Grand Seiko Spring Drive ‘White Birch’, Reference SLGA009

Introduced in 2021, the Grand Seiko Heritage Hi-Beat 36000 Automatic reference SLGH005 is one of the most talked-about creations in the recent history of the prestigious Japanese brand. Nicknamed ‘White Birch’, it boasts a captivating textured dial design inspired by the beautiful white birch forests of Japan. This extremely popular watch also won the Men’s Watch prize at the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

Following this legacy, Grand Seiko now presents a new Spring Drive watch with the same dial design. Powered by the latest and finest Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, the new model is inspired by the atmosphere of a white birch forest but in a subtly new way. It particularly echoes the feeling of the forests of Shinshu, home to the studio where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are made.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive ‘White Birch’, Reference SLGA009

Meticulously crafted by master artisans, the delicately textured dial and the tempered blue seconds hand of the new ‘White Birch’ watch reveal an artistry that is matched by the ‘frost’ finishing of the movement. This exquisite spring drive calibre is clearly visible through the sapphire case back.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive ‘White Birch’, Reference SLGA009

The delicate texture of the movement’s finish reflects the frost that winter brings to the trees in Shinshu. The bridge lines and hole edges are diamond-cut to reflect light from all angles and the jewels and the tempered blue power reserve indicator add a quiet sparkle that is a delight to behold. Caliber 9RA2 delivers a power reserve of up to 120 hours and is accurate to ±10 seconds per month.

The watch’s design evokes the Grand Seiko Style defined back in 1967 with the celebrated 44GS. However, it also announces an important step forward in Grand Seiko design. To be known as the Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Style, this new grammar of design takes Grand Seiko’s ideals of beauty, legibility and wearing comfort to new levels.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive ‘White Birch’, Reference SLGA009

Its Zaratsu polished, distortion-free mirror finish and delicate hairline finish alternate to give the case a quiet and harmonious glow. Its powerful hands and grooved, prominent markers ensure perfect legibility. The case’s center of gravity is lower, and the bracelet has just the right width and depth to ensure that the watch sits easily and securely on the wrist.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive ‘White Birch’, Reference SLGA009

Starting from February this year, both High-Beat and Spring Drive ‘White Birch’ timepieces will be the part of the new Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection.

Grand Seiko Heritage Watch with Tree-Rings Dial (reference SLGA008), Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition

As part of the 140th anniversary celebration of SEIKO Watch Company, Grand Seiko has recently released a high-beat watch boasting a tree-rings inspired dial.

Now a new rose gold model with the same design theme joins the exclusive 140th Anniversary collections. The new creation (reference SLGA008) is powered by a new Spring Drive movement, Caliber 9RA2.

Grand Seiko Heritage Watch with Tree-Rings Dial (reference SLGA008), Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition

The new Grand Seiko Spring Drive 5 Days Caliber 9RA2, which inherits all the performance characteristics of the Spring Drive Caliber 9RA5 introduced last year in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Grand Seiko.

The new setting of the watch hands and the power reserve indicator moved to the movement’s back gives the watch a slender and elegant feel upon observation of the dial and enhances the dial’s exquisite craftwork signature to Grand Seiko.

Grand Seiko Heritage Watch with Tree-Rings Dial (reference SLGA008), Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition

The beauty of the movement and its spectacular Shinshu Frost Finish are revealed through the sapphire crystal case back. The delicate texture of the movement’s finish reflects the frost that winter brings to the forests in Shinshu where all Spring Drive watches are made. The bridge lines and hole edges are diamond-cut to reflect light from all angles and the jewels and tempered blue power reserve indicator add a quiet sparkle that is a delight to behold.

Caliber 9RA2 allows the new timepiece to be slimmer than any other current automatic Spring Drive creation. The movement achieves its slimness thanks to the re-design and re-positioning of the Magic Lever. This Offset Magic Lever is positioned away from the center of the movement to reduce its thickness. The new setting of the hands also contributes to the slender profile of the watch.

The movement may be slim but it has enhanced rigidity and shock resistance thanks to the new layout of the gear train towards the center of the movement and the One-Piece Center Bridge that holds them together.

Caliber 9RA2 incorporates two barrels, one larger and one smaller, that deliver a power reserve of up to 120 hours. The ±10 seconds per month accuracy rate is made possible by a new IC with a built-in temperature sensor, and to the selection of highly stable quartz oscillators that have gone through a three-month aging process.

The quartz oscillator and temperature sensor are vacuum-sealed into a single package to eliminate even the slightest temperature difference between the two to maintain the watch’s accuracy at the highest possible level.

The miniscule but visible variations in the dial’s depth reveal the subtlety of the dark and light tones of the wood grain. The brown tone of the dial perfectly matches the 18k rose gold case to give the watch a gentle and warm feel.

Grand Seiko Heritage Watch with Tree-Rings Dial (reference SLGA008), Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition

The watch’s design is true to the Grand Seiko Style defined back in 1967 with the celebrated 44GS but its heritage is combined with a contemporary feel that perfectly expresses the quiet but strong character of Grand Seiko. Its powerful hands and grooved, prominent markers ensure perfect legibility. The Zaratsu polished, distortion-free mirror finish and the delicate hairline finish alternate on the case to create a quiet and harmonious glow.

As is Grand Seiko’s tradition, the star mark at six o’clock indicates that the indexes are solid gold, as are the GS letters, the calendar frame and the clasp. The hour hand is large in volume and crafted to align exactly with the grooved and prominent hour markers, enhancing the legibility of the time.

The watch will be available as a limited edition of 140 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected Grand Seiko retailers worldwide in November 2021.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Spring Drive SBGZ007 (Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition)

Celebrating Seiko’s 140th Anniversary, Grand Seiko presents a limited edition Spring Drive watch from its Masterpiece collection. Featuring a platinum case, this elegant timepiece has a deep blue, star speckled dial inspired by the spectacular night skies of Achi, a mountainous village located in the southern part of Japan’s Shinshu region.

This masterpiece watch was made by the elite team of watchmakers at the Micro Artist Studio in Grand Seiko’s manufacturing facility in Shiojiri, located in the same Shinshu region as Achi. It is equipped with the Spring Drive manual-winding caliber 9R02, which was first presented in 2019 to mark the 20th anniversary of Spring Drive.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Spring Drive SBGZ007 (Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition)

The blue dial has a remarkable depth that is accentuated by the quiet and delicate sparkle of what appear to be distant stars. A unique manufacturing and finishing technique combining stamping, plating and painting gives the dial a different aspect at each and every viewing angle, just as does the sky above Achi. The Platinum 950 case is carefully engraved with a pattern which is replicated in different directions on the Zaratsu polished case, again capturing the exquisite order and ever changing aspect of Achi’s starry skies.

Refined and slim, its case has a diameter of 38.5mm and depth of 9.8mm.The hour and minute hands and hour markers are made of 14k white gold to ensure that their brilliance endures for decades. The Grand Seiko name, the minute markers and all the other markings are etched into the dial.

The power reserve indicator is on the back side of the movement next to the barrel whose shape echoes that of the bellflower that is the symbol of Shiojiri. The rims of the bridges, the holes for the rubies and the screws are all expertly hand polished to a perfect mirror finish and the tempered blue screws stand out in contrast to the hairline finish of the bridges to heighten the perception of the perfection of the engineering.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Spring Drive SBGZ007 (Seiko 140th Anniversary Limited Edition)

The caliber also incorporates an 18k yellow gold plaque on the lower bridge, which carries the engraved words “Micro Artist”. If the owner wishes, this inscription can be replaced with a word of his or her choice.

The movement is assembled and adjusted by the craftsmen and women in the studio including Katsumi Nakata, who has been recognized as a Contemporary Master Craftsman and is now the third member of the Micro Artist Studio team to have received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon from the Japanese government.

The outstanding 84 hour power reserve of Caliber 9R02 is realized thanks to the Dual Spring Barrel, in which two mainsprings are set in parallel within a single barrel, and the Torque Return System. When the mainspring has been fully wound and the torque output is at its highest, approximately 30% of the available power is not needed to maintain the precision of the watch and is in effect wasted in a normal movement. The Torque Return System uses this energy to rewind the mainspring, resulting in an increase in the power reserve. In Caliber 9R02, this system is activated for 48 hours after the mainspring has been fully wound.

The watch will be available as a limited edition of 50 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques in August 2021.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day Jewelry Watch, Reference SBGD207

In 2020, Grand Seiko released its first jewelry masterpiece, a platinum cased Spring Drive watch whose design took inspiration from the winter mornings in the Shinshu region which is home to the Micro Artist Studio where the watch was created. Now Grand Seiko has chosen another unique aspect of the studio’s stunning and varied natural surroundings as the motif of another jewelry watch to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the company’s establishment.

This new jewellery masterpiece takes inspiration from the infinite shades of green on the pristine, crystal clear water of Mishaka Pond, which is near to Shiojiri where the Micro Artist Studio is located. Japanese painter Kaji Higashiyama’s famous 1982 work “Vibrant Green” perfectly depicts the pond’s green beauty. Inspired by the Mishaka Pond’s enchanting beauty and serenity, this new Spring Drive timepiece boasts a green mother-of-pearl dial and the green garnet indexes.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day Jewelry Watch, Reference SBGD207

The carefully selected green garnets and tapered baguette diamonds that accompany them act as minute and hour markers. They are set into an 18k white gold base and are separated by 48 additional diamonds and 12 garnets that are individually set around the markers to further enhance the depth and beauty of the dial. The gems are placed exactly horizontally so that they catch the light evenly. The garnet at twelve o’clock is slightly wider than the rest to ensure the perfect legibility of the time.

The Spring Drive 8 day Caliber 9R01 delivers an accuracy rate of ±10 seconds a month. It offers a power reserve of 192 hours when fully wound. Caliber 9R01 incorporates three barrels arranged in sequence to deliver the extended power reserve which is shown by an indicator visible through the sapphire case back along with the exquisite finishing of the one-piece bridge, designed in the image of Mt. Fuji, and the rubies, which evoke the lights of Suwa City below Shiojiri.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day Jewelry Watch, Reference SBGD207

The case is made of Platinum 950 and is finished with a form of Zaratsu polishing that is specially adapted for platinum and makes possible the distortion-free surfaces and sharp ridges that are an intrinsic part of the Grand Seiko aesthetic.

This Grand Seiko masterpiece is offered in a limited edition of 15 and will be available in the Grand Seiko Boutiques in May 2021.

The watch has an accuracy rate of +/- one second a day, whether the chronograph is in use or not and, thanks to the regulation system that is unique to Spring Drive, the precision remains at this high level even when the power reserve is low.

The Caliber 9R86 has more than 400 parts and all are made and hand assembled in the Shinshu Watch Studio in central Japan. The watch will be available as a limited edition of 500 at Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected Grand Seiko retailers worldwide in July 2021.

Grand Seiko Heritage Hi-Beat 36000 Automatic Watch with Textured Dial, Reference SLGH005

Grand Seiko presents a new Heritage Hi-Beat 36000 model with a textured dial, inspired by the beautiful white birch trees.

The watch takes inspiration from the white birch (Shirakaba) tree forests near the Shizukuishi studio where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted.

The overall look of the new creation is known as the Series 9 Design and it will be an important part of the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection’s signature in the years to come. Its powerful hands and grooved, prominent markers ensure perfect legibility, its Zaratsu polished, distortion-free mirror finish and delicate hairline finish alternate to give the case a quiet and harmonious glow.

Its case features wide lugs and a low center of gravity that ensure that the watch sits easily and securely on the wrist. The Series 9 Design is true to the Grand Seiko Style defined back in 1967 with the celebrated 44GS, but its heritage is combined with a powerful contemporary feel that points towards a new era.

This stunning wristwatch is powered by the innovative mechanical hi-beat Caliber 9SA5, which offers a power reserve of 80 hours. First presented in 2020, Caliber 9SA5 incorporates the entirely new Dual Impulse Escapement, the Grand Seiko free-sprung balance, and the horizontal gear train.

Grand Seiko Limited Edition Seiko 140th Anniversary – A Re-Creation of the First Grand Seiko in 18k Rose Gold

In 1881, Seiko’s founder Kintaro Hattori established his own company, “K. Hattori”, to wholesale and retail imported timepieces and, just twelve years later, he established a factory which he called Seikosha, to produce his own clocks and, later, watches. Seiko will be celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2021.

To mark the 140th anniversary of its foundation, the Japanese watch maker has proposed a new re-creation of the first Grand Seiko from 1960. This commemorative timepiece will be released in January 2021.

Grand Seiko Limited Edition Seiko 140th Anniversary - A Re-Creation of the First Grand Seiko in 18k Rose Gold

This ultra-thin watch features an 18k rose gold case with 38mm diameter and just 10.9mm thickness. The hand-winding Caliber 9S64 provides a power reserve of 72 hours with an accuracy rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day. The “S” trademark is visible through the sapphire crystal set into the 18k rose gold case back.

The case and indexes are in 18k gold and the anniversary is marked by the trademark “S” engraved on a gold plate set into the movement’s bridge. Kintaro Hattori registered this mark in 1900 as the symbol of the Seikosha factory. The watch will be presented in January 2021 as a limited edition of 350 in the Grand Seiko Boutiques worldwide.

Grand Seiko Kintaro Hattori 160th Anniversary Limited Edition

Grand Seiko pays tribute to Seiko’s founder Kintaro Hattori on his 160th birth anniversary with a limited edition timepiece.

Seiko’s founder Kintaro Hattori was born in central Tokyo in 1860. In 1881, at the age of just 21, he set up his own company, “K. Hattori”, to wholesale and retail imported timepieces and, just twelve years later, he established a factory which he called Seikosha, ‘The house of precision’, to produce his own clocks and, later, watches.

To mark the 160th anniversary of his birth, Grand Seiko created a limited edition Spring Drive watch. It was made by the elite team of watchmakers at the Micro Artist Studio. The watch features a softly rounded case made of Platinum 950 and it is Zaratsu polished to a perfect distortion-free finish. The sapphire crystal glass is dual-curved and each surface is shaped to ensure perfect legibility. With a thickness of just 9.6mm, the platinum case of the watch measures 37.5mm diameter.

Grand Seiko Kintaro Hattori 160th Anniversary Limited Edition
Grand Seiko Kintaro Hattori 160th Anniversary Limited Edition @Grand Seiko

The intricate pattern on the delicate dial surface offers varying depths. A tradition since the 1960’s, a star mark located at six o’clock denotes that the indexes are of solid gold. The interplay of light and shadow is an essential part of the signature of every Grand Seiko. The application of seconds markers enhance the legibility. The indexes and the hour and minute hands are in 14K white gold and are specially cut to create a sharpness that amplifies the enduring beauty of the gold.

The watch is powered by Caliber 9R02 which is assembled, adjusted and finished by hand by the craftsmen and women of the Micro Artist Studio. It delivers a power reserve of 84 hours thanks to the Dual Spring Barrel in which two independent thin, long mainsprings are set in parallel in a single barrel, and the Torque Return System.

When the mainspring has been fully wound and the torque output is at its highest, approximately 30% of the available power is not needed to maintain the precision of the watch, and is in effect wasted in a normal movement. The Torque Return System uses this energy to rewind the mainspring, resulting in an increase in the power reserve. In Caliber 9R02, this system is activated for 48 hours after the mainspring has been fully wound.

The barrel shape echoes the bellflower that is the symbol of Shiojiri where the studio is located. The caliber also incorporates an 18k yellow gold plaque which carries the engraved words “Micro Artist”. These words can be replaced with any other words on request.

The Grand Seiko Kintaro Hattori 160th anniversary watch will be available in January 2021 as a limited edition of 50 in the Grand Seiko boutiques worldwide.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SLGH003)

Concluding Grand Seiko’s 60th anniversary celebration, the Japanese fine watch brand has released a limited edition watch equipped with the revolutionary automatic caliber 9SA5.

Introduced in March 2020, 9SA5 is an entirely new high beat mechanical movement. Developed from scratch exclusively for Grand Seiko, Caliber 9SA5 will be the foundation upon which a whole new generation of Grand Seiko mechanical watches will be created. Nine years in development and deploying all the skills and experience that Grand Seiko has gained over the past 60 years, 9SA5 is without doubt the finest mechanical caliber Grand Seiko has ever created.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SLGH003) watch

9SA5 has a precision rate of +5 to 3 seconds a day and a power reserve of 80 hours and yet is 15% slimmer than the current Grand Seiko high beat caliber. The precision, power and slimness of Caliber 9SA5 are the result of the radical re-design of three key structures, and components within them, for which several patents are either already granted.

1. The Dual Impulse Escapement

The escapement is entirely new and was developed inhouse. It enables the escapement wheel to transmit power directly to the balance, leading to a significant energy transfer efficiency increase. It is unique in that, in one direction, power is transmitted directly to the balance while, in the other direction, it is via the pallet fork, as in a traditional escapement. Both the pallet fork and the escapement wheel are made using MEMS technology.

2. The Grand Seiko Free-sprung Balance

9SA5 uses a new free-sprung balance, again developed especially for this caliber. It retains its precision for longer and is more resistant to shock and friction. While other 9S calibers uses a flat hairspring, 9SA5 uses an overcoil, whose curved shape was decided after more than 80,000 simulations, with the result that its performance is optimized in every possible position. Its unique design improves the isochronism.

3. The Horizontal Gear Train

The new caliber is 15% slimmer than the current Grand Seiko high beat caliber, thanks to the innovative horizontal layout of the barrel and gear trains. The movement finish is inspired by the rippling waves of the Shizukuishi River near the studio where the watch is made.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SLGH003) watch case back

The watch shares the same design as the first 9SA5 creation. Its powerful and distinctive look is true to the Grand Seiko Style that was defined back in 1967 with the celebrated 44GS but the hour hand has greater volume and the indexes are more prominent, just as they were, in fact, in the very first Grand Seiko of 1960. The dial is in Grand Seiko blue against which the red second hand provides a vivid accent.

Its stainless steel case measures 40mm diameter. The case has all the design hallmarks of Grand Seiko and is Zaratsu polished to perfection. With its wide lugs and with a generously sized bracelet, the watch offers perfect comfort and fits solidly on the wrist. The clasp carries Grand Seiko initials in 18k gold.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SLGH003) watch bracelet

Boasting a dial in a deep, shimmering blue, this new creation will be available in December in a limited edition of 1,000 at Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected retailers worldwide.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SBGR321)

Made in celebration of Grand Seiko’s 60th anniversary, this new limited edition watch draws inspiration from the nature that surrounds the two studios, in Shizukuishi and Shinshu, where all its timepieces are crafted.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SBGR321)

The dial of the new limited edition automatic watch recreates the brilliant blue sky over Mt. Iwate at dawn when it is tinged with the red of the morning sun. The blue of the dial is echoed in the vivid blue of the titanium sections of the oscillating weight and a red ring inside the sapphire crystal case back mirrors the glow of the morning sun as it rises and causes light to flood through the broad windows of the studio.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition (SBGR321) caseback

The blue of the oscillating weight is achieved through an anodic oxidation process in which metals are subjected to electrolysis so as to generate an oxide film. This oxide film produces color according to the light refraction index when the thickness of the oxide film is carried.

The watch is powered by Caliber 9S65 which delivers a power reserve of 72 hours and a precision rate of +5 to -3 seconds a day. It is assembled, adjusted and inspected by hand at the recently opened Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi.

This new watch is offered as limited edition of 2,500 and will be available worldwide in October, 2020.

Grand Seiko announces the opening of its new Studio in Shizukuishi and the establishment of its European subsidiary

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Grand Seiko is marking a new era with the opening of a new manufacturing Studio Shizukuishi and expanding its global operations by setting up a new subsidiary.

The Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi

In June 2020, an entirely new studio, dedicated to Grand Seiko, will open its doors alongside the existing facilities of Morioka Seiko Instruments. It will also house an exhibition space where visitors can learn about the ideas, collections and personalities that have made Grand Seiko over the past six decades.

The Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi

The new studio is an entirely new free-standing building of 1,975 square meters and is surrounded by trees, through which the slopes of Mt. Iwate can be seen. Throughout the studio, the importance of the facility’s natural surroundings as an inspiration for Grand Seiko is evident.

The studio was designed by master architect, Kengo Kuma who is known worldwide for designing buildings that respect the natural world. Of wooden construction, with its roof pointing towards Mt. Iwate, the studio allows visitors to feel the beauty of its natural surroundings even from inside and is in elegant harmony with the Grand Seiko philosophy, The Nature of Time.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch, Reference SLGH002: 18k Yellow Gold case and New Hi-Beat Caliber 9SA5

Celebrating its 60th Anniversary, Grand Seiko has created a new high beat mechanical caliber, 9SA5. An exclusive yellow gold watch offered in a limited edition of 100 pieces will be the first to be powered by this new caliber. It will be available at the Grand Seiko Boutiques in August 2020.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch, Reference SLGH002: 18k Yellow Gold case and New Hi-Beat Caliber 9SA5

In 1998, the creation of the 9S mechanical caliber opened a new chapter in the Grand Seiko story. The new 9SA5 is an entirely new movement and the foundation upon which a whole new generation of Grand Seiko mechanical watches will be created.

In developing the 9SA5 caliber, the Grand Seiko development team set out to deliver the same level of stable accuracy as that of their existing 36,000 vph movement but to deliver a longer power reserve and so makes the watch even more practical in everyday life. They succeeded in characteristically uncompromising style. Caliber 9SA5 has a precision rate of +5 to -3 seconds a day and a power reserve of 80 hours.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch, Reference SLGH002: 18k Yellow Gold case and New Hi-Beat Caliber 9SA5

The precision, power and slimness of Caliber 9SA5 are the result of the radical re-design of three key structures and some components within them for which several patents are either already granted or pending.

1. Dual Impulse Escapement

The escapement is entirely new and was developed in-house. It enables the escapement wheel to transmit power directly to the balance, leading to an efficiency increase. It is unique in that, in one direction, power is transmitted directly to the balance while in the other it is via the pallet fork, as in a traditional escapement. Both pallet fork and escapement wheel are made using MEMS technology.

2. Grand Seiko Free-sprung Balance

9SA5 uses a new and special free-sprung balance developed for this caliber. It retains its precision for longer and is more resistant to shock and friction. While the current Caliber 9S uses a flat hairspring, 9SA5 uses an overcoil, whose curve shape was decided after more than 80,000 simulations with the result that its performance is optimized in every possible position. The uniqueness is that it can improve the isochronism.

3. Horizontal Gear Train

The new caliber is 15% slimmer than the current Grand Seiko high beat caliber, thanks to the innovative horizontal layout of the barrel and gear trains.

In addition to these three new components, Caliber 9SA5 has other features that contribute to its extraordinary performance. Two barrels, arranged in sequence, enhance the power reserve, the date change is virtually instantaneous and the positioning of the winding stem close to the rotor allows the watch to sit closer to the wrist. The movement is as beautifully finished as it is efficient. The bridge has a gently curving outline that is inspired by the shapes of Mt. Iwate and a bend in the Shizukuishi River that runs near the studio where the watch is made.

Just as Caliber 9SA5 makes a significant and defining statement about the next stage of Grand Seiko’s technical development, the design also has a distinctive look that marks a new beginning. The watch is, of course, true to the Grand Seiko Style that was defined back in 1967 with the celebrated 44GS but it is subtly different in ways that are much more than cosmetic. This new design has all the hallmarks of Grand Seiko but also offers enhanced comfort and legibility.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Watch, Reference SLGH002: 18k Yellow Gold case and New Hi-Beat Caliber 9SA5

The slimness of the caliber does much to ensure that the watch can sit easily but it is combined with slightly wider lugs so that the watch also stays more solidly on the wrist. The already legendary legibility of Grand Seiko is further enhanced by the increased volume of the hour hand and by the hour markers that are more prominent, just as they were in the first Grand Seiko of 1960. The Grand Seiko logo, indexes and calendar frame are in 18k yellow gold.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Professional Diver’s 600M (With Spring Drive Caliber 9RA5)

Introduced in 1999, Spring Drive is one of horology’s greatest advances. It combines the best of both the existing two watch technologies (mechanical and electronic) in a watch powered by a mainspring that offered accuracy of one second a day. Now, two decades on, Grand Seiko introduces a new generation Spring Drive caliber that is slimmer, even more precise and has a greater power reserve. Caliber 9RA5 takes Spring Drive technology to a new level of excellence and opens a new era in the history of Grand Seiko.

In comparison to the 9R6 caliber that is the mainstay of the current collection, Caliber 9RA5 delivers a five-day power reserve, an increase of 60%. Its monthly precision rate has risen from ±15 seconds a month to ±10. The movement depth has been reduced from 5.8mm to 5.0mm and the speed of the date change has been greatly increased.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Professional Diver’s 600M (With Spring Drive Caliber 9RA5)

Caliber 9RA5’s thin profile is made possible by the re-design and re-positioning of the Magic Lever. Developed in-house in 1959, the Magic Lever boosts the efficiency of the automatic winding mechanism by using the energy created by movement of the oscillating weight in both directions. In the new caliber, the new Offset Magic Lever is positioned away from the center of the movement to reduce its thickness. Remarkably, this is achieved with no loss of winding efficiency. The stem and crown are also positioned towards the back of the case to lower the center of gravity and achieve a comfortable fit on the wrist.

Caliber 9RA5 may be slim but it has enhanced rigidity and shock resistance thanks to the new layout of the gear train towards the center of the movement and a central bridge that holds them together. This One-piece Center Bridge achieves a shock resistance that meets the ISO standard for diver’s watches.

The movement incorporates two barrels which deliver a power reserve of up to 120 hours. They are different sizes so as to deliver the torque required for the five day power reserve while optimizing the use of the limited space within the movement.

Caliber 9RA5 has an accuracy rate of ±10 seconds per month thanks to a new IC package and to the selection of highly stable quartz oscillators that have gone through a three-month aging process. For the first time in a Spring Drive movement, the IC incorporates a sensor to measure the temperature within the movement and is programmed to compensate for any inaccuracies in the crystal oscillation rate which may be caused by temperature change. The oscillator and sensor are vacuum-sealed into a single package to eliminate even the slightest temperature difference between the two and this shield also reduces the possible influence of humidity, static electricity or light interference and thus maintains the watch’s accuracy at the highest possible level.

As with every Spring Drive caliber, 9RA5’s seconds hand moves in perfect glide motion and, through it, expresses the natural and continuous flow of time that resonates so deeply with the Japanese sensibility. In its finishing, also, the movement has a beauty that is uniquely Japanese and is inspired by the natural environment of the studio where it is made. The jewels echo the glittering stars that sparkle especially brightly during the early days of winter in the surrounding mountains and the delicate texture of the movement’s surfaces reflect the frost that winter brings to the trees.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Professional Diver’s 600M (With Spring Drive Caliber 9RA5)

To demonstrate its power, strength and precision, the first creation to be powered by Caliber 9RA5 is a professional diver’s watch. It has helium and water resistance that meet the challenge of saturation diving at depths of up to 600 meters. The case is in high-intensity titanium, which is 40% lighter than steel and more impervious to scratches. The power reserve is at the 10 o’clock position and the indicator is divided into five parts to show exactly and clearly how many days of power are left. The case, crystal and bezel are all designed for easy and safe disassembly for the maintenance that a professional diver demands.

The watch is presented in a special Grand Seiko 60th anniversary box with an interchangeable blue silicone strap. It will be available worldwide in August as a limited edition of 700.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8 Days Jewelry Watch

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Grand Seiko expands its Masterpiece Collection by creating a platinum cased Spring Drive jewelry watch whose design takes inspiration from the winter mornings in Shinshu, the area where this and every Grand Seiko Spring Drive watch is made.

This remarkable timepiece has all the essential qualities that define Grand Seiko. It is high in legibility, extremely precise and striking in the serenity of its beauty. Diamonds act as minute markers and blue sapphires designate each hour so that the time can be read at a glance.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8 Days Jewelry Watch

It is powered by the Spring Drive 8 day Caliber 9R01 that delivers an accuracy rate of ±10 seconds a month and offers a power reserve of up to 192 hours or 8 days. In its elegant simplicity, it is perfectly designed for every occasion while its quietly dazzling dial marks it out as one of the most precious works of art yet created by Grand Seiko. It is offered in a limited edition of just 10 and will be presented in June 2020, at the Grand Seiko Boutiques.

Grand Seiko Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8 Days Jewelry Watch

Taking inspiration from the tiny ice crystals that shimmer on a cold, clear morning in the Shinshu region, the dial center has a “diamond dust” texture that creates a subtle sparkle and a unique beauty. Carefully selected and tapered baguette diamonds and blue sapphires surround the dial as minute and hour markers, set over an 18k white gold base. The arrangement of the diamonds and sapphires side by side around the entire dial requires great dexterity; the gems are set between a very thin pair of rails with great precision by the most skilled of the jewelry craftsmen and women at the Shinshu Watch Studio.

The diamonds and sapphires are placed exactly horizontally so that they catch the light evenly and the sapphire at twelve o’clock is slightly wider than others to ensure perfect legibility. Enhancing the beauty of the dial are 48 additional diamonds and 12 blue sapphires individually set around the markers. The case is made of Platinum 950 and is finished with a form of Zaratsu polishing that is specially adapted for working with platinum to create the brilliant look that defines Grand Seiko.

The watch is powered by the manual-winding 8-Day Spring Drive Caliber 9R01 made by hand by the elite team of watchmakers at the Micro Artist Studio which has its home in the Shinshu Watch Studio. The caliber incorporates three barrels arranged in sequence to deliver the extended power reserve. The exquisite finishing of the one-piece bridge, designed in the image of Mt. Fuji, and the rubies, which evoke the lights of Suwa city, can be seen through the case back.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Shizukuishi Inspired Models in Platinum and Rose Gold

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of its foundation, Grand Seiko has created two special edition timepieces that pay tribute to the natural beauty of Shizukuishi, the home of Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches.

The first model is a new platinum cased watch whose dial is hand engraved with symbols reflecting the legend associated with the name of Shizukuishi.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Shizukuishi Inspired Models

Legend has it that, about a thousand years ago, an old man who lived in what is now Shizukuishi started to hear a strange sound coming from deep underneath a huge old cedar tree. People traced its source to what seemed to be a bottomless cave and realized that the sound was that of water drops, “shizuku” in Japanese, dripping from the ceiling of the cave onto the rocks, “ishi,” and resonating throughout the cave and beyond. The area became known as Shizukuishi and it is this legend behind the name that provides the inspiration for the engraving on the dial and on the hands. The hands feature a water droplet motif along their full length and each hour marker carries the pattern of water splashing onto rock.

Master engraver Kiyoshi Terui and his small team engrave all the elements on the dial by hand. Their work covers not only the hands and indexes but also the Grand Seiko name and the star mark at the 6 o’clock position. The task is very challenging as both the plates on which the indexes and the minute track are engraved are curved. These plates and the dial itself are made of 18k white gold. The engraving of each watch requires many days of this intense and highly skilled work.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Shizukuishi Inspired Models

The engraving may be intricate but it is also powerful. Its straight lines accentuate the legibility of the time, making this watch true to the Grand Seiko aesthetic, while the whole watch has the soft, gently angular profile that is part of the Elegance Collection’s signature.

This unique timepiece is offered in a limited edition of 20 and will be available in July 2020 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques.

This second Shizukuishi-inspired watch features the same 9S64 manual-winding caliber but the case is in 18k rose gold and the dial has an intricate yet sharp pattern that only very precise machine engraving can achieve.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Shizukuishi Inspired Models

The dial pattern takes the imagination to the forest of white birch trees near the studio where the watch is made. As the viewing angle changes, the dial shimmers in green and white, just as do the trees when summer sunlight catches the leaves and the white bark of their trunks and dapples the forest floor. The soft, natural feel of the watch is completed by the slim profile of the case and the curved dial whose contours are followed exactly by the hands that are shaped by hand.

The watch is offered as a limited edition of 120 and will be available in July 2020 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques and Grand Seiko Salons worldwide.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Edition – Re-Creations of the First Grand Seiko Watch from 1960

In 2020, the upscale Japanese watch brand Grand Seiko is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its creation. On 18 December 1960, in Seiko’s Suwa facility in central Japan born a watch with a 14k gold filled case and a slim movement whose precision met the highest international standard of the time. Such was the level of their achievement that it was decided to call the watch Grand Seiko. Now, in this special year, a new re-creation of the first Grand Seiko watch from 1960 takes its permanent place in the collection.

The re-creation is presented in three versions, all with the same slim profile and high precision afforded by the use of the manual-winding caliber 9S64. The case shape and the softly curved dial and hands are entirely faithful to the 1960 original, but the case back is now in sapphire, revealing the beautiful finish of the movement. In line with today’s aesthetic, the case diameter has been increased from 35mm to 38mm and a three-fold clasp makes the watch easy to wear.

Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Edition - Re-Creations of the First Grand Seiko Watch from 1960

Three different materials are used. The case in the platinum version is in Platinum 950 and the dial carries the star mark that signifies that its hour markers are in 18k gold. The engraving of the Grand Seiko name on the dial is particularly sharp thanks to the fact that the dial, too, is in 18k gold.

The case of the second creation is in 18k yellow gold, as are the hour markers. The third case is in Brilliant Hard Titanium, which is exclusive to Grand Seiko. It is as light as pure titanium but twice as hard as stainless steel and therefore highly resistant to scratches. Its color is brighter than the other forms of titanium used for Grand Seiko and allows the Zaratsu polished surfaces to stand out even more prominently.

All three offer a remarkable blend of slimness, efficiency and precision. The cases are just 10.9mm in depth, the power reserve is 72 hours and the accuracy rate is +5 to -3 seconds per day. All three versions feature crocodile straps.

All three watches in the series will be available at Grand Seiko Boutiques from June 2020 onwards.

Both creations will be available in February 2020 as limited editions; 1,500 for the men’s watch and 300 for the women’s.

The 60th anniversary is also celebrated with a new quartz movement. Caliber 9F85 has a time difference adjustment function that allows the hour hand to be adjusted without stopping the seconds hand and thus preserving its high precision when the wearer changes time zones. This new caliber makes its debut in two 60th anniversary designs.

The first has a version of Caliber 9F85 that is specially adjusted to a level of accuracy of ±5 seconds a year. This high precision is marked by the five pointed star at the six o’clock position. The dial, too, has a unique marking with a 2020 pattern, reminding the wearer of this special year. The case design is modern in its execution. Its bezel is thin which allows the dial to be wider and therefore more legible. The case side has a sharp curve so that more light reflects off it and adds to the “sparkle of quality” that is an essential part of the Grand Seiko Style. The seconds hand of this timepiece is also in a vivid red. It will be available in March 2020 as a limited edition of 2,500.

The markers as well as the hour and minute hands are coated with LumiBrite so as to increase the legibility of the time even in low light conditions. It has 20 bar water resistance, magnetic resistance of 16,000 A/m and a screw-down crown for enhanced security. It will be available in April 2020 as a limited edition of 2,000.

Grand Seiko Godzilla 65th Anniversary Limited Edition

Introduced in 2019, this timepiece celebrates the anniversaries of both Spring Drive and Japan’s iconic monster, Godzilla.

In 2019, the 20th anniversary of Spring Drive was celebrated with a new design in Grand Seiko’s sport collection that showcases the watches’ capabilities to withstand the most demanding sport environment.

Godzilla made its debut in Japan in 1954 and it was in this first Godzilla film that the creature appears in Ginza, the birthplace of Seiko, and destroys the famous clock tower which rises above the Wako store, a retail establishment of Seiko’s that opened its doors at that location in 1952.

Grand Seiko Godzilla 65th Anniversary Limited Edition watch

The creature makes its fierce presence on the watch in a number of ways. Godzilla’s signature roar and the “heat ray beam” that it shoots from his mouth to strike his opponents are expressed in the rays of the red dial. The shark strap is applied black and red to re-create the tone and rough texture of the monster’s skin. Most notably, the strong angular case of the watch brings to life the magnitude of Godzilla.

The watch carries Spring Drive Caliber 9R15 and has high shock and temperature resistance. It is also specially adjusted to have an enhanced precision of 0.5 second a day. The design of the hands as well as the Lumibrite on the hands, hour markers and bezel, and the high definition dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating all allow for enhanced legibility making it the perfect watch for any sports situation. Thanks to the curve of the lugs and the low center of gravity of the case the watch sits comfortably on any wrist.

The see-through case back is stamped with the scene where Godzilla destroys the iconic clock tower that had long been the symbol of the area and still stands today at the main intersection of the Ginza district. Its design pays homage to the Grand Seiko lion and is illustrated by Shinji Higuchi, co-director and special effects director for the movie “Shin Godzilla” (2016).

The watch is available as a limited edition of just 650 pieces from November, 2019 at selected Grand Seiko and Seiko boutiques and selected retail partners across the world.

About Godzilla
Godzilla first appeared in Toho’s “Godzilla” (1954), a classic monster movie widely regarded as a masterpiece that launched a monster franchise expanding over 64 years with more than 30 films. The character has been adapted via numerous international motion pictures, re-introducing the character to a new generation and a global audience. Godzilla continues to stomp through popular culture with “Godzilla: King of the Monster,” released on May 2019, and “Godzilla vs Kong” in 2020.

Grand Seiko Elegance Collection, Automatic Watches for Women (STGK011 and STGK013)

Grand Seiko expands their mechanical collection for women by presenting a new series in the Elegance collection. The new automatic watches combine their slim profile with the powerful performance of the new Caliber 9S27.

The long, flowing lines of this exquisite new case are seamless and the surfaces distortion-free so that the watch has a curved, organic feeling, as if it were hewn from nature itself. The bezel-free case and the domed sapphire crystal create a delicate arc that follows the shape of the wrist and two lines of diamonds frame the dial and follow the contour of the watch. The effect is both subtle and yet striking. The diamonds sparkle at every movement but leave the beauty of the dial to speak for itself.

The two new watches in this series are unmistakably Grand Seiko. Their design respects the heritage that was born in 1967 with the classic 62GS with its bezel-free construction, sharply angled hands and markers and highly polished surfaces. The new design combines the strong, distinctive look of one of Grand Seiko’s seminal creations with a fresh, soft and feminine grace.

There is a warm and uniquely Japanese elegance to the dials that derives from the combination of the two diagonally positioned diamonds at 12 o’clock, the tactile texture of the dial surface and the leaf shaped hour markers which, like the tapered hour and minute hands, are polished to ensure both their beauty and their legibility.

One dial has a delicate silver-colored pattern while the second has a mother-of-pearl dial with a deep purple color known as ”Koki-murasaki” which has been a symbol of status since the early days of ancient Japan. Thanks to the dial’s texture and this deep color, it seems to be ever changing.

The refinement of the case is most evident when seen from the side. The diamonds are perfectly aligned along the Zaratsu polished surface which has the perfect, distortion-free finish that only this handcraft technique can deliver. While soft to the touch, every edge is sharp to the eye and catches the light in a way that is in sparkling harmony with the line of diamonds.

The Grand Seiko automatic caliber 9S27 strikes that difficult and delicate balance between high performance and slimness that only a true manufacture can achieve. It has a precision rate of +8 to −3 seconds a day and a power reserve of 50 hours. These high levels of performance are delivered by an 8 beat movement that is just 19.4mm in diameter and 4.49mm in height.

Both watches in this new series form part of the Elegance collection and will be available from October at Grand Seiko Boutiques, selected Seiko Boutiques and other retail partners worldwide.

Grand Seiko Heritage Collection, Twenty-Four Seasons

Unveiling the deep sensibilities, appreciation and reverence for Japan’s seasons, Grand Seiko introduces four timepieces to the Heritage Collection with a reinterpretation of the symbolic 62GS design.

Grand Seiko’s new timepieces pay tribute to Japan’s ever-changing nature, with each timepiece reflecting the grandeur expression of design and movement. The collection honors the traditional Japanese calendar with not four, but twenty-four seasons, referred to as “Sekki.” From Risshun (beginning of spring) in early February to Daikan (greater cold) in late January, the Twenty-Four Seasons of Japan celebrates the passage of time as a poetic journey, as nature awakens, blossoms, matures and slowly slumbers.

Grand Seiko pays tribute to its iconic 62GS – the revolutionary first self-winding timepiece launched in 1967. The 62GS pushed the boundaries of industry benchmarks in precision and accuracy. The signature design features a mirrored, multi-sided case and a wide dial opening, achieved with a bezel-free construction and Grand Seiko’s unique “Zaratsu” polishing. Pure, refined and noble, the 62GS is a treasured classic.

The four models feature two emblematic calibers of Grand Seiko. Each is assembled and adjusted by hand by acclaimed Grand Seiko craftsmen and women.

Spring and Winter are assembled at the Shinshu Watch Studio. The 9S85 caliber uses sophisticated modern technology coupled with the skilled hand of a master craftsman for the finest adjustments and highest precision possible, highlighting the seamless passage of time with a Spring Drive movement.

Summer and Autumn are assembled at the Shizuku-ishi Studio. The 9S85 caliber uses sophisticated modern technology applying innovations to the precision controlling mainspring, the hairspring, and the escapement. Together the movement showcases the pure power and dynamism of the Mechanical Hi-Beat 36,000.

The Details of Twenty-Four Seasons

Spring
The subtle pink dial of the Spring model epitomizes the graceful Sakura season as blossoms waltz on water like glorious “Hanaikada – Rafts of Blossoms.” Starting with the beginning of spring (Risshun),the first of the lunar year, the season comes to life when the snow gives way to rain(Usui), and creatures awaken from hibernation(Keichitsui). As day equals night (Shunbun), the pure sky and renewal of nature come into existence (Seimei).

Introduced in 1969, the Skyline 2000 GT-R was the first in this celebrated series. Since then, the GT-R has earned its place in sports car history as setting the absolute standard in performance and has continuously showcased NISSAN’s passion for, and mastery of, car making. Since its birth in 1960, Grand Seiko has also set the very highest standards in the essentials of watchmaking, accuracy, durability and legibility, thanks to the skills and experience of its Japanese watchmakers and craftsmen. The unique Spring Drive technology was launched 20 years ago this year.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive 20th & NISSAN GT-R 50th Anniversary Limited Edition

The NISSAN GT-R 50th Anniversary model pays homage to the race-car version of the Skyline 2000 GT-R, and is available until the end of March 2020. The watch design takes inspiration from the GT-R’s iconic blue color, known to car enthusiasts as “Bayside blue”, which is reflected in the blue of the ceramic outer case. This ceramic and the inner case made by light high-intensity titanium protect the watch from scratches while fitting comfortably on the wrist and delivers 10 bar water resistance.

The NISSAN racing livery with its distinctive white stripe is reflected in the white crocodile strap and the silver white color of the dial, creating a perfect aesthetic harmony with the blue of its ceramic case.

Grand Seiko Elegance Collection

Grand Seiko announces a new slim design in the Elegance Collection. The combination of a new case, a new manual-winding caliber with a small seconds hand and Urushi lacquer has made possible the creation of a watch that offers a new graceful refinement as well as Grand Seiko’s uniquely Japanese aesthetic.

Caliber 9S63 is a significant addition to the ever growing Grand Seiko family of movements. It has been eight years since the last manual-winding mechanical caliber in Grand Seiko and it has been worth the wait. Caliber 9S63 offers a small seconds hand at the nine o’clock position and a power reserve indicator at three o’clock. While these sub-dials are easy to read, they are also discreetly unobtrusive and allow the eye to enjoy the beauty of the Urushi lacquer of which the dial is made. Caliber 9S63 has a power reserve of 72- hours and delivers an accuracy rate of +5 to -3 seconds a day.

In the new Urushi dialed creation, which is available in two versions, two traditions of Japanese craftsmanship are merged together. The pure, understated and subtle design aesthetic of Grand Seiko is evident in every detail, as is the skill and care taken by the watchmakers at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio where the watch is made. The cases are polished by a special Zaratsu method created to accentuate the beauty of the curved surfaces. The dials and the sapphire crystals are also curved to give the watches a classic look. The minute and power reserve indicator hands are bent so that they follow exactly the domed contour of the dials.

The dials also showcase a second form of Japanese craftsmanship, Urushi lacquer. The amber color dial is made from a transparent and long lasting Urushi that comes from trees grown in and around the town of Joboji that lies under Mt. Iwate, the mountain that dominates the skyline above the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. Through the amber colored “Suki-urushi” lacquer can be seen the subtle Mt. Iwate pattern that reveals the watchmakers’ pride in the natural beauty that surrounds their home. The black dial uses the same lacquer mixed with iron to give it its distinctive deep jet black color.

On both creations, the hour markers and the “GS” letters are decorated with the traditional Maki-e technique by Urushi master Isshu Tamura in his studio in Kanazawa on the west coast of Japan’s main island. Through the application of layer after layer of lacquer, these markers are given a three dimensional profile and a delicate yet strong presence on the dial.

Tamura then applies the powder, either 24k gold or platinum, and polishes them by hand using his own special tools to give Maki-e its delicately shimmering appearance. These processes require great dexterity as it is very challenging to give every marker the same depth, especially on a curved surface. The minute and power reserve indicator hands are bent by hand to follow perfectly the domed contour of the dial.

Initially, this new design series consists of three limited editions. The two Urushi dial executions are in 18k rose gold cases and are editions of just 150 while the third, with its blue Mt. Iwate pattern dial, is in stainless steel and is an edition of 1,500. All three are available from March, 2019. In addition, a fourth creation, with an 18k yellow gold case, will be added to the permanent Grand Seiko collection in July. This series will be available at Grand Seiko and Seiko Boutiques and selected retail partners worldwide.

Grand Seiko New Automatic Watches for Women (With New Automatic Caliber 9S27)

At Baselworld 2018, Grand Seiko presented a limited edition featuring a new automatic caliber, 9S25, which was specifically designed for women’s watches. This year, Grand Seiko announces another new caliber, 9S27, and a series of five exquisite timepieces for women.

The new Grand Seiko automatic caliber 9S27 strikes that difficult and delicate balance between high performance and slimness that only a true “manufacture” can achieve. Its performance is outstanding, with a precision rate of +8 to−3 seconds a day and a power reserve of 50 hours. These high levels of performance are delivered by an 8 beat movement that is just 19.4mm in diameter and 4.49mm in height, which allows the case to fit every wrist and each timepiece to have an elegantly slim profile.

Each movement is made, assembled and adjusted by hand in the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in northern Japan and is made possible by the same high level of “manufacture” craftsmanship as goes into every other Grand Seiko mechanical watch. The latest Spron 610 alloy is used for the balance spring, the pallet fork and escapement wheel are made by MEMS engineering and each watch is put through a rigorous 17 day testing procedure.

The series comprises five watches, with two in stainless steel and three in 18k gold. The two steel versions, both with a diameter of 27.8mm, demonstrate Grand Seiko at its finest.

The cases are Zaratsu polished to give them the sparkle of quality that is the Grand Seiko signature, the seconds hand is made of steel that is “blued” by hand and the other two hands have a central hairline stripe and are razor-edged to ensure that they catch even the slightest ray of light and are easy to see. One version has a champagne silver dial with a subtle pattern inspired by the weave of linen and the other has a mother-of-pearl dial with diamond-cut hour markers.

Each of the three gold case executions, with a diameter of 28.7mm, is in a different shade, white, yellow and rose. 42 diamonds are set into each bezel and 12 into each mother-of-pearl dial. One more and larger diamond is set into the crown.
