DELMA Shell Star Titanium 41mm Limited Edition

Swiss watch brand DELMA presents a new sleeker and lighter version of its Shell Star diving watch. The DELMA Shell Star Titanium 41mm is a compact, robust and light weight timepiece that proudly reflects the company’s excellence and innovation in divers’ watches.

Introduced in 1975, Shell Star was the first professional divers’ watch from DELMA. Titanium is known for its natural tenacity and corrosion resistance. Made of this innovative material, the new Shell Star watch weighs only 136 grams. Measuring 41mm in diameter and just 13.6mm thick, this compact timepiece is exceptionally comfortable and enjoyable to wear.

This watch employs two types of luminous: bright blue glowing Super-LumiNova BGW9 for the bezel markers, and neon green glowing Super-LumiNova C3 for the indexes and hands. The signature spade seconds hand comes with a subtly enlarged luminous pointer.

The black scratch resistant ceramic bezel brings an additional element of durability and creates a dramatic visual effect in combination with sand textured black, blue or orange dials.

The colors of the signature railway track, date window and accents were purposefully considered for each variation.

Driven by the SW200-1 automatic movement, this Swiss made diving watch displays the time with three centrally positioned hands and the date via the window at 3 o’clock. The power reserve of this 26 jewel movement is approximately 38 hours.

With water-resistance to 50 atm, the titanium case back is sealed with a transparent sapphire crystal glass revealing the automatic movement and DELMA customized rotor.

The case and coordinating bracelet feature subtly brushed finish to accentuate the metal’s distinctive warm grey tone.

The DELMA Shell Star Titanium is limited to 499 pieces. Its retail price is CHF 1590 (EUR 1790 / USD 1890).

DELMA Quattro

Swiss watch brand DELMA presents Quattro, a limited edition decompression divers’ watch with a water resistance of 500 meters.

Dedicated to professional divers, this robust tool watch has a unique symmetrical stainless-steel case which subtly integrates the helium escape valve and protects the hidden screw down crown from potential impact.

The unidirectional diving bezel in stainless-steel or black DLC is empowered with six bold notches for easy grip while enhancing the Quattro’s distinctive symmetry.

This timepiece comes with DELMA’s specialized Rapid Bracelet Exchange System (RBES) that enables the case to perform in 3 distinct forms. The bracelet and rubber strap can be quickly interchanged without the need for any tools. Likewise, the watch can be effortlessly fixed onto a custom designed decompression plate in a matter of seconds.

To release the watch, one simply pulls up the lever and turns the case clockwise by one hour, moving the lever from 8 to 9 o’clock. To attach it, the lever is positioned at 9 o’clock and the watch is turned counterclockwise while pressing it down gently until it clicks in. The DELMA RBES is based on the bayonet mount mechanism which is easy and safe to operate in all conditions.

The crown possesses a special notch so it can be simply unscrewed with its bespoke tool, a coin or by hand by removing the watch head.

The aluminum decompression plate allows the watch to be directly connected with the essential data based on the research of Swiss dive pioneers Hannes Keller and Albert Bühlmann.

The plate outlines two sets of data– one for diving in the mountains 700masl and higher and one below 700masl. The decompression plate can safely be attached to oxygen tanks or other gear through its spring snap hook.

The minute and lollipop seconds hands are emphasized with orange while the hour hand is defined in white. The hands, matching round hour markers on the dial and quarter-hour markers on the bezel, are all treated with Super Luminova C5.

The original DELMA Quattro watch was launched in the early 80’s with a quartz movement. Limited to 999 pieces, the new edition houses the automatic SW200-1 movement.

The Quattro is available with a black, blue or orange dial and with a stainless-steel or black DLC bezel ring. The brushed stainless-steel bracelet has a deployant clasp with pushers while the rubber strap features a stainless-steel buckle.

The DELMA Quattro watch is accompanied by a blue leather travel case and a special box to store the watch, strap, and the decompression plate.

The DELMA Montego chronograph is now available with blue, green, black, or white dial. In the dark, the hands glow in blue while the indices are illuminated in green yielding distinctive legibility and a unique flair.

Delma Cayman Bronze

Launched in 2019, the Cayman collection pays homage to the sea with inspiration from DELMA’s divers’ watches of the 1970s.

Like the original DELMA skin divers, the Cayman possesses a smaller case in comparison to professional divers’ watches, with a focus on comfort and style.

Innovation in materials and functionality, such as the sapphire crystal and screw-down crown, empower the Cayman with streamlined design and water resistance to 500 meters. At the same time, the ageless style and neutral palate effortlessly lends itself to seaside sports and leisure activities.

The Cayman Bronze edition introduces four natural hued models made of one of the most dynamic and beloved metals. The new sand textured dials contribute to the natural finish in black, blue, brown, and green while large luminescent numerals, indexes and hands in Super-LumiNova C3provide essential legibility in all conditions.

In keeping with the established commitment to excellence in diving instruments, DELMA’s new Cayman Bronze diving watch possesses a matching unidirectional rotating bezel with luminous indexes and numerals. The robust case, bezel, crown and buckle are crafted from antimagnetic and corrosion resistant CUSN6 superior grade bronze.

The hybrid Cordura rubber straps in coordinating tones conform to the shape of the wrist for ultimate comfort and are equipped with quick release spring bars for easy interchangeability.

Delma Shell Star Decompression Timer

The family-owned, independent Swiss watch brand Delma revives their iconic Shell Star collection by presenting a new diving watch with the Decompression Timer.

Delma’s professional diving watch Shell Star was introduced in 1975. The newly released Shell Star Decompression Timer is a technical, durable and stylish deep diver.

The functionality of the Shell Star Decompression Timer is based on research of the 1950s and 60s by Swiss dive pioneers Hannes Keller and Albert Bühlmann. Both former students at the University of Zurich, their combined expertise in mathematics, physics and diving motivated them to perform revolutionary research in the diving field. They recognized the impact of altitude on decompression and developed tables with specific gas mixtures for different elevations.

Bühlmann focused on identifying the correct combination of gases while Keller performed experimental dives to test their theories. The resulting tables enabled safe decent at sea level and in mountainous terrain and were even adopted by the Swiss military in 1972. Still today considered to be the most intuitive of their kind, they uniquely take into account the need for multiple decompression stops for deeper and longer dives.

The Delma Shell Star Decompression Timer is optimized for diving with air breathing at 0-700 meters above sea level. The diver uses the unidirectional bezel to time his dive. The vertical scale on the dial at 12 o‘clock corresponds to their dive depth in meters or feet.

It enables the diver to clearly see if their dive is within the no-decompression limit (NDL) where no decompression is required or whether decompression stops are necessary. The NDL time is reflected by the white markings on the rings, while the amount of decompression stops and their duration are shown by the numbers.

Unlike other comparable timepieces, DELMA’s Shell Star Decompression Timer utilizes Keller and Bühlmann’s research to clearly display when multiple decompression stops are needed for dives at sea level and beyond. Dressed in a robust 44mm diameter case and water resistant to 500 meters (1650 ft), this automatic diving timepiece also features a helium escape valve.

The  Shell Star Decompression Timer watch is offered with a black, blue or orange unidirectional bezel with either a stainless steel bracelet or rubber strap.

All models are automatic and contain a SW200 movement with date and DELMA customized rotor. Key historical characteristics include a spade central seconds hand, the railway track and orange and white indexes. The stainless steel case is sealed with a transparent case back revealing the intricate movement.

Delma Blue Shark III Azores

Swiss watch brand welcomes two new models to its professional diving watch collection. The new Blue Shark III Azores models will support the Megalodon Project in partnership with Delma’s ambassador, ocean conservationist and photographer Magnus Lundborg.

Scheduled for summer 2021, the Megalodon shark tagging project will use pioneering research to better understand the life and habitat of magnificent and endangered sea creatures including the elusive Blue Shark which can be found in the abundant waters surrounding the Azores archipelago.

Magnus alongside a team of scientist will conduct a study on marine mega fauna by creating a network of satellite tags and documenting the sharks’ behavior through data collection and photography. Their findings will be used to educate the public and government about the vital role sharks play in the ecosystem in order to cultivate conservation strategies and encourage sustainable solutions.

The Azores is an ideal site for this research as it is a crossover point, both in terms of ecological zones and seasonal migration routes for many big underwater mammals and fish. It is also a key breeding ground, acutely positioned to be cool enough in the summer and warm enough in the winter to harbour essential nutrients and sunlight at all times of year.

The new Blue Shark III models possess textured gradient dials which embody the colors of the subtropical oasis of the Azores at varying depths. The bright blue fading to deep navy and rich turquoise which graduates to vibrant green are reminiscent of the North Atlantic’s range of habitats at varying depths where the participating photographers and scientists will conduct their research and experience the life of endangered sharks and whales firsthand.

The Azores models have the exceptional strength of the original Blue Shark III and can sustain depths of up to 4,000 meters. They are equipped with quintessential divers’ watch attributes including a helium escape valve and unidirectional bezel.

Available with a black DLC or stainless steel bezel, each special Azores model comes in a bespoke Blue Shark box outfitted with custom tools and a rubber strap making them easily adaptable for all conditions.

These new editions give Delma’s renowned Blue Shark series heightened meaning by using their extreme durability and natural beauty to benefit their namesake.

The purchase of each Blue Shark III Azores will directly contribute to the Megalodon Project and ocean conservation efforts. The combination of captivating colors, extreme strength and philanthropic benefit make the new Blue Shark III Azores the ultimate diving watch for those who cherish the splendor and importance of all marine life.

DELMA is an independent and family-owned Swiss watch brand, specializing in the design and manufacturing of sports watches, founded in Lengnau (BE) in 1924. In 1969 DELMA launched their first divers’ watch, the Periscope, and started to develop a wide range of marine watches. In 1975, the Shell Star, the brand’s first professional divers’ watch won the recognition of distinguished divers and solidified the brands dedication to performance timepieces.

The Blue Shark, introduced in 2011, represents the first of three limited edition divers’ watches which pushed contemporary boundaries of strength and design. The Blue Shark II introduced new finishing materials while the evolution of the collection is crowned by the Blue Shark III. Created in 2019 to celebrate DELMA’s 95th anniversary and 50 years of DELMA divers’ watches, it is water resistant to an incredible 4,000 meters.

The Blue Shark III takes on a new meaning in 2021 with the introduction of the Azores editions. These two special dial options embrace their namesake and support ocean conservation.
