Casio G-SHOCK MR-G Series Kachi-Iro Collection (MRGB2000B-1A and MRGB2000R-1A)

Casio has announced the latest additions to its luxury G-SHOCK MR-G Series, with the introduction of the Kachi-Iro Collection. The brand-new MRGB2000B-1A and MRGB2000R-1A take inspiration from kachi-iro, the color of winning and victory in Japanese culture. Kachi-iro is a dark navy-blue color that was preferred by the native samurai warriors and was often used for armor and helmets.

Casio G-SHOCK MR-G Series Kachi-Iro Collection MRGB2000B-1A

The MRGB2000B-1A boasts a full metal band, derived from the base MRGB2000. A traditional Japanese scale pattern is used on the surface of the dial, while the outer face is cut to a shape that resembles a Japanese fan, creating a stunning impression. The gentle concave surfaces of the hour markers resemble the curve of a samurai sword, while the inner surface of the bezel, inset dials, and logo all incorporate the bold kachi-iro color.

Casio G-SHOCK MR-G Series Kachi-Iro Collection MRGB2000R-1A

The MRGB2000R-1A model offers a durable fluorine rubber band with a distinctive Bishamon tortoise shell finish—a symbol of strength in Japan since ancient times. While both models are equipped with a deep layered hardening titanium case, the unique bezel of the MRGB2000R-1A is made of recrystallized titanium. Heat treating titanium creates a distinctive crystal pattern on its surface which resembles the nie on Japanese sword blades.

Both models incorporate ancient Japanese strength and aesthetics that pair well with G-SHOCK’s absolute toughness and top technical features such as Tough Movement, Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping, and Full Time Link Bluetooth connectivity.

Each of the new timepieces also come equipped with standard G-SHOCK technology including:

In addition, home city/world time swapping, alarm & time settings as well as an expansion to 300 city word time can be achieved. There’s also a unique phone finder function that allows the user to ping their smartphone from the watch to locate it within range.

The MRGB2000B-1A and MRGB2000R-1A will retail for $3,000 each and will be available beginning this March.

Casio G-SHOCK MT-G Series – MTG-B1000XBD/B1000XB

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., has announced the latest addition to its G-SHOCK line of shock-resistant watches. The new MTG-B1000XBD and B1000XB are part of the MT-G series of watches, which are known for a construction that makes the most of the properties of both metal and resin. Both models feature a carbon fiber bezel that is lightweight and strong.

The MTG-B1000XBD and B1000XB are based on the MTG-B1000, which has a mid-sized case for enhanced wearability while delivering advanced functionality, including smartphone connectivity and solar-powered radio control. The new models feature a bezel made from carbon fiber, considered the “third material” after metal and plastics, for an evolution in design in keeping with the 20th anniversary of the MT-G series.

Carbon fiber is similar to plastic in terms of its light weight, yet comparable to or exceeding metal in durability, although its hardness makes it more difficult to process. Casio, however, further refined its multilayer three-dimensional molding technology and cutting techniques to enable the use of carbon fiber to construct the complex bezel parts. The elegant look of these models is further enhanced by high-transparency sapphire crystals.

The bezel is three-dimensionally molded from two layers of sheets made from carbon fiber and colored glass fiber-reinforced plastic, which are combined with resin. The MTG-B1000XBD incorporates red accent layers and the MTG-B1000XB incorporates white accent layers. These colored layers create a contrast with the black carbon fiber layers when viewing the bezel from the side, while the distinctive carbon fiber weave gives the bezel face an attractive design accent. This use of materials and construction gives a varying appearance to the bezel depending upon the angle of view.

The red-accented MTG-B1000XBD comes with a layered composite band made with durable fine resin parts, while the blue-accented MTG-B1000XB comes with a soft urethane band for enhanced wearability. The band attaches to the case using a combination of fine resin and metal parts for optimum strength.

CASIO G-SHOCK GRAVITYMASTER GWR-B1000

For this new GRAVITYMASTER, Casio has developed a carbon core guard structure, a new kind of shock-resistant structure. In addition, the pursuit of extreme toughness has led to the use of a carbon monocoque case, which unifies the case and back cover for a further improved airtight construction.

Through the use of highly functional materials, such as the carbon on the bezel and band and titanium for the push buttons and button pipes, the structure of the watch is made stronger, more lightweight, and rust-resistant. GWR-B1000 is equipped with Bluetooth® and radio-controlled timekeeping systems to achieve the accuracy required for professional flight missions.

Highlights

Carbon monocoque case
The case and back cover are part of a unified construction that ensures that the watch is both strong and airtight. In addition, the use of carbon materials grants greater freedom of design while increasing shock resistance.

Titanium materials are used for the metal parts that are exposed to outside air, making them lightweight, strong, and resistant to rust. The tough structure of the watch protects it from three types of gravitational acceleration: impact forces, centrifugal forces, and vibrations.

Carbon fibre has ten times the strength of iron at one-fourth its weight, and acquires excellent shock absorption. Titanium is about half the relative density of iron, but rivals steel in strength. By making widespread use of these two highly functional materials, GWR-B1000 achieves a weight of 72 g, the lightest for GRAVITYMASTER, while also maintaining the greatest shock resistance in the series. The watch is comfortable to wear for long periods, making it pilot-friendly.

Carbon core guard structure
A new shock-resistant carbon core guard structure integrates the case and case back into a monocoque case that protects the module. An external structure capitalizes on its toughness and lightness.

Bezel with 52 layers of carbon sheeting
The bezel is made of carbon materials as well, making it highly durable and resistant to damage. The layered carbon bezel is designed to keep flexibility and to absorb shock. It is achieved by making a clearance between the case and the bezel.

Shock-resistant button
The new carbon case helps to develop a new structure of button. This also enables removing the button guards from the exterior.

Carbon dial (GWR-B1000X)
A carbon fibre material used in recent aircraft construction has been adopted for the dial.

Stopwatch with flyback function
The button at 2 o’clock can be used to start a stopwatch operation while in the stopwatch mode. During a stopwatch operation, a single press of the button at 4 o’clock instantly stops the current operation, resets the stopwatch, and starts a new lap time. This flyback feature avoids time lost to button operations.

In-dial solar panel
Further improvements in the shadow dispersing solar panel by optimizing solar cell shapes to improve power generation efficiency and make it possible to generate sufficient power using only the light received through the dial areas of the face. This eliminates the need to limit the transmittance of the face, which greatly enhances face design possibilities.

Super Illuminator (high-brightness LED)
The LED illuminates the dial to ensure visibility in the dark.

Sapphire crystal with non-reflective coating
To ensure high readability, non-reflective coating is applied on the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Carbon fibre insert band
Carbon fibre of outstanding tensile strength is moulded into urethane resin with high cutting/tear resistance.

Featuring a stainless steel band and a curved crystal glass watch face, the EQB700 provides a comfortable fit and an elegant look with a slim profile of 11.2mm. A three dimensional World Time Dial near the 8 o’clock position displays the current time in a second location, while a battery indicator between 10 and 11 o’clock displays the current battery status at a glance.

A third dial, near the 3 o’clock position, is driven by a dual-coil motor to move a special large hand that indicates the day of the week. The EQB700 is also water resistant up to 100 meters. Plus, Casio’s Tough Solar Power keeps the timepiece going by enabling the wearer to charge it in low or fluorescent light, eliminating the need for continuous battery replacement.

Casio’s EDIFICE EQB700 is available at select jewelry and watch retailers nationwide this November for a MSRP of $380.

Casio EDIFICE EQB-600D-1A2 (With Inset Dial Featuring Planet Earth Motif)

Casio launches EQB-600D watch, the latest addition to the EDIFICE series of high-performance watches that combine dynamic styling with cutting-edge technology. The EQB-600D links to a smartphone and boasts a new multidimensional inset dial featuring an Earth motif that delivers the next step in the evolution of world time through an imaginative display.

Casio introduced the Global Time Sync concept to drive development of analog watches for today’s global age. Under Global Time Sync, Casio has developed G-SHOCK and OCEANUS watches with GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology that receives both GPS satellite and radio wave time calibration signals, and EDIFICE watches that link with a smartphone to set the time for some 300 cities across the world. These watches are gaining acclaim as advanced time keeping systems that deliver accurate time anywhere in the world.

The EQB-600D features 3D Globe Dial, a dome-shaped multidimensional inset dial with an Earth motif that displays the world time in an imaginative and aesthetically pleasing way. The finely detailed Earth motif is realized using the advanced molding techniques of Yamagata Casio Co., Ltd., the production base of Casio in Japan. A polarized deposition finish makes the color change at different viewing angles, adding further refinement to the watch.

3D Globe Dial works in conjunction with the world time shown on the inset dial at the 8 o’clock position, and it gradually rotates once every 24 hours just like Earth. The curved inset dial hand indicates the time zone for the world time city. When the inset dial hand is in the upper half of the 3D Global Dial, it indicates that it is night time (between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.) in that time zone, and when in the lower half, it indicates that it is daytime (between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.) in that time zone. This provides a visual daytime and night time indication, in addition to the time indication.

Casio developed the Accurate Time System, which further extends the time-setting features when linked to a smartphone. This system is incorporated into the CASIO Watch+ smartphone app, which links with the EQB-600D. The system connects to Internet time servers which supply time data, matching the data to a proprietary map database to obtain accurate times by extracting time zone data in the current location and daylight savings data.

The EDIFICE EQB-600D delivers accurate time with innovative features that evoke the unceasing flow of time around the world.

Casio G-SHOCK MTG-G1000AR

Casio releases the MTG-G1000AR, a new model in the MT -G series designed with a tough and elegant look. Built for long-term usage even in harsh environments, the new watch is made to look better the more it is worn.

MT-G  watches  offer  a  distinct  combination  of  the  refined  look  of  metal  and  resin  as  well  as outstanding shock resistance. Among models in the lineup, the MTG-G1000D, released last year, comes  with  the  company’s  hybrid  time-keeping  system  for  receiving  both  Global  Positioning System  (GPS)  satellite  signals and radio wave time-calibration signals. The MTG-G1000D has been highly evaluated by global travelers for its ability to display accurate time anywhere in the world, along with its comfortable-to-wear lightweight resin and attractively refined metal finish.

Casio used the MTG-G1000D as the base model for the new MTG-G1000AR. Designed with a “sunken  treasure”  motif,  this  special  model  has  been  made  to  withstand  harsh  environments without ever going out of style—a distinctive G-SHOCK  feature. Casio finished the surface with rose-gold ion plating, added a layer of black ion plating, and then stripped off some of the black ion plating to produce a finish with a well-worn vintage appearance. It also used a matching hue of rose-gold to color each of the glow-in-the-dark minute indicators and hands, as well as the inset dial at the 10 o’clock position. In all of these ways, the watch is inspired by and designed to evoke sunken treasure, down to the last detail.

Casio G-SHOCK MRG-G1000HT

Casio releases the MRG-G1000HT , a 20th anniversary model to commemorate the original launch of its flagship MR-G series in the G-SHOCK line.

Employing the theme of tsuiki, a traditional Japanese metalworking technique, Casio designed the new MRG-G1000HT in collaboration with a third-generation master artisan in the field, Bihou Asano. A limited run of 300 watches will be sold worldwide.

The MR-G series offers the ultimate in tough watch design. It combines a sense of quality evoked by finely finished titanium with the distinctively solid feel of G-SHOCK, which conveys its shock-resistant performance. MR-G has gained popularity among adults who want to enjoy a G-SHOCK for many years to come.

Casio boldly combined practicality and beauty under the theme of tsuiki in the design of the new MRG-G1000HT, while also realizing the MR-G concepts of extreme toughness and highly refined elegance. In collaboration with Bihou Asano, Casio produced a watch with a stately appearance and a beautifully pounded finish achieved through meticulous workmanship. Asano is a master tsuiki artisan who has created works for the Kyoto State Guest House and participated in restoration work of items designated as Important Cultural Properties in Japan.

For the bezel and the band, Casio produced a distinctive luster by applying special Japanese “Oboro-gin” (silver-grey color) finish traditionally used for sword accessories and ornaments. On the screws and buttons, the watch also features an “Akagane” (copper color) finish, which was used to give Japanese traditional armor and handicrafts their distinctively deep brilliance. Learning from these traditional metalworking techniques, Casio gave the entire MRG-G1000HT a dignified and attractively brilliant finish worthy of its status as a 20th anniversary model, denoted by a metal plate at the 10 o’clock position engraved with “20th LIMITED” and a serial number engraved on the back case.

Like the MRG-G1000 model it is based on, the new MRG-G1000HT comes with an advanced timekeeping system that receives both Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signals and radio wave time-calibration signals, and features Dual Dial World Time, which displays times in two cities simultaneously .

About Bihou Asano
As a third-generation master metalworker, Bihou Asano repairs, restores, and creates works at a level regarded as national treasures in Japan. His best known works include suspended incense burners and rooftop statues of deities restored for the Kyoto State Guest House and Osaka City Central Public Hall, respectively. He also studied metal casting techniques under the guidance of fourth-generation iron tea pot master, Jirobei Takagi. As Mr. Takagi’s professional successor, Mr. Asano has been broadening the range of his activities to include the production of traditional tea ceremony utensils such as pots and small ceremonial stoves.

About Tsuiki
Tsuiki is a metalworking technique by which a sheet of metal is hammered out thinly into a three-dimensional shape. Historically it was used to make copperware and other metal containers, as well as armor and helmets, which needed to be made both thin and strong. Nowadays, the technique is applied to produce components for rail cars, aircraft, and other items.

Casio G-SHOCK GULFMASTER GWN-Q1000

Casio releases the GWN-Q1000, the latest addition to the ocean concept GULFMASTER Series, part of the G-SHOCK line of shock-resistant watches. The GWN-Q1000 is the first G-SHOCK equipped with quad sensors to track constantly changing ocean conditions, designed to be useful for coast guard officers and others who are active at sea.

The GULFMASTER GWN-Q1000 is a seagoing concept model equipped with quad sensors to track ocean conditions, aiming to assist coast guard officers and others in security and rescue activities at sea. The atmospheric pressure sensor helps to predict suddenly changing weather conditions, the temperature sensor reads changes in air and water temperature, the compass bearing sensor helps detect wind and tidal direction, and the water depth sensor measures current depth under water. These sensors enable the user to assess changing ocean conditions in real time, in situations where they may be racing against time and the natural elements.

For ease of access, information from the five sensor modes (atmospheric pressure, altitude, temperature, compass bearing, and depth), as well as sudden atmospheric changes and a tide graph showing low and high tide information, are indicated on the inset dial at the 5 o’clock position. A dual coil motor enables a retrograde movement to display the information, for ease of recognition.

Optimized for use in ocean environments, the watch case is made from carbon fiber materials for superior rigidity. The button casings use metal pipes for high durability and enhanced water resistance. Furthermore, the shock absorbent back cover and watchband are made of soft urethane for better comfort on the wrist.

Casio OCEANUS OCW-G1100S

Casio releases the OCW-G1100S, a new addition to the OCEANUS line of metal watches designed to capture the essence of elegance and technology. The new watch features solar and GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technologies and is inspired by the mysterious beauty of the exosphere, the space between Earth’s atmosphere and outer space. A limited edition of 200 watches will be released worldwide.

OCEANUS is a line of solar-powered titanium metal watches offering sophisticated design and advanced functionality. The OCW-G1000 and OCW-G1100 are both equipped with GPS and standard time signal reception technology. This feature gives users the correct local time wherever they go.

Based on the OCW-G1100, the new OCW-G1100S represents a further evolution of OCEANUS blue. The design motif captures the deep blue mystery of the exosphere as it transitions into the blackness of outer space.

The right side of the two-color molded ceramic bezel, which indicates time zones ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), is accented in blue, while the left side, indicating time zones behind UTC, is rendered in black. The gradation of color in the dial evokes the transition from the planet to the exosphere. The indicator in the two o’clock position represents stars shining through the exosphere, and is realized using recrystallized blue sapphires and natural diamonds.

Furthermore, the 12 o’clock index marker features a large recrystallized blue sapphire, evoking a satellite motif. In addition to a natural diamond set on the second hand axis in the center of the dial, the watch case and band feature a DLC coating, giving the new model the scratch-resistance needed to maintain the beauty of the watch for a long time.

The new OCW-G1100S is packed with advanced technology, too. It not only includes solar and GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technologies, but also comes with a Dual Coil Motor, which enables the watch hands in the inset dial at the 6 o’clock position to move at high speed both clockwise and counter clockwise. As a result, the time shown in the dial can change quickly whenever world time functions are used.

Moreover, the speed of the moving hands is regulated for an interesting effect, adding to the pleasure of wearing this watch. This premium watch, produced using the sophisticated manufacturing technologies of Casio Yamagata Factory in Japan, combines a luxurious look with high functionality and practicality.

Casio OCEANUS OCW-G1100C

Casio presents the OCW-G1100C, a new addition to the OCEANUS line of metal watches designed to capture the essence of elegance and technology. The new watch features solar and GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technologies and is inspired by a stratospheric view of the awe-inspiring color transitions in Earth’s atmosphere.

OCEANUS is a line of solar-powered titanium metal watches offering sophisticated design and advanced functionality. The OCW-G1000 and OCW-G1100 are both equipped with GPS and standard time signal reception technology. Since this feature gives users the correct local time wherever they go, these watches have become especially popular among global business travelers.

Based on the OCW-G1100, the new OCW-G1100C boasts a look inspired by a stratospheric view of Earth’s blue atmosphere as it gradually merges into the darkness of space. The watch’s color palette includes black to evoke the vastness of the universe, clear blue to suggest the sky, and white to represent the clouds blanketing our planet.

The right side of the two-color molded ceramic bezel, which indicates time zones ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), is accented in blue, while the left side, indicating time zones behind UTC, is rendered in black. Since it is made of ceramic, the bezel offers outstanding wear resistance and a super smooth feel. The dial represents a further evolution in the representation of OCEANUS blue. The gradation of blue and white evokes a transition from clear blue sky to pristine white clouds. Rendered in mother-of-pearl, the indicator in the two o’clock position represents a sea of cloud cover.

Recrystallized blue sapphires have been placed in the crown and the axis of the second hand, while the 12 o’clock index marker is conspicuously large, evoking a satellite motif. With design accents such as the recrystallized blue sapphire on the second hand axis as well as the gold color on the second hand suggesting a meteor, the new model offers a luxury feel with a refreshing color palette.

The new OCW-G1100C is packed with advanced technology, too. Casio FROGMAN GWF-D1000

Casio presents the new FROGMAN GWF-D1000 diver’s watch, a new addition to its G-SHOCK line of shock-resistant watches. The GWF-D1000 is equipped with triple sensors and is designed to withstand the toughest of underwater missions.

Shock-resistant FROGMAN diver’s watches feature ISO 200 -meter water resistance and a unique asymmetric shape that leaves wrist movement unrestricted. Since releasing the first FROGMAN DW-6300 watch in 1993, Casio introduced the DW-8200 (1995) featuring rust-resistant titanium materials, the DW -9900 (1999) with a small form factor, the GW-200 (2001) with Solar Power, and the GWF-1000 (2009) that receives time-calibration radio signals from six global broadcast stations. FROGMAN watches have continued to evolve by incorporating the latest technologies available.

The FROGMAN GWF-D1000 represents another major step forward in the evolution of FROGMAN watches, with three precision sensors for measuring water depth, temperature, and compass bearing, and it is designed for use in the toughest environments including marine rescue.

The GWF-D1000 also marks a first for the FROGMAN Series, with a water depth function that measures the depth down to 80 meters in 10 centimeter increments. The temperature function measures water temperature in 0.1 degree Celsius increments, and the compass bearing function, which features auto horizontal compensation, measures bearing in one degree increments even when tilted. These sensors provide real-time measurement data to support underwater search and rescue activities. The watch comes with an array of pro-grade features including a tide graph that displays high and low tides and a log memory function to track diving activities (dive time, maximum water depth, and lowest water temperature), supplemented by an excessive ascent rate alarm.

The GWF-D1000 also takes a leap forward on the outside with features that enhance durability. While retaining the asymmetric shape of past FROGMAN watches, the GWF-D1000 boasts a crystal made of scratch-resistant sapphire and a wristband reinforced with a carbon fiber insert. The watch features large buttons that are easy to operate even with gloves on.

The back case features a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating and is engraved with a FROGMAN icon featuring a stylized rescue frog bravely diving into the dark seas with light in hand.

Casio G-SHOCK MRG-G1000DC

The new G-SHOCK MRG-G1000DC from Casio features “Akagane” (copper colour) accents realized with ion plating, evoking a metal that has been used in traditional Japanese metalwork, much prized in Japan over the centuries. The new model reflects the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

The MR-G series offers the ultimate in tough watch design. It combines a sense of quality evoked by finely finished metallic elements with the distinctively solid feel of G-SHOCK, which conveys its shock-resistant performance. MR-G has gained popularity among adults who want to enjoy a G-SHOCK watch for many years to come.

The new G-SHOCK MRG-G1000DC inherits the features of the model it is based on, the MRG-G1000—an advanced timekeeping system that receives both Global Positioning System (GPS) and radio wave time-calibration signals and offers Dual Dial World Time, which simultaneously displays the time in two different cities. Moreover, the new model offers a look that reflects the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

A beautiful warm copper hue found in traditional Japanese metalwork has been used to accent the numerals, inset dials, and crown, as well as the guards that reinforce the shock-resistance of the side buttons. The copper-colored accents realized with ion plating deliver a Japanese artistic style within a tough design.

The case and band have received titanium-carbide processing, and Sallaz polishing, the ultimate in polishing technology, has been used to ensure that the metallic surfaces shine beautifully for many years. As part of a pursuit of toughness, the bezel is made from Ti64( alloy made from 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium), which is even harder than pure titanium, and DLC coating has been applied to the surface of the four bezel screws and to the side buttons in the 2 and 4 o’clock positions. The result is a special model that will be appreciated has timeless appeal.
