BEDAT & Co

BEDAT & Co is a Swiss luxury ladies watch brand that was founded by Madame Simone Bédat.

Inspired by aesthetic traditions of the Art deco era with femininity in mind, a BEDAT & Co timepiece radiates elegance, functionality and beauty. Thanks to the unswerving collaboration with the best ateliers of the Jura Valley, BEDAT & Co reflects 500 years of genius horological mastery in the finest art of traditional Swiss watchmaking.

The superb attention to every detail during the crafting and design process brings each BEDAT & Co timepiece poetic beauty as well as functionality that captivates every successful, independently minded cosmopolitan woman.

BEDAT & Co channels the unique aesthetic vision and belief in reconciling comfort, emotion and function into a single entity for the wrist to captivate transformative women. This is very important, as BEDAT & Co differentiates itself from the majority of the industry, which creates smaller-scale men’s watches and markets these for women.

Aside from being the Pioneer of diamond set on stainless steel, BEDAT & Co uses the top grade diamonds, which are of Top Wesselton color (F-G) and clarity VVS to VS1. Pledged to pursue the highest standards of master craftsmanship, each BEDAT & Co timepiece is stamped with the prestigious A.O.S.C.® label, the ultimate symbol and guarantee of quality and ethics, certifying the Swiss origin of all components. All BEDAT & Co timepieces are covered by an official five-year international warranty.

Madame Simone Bédat, Founder of BEDAT & Co, started the brand due to a deep desire to pay tribute to women by designing timepieces dedicated to their busy lifestyle. Highly respected for her independence as one of the rare women in the male-dominated Swiss watch industry, Mme Simone Bédat made a commitment to craft her timepieces in line with the 500-year-old Swiss tradition and to do this she gathered the best Swiss craftsmen in order to deliver her extraordinary designs.

Having spent much of her life working at the very top of the Swiss luxury timepiece industry, Mme Bédat established BEDAT & Co in her native Switzerland (Geneva). She was determined that the company would focus on delivering her vision of a brand that was established by a woman, which was itself highly unusual at the time, that would embody the needs, aspirations, and desires of women at its very core.

Today, BEDAT & Co is a successful global women fine timepieces brand with over 166 strong Point of Sales presence in US, Europe, Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Middle East countries.

Bedat & Co A.O.S.C.® Certificate

BEDAT & Co has created its own quality label to guarantee the Swiss origin of all components and their manufacture. This certificate meets the most stringent manufacturing standards established by BEDAT & Co and forms an integral part of the guarantee. Each BEDAT & Co watch is manufactured and checked in accordance with the A.O.S.C.® (Appellation d’Origine Suisse Certifiée – Swiss Certified Label of Origin).

The criteria of A.O.S.C.® are:-
1. Each BEDAT & Co watch is produced and assembled in Switzerland with original Swiss components.
2. Assembly and quality control are carried out wholly in Switzerland.
3. The movements are produced and assembled in Switzerland.
4. The outstanding finish meets the following criteria:
– BEDAT & Co hallmark “figure eight ” identifies each component.
-The crown is stamped with the “SWISS A.O.S.C.® BEDAT & Co” logo.
-The internal casing rings are in polished metal.
5. Water resistance is tested to a minimum of 5 ATM.
6. The watch is guaranteed for 5 years against any technical manufacturing defects (battery, crystals, straps are not covered by the guarantee).
7. Each BEDAT & Co watch carries an individual serial number, which permits its origin and authenticity to be established.
8. Only approved BEDAT & Co dealers are authorized to provide the BEDAT & Co International Guarantee in accordance with BEDAT & Co instructions.

BEDAT & Co Collections

BEDAT & Co devised a global brand concept based on the powerful values of differentiation, timelessness, refinement and sophistication. The collection names were an integral part of this approach and were chosen in order to reinforce these values. Each number corresponds to a philosophy or to an aesthetic principle.

Within the watchmaking world, watch names are rarely consistent with the timepiece itself or with the brand. That is why the BEDAT & Co collections carry numbers.

Representing a unique case in watchmaking, this name system endows the watch lines with a genuine sense of consistency and unity. The numbers are easy to memorize and convey a universal and powerful symbolism.

The numbers do not follow on from each other and are not associated with any particular chronological order. The first BEDAT & Co collection is thus not called No 1, which was created well after No 3 and No 7.

No 1 Collection
Created in 2003, the No 1 Collection is square-shaped and curved at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. The figure 1 is often the symbol of man standing upright, of the beginning, of the point of departure, of the base. It represents the beginning, self-affirmation through action and matter. The 18th century French philosopher Pascal wrote that “the whole universe is contained within Oneness”.

No 2 Collection
The oval-shaped No 2 collection stands for union, for the meeting of two connected elements and most specifically in philosophy, for two complementary principles. It is a positive number in the Chinese culture and the ideograms often appear twice in conceiving brand names. “2” also stands for the Yin, a symbol of femininity and imagination. BEDAT & Co has indeed shown a great deal of creativity in revisiting its own identifying codes. The No 2 collection is both timeless and resolutely contemporary, two aspects that are complementary and indeed inseparably entwined within the BEDAT & Co philosophy. Embodying the quintessence of the brand values, the oval watch is unlike any other. It combines a set of matching characteristics: interior and exterior, pairs of colors, classicism and boldness.

No 3 Collection
Created in 1997, the No 3 collection features a “tonneau” shape that is curved at 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock. The number 3 symbolizes perfection and totality. Many religions use ternary symbolism: the Holy Trinity, the Wise Men and Jesus’ resurrection three days after his death are just a few of the thousands of examples in the Bible. The “three gems” are the pillars of faith for Buddhists. In the Kabbalistic tradition, three is the unity of all things, the mystery of intellectual initiation.

No 7 Collection
Created in 1997, the No 7 collection offers various takes on the rectangular shape, curved at 3 and 9 o’clock. The number 7 symbolized eternal life in Ancient Egypt, standing for a complete cycle. It lies at the core of many superstitions and also expresses various stages of maturity and passing generations. It represents thought, hindsight and awareness. Individuals are led to consider the impact of their actions. The number also conjures up the legendary wonders of the world.

No 8 Collection
The No 8 collection encompasses original round-shaped cases. The figure 8 is a universal symbol of perfection and infinity. It is the number of cosmic equilibrium, meaning the order of the universe, the harmony between the earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom. The figure 8 is the BEDAT & Co emblem. Symbolizing prosperity and luck, it also represents the hourglass and infinity.

Extravaganza Collection
Raising a notch in its creativity and artistic achievements, BEDAT & Co epitomizes its Art Deco spirit through the launch of its stunning haute joaillerie Extravaganza Collection. The Extravaganza Collection brings the spirit of refined classic inspiration and the elegance of discreet luxury, embodying the artistic crafts of traditional horological mastery and meticulous design. These exceptionally dazzling works of art eloquently express the inherent refinement of BEDAT & Co, giving life to its sophisticated timepieces.

The BEDAT & Co logo

The BEDAT & Co logo represents a figure eight, originally formed by the two “Bs” of Bédat & Bédat.

The figure eight is a universal symbol of perfection and infinity. It is the number of cosmic equilibrium, meaning the order of the universe, the harmony between the earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom. Within the Chinese culture, the meaning of the figure eight goes well beyond that of universal order, since it is a lucky number symbolizing prosperity. In Cantonese, “eight” is pronounced akin to “fa”, a pronunciation similar to the character meaning “to get rich”! It is often used to depict the hourglass, a sign of the passing of time.

This “figure eight” is also the company maker’s mark. It was registered on 10th February 1997 at the Precious Metals Control Central Bureau. Each part carries this mark, thereby guaranteeing its Swiss origin. Today, BEDAT & Co watches immediately stand out from the crowd, largely thanks to the figure that continues to appear on all models and in various guises especially BEDAT & Co engraving on the caseback.

Five-Year International Warranty

With the A.O.S.C.® certification, BEDAT & Co adapts a real quality approach. As a testament to the A.O.S.C.® claim, BEDAT & Co has total confidence on its products; thus the reason why the brand offers five(5) international years of warranty for all the timepieces, a groundbreaking move for the watch industry.

Bedat & Co Ref. 867 (N°8 Collection)

First launched in 2004, the N°8 collection regroups the “round in a cushion shape” watches by BEDAT&CO. The figure 8 – also the brand emblem – is extremely meaningful in many different cultures, symbolizing in particular eternal unity or prosperity. It also evokes the shape of the hourglass, itself a symbol of the flow of time.

Ref. 867 perfectly embodies the evolution in the appearance of BEDAT&CO timepieces since the arrival of William Devine as CEO in 2007. The brand is revisiting its classics and its codes in order to reaffirm the very foundations of its reputation: a pure design equally only by the complexity of its construction.

This new reference is the largest model in the N°8 collection. The crown integrated within the case is protected by a steel bridge linking the two pushers on the right-hand side of the case.

As with all BEDAT&CO watches, the crown of Ref. 867 is struck with the figure “ ” maker’s mark and the A.O.S.C. emblem: Appellation d’Origine Suisse Certifiée (certified label of Swiss origin). Both guarantee the Swiss origin of not only the components, but also of the expertise applied to each stage of production. Ref. 867 is equipped with a self-winding ETA 2894-2 movement.

Resolutely contemporary and sporty by nature, Ref. 867 carries its black dial with great distinction. The hour and minute counters, at 6 and 9 o’clock respectively, are framed by a steel-colored applied Bedat emblem.

This key element in the BEDAT&CO identity along with the hour-markers and hand all glimmer according to the way the light strikes them. The two main counters are also subtly highlighted by a guilloché motif, while the dial base itself features a smooth matt finish. The discreet seconds counter is positioned at 3 o’clock, while red and orange accents on the minute circle and main counters lend a particularly dynamic touch.

Bedat & Co Ref. 394 (N°3 Collection)

BEDAT & Co’s latest creation upholds the brand’s commitment to intricacy in craftsmanship and purity of style.

The development of the 394 timepiece is an important milestone in William Devine’s strategy for BEDAT & Co. He has taken a bold step into the future, exploring new territories in watch design, whilst remaining true to the values that form the cornerstone of BEDAT & Co. The 394 is the latest evolution from the N°3 collection and representative of the company’s belief in developing innovative timepieces inspired by Art Deco traditions with a contemporary expression.

The interchangeable feature of the 394 gives the design of this timepiece a unique and innovative twist. A simple yet ingenious mechanism incorporated into the strap allows the watch case to be removed and replaced with a stainless steel BEDAT icon, a symbol of luck, prosperity and logo of the BEDAT & Co company. Meticulous attention has been given to the aesthetics of this particularly feminine piece from the careful design of the dials, the choice of materials and the interchangeable watch case.

Sophisticated and pure, the tonneau-shaped case with integrated crown is delicately curved at 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock. The stainless steel watch cases boast four different dial executions and a further two exclusive dials have been designed for the watches featuring black or white diamonds.

As with all BEDAT & Co timepieces, the case and the crown of the 394 are stamped with the figure maker’s mark and the initials “A.O.S.C.” – Appellation d’Origine Suisse Certifiée (certified label of Swiss origin). They guarantee the Swiss quality of both the components and the expertise involved in each stage of production.

Bedat & Co Ref. 307 (N°3 Collection)

The N°3 collection encompassing the tonneau-shaped cases has contributed to forging the success of BEDAT&CO for the past 10 years. The Ref. 307 is entirely in tune with the aesthetic evolution instigated upon the arrival of William Devine as CEO. Elaborate design and pure style.

Ref. 307 is the first in the collection to feature this highly contemporary and distinctive tonneau shape. The result is a harmonious balance between the feminine curves of the case and the contemporary graphic design of the dial.

Ref. 307 has an extremely strong identity, distinguished by pure, pared-down lines. The dial sections feature hour-markers that are visually extended by discreet raised squares. The bezel and sapphire crystal are facetted at 6 and 12 o’clock to create a cambered effect and slender proportions. The dial base plays with the textures of the guilloché motif and the smooth minute circle. In a sophisticated emphatic touch symbolizing good luck and prosperity, the BEDAT&CO applied figure emblem is delicately placed at 8 o’clock. Its gentle curves enrich the dial lines to create a complementary effect inspired by Art Déco traditions.

The “cornflower” blue color of the alligator leather strap has been carefully chosen. Whatever the season, it ideally enhances a graceful silhouette with an original and resolutely feminine touch. All the BEDAT&CO straps are rolled-edged and hand-stitched by craftsmen in the Jura region, in accordance with the standards of the A.O.S.C. quality charter.

Ref. 307 is equipped with a self-winding ETA 2000.1 movement. Like each timepiece by the brand, the case of Ref. 307 bears the figure “ ” maker’s mark and is accompanied by an A.O.S.C. certificate, standing for Appellation d’Origine Suisse Certifiée (or certified label of Swiss origin). Both guarantee the Swiss quality not only of the components, but also of the know-how implemented at each stage of production.

Bedat & Co Ref. 207 (N°2 Collection)

Swiss watch brand Bedat & Co launches a new collection in a shape that is unprecedented in the brand range, the first such major introduction since 2004. This key new development unveiled at Baselworld 2008 confirms the new aesthetic direction adopted by William Devine in 2007. N°2 will now be the number used to refer to Bedat & Co oval watches.

In choosing numbers to name its collections, Bedat & Co has opted for powerful time-defying values that convey a definite sense of differentiation. N°2 is the symbol of reunion, of a set of two interdependent elements, and more specifically in philosophy, of two complementary principles. It is a positive number in Chinese culture and ideograms often appear in pairs for the conception of brand names. It sounds like the word “easy” in Cantonese. The number 2 also stands for Yin, the symbol of femininity and imagination.

Bedat & Co is reviving its own codes in an extremely creative manner. Its new N°2 collection is at once timeless and resolutely contemporary – complementary qualities that are inseparably entwined with the Bedat & Co spirit.

Ref. 207 is a watch on the move. The numerals appear to be floating around like feathers escaping from the dial. One of them has indeed succeeded, since the Bedat & Co “signature” figure “8” has drifted over to settle on the wristband lug, where it is highlighted by a precious metal in a color different from that of the case: yellow gold on the steel timepiece and white gold on the yellow gold version. This contrast is accentuated by the slightly raised hour-markers that are golden for the steel cases and silver-colored for the yellow gold cases.

The subtly cambered case middle will wrap itself snugly around even the daintiest wrists. Ref. 207 is presented here with a champagne-colored satin strap. Its classic oval shape exudes an original air of femininity. And if some people may see its shape as resembling that of a swing mirror, that is doubtless because a Bedat & Co watch is a reflection of the woman wearing it: at once sophisticated and pure, discreet and daring.

Loyal to the Art Déco traditions, collection N°2 is imbued with a love of fine design that extends to the smallest details. It is both timeless and resolutely contemporary. Representing the quintessence of the Bedat & Co values, it is distinguished by the purity of its style and by its intricate craftsmanship.

It embodies the emotion procured by well-mastered artistry of the kind that gives rise to exceptional creations. The N°2 collection is quite simply a natural and its first new expression, Ref. 207, is an eloquent tribute to feminine grace and sophistication.

First of all, while the oval shape of the N°2 collection can be found in Art Déco sketches, it is unlike that of any other timepiece. Moreover, Bedat & Co watches are immediately recognizable due to several stand-out features: the figure “8”, a symbol of prosperity and good luck is always highlighted; the luminescent hands are designed exclusively for Bedat & Co; and the inscription “Swiss A.O.S.C.” appears on the dial.

Each timepiece is stamped with the “8” maker’s mark and accompanied by an A.O.S.C. certificate, standing for Appellation d’Origine Suisse Certifiée (certified label of Swiss origin). Both guarantee the Swiss quality of not only the components, but also of the know-how applied to each stage in their production. Ref. 207 is equipped with an ETA 956.032 quartz movement.
