MANJAZ WATCHES

Switzerland is the kingdom of watches and Manjaz is part and parcel of all the extraordinary brands that contribute to this worldwide reputation. The company has all the wealth of a long history behind it dating from its creation in the 19th century in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the ultimate watchmaking town.

It was founded by two great visionary entrepreneurs, Cuthbert Keynes and Absalom McPherson.

Manjaz benefits from the wealth of knowledge surrounding it to draw on the greatest watchmaking know-how and skill the world has to offer.

Manjaz has enjoyed consistent growth in the 20th century, firmly rooted in a philosophy based on three key principles: quality above all things, unremitting innovation and an on-going quest for perfection. Manjaz was notably the first company to produce a pocket watch with a scale map engraved on the case, which became the timepiece of reference for senior officers in the Spanish navy.

It subsequently continued to produce exceptional watches renowned the world over for their pure lines and classical timelessness, progressively developing a high-tech infrastructure enabling it to manufacture watches fulfilling the most stringent quality criteria.

Headed by Mr. Hubert Fluri since 1972, Manjaz is building a long-term development strategy and making substantial investments in research and development in Switzerland.

The brand is also renowned for having developed privileged relationships with the Asian markets considerably ahead of its competitors. Today, the brand’s principal aim remains to fulfill the needs of this clientele, which has been unremittingly true to both this company from the Jura Mountains and its products.

Manjaz positions itself in the “affordable luxury” segment, with a product offering that ranges mainly from 380 to 5,000 Swiss francs, and classical, elegant, timeless lines, targeting both men and women, and all equipped with Swiss-made mechanical and quartz movements.

In 2012, for the first time in its history, Manjaz presented two haute horlogerie models with an exclusive tourbillon. These different and yet inextricably associated timepieces reflect the name and the principle of complementarily contained in the oriental “Yin and Yang” symbolism. In 2012 the brand also launched the new Engineer Series.

Manjaz Apollo Premium Skeleton (Ref. 7703M)

Swiss watch maker Manjaz welcomes the connoisseurs to explore the very essence of watchmaking through the visible beating heart of the newly introduced Apollo Premium Skeleton watch.

Harmoniously revealed in a sculptured dial, this ethereal mechanism lays part of its workings bare to transform horological technique into an element of design.

In classic watchmaking style with a contemporary flare, its high frequency of 8 vibrations per second provides a pulse of perfect Swiss precision. Its pierced bridges and plate expose time marked by lightness. Its dial offers a glimpse of its secrets which are fully revealed by the sapphire crystal case back. This is the delicately skeletonised automatic movement that brings the new Apollo by Manjaz to life.

The Engineer collection from Swiss watch brand MANJAZ clearly asserts its masculine identity, while respecting the brand’s cherished design codes of elegance and classicism.

It features a complication that is extremely useful for travellers: a dual time-zone (GMT) function that is easily identifiable thanks to a central hand which, depending on the version, comes in bright red or deep blue with a red and white tip.

Such is notably the case on the dial which features several noteworthy features, including the double guilloché pattern with “Clous de Paris” hobnail motif on the outside and a sunburst centre. The hours are displayed by an original alternation between raised Arabic numerals and hour-markers. The slender and elegant Superluminova-coated hands enable easy read-off of the time, even in the dark.

Manjaz Yin and Yang Tourbillons

Swiss watch brand Manjaz has recently presented its first tourbillon models named as Yin and Yang. As the name suggests the Yin and Yang tourbillons are based on Asian philosophy, yet created using the state of the art Swiss watchmaking techniques.

Manjaz developed these tourbillons in association with one of Switzerland’s finest watchmaking artisans, Cédric Grandperret who came up with a classic and accurate solution that is clearly designed to endure.

Manjaz Yin and Yang Tourbillons

In this instance, Cédric Grandperret and Manjaz have chosen a tourbillon with a relatively low frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations/hour), for reasons relating both its reliability and its aesthetic appeal. In this way, the wearer of the watch can admire the complication without any difficulty.

That is also why the tourbillon has been placed at 6 o’clock on the dial, thereby beautifully highlighting it yet without disturbing neither the reading of the time or the architecture of the watch. On the contrary, it magnifies it and underscores the overall symmetry of the various elements.

Manjaz Yin and Yang Tourbillons

At Manjaz, respect for the classical heritage does not mean rejecting modern aspects. The Yin and Yang tourbillons are the most accomplished expression of this daring union between traditional and contemporary facets of watchmaking creativity.

The deliberately restrained, pared-down lines of the case provide a perfect frame for the movement and dial, of which all the components and finishing are original and radiate a contemporary charm.

Manjaz Yin and Yang Tourbillons

The result is a model in which rigorous discipline and aesthetic simplicity rub shoulders with modern and fanciful touches, thereby endowing the Manjaz tourbillons with a powerful identity. It brilliantly accompanies the brand’s grand entrance into the field of haute horlogerie.
