Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Massena LAB

Swiss watch brand Louis Erard presents a new limited edition Le Régulateur series in collaboration with Massena LAB.

After the success of Alain Silberstein, Vianney Halter, Atelier OÏ, Seconde/Seconde/ and Eric Giroud editions, Le Noirmont based brand has now entered into a partnership with Massena LAB.

Massena LAB is a creative horological studio that designs, develops, and produces timepieces, often in collaboration with respected watchmakers from around the world. It was founded by founded by noted watch collector and industry veteran William Massena.

Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch comes in two variations. The only defining element between the two is the dial: on one, the lower plate is plated in 2N gold, while the other is rhodium-plated.

Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Massena LAB

Both models come in a limited edition of 178 pieces—a symbolic number meaning “together we are stronger”, a principle dear to Louis Erard’s work—and are available at the same price: CHF 3,600.

The marine chronometer inspired dial is made up of two levels. The two flanges on the hour and seconds counters (at 12 and 6 o’clock) are rhodium-plated with circular satin finish, with centres in silver-plated opaline. The large central minute hand points towards the outer rhodium-plated flange with circular satin finish.

Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Massena LAB

The lower plate is rhodium- or gold-plated, with a grained finish to further increase the contrast with the counters and enhance the readability of the blued steel leaf hands. The polished steel case is fitted with a signature Massena LAB crown.

Louis Erard Excellence Émail Grand Feu II Limited Edition

Louis Erard continues its odyssey at the heart of métiers d’art with Grand Feu enamel. This new interpretation highlights some touches of red and, for the first time, in a 39 mm case.

The stainless steel case houses the Sellita SW261-1 self-winding movement, which drives central hour, minute and small second (at 6 o’clock).

Louis Erard Excellence Émail Grand Feu II Limited Edition

The Grand Feu enamel dial has three colours: white for the background, Louis Erard blue indexes, and flashes of red on the XII at 12 o‘clock and on some of the lines of the small seconds at six o’clock.

Louis Erard Excellence Émail Grand Feu II Limited Edition

The first version of the Excellence Émail Grand Feu was launched in 2021: the first time Louis Erard had reinterpreted a métier d’art. Excellence Émail Grand Feu II has the same DNA, plus a few additional touches to further reinforce its contemporary identity.

Louis Erard Excellence Émail Grand Feu II Limited Edition

The dials, patiently made piece by piece, once again come from the Donzé Cadrans kilns, an art enameller based in Le Locle. The signature fir tree hands in blued steel give the dial a harmonious finish. The strap completes the work in red grained calf leather with blue stitching, lined in Louis Erard blue grained calf leather.

This timepiece is limited to 99 pieces.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main II Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand Louis Erard continues to reinvent traditional métiers d’art with this second hand guilloché dial.

This is the second time Louis Erard has reinterpreted the art of guilloché (the first Excellence Guilloché Main was released in 2021). An art where the craftsman’s hand meets the mechanism: a manual lathe with cams determines the designs, while the hand guides the chisel — a mark of exceptional watchmaking whose origins date back to the 16th century.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main II Limited Edition

Guilloché is the art of decoration and repetitive patterns. Traditionally, guilloché is based on a repertoire of patterns: there are nearly 80, and these patterns constitute the scale on which everything else is composed.

But Louis Erard changed the rules under the artistic and strategic impulse of Manuel Emch. He wanted this second opus of Excellence Guilloché Main to be a 100% original creation, starting from the design, and utilising all the resources of artisan dial-maker Fehr in La Chaux-de-Fonds to enhance and modernise traditional guilloché.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main II Limited Edition

Everything about this piece is innovative. The operating range (the sequence of operations necessary for production) had to be assembled from scratch, from the first black varnishing to the final rhodium plating after the guilloché.

The guilloché itself required all the dexterity of the guillocheuse: the same artisan who made the 2021 dial, she produces the 99 dials piece by piece, each one taking several hours of work on the manual guilloché rose engine lathe. Not to mention the engineers, who had to invent and manufacture new cams (large metal stencils that the lathe translates into a design and scales down to the scale of the dial) to achieve this unprecedented result.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main II Limited Edition

Equipped with the Sellita SW261-1 automatic movement, this new stainless steel wristwatch is a limited series of 99 pieces.

Louis Erard Le Régulateur seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition

Louis Erard presents a new regulator watch model developed in collaboration with seconde/seconde/ in a limited edition of 178 pieces.

Louis Erard Le Régulateur seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition

Romaric André, an independent Paris-based creator and the founder of seconde/seconde/ has been known for his unorthodox interpretations of vintage watches. He usually replaces the watch hands with symbols inspired by contemporary culture, the internet, the streets and video games.

Louis Erard Le Régulateur seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition

For this special edition Louis Erard regulator watch, André took inspiration from the internet, with “404 Error” reinterpreted as a minute hand. Reflecting humour and self-mockery, the brand name on the dial reads Louis Error instead of Louis Erard.

Louis Erard Le Régulateur seconde/seconde/ Limited Edition

The centrally positioned blue minute hand features 404 number on one end and the alphabet ‘S’ representing seconde/seconde/ on the other end.

Louis Erard x atelier oï Le Régulateur Limited edition

After its successful collaborative projects with Alain Silberstein and Vianney Halter, Louis Erard presents a new special edition wristwatch created in partnership with atelier oï, a renowned Swiss firm specialised in architecture and design.

Louis Erard x atelier oï Le Régulateur Limited edition

Limited edition of 178 pieces, Le Régulateur Louis Erard x atelier oï – blends the art of fine watchmaking with modern architectural designs. It boasts an eye-catching two-dimensional regulator style dial with sunray patterns emerging respectively from the centres of off-centred hour and small second hands.

Louis Erard x atelier oï Le Régulateur Limited edition

The dial was designed by atelier oï according to their artistic identity. A pure work of art, the slate grey, matt and polished dial eschews the hour markers and logo. It has three blued hands, respectively for indicating hour, minute and seconds. Originating from two off-entered locations, the rays form a minute-circle around the edge of the dial, with a line every five minutes and exactly sixty segments.

This special edition automatic regulator watch houses an élaboré-grade Sellita SW266-1 calibre with a customized rotor featuring Louis Erard symbol.

Cutting stones and glass to meet the finesse of a watch dial is a great challenge. The dial has two levels and the material is cut to reveal the regulator’s snailed opaline dual counter. The hours are displayed at the top, the seconds at the bottom, and the large signature fir tree minute hand is in the centre. Discreet glossy silver indexes further showcase the technicality of the regulator.

Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein Le Triptyque

Swiss luxury watch brand Louis Erard has introduced its second collaborative project with Alain Silberstein.

In 2019, Alain Silberstein revisited ‘Le Régulateur’ from Louis Erard, a historic, emblematic model produced by the Jura brand. This collaboration resulted in an exceptional model: two series of 178 models which sold in just a few hours and were immediately extremely sought after on the secondary market. And all this even before it was selected for Geneva’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie and it received an award in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021.

In 2021, Louis Erard in collaboration with Alain Silberstein presents three special edition watches. Each model is limited to 178 models, 78 of which are to be sold in a collector’s box containing the entire capsule as well as a digital artwork signed by the artist. The retail price makes a very strong statement: an entry price of CHF 3,500 and the collector’s box at CHF 11,111.

By purchasing Le Triptyque Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein collector’s box set, the 78 privileged owners will also be able to enjoy a personal, non-fungible token linked exclusively to their triptych. This guarantees and protects the authenticity of the limited edition, as well as containing all its technical specifications. In addition, collectors will have the opportunity to customise their digital token with a private message, making it even more unique and timeless.

Louis Erard is one of the first in Swiss watchmaking to offer such a technology, and this can only be offered thanks to Qiibee, which already partners with the brand for its loyalty program.

The triptych brings together three different timepieces – three signature models, each with its own unique features: La Semaine, Le Régulateur II, and Le Chrono Monopoussoir.

The watch case consists of a frame with vertical sidebars called “brancards”, flanked by a conical crown. This is architecture in pure form, each element perfectly held, resulting in geometric simplicity and effects created by contrasts, shapes, materials (grade 2 and grade 5 titanium) and finishes (microblasted and polished).

Le Triptyque Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein caseback view

Water-resistant to 100 meters, the case is further complemented by a nylon strap with a flap, guaranteeing uncompromising comfort. Soft, breathable and lightweight, the strap features a quick-fit closure, while the tight mesh of the double-layer nylon forms a surface that won’t retain moisture. Against this canvas, the designer offers his exercises in style: three movements, three functions, three stories.

The triptych begins with a reference to the artist with the La Semaine Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein. With its three hands, date and day, this model features the exquisite weekly planner developed by Alain Silberstein, easily recognisable as his work: the days do not have names, but rather playful smileys – small, stylised faces symbolising different moods and reminding us that time is a flow, an experience, an emotion evolving through the days.

The central piece is a new variation on the regulator: Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein II. Once again, the designer’s signature touch is instantly visible: a large blue arrow hand for the minutes, a red triangle for the hours, and a small yellow serpentine hand for the seconds.

Telling the time becomes separated into its different parts in a joyful language, sophisticated and childlike at the same time, with the artistic and philosophical depth that characterises all Silberstein’s work: it is a game of proportions, with references ranging from Bauhaus to the rich history of watchmaking.

The third part of the triptych is an all-new chronograph design from the guest artist: Le Chrono Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein. It features centrally placed hour and minute hands, with the chronograph seconds hand at the centre and a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock.

As on the La Semaine model, the monopusher chronograph incorporates the designer’s new signature hour hand: a red circle pinned with a triangle.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main Limited Edition

After the Excellence Émail Grand Feu watch, Louis Erard presents the Excellence Guilloché Main, a limited edition automatic timepiece featuring a hand-guilloché dial with 3D checked pattern. The dial hosts the signature fir tree hands in blued steel.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main Limited Edition

The dials of Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main watches are made piece by piece by hand guilloché, one of the most traditional artistic craftworks of all. The 3D checked pattern of the dial is inspired by the marble parquet of a Venetian High Renaissance palace, crossed with an engraving by M.C. Escher. They are made by the dial maker Fehr in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The pattern is carried out on a manual guilloché rose engine lathe: a century-old machine made of cams, feelers, cranks and chisels.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main Limited Edition

This geometric pattern tricks the eye by creating depth in an image that is perfectly flat. The effect is reinforced by the black varnish, used to cover the dial before the guilloché, and the final rhodium plating that gives a silver patina to the brass exposed by the chisel.

Louis Erard Excellence Guilloché Main Limited Edition

In this model, a limited edition of 99 pieces, Louis Erard combines tradition and contemporary watchmaking. The case is modern, sleek in polished steel, 42 millimetres, water-resistant to 50 metres and with a signature fir tree crown.

The strap is black calf nubuck leather with pin buckle. The automatic Sellita SW261-1 movement is visible from the open caseback.

Louis Erard X Vianney Halter Regulator Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand Louis Erard presents a limited edition automatic regulator watch created in collaboration with master watchmaker Vianney Halter.

This new creation is part of a series of collaborations with watchmaking creators which began with Alain Silberstein; this time, the result bears the dual signature Louis Erard by Vianney Halter.

Louis Erard X Vianney Halter Regulator Limited Edition

This exceptional watch is a quintessence born of the meeting of two worlds. The first is that of Vianney Halter, who has rediscovered the roots of his own style, both classic and ultra-contemporary, and retained the essential. The second is that of Louis Erard, who offered his services to the watchmaker and challenged him to design a model for the general public, for the first time in his career. The piece is a genuine reinterpretation of Vianney Halter’s philosophy of watchmaking, and not merely a reduction or simplification of his very sophisticated style.

Louis Erard X Vianney Halter Regulator Limited Edition

He envisaged this creation as a return to basics – both in relation to his own style and the history of watchmaking. His starting point was in the mechanics and the regulator, the complication which is central to the history of Louis Erard and invariably leads back to the precision clocks of the 19th century, the master clocks of observatories, and to a time when watches had to not only be beautiful, but fulfil their fundamental function: to tell the time.

Louis Erard X Vianney Halter Regulator Limited Edition

Vianney Halter sculpted the dial in order to give depth to each of the three counters. He then cut the hands from blued steel, a first for Louis Erard. The minutes are indicated by a long fountain-pen-shaped hand, giving subtlety to the final indication, but with a good presence in the centre. The hours are also indicated by a fountain-pen-shaped hand. The second hand is simply balanced, with a counterweight to avoid disrupting its operation.

Louis Erard X Vianney Halter Regulator Limited Edition

The watch possesses the inimitable hallmark of the unrivalled designer Vianney Halter, who added a crenellated crown like that from his “Antiqua” model as a final nod to his designs.

Limited edition of 178 pieces, this Automatic regulator watch is priced CHF 3,500.

Louis Erard Excellence Triptych Collection: Petite Seconde, Régulateur & Chronographe Monopoussoir

Swiss watch brand Louis Erard presents its new Excellence Triptych collection, which offers mechanical timepieces boasting timeless design, fashionable style and high-end finishing. This collection three different watch models: Petite Seconde (small seconds), Régulateur (regulator) and Chronographe Monopoussoir (mono-pusher chronograph).

Louis Erard Excellence Triptych collection

The soul of this new family of watches lies in the Jura Mountains, in the small village of Le Noirmont where the brand is based, surrounded by grassy pastures and fir trees. These incredibly distinctive trees inspired the design of the hands and are featured as functional decoration on the crown, in subtle reference to Art Sapin – a variation of Art Nouveau from the Jura.

Louis Erard Excellence Triptych collection

Each of the three models forming this triptych has its own technical and aesthetic defining features. But they are all built in the same spirit, with common aspects between them, such as a family portrait spanning several generations.

Louis Erard Excellence Triptych collection

The cases sport the roundness of old pocket watches, although tightened by sapphire crystal, which projects slightly beyond the case, giving the overall piece a highly modern style. The matt silver dials are reminiscent of the elegant simplicity of the 1950s, but revitalised with shifting levels and contrasting finishes: satin-finished, brushed, snailed and diamond-cut.

Louis Erard Excellence Triptych collection

And each detail has been finely crafted, from the typography and metal index to the hand bushings, in order to produce an original, groundbreaking and decidedly contemporary result. All with the natural, sensual touch of the chocolate calf nubuck leather strap.

Louis Erard La Sportive New Limited Edition Chronographs in Titanium or Bronze

Swiss watchmaker Louis Erard has expanded its La Sportive collection by launched four new chronographs in limited series of 250 examples each. Each of these four timepieces concentrates the excellence of high watchmaking without the excessive price.

Louis Erard La Sportive New Limited Edition Chronographs in Titanium or Bronze

Available in Grade-5 titanium or Bronze CuSn8 case, these new highly technical chronograph watches establish a new standard of watchmaking excellence in keeping with the approach taken by Louis Erard beginning in 1929: to offer high-quality timepieces at ultra-competitive prices.

Louis Erard La Sportive New Limited Edition Chronographs in Titanium or Bronze

The watch cases are topped with an extra-domed sapphire glass coated with an anti reflective treatment, emphasizing the neo-vintage character of the smoked dials available in four shades: earth, fir trees, sky and mist, four hues that evoke the Jura, the birthplace of Louis Erard.

The brown and green versions are nestled in bronze cases. The blue and black versions are coordinated with grade 5 titanium.

In 2019, Swiss watch brand Louis Erard relaunched its iconic Excellence Regulator watch, redesigned by Eric Giroud. This redesigned collection features three limited edition models.

Louis Erard Excellence Regulator Limited Edition - Redesigned by Eric Giroud

With its unusual time display – the hours and seconds are off-centre – the Excellence Regulator has established the success of Louis Erard. In the re-designed edition, the 42-mm diameter stainless steel/ black PVD coated stainless steel case houses a Sellita SW200 self-winding mechanical movement with Dubois Dépraz complication.

Louis Erard Excellence Regulator Limited Edition - Redesigned by Eric Giroud

The dial, available in an intense black, night blue or ivory white, displays the hours on a counter at 12 o’clock, the minutes on a central hand, the seconds on a second counter at 6 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock. The leather strap matches the dials (black, blue, cognac) and is fitted with a folding clasp.

Louis Erard Limited Edition Regulator Watch Designed by Alain Silberstein (The First Collaboration between Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein)

In October 2019, Swiss watch maker Louis Erard announced the launch of a reinterpretation of the brand’s regulator watch in collaboration with the architect and watchmaker Alain Silberstein, available in two limited editions of 178 watches. This is a double first: in its 90 years of existence, Louis Erard has never given carte blanche to a designer, while Alain Silberstein had never before designed a regulator watch.

Louis Erard Limited Edition Regulator Watch Designed by Alain Silberstein (The First Collaboration between Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein)

The regulator complication goes back through the history of watchmaking. Traditionally, the principle of the regulator is to separate the indications of the hours, minutes and seconds in order to improve chronometric precision.

Louis Erard Limited Edition Regulator Watch Designed by Alain Silberstein (The First Collaboration between Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein)

This is a pillar of Louis Erard’s timepieces, with the regulator at the heart of its collections since the brand’s relaunch in 2003. The regulator remains more than ever at the centre of the brand’s strategy.

Louis Erard Limited Edition Regulator Watch Designed by Alain Silberstein (The First Collaboration between Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein)

Alain Silberstein’s design starts with the central minute hand, reduced to the most basic form of an indicator: an arrow, large and yellow on the black version, and deep blue on the white version. This minute hand points to simple lines like those on the train station clocks that were his inspiration. The rest is designed in the same style of geometric simplicity: rectangle, triangle, and circle.

Louis Erard Limited Edition Regulator Watch Designed by Alain Silberstein (The First Collaboration between Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein)

Reflecting Alain Silberstein’s signature style, the hour hand is a large red triangle, while the seconds are indicated by a serpentine hand. The colours follow a similar logic, reduced to the basic spectrum of blue, red and yellow, inspired by the Bauhaus movement.

Louis Erard Limited Edition Regulator Watch Designed by Alain Silberstein (The First Collaboration between Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein)

The watch houses a ETA Peseux 7001 movement with Louis Erard RE9 complication. Decorated with Côtes de Genève decoration, blue screws and Louis Erard engraving, this top grade movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback.

LOUIS ERARD

LOUIS ERARD came to the world of Swiss luxury watch market in 1931.

The parent company was founded in 1929 by Mr Louis Erard at La Chaux-de-Fonds (NE). Until 1942 Louis Erard watches were produced under the parent company Louis Erard & André Perret SA,  La Chaux-de-Fonds which was established in 1929 by Louis Erard and André Perret families. Andre Perret family separated from the business in 1942 and in 1945 Louis Erard became public limited company.

Since it was created in 1931, Louis Erard has had its fair share of ups and downs, even to the point of closing down at the beginning of the 1990’s. The brand was re-launched in 2003 by a group of investors led by Alain Spinedi. Their goal was  to produce high-quality mechanical watches at affordable prices. And time has shown how realistic that goal was, with over 80,000 timepieces leaving the workshops in six years.

In 2006 to celebrate its 75th anniversary they relaunched the original 1931 collection from Louis Erard, GMT Big Date and Moon Phase. In 2007 Louis Erard launched its new 1931 – Evolution line as well as its first line of ladies’ watches, Emotion. In 2008, Louis Erard also entered the world of complications with the development of an exclusive module: one more step towards Haute Horlogerie at affordable prices.

The company is keen to show all watch aficionados that expertise, flawless quality, and small complications can go hand-in-hand with affordable prices. The creative design and most distinguished finishing further enhance the rare excellence of these timepieces.

Louis Erard Excellence Automatic Regulator New Model Reference 86 236 NN 12

Louis Erard has made the regulator become its trademark. This complication, revisited, refined, always reinvented, has carved out a prominent role in the Excellence collection, celebrated for being a breeding ground for iconic watches; in particular, the hand-wound regulator with the power reserve module produced in-house.

The very latest addition is still 100% in line with the Erard philosophy: the Automatic Regulator. Boasting a muscular design and a monochrome look, this timepiece comes in a 42-mm black PVD finished stainless steel case with an automatic heart, shielded by a Dubois Dépraz complication. The watchmaker has decided to beef up this revisited version with a racy, powerful look and a customised design with offset hours and seconds for nonconformist timekeeping.

The understated all-black case with its robust attitude, set against the dynamic beige nubuck leather strap, is a deliberately contrasting colour scheme.

Louis Erard Excellence Hand Wound Regulator Power Reserve, New Model with Silver Toned Guilloche Dial

Louis Erard has created a new hand-wound regulator, surmounted by a power reserve display, an exclusive feature of the maison.

The watch is characterised by the dial with guilloche stamping and shares the same DNA with its predecessor: sobriety and refinement. The lines are essential, the design is plain, and the movement commands respect.

Model: EXCELLENCE 54 230 AA 41, Hand-wound movement, ETA 7001 RE9 calibre with a power reserve module exclusive to Louis Erard, 40mm stainless steel case, water-resistant to 5 Bar, silver-toned dial with guilloché stamping, black leather strap with steel folding clasp

In fact, the “engine” boasts the prowess of an exclusive Louis Erard feature, an indication of its autonomy. It is enough to evoke this particular feature to see a distinctive architecture emerge: measuring time separately, where the hours, minutes and seconds are isolated. The power reserve module surmounts the dial at 9 o’clock.

This new regulator from Louis Erard is an exercise in style in its own right. The 40 millimetre diameter surface is surrounded by the stainless steel case, and the dial is decorated with an eye to refinement and to aesthetics; the background is silver-toned and has delicate guilloché stamping, four blued hands and Roman numerals to read the hours.

Louis Erard Heritage, New XXL Chronograph Models

The Heritage collection has two new XXL chronographs. An impressive pair to complete the models presented last autumn: creations dedicated to urban sports enthusiasts who have cried out for products with bold and geometric lines and a cut out middle case for the movement.

Louis Erard has wanted to follow the path of contemporary and cutting-edge aesthetics for these new timepieces. Silver-toned or black dial, bezel complete with a ceramic insert, also deep black, a tachometric scale, push pieces which appear to protrude from the case: the Watchmaker’s efforts have produced the desired results and the look has a distinctly sporty feel.

The luminescent hands and rods which act as the hour markers represent the maximum stylistic concession by Louis Erard. This timepiece houses the ETA 7750 calibre.

Louis Erard Emotion Ladies Automatic Watch with Openwork Crescent Dial

With this new timepiece, Louis Erard takes women into hitherto unexplored aesthetic terrain. The white dial with its two hands reveals a dandelion whose 23 diamond seeds float upwards to scatter at 12 o’clock. Despite a dainty 34-millimetre format, it comes alive with countless details, each a lesson in refinement.

A further nine diamonds, more imposing in size, mark the hours and encircle a solitary XII. The stamped decoration imprints a subtle pattern of swirling stripes. The openwork crescent at 1 o’clock offers a glimpse of life beneath the dial, driven by a mechanical movement.

This elegant and multiple composition is framed by a polished stainless steel or pink gold-plated steel case with matching bezel – sometimes highlighted by 68 diamonds.

Louis Erard 1931 Vintage Small Second New Models 2016 (With Black, Blue or Grey Dial)

Just months after revisiting the original a first time, Louis Erard returns with yet another interpretation of the small seconds watch. The 1931 spirit remains intact; the innovation lies with the dials, though without straying from the original design.

This time the dial is black, grey or blue in head-to-toe monochrome. Twelve rounded Arabic numerals set the tempo for silvered hands, driven by an automatic calibre whose oscillating weight comes decorated for the occasion.

Then as now, sobriety is the key. And one frivolous touch in the small seconds, offset at 9 o’clock in their own subdial. Despite its vintage lineage, these Small Seconds are very much part of the moment.

Only 500 of the black iteration will be made, each individually numbered and delivered in a unique presentation box with a Montegrappa pen.

Louis Erard 1931 Chrono Vintage Edition 2016

This new timepiece is steeped in the spirit of 1931 – the year Louis Erard was founded – with its vintage style and a sobriety that only heightens its functionality, from the polished steel or PVD steel case to rounded Arabic numerals with hands to match.

Yet this is a strikingly modern watch, from its assertive all-over black or brown to its athletic contours, measuring exactly 42.5 millimetres in diameter, with Valjoux movement and a coordinating leather strap.

A subtle but seriously masculine watch that relives the past right here in the present. And for its most dedicated fans, Louis Erard is offering two limited editions of just 500 pieces, delivered in an exclusive presentation box.

Louis Erard – 1931 Small Second and 1931 Chrono

Flashback to 1931 and the origins of Louis Erard brand, when telemeter and tachymeter functions were in constant demand, when chronographs marked time on two counters, and seconds spontaneously took up residence at 6 o’clock. Fast forward to 2016, and both these creations are still bang on-trend.

Following the latest trends, Louis Erard updates its 1931 collection with two vintage inspired timepieces: 1931 Small Second and 1931 Chrono.

Automatic movements, 40 millimetre and 42.5 millimetre diameters, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides to catch the eye, while the cognac-colour leather strap, or brown leather with crocodile pattern, take their cue from the originals.

As do the dials whose chrono counters overlap the tachymeter and telemeter scales, placing the emphasis on functionality and legibility.

The 1931 SMALL SECOND model is equipped with the Sellita SW-260-1 automatic mechanical movement where as the 1931 CHRONO model houses an ETA 7753 automatic mechanical movement.

Technical details

Louis Erard Excellence Chrono Date

As part of the Excellence collection, the Chrono came accompanied by moon phases and by day and month indications. This year, there is nothing to detract from its display of short times, other than a date indication in its new position at 6 o’clock.

Driven by an automatic movement, this timepiece is about precision and its carefully studied design. Beneath a sober appearance, a silver-toned or black dial bears eloquent witness to tradition. Côtes de Genève set the tone for styles that enter 2016 under the banner of heritage.

The Louis Erard signature is evident in the details: large Roman numerals, a 42 millimetre case, and blued hands on the silver-toned dial, or a black on-black rendition.

Louis Erard – New Excellence and Heritage Models with Open-Worked Dial

Louis Erard has already initiated subtly revealing dials: the Small Second Open springs to mind.

This time, however, the Watchmaker pulls out all the stops when paying tribute to Haute Horlogerie and its traditions. The dial of the Skeleton has been cut away so that the movement is almost entirely visible. Its wheels are laid bare, ready for Louis Erard to embellish them with a brushed finish.

Its mechanical insides and nerves of steel make this a quietly yet unmistakably masculine watch spanning tradition and modernity. A transparent back completes this style statement in which aesthetic and precision are perfectly poised.
