvin tang buckle in PVD pink gold.

Marvin M112 Collection

Swiss watch brand Marvin has created the M112, a timepiece with a timeless design that will withstand changes in fashion and the passing years.

Owning the M112, in contrast to the frantic pace of today’s world, is a way of taking the time to appreciate one’s watch by involving it in a daily ritual: winding the mechanical movement that can be seen through the transparent caseback.

This model is an example of the very essence of sophistication and simplicity. A style that makes it a watch for life: work, going out, sport, travel.

The watch is the opposite of an expensive fashion item. It is large and uncompromising, without unnecessary adornment. Each part of this timepiece was created to optimise the purity and harmony of its design.

The M112 naturally adheres to watchmaking codes that are greatly valued by Marvin: the hallmark of the founders that evokes the brand’s long history; the black leather strap that is red on the inside; the notched crown, and the subtle detail of the red square at the outer edge of the index at 8 ’o clock. Not forgetting the two-year guarantee. The watch is available in two versions: silver or black dial with a steel or PVD-coated rose gold case.
