KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Limited Edition

The regional emblem of Hong Kong highlights the Bauhinia × blakeana flower. Commonly known as the Hong Kong orchid tree, it has become the source of inspiration for the Independent German watch brand KUDOKE for their new timepiece.

KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Limited Edition

Inspired by this beautiful orchid flower, Stefan Kudoke and his retail partner, A Watch Company, present the KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Limited Edition, a one off exclusive 10 pieces limited edition for Hong Kong.

KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Limited Edition

The KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Edition timepiece boasts a shimmering Tahiti Mother of Pearl dial. Depending on lighting conditions the different layers of the dark Mother of Pearl either reflect or transmit white light resulting in a shimmering canvas of green, purple, blue and bronze for the rotating domed Sky-disk at 12 o’clock indicating the hour of day or night.

KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Limited Edition

The dark theme is continued at the hand finished caseback, where the floral relief engraving of the movement bridge as well as the balance cock with its infinity symbol are wrapped in a layer of black rhodium.

KUDOKE 2 Bauhinia Limited Edition

The sapphire crystal caseback ensures crystal clear view of this exceptionally decorated mechanical hand-wound movement, which also highlights a hand-engraving of the Bauhinia blossom just underneath the logo plate.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

The independent German watch brand KUDOKE in collaboration with Christopher Daaboul of EsperLuxe has created a special edition timepiece: the Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition (Green Forest Special Edition).

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

The name for this Esperluxe exclusive relates to the dial’s color, a deep textured green inspired by Stefan’s forest surroundings in the German watchmaking haven of Saxony. But more than dial color variation, this special edition is really about the watchmaker’s specialty: hand-engraving.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

While understated, the dial features a frosted green that can be described as a deep teal color. It is grained to achieve a coarser texture that reflects beautifully in various lighting. The Grüner Wald also features the unusual and quite creative, mirror polished, infinity-symbol hour hand accompanying a raised chapter ring for the minutes.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

The timepiece retains the eye-catching design emblem of the Kudoke 2: its day-night indicator at 12 o’clock. It’s a stunning visual highlighted by the domed disk with hand-engraved gold plating to represent the day, and white and black rhodium for night.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

If the dial side of KUDOKE 2 represents more subtlety and elegance, the caseback displays the overt look of artisanal craftsmanship. Stefan’s first in-house caliber, KALIBER 1, is used in the KUDOKE 2, and makes its link to 19th century, English pocket watches with gilded bridges and a large, hand-engraved balance cock across the center of the movement.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

Born in cooperation with fellow independent, Habring2, as well as several other skilled partners from Saxony, Germany and Switzerland supplying unfinished components, the movement is robust, reliable, and exceptionally well finished.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

In addition, Grüner Waldsonder Edition’s movement showcases Kudoke’s superior hand engraving skills. Beyond the standard hand-engraved balance cock on the Kudoke 2, this Sonderedition features a hand engraving on the main bridges as well in the ultimate style of relief engraving. What distinguishes relief work from other styles is the removal of negative space, leaving a raised design. One can notice the quality of Kudoke’s work through the clean sharp sidewalls and flat bottom of the engraving.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

Accompanying the floral engraving work is the “Sonderedition” designation as special edition in German, along with the plaque indicating the limited “one of ten” description. Lastly, a subtle EL is hand-engraved representing the EsperLuxe branding.

Kudoke 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition- A Special Edition Collaboration with EsperLuxe

The KUDOKE 2 Grüner Wald Sonderedition is a special edition of 10 pieces available exclusively from EsperLuxe delivering November 2020 and retailing $12,000.

KUDOKE 2 Nocturne Limited Edition

After the incredible success of the award-winning watch KUDOKE 2 presented last year, Stefan Kudoke now introduces an enchanting limited edition of this model in 2020.

While the original KUDOKE 2 shines with a silver-white dial, this year‘s limited edition boasts a new galvano-anthracite dial that evokes the night sky of the extraordinary 24-hour display at 12 o‘clock. This watch face changes dramatically from light grey to black and white, depending on lighting conditions.

KUDOKE 2 Nocturne Limited Edition

The hand-engraved, domed sky disc is galvanically treated in an elaborate process with the colors of yellow gold and black and white rhodium. Polished hands together with applied rhodium-plated chapter rings form the frame that is at once contrasting and consonant with the nocturnal tones of this very special piece in the KUDOKE HANDwerk line.

KUDOKE 2 Nocturne Limited Edition

Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back is a new version of the manual winding KALIBER 1-24h movement. The hand-finished movement is presented in white rhodium, a stark inversion of the standard caliber traditionally finished in yellow gold.

KUDOKE 2 Nocturne Limited Edition

The balance bridge, also finished in white rhodium, bears the quintessential infinity mark of the HANDwerk series, but on a background that is hand-hammered and hand-finished.

Matching the year, only 20 pieces of this special watch are available worldwide. The limited edition model is priced at 8,665 EUR (excl. VAT) as is the original KUDOKE 2.

Stefan Kudoke – Kudoke 1 & Kudoke 2

With his initial in house-movement KALIBER 1 introduced in 2018, independent watch maker Stefan Kudoke laid the foundation for a new line of models with the promising name „HANDwerk“ (German for „handcraft“).

At Baselworld 2019, the first two models of the new collection were presented. This new watch collection focuses on the application of traditional watchmaking methods, especially the elaborate finishing of the movement components by hand. These new timeless timekeepers complement the existing collection of skeleton watches called „KUNSTwerk“.

KUDOKE 1

The classic bright dial with frosted surface and two edge-polished rings put on revives old times. Numerals and indicators remain discreetly in the background. The small second at 9 o’clock balances the face of the watch as a counterweight against the logo tag and crown.

KUDOKE 1

Eye-catching is the blued hour hand. As the very symbol representing time, an infinity sign can be found here as well as hand engraved in the balance cock of KALIBER 1 standing for endlessness and balance.

KUDOKE 1 movement

Unobtrusively, the 39 mm stainless steel case with onion crown enframes this decent timepiece of traditional watchmaking, whose heart KALIBER 1 is revealed through the sapphire glass bottom. Price excl. tax: 6,303 EUR.

KUDOKE 1

KUDOKE 2

Based on KALIBER 1, Stefan Kudoke developed and executed a modification on the dial side of the movement, facilitating a 24-hour indication at 12 o’clock.

KUDOKE 2

As for the first model, the hand finished movement – KALIBER 1 in version 24H – is visible through the glass bottom of the case. At the front the eye is caught immediately by the rotating domed sky disk.

KUDOKE 2 movement

Hand engraved and electroplated in three colors it demonstrates the familiar creativity of Stefan Kudoke. A small gold-plated triangle indicates the hour of day or night. But even if you can only take a quick glance at the watch, the upper half of the 24-hour-indication shows intuitively the current day or night time.

KUDOKE 2

The dial continues the artistic line of the first model, combining roman as well as Arabic numerals on the two rhodium plated rings put on. And here again the attentive observer can find the infinity sign included in the hour hand as well as balance cock engravement in the movement. Price excl. tax: 7,807 EUR.

Free KudOktopus by Stefan Kudoke

In 2011, independent German luxury watch atelier KUDOKE presented KudOktopus during Baselworld for the first time. Two years later KudOktopus got a big brother with Tourbillon – called KudOkTourbi.

As the names indicate, both watches boast a common feature – an octopus, three-dimensionally worked out, skeletonized and engraved by hand. Now, Kudoke welcomes a new model – Free KudOktopus – to the KudOktopus family.

Free KudOktopus by Stefan Kudoke

Unlike its two brothers, Free KudOktopus has been released from the case and is now no longer captured behind glass. With its heart beating at a rate of 18’000 vibrations per hour the suction power lasts for 46 hours.

Free KudOktopus by Stefan Kudoke

Free KudOktopus comes dressed in a stainless steel case of 42 mm diameter with sapphire glass on top and back. The watch is worn on alligator leather strap with stainless steel pin buckle. The retail price of Free KudOktopus watch is 10,100 EUR (excl. VAT).

KUDOKE

Kudoke is a German luxury watch brand which is specialised in the manufacturing of hand made watches. The watch brand is founded by a talented watch maker, Stefan Kudoke.

Stefan Kudoke started studying the art of watchmaking from scratch. Two skilled masters in this handcraft taught him to understand and love the mechanical process of time showing. His outstanding talent made him finish his studies with honours. Later on he started working for ‘Glashütte Original’ in the studio for complications and prototypes and after that in the service department for ‘Breguet’, ‘Blancpain’ and ‘Omega’ in New York. But all this success couldn’t satisfy him. Before receiving a business degree he also became a master craftsman in watchmaking. In addition to his studies Stefan Kudoke began to teach himself the art of skeletonizing and hand engraving which led to the
creating of his first skeleton watch, the foundation stone of KUDOKE.

Stefan Kudoke

In 2008 KUDOKE presented his products at Munich time watch fair and also at WATCH 2008 in Maastricht. On April 2009 KUDOKE took part in the world watch and jewellery show in Basel as exhibitor for the first time. Stefan Kudoke was awarded Zukunftspreis Brandenburg 2009 for outstanding entrepreneurial achievements. In 2018, Kudoke presented his first in house movement.

There are many brands performing on this market, only few can create emotions like a KUDOKE does. The company believe it is the perfect combination of fine watch mechanism and exceptional design. To handcraft a piece of art like this a KUDOKE has to go through a long and difficult work process. A gifted watchmaker needs many years of experience to settle the ability of making skeleton watches. For this reason it is impossible to produce large numbers.

Manufacturing a KUDOKE requires creativity, time and pursuit of perfection to meet the high qualitative standards. Hereinafter we give you an insight into the development of a KUDOKE and the work stages accordingly. Based on the type of movement, a sketch is made, where customers may express their individual wishes which are implemented if technically feasible. Within this step it is extremely important to preserve the stability of the movement. After the movement has been disassembled into its components, the sketch is now copied on the actual movement.

Accordingly plates, bridges and the block are perforated and skeletonized by hand with a small saw. Within the next work step the movement is shaped by filing, any burr has to be removed and decorative grindings are made. Afterwards edges are filed and polished until a so called “Anglierung” has developed. For some models such as the Mysticum even the dial as well as hands are sawed out, filed and polished completely by hand. Afterwards they are blued over a naked flame. The traditional finishing of a movement contains the refinement of the screws by hand as well. The movement in its final shape is now engraved by hand. By including special patterns, writings and symbols the individual style of the movement can be intensified. Before reassembling and casing a movement the plates, bridges and the block are electroplated. By use of this technique fascinating color effects can be created.

Premium German Mechanical Watch Atelier Kudoke Presents Their First Own Manufacture Movement

Under Kudoke label, Stefan Kudoke has been manufacturing extravagant skeleton watches with elaborate engravings exclusively by hand since more than 10 years.

KudOktopus, his most famous model, is iconic amongst watch collectors worldwide by now. During the last years he concentrated on perfecting the art of hand-skeletonizing. Now Stefan Kudoke presents his own manufacture movement.

Kudoke in-house caliber

Christened Kaliber 1, the new manufacture movement developed by Kudoke is inspired by the designs of historical English pocket watches and its mechanisms.

Movement of  an English Pocket watch
Inspiration: Movement of  an English Pocket watch

In the past, intensive co-operations between German and English watchmaking existed after all. It was the German diplomat and astronomer Hans Moritz von Brühl, who supported English precision watchmaking (for example by patronizing Thomas Mudge) and finally bringing it to Saxony and Dresden. By doing so he set an important milestone for the still famous Saxon watchmaking. With this new watch caliber Stefan Kudoke pays tribute to the watch making tradition of Saxony and honors the old masters.

KUDOKE Kaliber 1

Based on the watch movement Kaliber 1 KUDOKE is going to come up with a new line of models extending the range of „art watches“ and at the same time keeping his typical signature of handcraft perfection and artistic creativity.

KUDOKE Kaliber 1

Also with his first own movement Stefan Kudoke sets great value upon the refinement of the watch components by hand. Be it the polishing of edges at bridges or steel parts, the engravings or the surface treatment of the wheel bridge using a special reaming technology – all steps during the finishing process are carried out by hand exclusively.

The new movement Kaliber 1 and a first watch model equipped with it will be launched by Stefan Kudoke during Baselworld 2018.

KUDOKE PANDA

Panda is a cute animal that symbolises a balanced life in peace, happiness and harmony. With the latest KUDOKE model Panda we are reminded of this philosophy with every glance at the watch. Skeletonised and engraved into a manual winding movement the Panda Bear is resting in itself.

KUDOKE PANDA watch

Gnawing it is sitting in a Bamboo grove, that continues also at the backside of the watch. For manufacturing this miniature piece of art Stefan Kudoke once again used traditional methods like skeletonising and engraving by hand – completely in line with the spirit of Panda. Instead of using CNC machines and laser to create surfaces, the Panda has been given a soul by use of a coping saw and graver.

KUDOKE PANDA skeleton watch

The animal and its surroundings almost seem alive due to the double electroplating of the movement plates and bridges using white and black rhodium. Its heart is ticking with 18’000 vibrations per hour and its staying power lasts for 46 hours.

KUDOKE PANDA

To make the Panda feel comfortable and relaxed at the wrist of its wearer, a stainless steel case of 42 mm diameter and two sapphire glasses protect this endangered animal.

KUDOKE PANDA

Due to the extraordinary quality of skeletonising and engraving by hand, unique works of art are created. Thus every Panda is unique – just like in real life. The retail price of the watch will be 8500,- Euro.

KUDOKE Real Skeleton

There are various types of skeleton watches – industrially produced or traditionally made by hand with a little watchmakers’ saw. Mostly abstract shapes are being moulded out of plates, bridges and cock to reveal the interplay within the mechanical movement.

When developing his newest work of art Stefan Kudoke, renowned for his extraordinary skeleton creations, got his inspiration from 400 year old timepieces. Historic so called Memento-Mori-clocks address the transience of time expressing it symbolically with dead-head and bones.

KUDOKE Real Skeleton watch

This approach combined with the actual term „skeleton watch“ motivated the master watchmaker to create quite a unique watch: „Real Skeleton“. By taking the term literally he formed skeletal parts such as skull and bones out of movement plate and bridges which are electroplated in black rhodium and rose gold.

KUDOKE Real Skeleton watch

The play of colours and the first-class hand-engravings make the resulting shapes look very realistic. In addition the attention to detail and quality incorporated in this watch is testified by the handmade bone-shaped hands as well as genuine diamonds set into the eyes of the skull.

KUDOKE Real Skeleton watch

Real Skeleton will be available in a 42 mm Stainless Steel case for 8,990 Euro (incl. 19% VAT). This exceptional timepiece from the master of skeleton watches will be unveiled at Baselworld 2014.

KudOkTourbi – KUDOKE Meets Habring²

Stefan Kudoke joins with Austrian watch making brand Habring² to unveil an extra ordinary timepiece: KudOkTourbi. Both watch making brands have been creating fine mechanical luxury timepieces over the last years.

The unusual KudOkTourbi  timepiece  can be admired from all angles through two sapphire glasses of the 42 mm case made of stainless steel. The Alligator strap and folding clasp holds it firmly at the wrist.

KudOkTourbi - KUDOKE Meets Habring²

Octopodes are rumored to be quite intelligent. Following this, they like to explore their environment. In doing so the “KudOkTourbi” discovered its preference for Habrings’ flying one minute tourbillon, not willing to release it from its rose gold tentacles. Fascinated by almost 100 high precision components rotating every minute around its own axis, “KudOkTourbi” enjoys new insights that constantly vary. After feeding it keeps the movement running for 44 hours.

KudOkTourbi - KUDOKE Meets Habring²

According to Octopodes’ natural habitat the remaining movement is featured all black – just like the depth of the sea. Besides, the “KudOkTourbi” has a special gift: with its two tentacle tips filled with blue ink it is able to exactly determine time.

Its eight tentacles also represent the exclusive limitation number of this shy maverick. You can give “KudOkTourbi” a lovely new home at a price of 29,900 Euro (incl. 19% VAT). This unique timepiece will be unveiled at Basel world 2013.

With the field of energy activated, the wearer feels more resilient and can deal better with stress. Improved powers of concentration, a deeper sleep and higher levels of general well-being are further welcome benefits from this technology based on natural effects. Inspired by the fact that Earth is the symbol representing the powers of Natural Frequency Technology, Stefan Kudoke created this watch for the Philip Stein Limited Edition.

Philip Stein Round Prestige Limited Edition Kudoke
Each watch mechanism is skeletonised and engraved by Kudoke by hand. The globe shape, symbolising Earth, grew to be the signature feature of this watch-lover’s collection.

Carved from the mechanism’s platinum, creating a 3D optic, the seas appear to be sunken and the continents raised. The whole gradient effect is enhanced by the contrast of yellow gold and black rhodium, a galvanic covering.

Each globe varies slightly in design, each engraving is different. Combined with the highly delicate handcraftsmanship, this ensures that each piece is unique.

A case of high-grade stainless steel surrounds the visibly fascinating inner workings of the Philip Stein Limited Edition watch and a luxurious, black crocodile leather strap completes the stylish effect.

About Stefan Kudoke

Watches have fascinated Stefan Kudoke since he was young and it was clear to him that when he was older, he would become a watch-maker. After his apprenticeship he joined Glashütte Original where he earned a number of awards. He also gained pivotal impulses for his professional development by working with the Breguet, Blancpain and Omega brands in New York. After successfully qualifying as a Master, he then began to design his own watches.

Today, Kudoke is a specialist in the art of skeletonising. By enhancing the beauty of the watch’s mechanism and coordinating it with exquisite design features requiring weeks of hand craftsmanship, he creates unique pieces of art.

A true master of his skill, only very few watchmakers in the world are trained in skeletonising and Kudoke is known to be one of the very best. With great expertise and passion, he pursues his aim of creating not only timekeepers of precision but pieces of art of enduring value at the same time.

Kudoke White Flower

At Basel world 2012, German watch maker Stefan Kudoke will present a pure watch for women called “White Flower”.

Just in time for the approaching spring Stefan Kudoke created the model “White Flower” which impresses with female elegance. According to its name rhodium plated lowers have been shaped out of the massive Sterling Silver dial by hand using the so called relief engraving technique. Next to the raised numbers eight white diamonds indicate the time.

Kudoke White Flower watch

The exceptional and handmade blued steel hands take up on the flower theme. Shaped as leafs it has been created especially for this watch model. On the backside of the watch the flowers appear again entwining the center of the automatic winding movement.

Kudoke White Flower watch

Flowers are in need of warmth and light. Therefore it has been planted behind two translucent sapphire glasses like in a greenhouse. The body heat of the wearer warms the sensitive plants. Due to years of research Stefan Kudoke succeeded in cultivating a flower species that is able to cope without any water.

That is why the case is protected against water. The flowers‘ vigor is fertilized by a Swiss automatic winding movement delicately refined in KUDOKE manner. The 38-mm-case impresses by quality features like screwed bezel, case back and strap elements.

Golden Dragon by Stefan Kudoke

This year, Frankfurt based German watch brand KUDOKE presents a unisex timepiece model “Golden Dragon” at Baselworld world watch and jewelry fair. On occasion of the year of the dragon, Stefan Kudoke created this watch model named “Golden Dragon”.

Golden Dragon by Stefan Kudoke

According to its name a gold plated dragon has been shaped out of the massive Sterling Silver dial by hand using the so called relief engraving technique. Its eyes are decorated with two diamonds.

Golden Dragon watch by Stefan Kudoke

On the backside of the watch the dragon appears again grasping the center of the automatic winding movement with its claw.

Golden Dragon by Stefan Kudoke

The watch maker locked it in between two sapphire glasses to protect its wearer against its fire spitting and sharp claws. The watch houses a Swiss automatic winding movement delicately refined in KUDOKE manner.

The 38-mm-case impresses by quality features like screwed bezel, case back and strap elements.

KUDOKE ExCentro 3

In this new KUDOKE ExCentro 3 model, an eccentrically displaced self winding movement ETA 2824 is held in the 42 mm case by an hand-skeletonized and – engraved ring.

On the back a decorated movement with rose gold plated rotor is revealed through sapphire crystal.

KUDOKE ExCentro 3 watchThe ExCentro timepieces by Stefan Kudoke owe their name to the Latin phrase ‘ex centro’ which means ‘out of the middle. Even if the concept stays the same, the appearance of the different models of this range varies. Whether an elaborate skeletonized pattern with decorative engravings or a decent ring – the ExCentro range caters for all tastes.

The octopus is wrapped in rose gold, its suction cups in white rhodium. The remaining movement as well as wheels are galvanised in black rhodium. With its all-embracing tentacles KudOktopus entangles the steadily swinging balance. Holding wheels and screws tightly it captures the most precious – time.
