Bentley and Breitling Announce the Termination of Their Partnership

After just under two decades, Breitling and Bentley have announced the cessation of their long-standing partnership. As the production of the last Bentley Breitling Tourbillon is complete, the two iconic brands recall their best-in-class union and significant shared achievements.

Swiss watch brand Breitling and British luxury car maker Bentley have been working together for 19 years, the longest-ever partnership between a watch brand and a luxury car manufacturer.

The partnership began in 2002, when Bentley and Breitling came together to design the onboard clock for the first-ever Bentley Continental GT, which was debuted in 2003.

Following this, the partnership has created some of the most notable watches in Breitling’s history. The last Bentley Breitling Tourbillon now leaves the factory. It is set to be an iconic collector’s timepiece, representing the final collaboration between the two brands.

For the past two decades, Bentley and Breitling have collaboratively achieved extraordinary levels of luxury for their customers. Now, they announce that they will be parting ways at the end of 2021.

Some of the most memorable collaborations between the two brands include: the Breitling Bentley Supersports Light Body watch, the Breitling Bentley GT3 Limited Edition, the Bentayga dashboard Tourbillon clock, the Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series, the Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green, and the Premier Bentley Centenary Limited Edition.

In April 2021, the new Breitling Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon 42 Bentley Limited Edition launched, joining a range of other collaborations between the two brands. The last piece of this most recent timepiece has now been finished and will soon be enjoyed by its new owner.

Georges Kern, the CEO of Breitling, said: “We’re proud of what we have accomplished together, and after 19 years, Breitling and Bentley are embarking on their own new journeys. I know that Bentley will continue to define excellence in the automotive industry. The final Bentley Tourbillon leaving our factory represents a moment of positive reflection for us all.”

Adrian Hallmark, Bentley Motors’ Chairman and CEO commented: “The long-standing collaboration between Bentley and Breitling demonstrated that when two like-minded brands work together authentically, the performance of both is enhanced. We look back on the past two decades with great affection and send our warmest best wishes to the Breitling team for the future.”

It’s time to look back at some of the highlights of the past two decades. The partnership can be traced back to 2002, when Bentley was designing the car that would go on to become the Continental GT. Bentley commissioned Breitling to create an onboard clock that would reflect the unparalleled luxury, quality, and performance of the new grand tourer, which was debuted in 2003.

Breitling’s official sponsorship of Team Bentley at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race was a highlight for both brands. Bentley returned to Le Mans in 2003, where the famous “Bentley Boys” had achieved their greatest victories in the late 1920s. Breitling was Team Bentley’s proud main sponsor and celebrated it with the Bentley Le Mans Limited Edition Chronograph.

Bentley’s high-speed performance wasn’t limited to the racetrack. In 2011, a special version of the Bentley Continental GTC Supersports set a new world record on ice when driver Juha Kankkunen, wearing a limited-edition Breitling Bentley Supersports Light Body watch, achieved a speed of 205 mph (331 km/h), shattering the previous record, which had been set by Bentley four years earlier. The drive took place on the frozen waters of the Baltic Sea.

In 2014, Bentley successfully returned to motorsport competition in the GT3 category with its high-performance speed machine, the Continental GT3, which enjoyed numerous podium finishes. Breitling’s limited-edition Bentley GT3 watch, launched a year later, featured a sporty black titanium case and racing car–inspired carbon fiber dial.

In the same year, Breitling also created a dashboard clock featuring a Tourbillon complication for the ultimate luxury SUV, the Bentley Bentayga. This is in fact the most valuable item that Bentley has ever installed in a car, aside from the cars themselves! It is products like these that illustrate the power of the two brands’ joint performance.

In 2015, Breitling and Bentley unveiled the Bentley Continental GT Speed Breitling Jet Team Series at the Seattle Boeing Seafair Air Show. In tribute to the teams of engineers, flight controllers, and pilots, a limited edition of just seven totally unique Bentley Continental GT Speeds was commissioned by Breitling. The magnificent seven cars featured two-tone exteriors of Onyx and Hallmark to reflect the striking livery of the Breitling jets.

In 2018, Breitling launched the Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green. Powered by Breitling’s flagship Manufacture Caliber 01 in-house mechanical movement, which is visible through a unique transparent caseback with a metalized Bentley logo. These timepieces also have an engraved plate with a “Bentley” inscription inspired by the dashboard of the historic supercharged 1929 “Blower” Bentley.

A year later, on the occasion of Bentley’s centenary and to celebrate its partner’s 100 years of luxury motoring excellence, Breitling launched the Premier Bentley Centenary Limited Edition. Produced in 18 k red gold and stainless-steel versions, they featured unique brown elm burl dials, a nod to the wood inserts in their Continental GT Number 9 Edition taken from the seat of Sir Tim Birkin’s legendary Bentley Blower from 1930.

As the journey shared by Breitling and Bentley draws to a close after nearly two decades, it is appropriate that the final chapter is defined by the ultimate in luxury watchmaking, the Premier B21 Chronograph Tourbillon 42 Bentley Limited Edition, produced in an exclusive series of 25 pieces.

The final piece from the series is now on its way to its owner. It marks a fitting end to a partnership which has always been characterized by two great brands’ joint commitment to pioneering spirit, expert craftsmanship, exquisite design and technological excellence.

Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green

Swiss luxury watch brand Breitling has renewed its partnership with Bentley, the celebrated manufacturer of British luxury cars. The two great brands have worked together since 2003, when Breitling became the first watchmaker entrusted to design an onboard clock for Bentley’s flagship model, the Continental GT.

In announcing the renewal of its long-standing partnership with Bentley, Breitling said that it would be integrating special Bentley editions into its core product offering rather than in a separate Breitling for Bentley collection.

The watch is distinguished by its striking British racing green dial and is available with a choice of a stainless steel bracelet or a British racing green leather strap that matches the dial. Contrasting subdials are positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock, and a date window is located at 6 o’clock.

When Bentley Motors celebrates its centenary in 2019, Breitling will launch a dedicated limited-edition timepiece to celebrate 100 years of luxury motoring excellence.

In 2003, Bentley Motors, the most sought-after luxury car brand in the world, launched its very first Continental GT, the unrivaled grand tourer. Every detail in the Continental GT reflects Bentley’s ongoing commitment to quality, luxury, and performance, and, fittingly, the company chose Breitling to design the onboard clock.

Breitling’s association with motoring has a long history. Its onboard chronograph, launched for aviation in 1931, was also designed for use on automobile dashboards. Furthermore, there is a personal connection between Bentley and Breitling that can be traced back some 70 years. Willy Breitling, the visionary inventor of the second chronograph pusher and the grandson of founder Léon Breitling, was a devoted Bentley fan. From the late 1940s, the flamboyant watchmaker was a familiar sight on the roads between Geneva and La Chaux-deFonds at the wheel of one of his many Bentleys.

While Bentley is known for its luxurious road cars, the brand also has an impressive history on the track. Between 1924 and 1930, the famous “Bentley Boys” won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race five times. That success, however, did not only remain a part of the brand’s past. In 2003, Bentley returned to Le Mans and took the first and second place finishes. At that edition of the world’s most famous endurance race, Breitling was Team Bentley’s proud main sponsor and created a limited-edition chronograph, the Bentley Le Mans, to celebrate the feat.

Breitling has long been known for its robust “instruments for professionals,” but has also created elegant, luxurious watches that appeal to an even broader demographic base. As Breitling and Bentley explore the possibilities offered by their renewed partnership, these two iconic brands look forward to sharing great new products with old friends and introducing themselves to discerning men and women all over the world.

BREITLING for Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon Chronograph

Launched in 2005, the BREITLING for Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon Chronograph is an extraordinary timepiece that embodies a blend of technology and tradition. The Mulliner Tourbillon chronograph is also a rare and indeed extremely rare model, since only a few pieces made each year.

Behind the closed doors of the prestigious Mulliner workshop at the Bentley factory in Crewe, a hundred or so craftsmen and technicians lavish the utmost care on fulfilling the most specific wishes of Bentley owners.

BREITLING for Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon Chronograph

While exclusivity comes at a price, it also brings its share of privileges, since each Mulliner Tourbillon is customized by its future owner. According to his personal preferences, he can choose the type of case – in platinum or in yellow, rose or white gold – the dial colour or the exact shade of the crocodile leather strap. Even the precious wood decoration on the back of the watch comes in a choice of six types of veneer.
BREITLING for Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon ChronographThis masterpiece also has an exceptional heart in the shape of hand-wound Breitling Caliber 18B, a Tourbillon chronograph movement exclusive to “ Breitling for Bentley ”. The tourbillon is a sophisticated mechanism constituting one of the most ingenious mechanical watch complications: the balance, balance-spring and escapement are contained within a carriage spinning on its axis, a construction which compensates for the variations in rate that occur when a watch is in a vertical position.

This is not the only special feature of this mechanism: its “30-second ” type chronograph mechanism is distinguished by its central hand revolving around the dial in half a minute instead of the usual 60 seconds; this apparently surprising configuration enables extremely precise read-off for the fractions of a second, in this case 1/6ths. It is also endowed with a 15-minute totalizer and a pointer-type date display.

BREITLING for Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon ChronographEach automobile that emerges from the Mulliner workshops is unique… and such is also true of each Mulliner Tourbillon, thus guaranteeing its owner the certainty that he will never see an identical watch. Each hour-marker on the dial is fashioned from natural hand-crafted mother-of-pearl.

Both literally and figuratively, each Mulliner Tourbillon carries the hallmark of its owner, including his initials engraved on one of the movement bridges. Protected by a sapphire crystal, the precious wooden ring is available in the same shades and veneers as the Bentley Mulliner trim: burr walnut, dark stained burr walnut, madrona, birds eye maple, burr oak, olive ash.
BREITLING for Bentley Mulliner Tourbillon ChronographThe countless ways of personalising a Mulliner Tourbillon chronograph are directly inspired by those offered by the Bentley Mulliner workshops in Crewe.

Breitling for Bentley Supersports B55 Limited Edition

To celebrate the launch of the Bentley Continental Supersports, Breitling for Bentley has created a limited-edition chronograph with a titanium case, carbon dial and a connected movement equipped with functions dedicated to motorsports.

The magnificent Breitling for Bentley adventure first hit the road in 2003 with the launch of the Continental GT, for which Breitling notably designed the dashboard clock. It has since given rise to a rich collection of mechanical chronographs that is now extended by a standout chronograph developed in tribute to the new Continental Supersports: the fastest Continental ever built with a top speed of 209 mph (336 km/h), a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds) as well as an entirely revisited design.

Issued in a 500-piece worldwide edition, this Bentley Supersports B55 immediately stands out by its resolutely sporty appearance, with a sturdy and light titanium case framing a dial in carbon fibre – a favourite material in the motorsports arena and featured in many details of the new Continental Supersports. This intrepid touch is further enhanced by a double-layer red-edged and lined black rubber strap.

Such exceptional bodywork deserved an equally exceptional engine. For the first time in the history of Breitling for Bentley, Breitling has equipped a chronograph dedicated to the British carmaker with an electronic movement – and a very special one at that. This new version of its in-house B55 connected calibre is enriched with functions tailor-made for the automobile universe. Alongside the flyback chronograph, lap timer and electronic tachymeter, this B55 “Racing” calibre features three types of exclusive chronograph functions. Firstly, the “chrono rally” function serves to record up to 30 stages, complete with the departure date of the rally, the start time and duration of each stage, as well as intermediate times for each stage, while adding in any penalties incurred. Secondly, the “chrono race” function designed for track races enables the user to record the split times for each lap and calculate the average speed per lap. Thirdly, the “regularity rally” function (useful in competitions in which the objective is to cover a given distance in a given time) affords the possibility of predefining target times or intermediate times out of a total time, and then checking at the press of a button whether one is meeting those goals.

The entirely autonomous Bentley Supersports B55 has been designed as a full-fledged chronograph, with the smartphone connection used to enhance its functionality and to store or transmit data. The smartphone app has been developed in Switzerland specifically for this watch. The two ultra-legible LCD (liquid crystal display) screens are equipped with a backlighting system that can be activated by pressing the crown or by tilting the wrist.

A high-octane tribute to the sportiest of the Continental GT, and a showcase for Breitling’s trademark innovation, this Bentley Supersports B55 with its officially chronometer-certified SuperQuartzTM movement once again pushes the limits of functionality, precision and performance.

Breitling for Bentley – GMT B04 S Carbon Body Limited Edition

Equipped with a Manufacture Breitling dual time-zone movement, the Bentley GMT B04 S chronograph makes a strong comeback in a 250-piece limited series with a carbon case and dial.

Already interpreted in a titanium version, the Bentley GMT B04 S features a strikingly original and daring design based on asymmetrical lugs and integrated push-pieces moulding the shape of the case and an exclusive black rubber strap.

Breitling now introduces it in a limited edition distinguished by its resolutely sporty exterior. With this in mind, the brand has chosen a cutting-edge technology already used on the chassis of Formula 1 racing cars as well as in aviation and racing boats – but entirely novel in a watch. The high-tech case material is composed of tiny carbon fibres (just 30 microns in diameter) woven into several hundreds of layers placed at a 45-degree angle between each successive layers, and then bonded by heat-set resin.

The result is peerless rigidity combined with superlative shock-resistance and a distinctive matt-black appearance. A paragon of legibility, the dial is also made of carbon with a visible weave. A competition- ready look enhanced by red-rimmed counters reminiscent of racing car instrument panels.

Whether a road going or universal travel companion, this dual time-zone chronograph also stands out for its unprecedented user-friendliness. The black hour hand showing local time is quickly and easily adjusted by rotating the crown forwards or backwards – without losing any precision in terms of minutes and while ensuring automatic adjustment of the date in both directions. Meanwhile, the red hand keeps track of home time in 24-hour mode.

An additional user friendly feature takes the form of a rotating inner bezel bearing the names of 24 cities and serving to show the time at a glance in every time zone compared to the time shown by the 24-hour hand. This exceptional functionality is admirably controlled by Manufacture Breitling Calibre B04, protected by two patents: an ‘engine’ entirely developed and produced by Breitling that is chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), a reliable token of superior precision and reliability.

Breitling for Bentley GT3 Chronograph

A tribute to the Continental GT3 and Bentley’s motorsport victories, the new Bentley GT3 chronograph fiercely flaunts its sporting nature in this 500-piece limited series with a black titanium case, carbon fibre dial, original twin-counter system and chronometer-certified self-winding movement.

The competitive spirit has always defined the Bentley universe. Five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1920s to 1930s, the British car manufacturer got right back to its winning ways by sweeping the first two places on the legendary track in 2003.

As main sponsor of Team Bentley, Breitling toasted this victory by unveiling a chronograph named “Bentley Le Mans” and marking the start of the magnificent Breitling for Bentley adventure. In 2014, Bentley made its big comeback to motorsports by competing in the GT3 category with a high-performance new speed machine, the Continental GT3. This sports engineering marvel has enabled the firm to chalk up several major wins, including two victories in Silverstone (United Kingdom) and on the Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet (France), while the 2015 season has already seen it score several podium places in Europe, the United States and Asia.

To celebrate this fresh momentum, Breitling for Bentley is launching a new limited edition Bentley GT3 timepiece – a gem of style and performance worthy of the super-sleek racing car after which it is named. The black titanium case features a blend of sturdiness and lightness, two indispensable qualities in the heat of the action.

The carbon fibre dial exudes an ultra-sporty look inspired by racing cars. Clear readings of the finest feats are provided by the chronograph with its innovative display system featuring a 60-minute counter via a central hand (for times of less than an hour) and a combined hour/minute counter at 9 o’clock (for times of an hour or more).

At the heart of this peerless instrument beats a self-winding movement chronometer certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), the only precision and reliability benchmark based on an international standard.

The exclusive black rubber strap bears the inscription “Continental GT3” – the embodiment of the will to conquer driven by the Bentley spirit.

Breitling for Bentley B06 S

The Bentley B06 with its original “30-second chronograph” system is now available in a new compact version accentuating its sophisticated and sporty design. The new special S version with a 44 mm diameter appeals devotees of fine mechanics offering a blend of elegance and performance. The knurled pattern on the bezel, a nod to the famous Bentley radiator grills, is picked up in the motif stamped on the black or silver dial.

Its engine, the Manufacture Breitling Calibre B06, entirely developed and produced in the Breitling Chronométrie workshops, and officially chronometer-certified, boasts an ingenious “30-second chronograph” system inspired by a 1926 Breitling patent. It involves a central hand sweeping around the dial in half a minute and thus ensuring extremely precise eighth-of-a second readings of the times it measures.

Another worldwide exclusive feature is the “variable tachymeter” with rotating bezel, serving to calculate average speeds whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached. The Bentley B06 S is available in steel or red gold and comes with a choice of a bracelet or a strap in leather, crocodile or rubber with a central raised pattern matching the bezel.

Breitling for Bentley GMT Light Body B04 Midnight Carbon & GMT Light Body B04 S

The Bentley GMT Light Body B04 chronograph welcomes two new interpretations of its extremely original design: one in black titanium, and the other in a more compact diameter. Beneath the taut, sporty bodywork beats a Manufacture Breitling movement with an incomparably user-friendly second time zone display.

Equipped with an ultra-light titanium case, the Bentley GMT Light Body B04 combines the quintessence of British chic with exceptional ‘motorization’. It is distinguished by its daring design featuring asymmetrical lugs, a black rubber strap, ergonomic push-pieces and a bezel with a knurled motif inspired by the Bentley radiator grilles.

Bentley GMT Light Body B04 Midnight Carbon

This keen traveller now takes to the road in two new versions: the Bentley GMT Light Body B04 Midnight Carbon, featuring a case with a highly resistant black carbon-based coating; and the Bentley GMT Light Body B04 S, with a ‘natural’ titanium 45 mm case and black or silver dial. These mechanical timepieces are distinguished by their unprecedented user friendliness.

Bentley GMT Light Body B04 S

To adjust the main hour hand to local time, the user simply pulls out the crown and turns it in either direction in one-hour increments – a manoeuvre that also automatically corrects the date both backwards and forwards. This feat is driven by Manufacture Breitling Calibre B04, which has been rewarded by two patents.

Bentley GMT Light Body B04 Midnight Carbon

As an additional practical travel feature, the rotating inner bezel bearing the names of 24 cities enables at-a-glance readings of the time in all the world’s time zones in relation to the time shown by the 24-hour hand (home time). The dial featuring a stamped circular raised motif displays excellent readability, enhanced by oversized luminescent hands and hour-markers and red-rimmed counters reminiscent of automobile dashboards.

Bentley GMT Light Body B04 Midnight Carbon

The Bentley GMT Light Body B04 Midnight Carbon model is also equipped with a transparent caseback providing a chance to admire the self-winding B04 chronograph movement, chronometer certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), like all Breitling for Bentley ‘engines’.

Breitling for Bentley GMT Light Body B04

The new Bentley GMT Light Body B04 comes with a high-performance Manufacture Breitling Calibre entirely developed and produced in the Breitling Chronométrie workshops.

A paragon of functionality, this travel chronograph is also distinguished by its unprecedented ease of handling.

This is achieved without any loss of precision in terms of the minutes, while the date is automatically adjusted to local time in either direction. Another appreciable source of comfort on the road stems from the rotating inner bezel bearing the names of 24 cities and enabling at-a-glance readings of all timezones around the world in relation to the one indicated by the 24-hour hand.

Breitling for Bentley 6.75 Midnight Carbon Limited Edition

Breitling presents the brand new Bentley 6.75 Midnight Carbon chronograph in an entirely black-clad limited series as a tribute to the biggest Bentley engine, the famous 6.75 litre version that powers luxurious Mulsanne limousines.

This midnight-hued livery, achieved by a special ultra-resistant carbon-based treatment, enhances the sporting style of the satin-brushed steel case with its taut, dynamic lines and its knurled bezel inspired by Bentley’s famous radiator grilles. The dial also exudes dark elegance, enhanced by a vertical open-worked motif offering a glimpse of the movement. The caseback springs its own surprise, since the five spoke motif reprising the distinctive design of Bentley wheel rims also appears in black against the metallic background.

The self-winding chronograph movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), is distinguished by its original “large aperture calendar” system displaying the date in a highly readable manner via two distinct indicators: one for the tens and the other for the units.

Issued in a 1,000-piece limited edition, the Bentley 6.75 Midnight Carbon comes on a rubber strap with a central raised motif echoing that of the bezel.

The Bentley B06 is distinguished by its exclusive “30- second chronograph” system; while the Bentley B04 GMT and Bentley B05 Unitime models will appeal to world travelers and citizens thanks to ultra-practical dual time-zone and world-time mechanisms.

2003 was not only the year Bentley made its big comeback on the track of the Le Mans 24 Hours race by winning the two top spots right off the bat. It also marked the start of the beautiful Breitling for Bentley adventure, a collection born from a cross between the grand art of British car-making and the fine Swiss watchmaking tradition. Ten years later, this rich family of chronographs has won over the planet through its unique blend of elegance and performance, power and style, sportiness and refinement.

Breitling now takes it to a new level by equipping it with three movements entirely designed and developed in the Breitling Chronométrie workshops with all the expertise of the chronograph and technical watch specialist. Three in-house engines combining peerless performance with innovative and user-friendly functions. These self-winding chronograph B04, B05 and B06 calibres are endowed with a column wheel, a vertical coupling clutch and an over 70-hour power reserve. Like all Breitling for Bentley movements, they are chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), the highest benchmark in terms of precision and reliability, and the only one based on an international standard.

Bentley B06 Chronograph
A perfect emblem of the Breitling for Bentley spirit, the new Bentley B06 chronograph weds sophisticated aesthetics with Manufacture Breitling Calibre B06. It is distinguished by its ingenious “30-second chronograph” system, inspired by a Breitling patent dating from 1926 and based on a central hand sweeping around the dial in half a minute – thereby ensuring extremely accurate 1/8th second time readings. Another world-exclusive feature is the “variable tachometer” with a rotating bezel serving to calculate average speed whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached – contrary to standard tachometers that measure only times of less than 60 seconds.

The knurled motif on the bezel, a nod to the famous Bentley radiator grilles, is picked up in the open-worked dial revealing glimpses of the high-performance engine. This decidedly original approach continues on the reverse side of the watch that is fitted with a transparent caseback revealing a spectacular 360° sculpted oscillating weight evoking the shape of a wheel rim.

The Bentley B06 is available in steel or red gold, along with a choice of a bracelet or a crocodile leather or rubber strap adorned with a central raised motif matching that on the bezel.

BENTLEY Light Body Midnight Carbon Limited Edition

Beneath its all-black exterior, the highly original Bentley Light Body Midnight Carbon issued in a 1,000-piece worldwide limited edition conceals a light and sturdy titanium chassis featuring a highly resistant carbon-based coating.

The dashboard-style dial displays two exclusive Breitling technical features highlighted by red-rimmed indications. The ingenious “30-second chronograph” system, heir to a 1926 Breitling patent, with its central hand sweeping around the dial in half a minute instead of the customary 60 seconds, provides highly accurate 1/8th of a second readings.

Contrary to conventional tachometers, designed to handle observations based only on times of less than 60 seconds, the “variable tachometer” activated via the rotating pinion bezel serves to measure average speeds whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached.

The originality and strength of the all-black design are accentuated by the hands and hour-markers also clad in matt black – enhanced by a luminescent coating ensuring optimal readability in the dark. The midnight black rubber strap is distinguished by its central raised motif echoing that of the knurled bezel – a refined nod to the famous radiator grilles gracing the prow of Bentley cars.

The performances of this elegant and ultra-sporty watch are powered by a selfwinding chronograph movement chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) – the ultimate reference in terms of reliability and precision and the only one based on an international standard.

Breitling for Bentley Barnato 42 Midnight Carbon Limited Edition

Breitling for Bentley family of luxury watches now welcomes a new member to the range of exceptional timepieces that reflects the heritage and know-how of both legendary British car manufacture and the Swiss watch brand renowned for high grade professional timekeepers.

Barnato was the most famous among the “Bentley Boys”, the men engaged in a passionate pursuit of victories and accomplishments that included winning the Le Mans 24 Hours Race no less than five times between 1924 and 1930. In 2011, the brand introduced an exceptional sports chronograph named Barnato by combining superlative style with peerless performance.

Breitling for Bentley now interprets this sporty model in a 1,000-piece limited edition entirely clothed in black – from the case made of steel that is the color of night thanks to a highly resistant carbon-based treatment, through the dial to the supple and sturdy rubber strap.

The “instrument panel” appearance is reinforced by the chromed steel-rimmed counters, the red accents and a tachometric scale on the inner bezel. The generous size of the bezel heights the effect of the elegant raised knurled motif inspired by the famous Bentley radiator grilles. The large hour-markers and the oversized hands enhanced by a luminescent coating guarantee easy reading of the time in any circumstances, even in the heat of action. This ardent and sophisticated sports model is powered by a selfwinding chronograph movement chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) – the ultimate token of precision and reliability.

Breitling for Bentley GMT V8 Limited Edition

To celebrate the launch of the Continental GT V8 with its ultra-powerful new 4.0 V8 engine – the latest tour de force from the Bentley engineers – Breitling has created a 250-piece limited series of the Bentley GMT chronograph. Its signature feature is the mobile inner city bezel distinguished by a metallic red shade creating a powerful and sporting contrast with the black dial.

This vivid touch of colour reflects the red background of the Bentley emblem that sets the Continental GT V8 model apart from other models by the British carmaker. The original and daring design of the steel case with its asymmetrical lugs is teamed with a bracelet or a rubber strap exclusive to this model.

A natural-born traveller, the Bentley GMT boasts an ingenious multiple timezone display system. It is equipped with a red triangular tipped additional hour hand completing one rotation every 24 hours. The pushpiece housed in the left side of the case serves to move this hand forward in one-hour increments in order to display the second timezone – while distinguishing between day and night hours. Thanks to a rotating inner bezel bearing the names of the 24 cities, the user can also instantly read off the time in all the world’s timezones in relation to that shown by the 24-hour hand.

The selfwinding chronograph movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC, offers another technical asset exclusive to the Breitling for Bentley collection: a “30-second chronograph” with a sweep seconds hand making one full turn of the dial in half a minute and thus enabling readings accurate to the nearest 1/8th of a second. With the Bentley GMT “V8”, it’s definitely time for performance.

Breitling for Bentley Barnato & Barnato Racing Chronograph – Tribute to Joel Woolf Barnato, the First Driver to Win Three Consecutive Editions of the Le Mans 24 Hours

Breitling for Bentley introduces two new timepieces dedicated to Joel Woolf Barnato (1895-1948), one of the most famous of the Bentley boys, who was also the first driver to win three consecutive editions of the Le Mans 24 hours (1928, 1929 and 1930.

The two exceptional champions, the Bentley Barnato and the Bentley Barnato racing chronographs are distinguished by their peerless performances and their resolutely out of the ordinary design. They feature ultra-sporty dials, including one with a highly original disc-type totalizer system. The understated and powerful case is topped with a broad bezel bearing a raised knurled motif inspired by Bentley control buttons. Equipped with transparent sapphire crystal casebacks, these top-class instruments reveal a truly unique vision through the reverse side, in the shape of an oscillating weight evoking the wheel rims of the new Bentley continental GT.

In terms of motorisation, they certainly have what it takes to win the race towards precision and endurance, thanks to a movement certified by the Swiss Official chronometer testing Institute (COSC), along with a “30-second chronograph” system that is unique in the world.

Incredible Bentley Boys
In 1923, Walter Owen Bentley sent one of his speed machines to take part in the first edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours. In 1924, the British firm created a sensation by winning the race with a Bentley 3 Litres – a feat that it accomplished four more times, in 1927, 1928, 1929 and 1930, the two latter victories being earned in a Speed 6. This was the era of the legendary Bentley Boys: Benjafield, Birkin, Davis, Rubin, Kidston and above all Barnato, the most famous of them all, a multi-millionaire diamond merchant. Gifted sportsmen, authentic amateurs, often fabulously wealthy and irresistible charmers, the Bentley Boys raced first and foremost for honour, fired by a taste for challenges. Dedicated as much to partying as to winning, they were to leave an indelible imprint on the Bentley spirit: an unmistakable blend of performance and luxury. In 2003, Bentley revived its glorious sporting past by sweeping the first two places in the Le Mans 24 Hours ranking.

BENTLEY BARNATO
Resolutely Bentley in terms of its design, the Bentley Barnato associates a generously sized case with fixed bezel featuring a knurled raised motif and red-rimmed sports counters – just like on the dashboards of the finest sports cars from the British carmaker. Totally Breitling from a technical standpoint, it combines a selfwinding chronograph movement chronometer-certified by the COSC with an ultra-efficient and ultra-legible “30-second chronograph” system. Its originality extends to the reverse side fitted with a transparent back serving like an open car bonnet to reveal a wheel-rim shaped oscillating weight.

Available with a black or silver dial enhanced by applied hour-markers and tone-on-tone counters with a refined spiral motif, the Bentley Barnato comes in steel as well as in a 500-piece red gold limited edition. It can be teamed with a leather, crocodile leather or rubber strap, or with the particularly sturdy and comfortable Speed bracelet.

BENTLEY BARNATO RACING
The Bentley Barnato Racing special series features a spectacular design that makes it the most original of all Breitling for Bentley chronographs. The pointer-type counters are replaced by a highly original disc-type counters system displaying the hours and minutes of the measured time by means of two red triangles. The openworked shape of the silver-toned discs is reminiscent of the steering wheels on the famous Bentley models that won the Le Mans 24 Hours race five times between 1924 and 1930 – thanks to Barnato and the other Bentley Boys.

The “30-second chronograph” serves to measure the best laps to the nearest 1/8th of a second. The oscillating weight inspired by the wheel rims on the new Continental GT provides a maximum of energy to the COSC chronometer-certified movement. Carved in steel for the standard version, the Bentley Barnato Racing takes on an even more exclusive aura in a 500-piece red gold limited edition.

An exclusive “30-second chronograph” system
Inspired by a patent filed by the founder’s son Gaston Breitling in 1926, the ingenious principle of the “30-second chronograph” is distinguished by its central hand sweeping around the dial in half a minute instead of the customary 60 seconds. This original layout provides readings of the measured times accurate to within 1/8th of a second.

Breitling for Bentley: Bentley GT Ice and Bentley GT Racing Ice

Swiss watch brand Breitling decorates its two iconic timepieces of Breitling for Bentley line with the shades of ice and making them new special all-white “Ice” versions.

This original and sophisticated appearance features an Ice White dial – an exclusive Bentley livery colour – teamed with a rubber strap in the same shade. The faces of these exceptional sports models, enhanced by rimmed counters, evoke the dashboards of the finest Bentley Grand Tourers. The bezel with its knurled raised motif is reminiscent of the characteristic control buttons of the prestigious British car maker.

In terms of the chassis, the Bentley GT Ice chronograph has a steel case with an all-polished finish, while the even more sophisticated Bentley GT Racing Ice version is distinguished by finishes alternating between satin-brushed upper surfaces and polished sides; and its caseback bears a medallion with the outline of the famous Bentley Continental GT, the epitome of power and elegance representing the quintessence of the Grand Tourer tradition.

These two watches are driven by the self-winding Breitling Calibre 13B chronograph movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC and equipped with a calendar displaying the day and date through a large twin aperture at 3 o’clock. The bidirectional rotating bezel serves to activate the “variable tachometer”, a world-exclusive Breitling feature. With the Bentley Continental Supersports, Bentley has created the fastest, most powerful and most agile production model ever. A concentrated blend of style and performance.

A sophisticated, muscular coupé echoing the British car-maker’s rich sporting heritage, stretching from the period of the legendary “Bentley Boys” and the 1925 “Supersports” – the first model to cross the 100 mph (160 km/h) barrier – to the victorious comeback on the Le Mans track at the start of the third millennium. In tribute to this superlative car, Breitling for Bentley has created a limited series named Bentley Supersports. A high-performance chronograph likewise combining the finest technology and functionality within opulent, sporting lines.

Crafted in steel and issued in a worldwide limited edition of 1,000, the Bentley Supersports special series carries a bezel adorned with an elegant raised and knurled motif evoking the characteristic design of Bentley controls. Beneath this ultra-sporty, powerful bodywork beats an exclusive Breitling for Bentley motor chronometer-certified by the COSC: a selfwinding chronograph movement with central 60-minute counter.

The latter is an original system enabling extremely clear reading of the minutes being timed, exactly like conventional time read-off thanks to the dedicated red arrow-tipped hand. It is complemented by a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and a central scale with hundredth of an hour or hundredth of a minute graduations.

In addition to its traditional fixed tachometric scale, the dashboard-style dial features a “variable tachometer” with circular slide rule. This world-exclusive Breitling-made device – contrary to the usual tachometers that cannot extend beyond 60-second periods – serves to measure average speed whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached. Breitling for Bentley 2010 Vintage One-of-a-Kind Grande Complication Pocket Watch – Tribute to Walter Owen Bentley

The Breitling for Bentley collection presents a new one-of-a-kind model, dedicated to the founder of the prestigious British car manufacturer. This Grande Complication pocket-watch will be unveiled at Baselworld 2010.

Each year, Breitling reaches a new peak in its art by creating a paragon of fine watchmaking named Bentley Masterpiece: a mechanical magnum opus combining tradition, performances and exquisite craftsmanship. The 2010 vintage is a pocket-watch combining two of the most sophisticated complications in the horological repertoire: a perpetual calendar (displaying the date, day, month, leap years and moon phases) that takes account of the quadrennial occurrence of February 29th; and a minute repeater striking the hours, quarters and minutes on demand.

The movement, based on a late 19th century blank of which Breitling found just a few examples in its workshops, comprises almost 700 parts. Its refined finishing – hand polishing, chamfering, and Côtes de Genève – is visible through a transparent caseback.

In tribute to Walter Owen Bentley, the cover of the 18-carat yellow gold case is adorned with an engraving depicting him at the wheel of one of his racing models. This portrait is accompanied by the famous “W.O.” initials by which the engineers and craftsmen of the British firm – like all devotees of fine automobiles – still refer to the much revered founder of Bentley.

Breitling for Bentley – Bentley GT & Bentley GT Racing – New Models (2009)

GT. Grand Tourer. These two initials stand for the exceptional breed of sports cars of which Bentley continues to build the finest and most powerful models, such as the Continental GT. The Bentley GT chronograph was fired by the same spirit of performance and exclusivity, starting with the size, which is more compact than the other models in the collection.

The dials of the Bentley GT are adorned with chromed counter rings and the distinctive Bentley “diamond quilt” motif applied to the upholstery of its sportiest models. On the engine side, the Bentley GT is equipped with a high-performance movement, chronometer-certified Breitling Calibre 13B with day/date calendar.

In terms of instrumentation, it is equipped like all Breitling for Bentley chronographs with a variable tachometer. Used in conjunction with the chronograph, this exclusive system makes it possible to measure average speed, whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached.

Giving a nod in the direction of motor sports, Breitling reinterprets its Bentley GT chronograph in an even more sophisticated version called “Bentley GT Racing”. While the case retains the more compact size that distinguishes it from the other models in the Breitling for Bentley collection, it features distinctive finishing alternating surfaces that are fine-brushed on top and polished on the side.

This subtle contrast is picked up on the Speed bracelet. A medallion on the caseback displays the silhouette of the Bentley Continental GT, the most powerful of all cars produced by the prestigious British manufacturer. As on the GT version, the dial is adorned with the “diamond-quilt” motif characteristic of the upholstery on the sportiest Bentley models.

Technical details

  • Movement: Breitling Calibre 13B, officially chronometer-certified by the COSC, selfwinding, high-frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), 25 jewels. 1/4th of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Day and date calendar
  • Case: steel. Water-resistant to 100 metres. Screw-locked crown. Rotating pinion bezel with variable tachometer (circular slide rule). Cambered sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides. Diameter: 44.80 mm

BREITLING for Bentley Grande Complication Bentley Masterpiece 2004 – One of a Kind Pocket Watch with Chronograph, Minute Repeater and Perpetual Calendar

This one of a kind grand complication watch was created in 2003-04. The Grande Complication Bentley Masterpiece was assembled on the basis of a century-old ébauche or movement blank from the Breitling archives. Over a year’s work was required to produce it. The Caliber 117 powering the Bentley Masterpiece is equipped with Minute Repeater, Perpetual Calendar and Chronograph functions.

BREITLING for Bentley Grande Complication Bentley Masterpiece 2004 - One of a Kind Pocket Watch with Chronograph, Minute Repeater and Perpetual Calendar

Not only does this mechanical masterpiece strike the hours, quarters and minutes (on request), but its perpetual calendar also indicates the date, the day of the week and the month – taking account of leap years – and even reveals the different phases of the moon during its rotation around the earth. Its single-pushpiece chronograph mechanism indicates 1/5ths of a second.

The finishing of this 19-lignes movement is extremely refined. The decorative “côtes de Genève” ribbing combines with circular-grained motifs; the surfaces of the components are drawn out with a file to create elegant parallel lines; the steel parts and bridges are meticulously hand-bevelled and their chamfer is polished,as are the screw-heads and the jewels. The spectacular beauty of this complex architecture is revealed through a transparent caseback.

The 18-carat gold hunter-type case is composed of six parts and adorned on the cover and back with a signature Bentley motif.

The Grande Complication Bentley Masterpiece watch was put on sale by Sotheby’s year end auctions in 2004, but this unique pocket was acquired by an American collector before the sales event.

BREITLING for Bentley GT Chronograph

The GT initials refer to the Grand Touring tradition, representing exceptional sports cars of which Bentley continues building the most beautiful models. The most powerful too, such as the new Continental GT with its 560 PS, a phenomenal 650Nm of torque and a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h). The Bentley GT chronograph was designed in the same spirit of performance and exclusivity, starting with its more compact size and its dial with contrasting totalizers reminiscent of the dashboard on Bentley Grand Tourers.

For the first time ever in the watch industry,Breitling has used metallic colors (in characteristic Bentley shades) for series production. The Bentley GT is also equipped with a powerful “motor”: chronometer certified Breitling Caliber 13B, complete with day/date calendar.
Like all the chronographs dedicated to Bentley, the GT version is endowed with a variable tachometer, another Breitling exclusive feature. Used in conjunction with the chronograph, this device enables one to measure average speed, whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached.

In much the same way as a slide rule, the variable tachometer is operated by rotating the external bezel, which drives a pinion and an arbor activating the inner bezel. This mechanical subtlety enables precise read-off of the measured speeds. The Bentley GT chronograph is available in steel, in steel with gold accents, in yellow gold, and in a limited series of 50 in white gold.

Technical details

  • Movement: Breitling Caliber 13B, chronometer-certified, selfwinding, high-frequency (28,800 vph), 25 jewels.1/4 of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Day/date calendar

BREITLING for Bentley – BENTLEY 6.75

BENTLEY 6.75: In the secret of its workshops in Crewe, England, Bentley continues to assemble by hand its largest engine, the 6.75 litre version that propels the luxurious Arnage limousines. In tribute to this know-how that is unique in the world, Breitling has designed the Bentley 6.75 chronograph, a timepiece providing the ultimate blend of tradition and performance, on a par with the engine after which it is named.

In addition to the chronograph mechanism, the Bentley 6.75 is equipped with a “large date display” calendar, distinguished by the fact that it shows the date through two separate tens and units indicators. This sophisticated mechanism is assembled in harmony with an extreme concern for reliability and precision, as confirmed by the highly sought-after COSC chronometer certification.

Breitling further matches these mechanical accomplishments with aesthetic refinement. Like all watches in the BREITLING for BENTLEY collection, the Bentley 6.75 chronograph incorporates some of the distinguished British manufacturer’s signature features, such as the knurled finish on the bezel inspired by the Bentley controls. The original motif on the caseback further reinforces the association.

Created for devotees of fine mechanisms, the Bentley 6.75 is available in steel or yellow gold. With the most demanding collectors in mind, Breitling has produced a limited series of 100 in rose gold and a series of 50 in white gold.

BREITLING for Bentley Flying B

A Bentley is far more than a car: it is a work of art, crafted with infinite concern for detail. Dedicated to the most prestigious of automobile marques, this watch from the Breitling for Bentley collection likewise asserts itself as a luxurious and sophisticated creation.

First of all through its case, endowed with cambered rectangular lines reflecting the elegance of a coupé or cabriolet model. Also through its generous yet elegant dimensions establishing a powerful presence on the wrist, as well as its play on angles and curves. The surprising nature of the Flying B stems not just from this rectangular design, the first “shaped” case in the Breitling for Bentley collection.

It is also distinguished by its original display mode featuring a jumping hour mechanism in which the hour hand is replaced by a disc at 12 o’clock. Minutes are read off in a more conventional way by means of a single hand placed at the dial centre. Meanwhile, the seconds are shown on an off-centred subdial at 6 o’clock. Like all models in the Breitling for Bentley collection, the n Flying B takes to the road with an exceptional motorisation: selfwinding Breitling Caliber 28B, officially chronometer certified by the COSC.
The dial of the Flying B constitutes a masterpiece of artistry and craftsmanship in its own right. Embodying unique know-how, it reveals a wealth of details such as the knurled motif inspired by Bentley instrumentation, and hour-markers sculpted from mother-of-pearl. Its play on reliefs and materials is enhanced by a subtle touch of colour echoed in the central part and in the jumping hour aperture. The slightly cambered dial profile required a show of considerable ingenuity by the artisans, as did the curving shape of the bevelled sapphire crystal, glareproofed both sides.

The caseback reveals the symbol that gave this exclusive timepiece its name: the legendary Bentley “Flying B” which served for decades as the emblematic insignia of these British-made cars. An emblem reminiscent of another legendary signature, the Breitling winged B.

Borne on the wings of this doubly prestigious renown, the Flying B is available in steel. It is also produced in a refined red gold version as well as in a series in white gold, the height of discreet luxury. It is fitted with an elegant overstitched strap or with a Speed bracelet.

BREITLING for Bentley Flying B Chronograph

The dial has been entirely redesigned in harmony with the spirit of luxury and refinement characteristic of all the creations dedicated to the prestigious British automobile manufacturer:hour-markers sculpted from mother of pearl; hollowed counters; colours inspired by the Bentley livery; and a knurled central motif matching the steel, red gold or white gold case.

A superb technical and aesthetic achievement, individually hand crafted by artisans at the peak of their art.
