Swiss watch brand Formex presents the new Essence Space Rock Automatic Chronometer Limited Edition timepieces with extraterrestrial dials crafted from the Muonionalusta Meteorite. Based upon the popular Essence ThirtyNine and Essence Leggera FortyOne, the new Formex Space Rock watches encapsulate the history of our solar system.

These timepieces are available with either a 39mm stainless steel case or with an all-black 41mm case made from ultra-lightweight carbon fiber and ceramic. Both watches are individually numbered and limited to just 88 pieces each.

Both versions comes with the same detailed hand-finishing as the original Essence model, with an officially COSC-certified mechanical Swiss caliber. They also feature Formex’s patented Case Suspension System, which allows the watches to be more comfortable on the wrist.

The new Formex Essence Space Rock Limited Edition watches are available in two versions. The first choice is the 39mm Essence ThirtyNine with a 316L stainless steel case. The second choice is the 40% lighter Essence Leggera FortyOne, which features a 41mm carbon fiber composite case with a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel and crown.

Formex introduced the larger 43mm versions with meteorite dials back in April 2020. They were limited to 50 pieces and sold out within just a few days. These smaller case sizes are Formex’s best-sellers and they are explicitly intended to be unisex watches.

Applied indices with mirror-polished bevels are deep-filled with brightly glowing Super-LumiNova® BGW9 and provide maximum legibility, regardless of whether it is day or night.

The Formex Essence Space Rock Limited Edition watches are equipped with a Swiss Made, COSC-Certified Chronometer Sellita SW200-1 self-winding movement with an extended power reserve of approximately 41 hours.

This highest quality “Chronometer” grade calibre comes with a Glucydur balance wheel. This essential component is exceptionally hard and stable, in addition to being highly resistant to deformation, non-magnetic, and also non-corrosive.

The fully-decorated automatic movement features thermally blued screws and a custom-built skeletonized rotor. Each one of these movements is independently certified by the COSC (the official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute).

Patented Case Suspension System

Both versions of the Space Rock Limited Edition feature Formex’s patented Case Suspension System and a deployant clasp made from lightweight carbon fiber. Its unique gradual fine-adjustment system is capable of perfectly adapting to the ever-changing size of a person’s wrist due to factors such as heat and humidity.

All straps, including the optional stainless steel bracelet, can be changed within seconds and without the use of any tools by using their built-in quick release systems.

Swiss watch brand Formex unveils new variants of its best-selling Essence Leggera Collection. Crafted from lightweight carbon and ceramic, the Essence Leggera is light in weight, but heavy in technical features.

The collection is available in the original 43mm size, and on popular demand, in a new, smaller and even lighter 41mm version.

The Leggera Chronometer collection is available (43mm pre-order with delivery end of May / 41mm pre-order with delivery beginning of July 2022) in five dial versions – Forged Carbon, Cool Grey, Electric Blue, Arctic White and Mamba Green, starting at US$ 1,640.00.

The Essence Leggera watch is extremely light, but thanks to the high-tech materials used, it is also strong, hypoallergenic, anti-magnetic and corrosion-resistant.

In addition to reducing the weight by about 40% compared to the steel version, the proprietary carbon fiber composite used in the Leggera’s case gives the watch an extremely smooth feel on the wrist. Made of same material, the folding clasp features a patented, gradual fine-adjustment system that perfectly adapts to the wrist’s ever-changing size due to heat and humidity.

The case of a watch protects the movement, but it has a few vulnerable points – the crown and bezel, for example. With a hardness that surpasses that of any traditional metal used in traditional watchmaking, Formex utilizes Zirconium oxide ceramics on both the bezel and the crown, making them virtually scratchproof.

Four hexagon screws connect the upper and lower case, and hide Formex’s patented 4-fold Case Suspension System, which adapts to the wearer’s movement and increases the comfort on the wrist.

The Swiss Made Sellita SW-200 automatic movement ensures both accuracy and reliability. It comes in its highest quality grade ”Chronometer”, using top of the line components only found in Chronometer-grade movements. It’s beautifully decorated with perlage on the bridges and thermally blued screws on the movement and the custom-made rotor.

Each of the movements undergoes the COSC-certification process, a meticulous 15-day rate test to ensure extraordinary levels of mechanical accuracy and precision. Formex presents Field Automatic, a new entry level watch collection from the Swiss brand. The 41mm case and crown are made entirely from titanium grade 2. A special hardening treatment increases the Field’s surface hardness from 145 Vickers to approximately 900 Vickers while retaining the light weight, comfort and hypoallergenic properties of titanium.

Since Formex’s new ownership in 2016, the Swiss brand has stepped into the field of premium watches with collections such as the Essence and REEF that are priced above the $1k mark. While those offer COSC-certified movements and multiple patented features, the Formex collection lacked a solid, accessible field watch.

The new collection is Formex’s take of a modern field watch. Rather than just ticking boxes, the Formex Field uses the sturdiest of available materials and a colorful selection of highly legible dials. Case and crown are entirely made of titanium grade 2, a material that is stronger and lighter than stainless steel. Titanium is also extremely hypoallergenic, anti-magnetic and corrosion-resistant. On top of that, a special hardening treatment makes it scratch- and fingerprint resistant.

One of the main features of a field watch is its high contrast dial. Formex offers six different color options that are inspired by vintage machinery; Charcoal, Petrol Blue, Ash Grey, Mahogany Red, Ultra Violet and Sage Green. The numbers and markers are recessed, while the outer chapter section is curved upwards. This gives each dial a visible depth and enhances its legibility. The recessed surfaces and the brushed hands are filled with old radium (100% safe) Super LumiNova that emits a bright yellowish-green at night.

Adding a mere 5g to the case weight of 65g, the nylon velcro straps, available in blue and black, are waterproof and sit comfortably on the wrist. The leather straps, available in five different colors, come with Formex’s carbon composite clasp that adjusts to the ever-changing wrist circumference throughout the day. The built in fine-adjustment system allows to fit the length of the strap in 5 micro steps over 7mm.

The clasp is interchangeable with all leather straps. All straps can be changed without the use of any tools and the Field’s case does allow to mount 3rd party straps with a width of 20mm.

Each Formex Field watch is equipped with a Sellita SW200-1 self-winding movement. It provides a power reserve of 38 hours. Made of titanium, the case back comes with an engraved honey-comb pattern.

Fitted with a dive-watch style screw down crown, the Formex Field Automatic watch offers a water resistance of 150 meters.

Formex unveils the new Essence FortyThree Automatic Chronometer watch. Rather than just a dial makeover, the new Essence FortyThree comes with several updates and new dial options.

One of the Essence’s most defining features is the dial with its vertical brush finish and the distinctive horizontal lines. To achieve the crisp and sharp angles, each line has been CNC-machined into the dial base individually. The new Essence 43 mm now also features the updated Formex branding with an applied logo and a date wheel that matches the dial color.

The green dial and a matching green leather strap are now available for the 43 mm version, after it’s been initially introduced with the smaller Essence ThirtyNine model. A new white dial is also available for both Essence sizes. Zooming in on its matt surface will reveal that the applied indices and hands are in polished black to mark a clear contrast and increase its overall legibility.

While the original Essence leather- and rubber straps came with a double-action-butterfly clasp, the updated version now includes a single-action-deployant clasp that hides the over-length of the strap on the inside, making strap keepers redundant.

The clasp that is made of an in-house developed ultra-lightweight carbon fiber composite with a steel buckle features a patented gradual Fine-Adjustment System of 7mm which can be activated while wearing the watch on the wrist. The clasp and straps are interchangeable and removable without the use of any tools.

The highly articulated steel bracelet with screwed links and mirror polished chamfers has been updated with Formex’s new logo. Although the butterfly buckle is integrated into the bracelet and feels seamless to the touch, it hides a unique Micro-Extension System that allows to extend the length of the bracelet be just about half a link. Similar to the leather- and rubber straps, the Essence steel bracelet can be removed without the use of any tools.
