AVI-8 presents a new edition of its popular Hawker Harrier collection by presenting a new multifunction model offering dual time retrograde display, date and 24-hour functions.

As the name suggests AVI-8’s Hawker Harrier is a tribute to the legendary British combat jet developed in the 1960s. The new multifunction watch model is named after the famed Hawker Harrier test pilot John Farley.

Retired in 2006, Hawker Harrier was capable of carried out multiple missions including ground attack and reconnaissance. Moreover, it was provided with the vertical/short take off and landing facilities.

Renowned for his work in developing and testing the legendary Hawker Harrier, Farley also displayed his mastery of the aircraft when he captivated the world with the now famous “Farley Take Off”, a stunt he performed by hovering the Harrier then tilting the nose almost entirely vertically before applying full throttle to “rocket climb” away.

Remarkably, during his aviation career, Farley flew over 80 different types of aircrafts and was the first British pilot to fly the Mikoyan MiG –29.

Each detail of the modern and refined 44mm case has been carefully considered, with brushed and polished detailing throughout. The durable case is topped with a hardened mineral lens with anti-reflective coating.

Intricate design cues taken from the Harrier’s flight instruments are expertly and purposefully recreated on the Farley’s dial, with custom moulded cockpit inspired subdial frames and applied indexes coated with Swiss lume providing for a dial that is both innovative and legible.

This quartz watch is powered by a reliable and precise Japanese multifunction movement with a date, dual time retrograde display and 24-hour read-out.

Available in four versions – Stratosphere, Terrain, Regiment Blue and Night Sky – the AVI-8 Hawker Harrier Farley Multifunction watch is provided with a supple leather strap with military aviation-inspired detailing.

The new AVI-8 Falklands 40 Meca-Quartz watch has been created with the highest attention to detail and has features inspired by military and aviation design.

With 1,500 individually numbered units produced, each AVI-8 Flyboy Falklands 40 Meca-Quartz Limited Edition timepiece sold will contribute to the Royal British Legion and support those who serve and have served in the British Armed Forces and their families.

Impeccably balanced and legible, the dial features thick applied Arabic indexes with Swiss lume, framed by a concave metallic chapter ring. Stamped at the 6 o’clock position are the coordinates of the Falkland Islands, to remember those who served 40 years ago. Completing the dial is the iconic Royal British Legion two petal poppy on the seconds hand.

Measuring 40mm, a contemporary case with a serrated unidirectional bezel and aluminium ring insert offers a modern alternative to the traditional pilot’s watch. AVI-8 P-51 Mustang Tuskegee Airmen Chronograph Limited Edition

In association with Tuskegee Airmen Inc. (TAI), AVI-8 has designed a timepiece limited to just 300 pieces. The new AVI-8 P-51 Mustang Tuskegee Airmen Chronograph pays tribute to the distinguished men and women who were part of the US Army Air Corps’ landmark program to train African Americans to fly and maintain combat aircraft in WWII.

The 99th Pursuit Squadron

2022 marks the 80th anniversary of the activation of the famed 99th Pursuit Squadron which would become famous for being part of a collective of African American aviators known as the Tuskegee Airmen and Red Tails.

The 332nd Fighter Group flew P-51 Mustangs to escort the heavy bombers of the 15th Air Force during raids deep into enemy territory. The tails, noses and rudders of their planes were painted red for identification purposes, earning them the enduring nickname “Red Tails.”

AVI-8 has decided to support the work of the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. (TAI) as they focus on honoring the accomplishments and perpetuating the history of African Americans who participated in air crew, ground crew and operations support training in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

Each watch sold will contribute to the incredible work of the Tuskegee Airmen, including but not limited to their educational programs that help foster excitement and introduce young people across the nation to the world of aviation and science.

AVI-8 P-51 Mustang Tuskegee Airmen Chronograph Limited Edition

In commemorating the Tuskegee Airmen, AVI-8 has redesigned the P-51 Mustang Meca-Quartz Chronograph to highlight and pay tribute to their skillful flying of the P-51 Mustang in the many theatres of European air conflict during WWII.

Crafted from solid stainless steel, a fluidly streamlined 43mm case showcases a custom-built crown guard, with micro-detailing inspired by the P-51 Mustang’s engine exhaust. Completing the case is a bezel with an etched tachymeter scale topped by a scratch resistant sapphire lens with anti-reflective coating.

A clear and legible dial perfectly incorporates aviation elements drawn from the Red Tails’ P-51 Mustangs. The multi-layered dial with bold indexes and Swiss lumed hands is complemented by coloured minute tracks drawn from the nose art on the aircraft. AVI-8 Hawker Typhoon RB396 Sheila Chronograph Limited Edition in Partnership with the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group

Hawker Typhoon, the legendary British single-seat fighter-bomber was a powerful, potent ground attack aircraft that redressed the balance in mainland Europe during WWII. To support its legacy, AVI-8 has released the Hawker Typhoon RB396 Sheila Chronograph limited edition in partnership with the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group (HTPG).

Each timepiece sold will support the work of the HTPG as they restore Hawker Typhoon RB396, the only surviving combat veteran example of the type known to exist.

Measuring 42mm, the stainless steel case with knurled details on the pushers and crown has been expertly crafted for style and durability. A hardened mineral lens with anti-reflective coating provides a perfect view into the dial.

Its dial features bold oversized Arabic and baton indexes with Swiss lume, ensuring legibility. The sub-dials with instrument-style frames are inspired by the cockpit of RB396.

The watch houses a reliable Japanese chronograph quartz movement. Attaching the watch to the wrist is a comfortable, premium genuine leather strap with cross-stitched details inspired by the pilot’s seat in RB396.

The case back is engraved with the name “Sheila”, drawn from the nose art on RB396. The name was inscribed by RB396 pilot Frank Johnson to honour his wife Sheila.

This timepiece created in partnership with the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group comes in a custom canvas wrapped gift box. Each individually numbered timepiece is part of a limited edition of 800 pieces.

AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane Kent Automatic

The new AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane Kent Automatic watch series is a tribute to the 303 Squadron of the Royal Air Force.

For true military aviation enthusiasts, there are few squadrons as influential as the 303 Squadron. Also known as the 303rd “Tadeusz Kościuszko Warsaw” Fighter Squadron, it was formed in July 1940.

Led by Flight Commander John “Kentowski” Kent and equipped with Hawker Hurricanes, the squadron claimed the most victories during the Battle of Britain. The most effective Polish RAF squadron during the Second World War, it was disbanded in December 1946.

To honour their unparalleled achievements, AVI-8 has launched the Hawker Hurricane Kent Automatic with design details drawn from the iconic 303 Squadron.

The Kent Automatic is housed in a traditional pilot’s watch case measuring 43mm in diameter. Finely brushed surfaces provide a utilitarian charm whilst a domed sapphire lens offers a clear view into the dial. Completing the case is a cleanly engraved case back featuring the 303 Squadron emblem.

Offering legibility and a balanced aesthetic, the Founder’s Limited Edition is a true bicompax chronograph fused with vintage elements, such as cathedral style hands and a telemeter on the chapter ring. Completing the dial is a striking red poppy on the chronograph seconds hand as a symbol of Remembrance.

The perfectly sized and proportioned steel case measures 40mm in diameter. An “onion” style crown draws from trench watches in the early 20th century and became a quintessential feature later used in the first pilot watches. Topping the crown is a beautiful red two petal poppy encased in epoxy.

The Founder’s edition features a dependable Japanese meca-quartz chronograph movement that blends the best of both worlds – quartz accuracy and the crisp hand feel of a mechanical movement. A vintage inspired supple hand-stitched genuine leather strap ensures a comfortable and snug fit.

Comfortably sized at 40mm, the brushed and polished case features a unidirectional bezel and an elegant double domed hardened mineral glass with anti-reflective coating.
