Grand Seiko presents a new Spring Drive 8-Day Jewelry Watch (reference SBGD213) from its Masterpiece collection.

Adorned with diamonds and blue sapphires, this platinum wristwatch with a blue mother of pearl dial evokes the powerful yet elegant nature of the white lion. The case and dial have 5.62 carats of diamonds and 1.25 carats of blue sapphires, all set by hand.

The lion symbol has been closely associated with the Japanese’s premium watch label since its launch. Introduced in 1960, the first Grand Seiko watch came with a gold medallion depicting a lion graced the case back.

In 2022, Grand Seiko introduced a Spring Drive jewelry watch (SBGD209) inspired by the white lion. Now the brand is offering a novelty Spring Drive model that reflects the strength and power of this majestic creature.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive Jewelry Watch, Reference SBGD213

A new addition to the Masterpiece collection, Grand Seiko SBGD213 comes with a 44.5mm diameter case in platinum. Adorned with sparkling diamonds, the case has strong and angular lugs denoting the power of the lion. The upper surfaces of the case feature 112 diamonds and 60 baguette-cut diamonds adorn the bezel. A single brilliant-cut blue sapphire is set into the crown.

The mother of pearl dial has a distinct blue shade, representing Grand Seiko’s signature color. Surrounding this dial, the tapered blue sapphires and baguette diamonds serve as hour and minute markers.

Forty-eight additional diamonds and 12 blue sapphires are individually set around the markers, enhancing the depth and beauty of the dial. The grey colored seconds hand matches the overall tone.

Finished with a special Zaratsu polishing technique specially developed for Platinum 950, the case spotlights a distortion-free mirror finish. This new model comes with a black alligator leather strap.

The Grand Seiko SBGD213 watch houses the Caliber 9R01, a manual-winding Spring Drive movement. It is accurate to ±10 seconds per month and offers a power reserve of eight days, thanks to its three barrels arranged in sequence. The sapphire crystal case back reveals the exquisite finishing of the movement’s one-piece bridge, designed in the image of Mt. Fuji.

Proposed in a limited edition of just eight pieces, this new Grand Seiko masterpiece jewellery watch will be presented at select Grand Seiko Boutiques in June 2023.

Grand Seiko presents a new manual-winding Spring Drive watch with a fully engraved platinum case and a beautiful white birch dial. Limited to 50 pieces, this new timepiece (reference SBGZ009) from the Grand Seiko masterpiece collection is a bona fide product from the Micro Artist Studio.

Based in Shiojiri in the Shinshu region of Japan, the Micro Artist Studio makes exclusive Spring Drive watches for Grand Seiko. The highly skilled craftsmen and women of this luxury watch atelier handcraft timepieces embodying the beauty of the local surroundings and seasons.

Grand Seiko SBGZ009 is the latest product from this prestigious high horology workshop. It boasts a stunning dial with textures inspired by the expansive forest of white birch trees found at the foot of the North Yatsugatake Mountains in the eastern part of Shinshu.

The silver color dial with its texture evokes white birch forest as it appears during the height of winter, covered by freshly fallen snow.

Made of 14k white gold, the hour and minute hands, as well as each of the hand-applied diamond-cut markers boast a sharp and gleaming finish. The minute track, the lettering and the mark at six o’clock are all carved into the dial. The tempered seconds hand has a harmonious grey dial.

The star mark at six o’clock denotes solid gold hour markers, a Grand Seiko tradition since the 1960s. The minute and seconds hands are shaped by hand to curve gently towards the minute track, ensuring high legibility.

Engraved Platinum Case

The 38.5mm diameter case in Platinum 950 perfectly harmonizes with the much admired Shinshu white birch pattern dial. Fully engraved, it spotlights a distortion-free mirror surface achieved through the Zaratsu polishing technique.

The long individual grooves of the case are painstakingly hand-engraved by the skilled engravers of the Shinshu Watch Studio, which is in the same facility as the Micro Artist Studio. Each groove brings to life the array of white birch trees in a pattern that seamlessly echoes a similar pattern found on the dial.

Grand Seiko Spring Drive Caliber 9R02

The Grand Seiko SBGZ009 White Birch watch houses the manual winding Spring Drive Caliber 9R02. Introduced in 2019, this movement comes with Dual Spring Barrel and Torque Return System. It also offers an outstanding 84-hour power reserve.

Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back, Caliber 9R02 demonstrates the exquisite craftsmanship that is the hallmark of the Micro Artist Studio.

Its barrel has a decoration echoing the bellflower, the symbol of Shiojiri. The two hand-finished bridges with high-polished edges contrast the fine hairline finishing of their other visible surfaces. An 18k gold plaque set on the lower bridge is engraved with the words “Micro Artist,” but if the owner wishes, this plaque can be customized.

Grand Seiko SBGZ009 is only the third fully engraved masterpiece powered by a manual-winding Spring Drive movement. It will be available as a limited edition of 50 pieces at the Grand Seiko Boutiques in June 2023.

Celebrating the 110th anniversary of Japan’s first wristwatch, Seiko Watch Corporation presents a re-creation of the first Grand Seiko watch. The new Grand Seiko SBGW295 model features a Brilliant Hard Titanium case and a black urushi lacquer dial with gold maki-e hour markers.

Founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, Seiko produced Japan’s first wristwatch, the Laurel, in 1913. The first Grand Seiko watch was launched in 1960. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the Laurel, a milestone celebrated with the release of a series of commemorative timepieces including this new Grand Seiko limited edition.

Grand Seiko SBGW295: With Urushi Lacquer Dial and Brilliant Hard Titanium Case

The Urushi lacquer for the dial was sourced exclusively from the country of Japan. The jet-black color of the urushi in this watch’s dial was achieved through the addition of iron. The lacquer is further enhanced through a special treatment unique to Grand Seiko that prevents its color from changing over time.

The maki-e hour markers were brought to life by urushi master Isshu Tamura in his studio in the city of Kanazawa, located on the West Coast of Japan. The seconds and minute hands are gently curved down towards the dial by hand to enhance legibility.

Measuring 38mm diameter, the Brilliant Hard Titanium case boasts radiant Zaratsu-polished surfaces. Visible through the sapphire crystal case-back is the manually wound Caliber 9S64, which allows for the slim profile and accuracy to +5 to -3 seconds per day.

The Re-creation of the first Grand Seiko (reference SBGW295) will be provided with two leather straps. The first incorporates a traditional Japanese weaving technique called yoroiori that was once used for making samurai armour. Thin strips of calf leather and fabric are interlaced by a skilled artisan to enhance the watch strap’s durability. The second strap is leather sourced for its softness, unique texture, and comfort.

The Grand Seiko SBGW295 watch will be available as a limited edition of 500 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide in February 2023.

Japanese premium watch brand Grand Seiko celebrates the 25th anniversary of the iconic Caliber 9S with two special limited editions. The Grand Seiko 9S 25th Anniversary watches feature beautiful pattern dials inspired by the sky over Mt. Iwate.

Launched in 1998, Caliber 9S heralded a new era for the brand’s mechanical watchmaking. In the same year, the world-renowned Grand Seiko Standard was re-defined.

Since then, the Caliber 9S has been developed into a number of movement variations with different functions. Moreover, this series has been enriched with new alloys for both the main and balance springs and MEMS engineering, which allows key components to be manufactured to a tolerance of one-thousandth of a millimeter.

Grand Seiko Caliber 9S 25th Anniversary Watches

The 25th anniversary models feature the same case design and diameter as the first watch that housed the 9S movement in 1998.

Grand Seiko SBGH311

The first model (reference SBGH311) in the commemorative edition boasts a silver dial whose texture and color evoke the sight of the sea of clouds that cover Mt. Iwate in Iwate Prefecture, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are manufactured.

Visible through sapphire crystal case back, the Grand Seiko emblem is set into the titanium oscillating weight whose color was created especially for this watch to suggest the deep-blue sky above the sea of clouds that so often surround Mt. Iwate’s peak. This color is made possible by an anodic oxidation process.

Inside 37mm diameter stainless steel case beats the Hi-Beat 36000 automatic mechanical Caliber 9S85, hand-assembled in the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. It has an accuracy rate of +5 ~ -3 seconds per day and delivers a power reserve of 55 hours.

The Grand Seiko reference SBGH311 is a limited edition of 1,200. It will initially be exclusive to Grand Seiko Boutique Online, starting in January 2023, and then will be available at the Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide in February 2023.

Grand Seiko SBGR325

The second model (reference SBGR325) in the series has a blue dial, expressing the clear and broad sky seen from the top of Mt. Iwate. Its remarkable sunray finish reflects light from every angle, creating a stunning azure backdrop for the diamond-cut hour and minute hands and indexes.

Just like the watch with the silver-colored dial, the seconds hand is tempered in blue and the dial features the Grand Seiko logo in a gold color commemorating the 9S movement.

The signature Grand Seiko blue color is realized on the oscillating weight by the same anodic oxidation process and can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal case back.

The Grand Seiko SBGR325 watch houses the GS Caliber 9S65, which has a mean daily rate of +5 ~ -3 seconds per day and a 3-day power reserve. This reference will be available as a limited edition of 1,200 at the Grand Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide in April 2023.

Grand Seiko has launched a limited edition spring drive watch (reference SBGY009) to celebrate the 55th anniversary of this iconic 44GS, the first timepiece to embody the “Grand Seiko Style” design code.

The 44GS 55th Anniversary Limited Edition comes with a deep blue dial inspired by the beautiful full moon in the night sky above the Shinshu Mountains. This captivating view is visible from the Shinshu studio where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are created.

The sunray pattern on the dial catches the light at every angle and recreates the gentle sparkle that the moon casts over the landscape when it is at its very highest point in the sky. Inspired by the brightness of the full moon, the Spring Drive’s signature glide motion seconds hand and the GS letters are gold in color.

The minute and seconds hands are shaped by hand so that they curve gently down towards the minute track at the edge of the dial, enhancing the legibility of the exact time.

Beating inside, the manual-winding Spring Drive Caliber 9R31 incorporates an innovative Dual-Spring Barrel that contains two mainsprings set in parallel and so delivers a power reserve of 72 hours.

Grand Seiko has expanded its Heritage collection by launching a limited edition model (reference SBGP017) commemorating the 55th anniversary of the iconic 44GS watch.

Introduced in 1967, 44GS was the first watch to embody the design code known as the Grand Seiko Style. Now, as part of the year-long celebration of the 55th anniversary of the 44GS, the brand presents a quartz watch that embodies the spirit of this icon.

This limited edition stainless steel watch features a remarkable light blue color dial boasting the texture of the sea of clouds that form around the mountains on some mornings in the Shinshu region where this and all Grand Seiko quartz watches are made.

Grand Seiko SBGP017 houses a specially enhanced version of Caliber 9F85 that is accurate to +5 to -5 seconds a year. The five-pointed star at the six o’clock position on the dial stands for the watch’s high accuracy.

It also has a time difference adjustment function that allows the hour hand to be moved without stopping the seconds hand, thus preserving its high precision when the wearer changes time zones. A backlash auto-adjust mechanism eliminates any shudder in the seconds hand. The date changes in the blink of an eye. A twin-pulse control system allows the minute and seconds hands to extend right to the edge of the dial so that the exact time can be read with ease.

The 40mm diameter case in steel offers the combination of Zaratsu polished and hairline finished surfaces. The fine finish of the movement with its tempered blue screws is visible through the sapphire case back.
