Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic

Swiss watch brand Alpina has launched a re-edition of its Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic model.

Introduced in 2005, the Alpiner Extreme Regulator has accompanied the brand’s revival and which still today is helping it attain a new milestone thanks to its unique look.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic watch

In 2022, the Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic is primarily continuing the movement with a resizing of its case. The watch is now offered in a 41 mm diameter – compared to 48 mm previously.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic watch

The dial recalls the fine engine turning of more traditional timepieces. But Alpina has taken care to conserve its DNA and it is an exclusive pattern of triangles, symbolising the Alpine peaks, which now runs over the entire dial – unlike its predecessors where these famous triangles decorated the centre only.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic watch 2022

The superposition of triangles captures the sun’s rays to shine a specific light on the dial, thus enabling their reflections to mix and bring it life and texture. Produced in granite grey, reflecting the mountains from where Alpina comes from, this dial provides a perfect contrast with the blue-coloured hours and seconds counters over which luminescent hands turn.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic

This navy blue is found on the flange, the rubber grip of the crown and on the rubber textured strap. Integration of the strap, combined with the use of rubber, is a must for any adventurer. However, to allow for everyday use between two expeditions, the ergonomics of the strap has been revised to favour optimal comfort. The whole adapts perfectly to the shape of the wrist, remaining discreet without losing its character.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic

As for the case, the aesthetic signature of the Alpiner Extreme Regulator line, it has kept the qualities which have carved out its success.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic

The new 41 mm case is still as strong as ever. Waterproof to 200 meters, the cushion shaped steel case comes with a bezel with six screws spaced out in a triangle design and a crown protector at 3 o’clock balanced by a reinforcement opposite at 9 o’clock. As for the finish, the case is brushed and its corners polished, providing it with texture.

Alpina Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic

Limited to 888 pieces, the Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic still has the time-tested AL-650 calibre, the movement which has powered it since 2005.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda Limited Edition

In support of World Oceans Day this year, Swiss watch brand Alpina has launched the limited edition Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda. It is the brand’s first timepiece to feature a 100% recycled stainless steel case. This new Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic pays tribute to the highly symbolic Calanda, the first ship to fly the Swiss flag. Fitted to a recycled plastic wristband, Alpina’s new diver is available in just 300 units.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda Limited Edition

Steel is one of the world’s most heavily recycled materials, and is a central component of any sustainably-minded company. Manufactured by Thyssen Krupp, the PuReSteel recycled stainless steel has the highest level of quality currently available on the market, and is primarily sourced from the maritime shipping industry.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda Limited Edition

The PuReSteel used in the Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda is sourced from dismantled maritime carriers. A tribute to Switzerland, the Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda takes on the imagery of the first ship to have ever flown the Swiss flag, dismantled in 1953.

Calanda was a cargo ship built in 1913, which flew under Switzerland’s flag from April 9th, 1941. It was the very first ship to be recorded on the Swiss Boat Register, assigned Basel as its home and registration port.

Evocative of the rounded curves of a porthole, the Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda’s recycled stainless steel 42 mm case is polished with a satin finish to the same high standards as a traditional stainless steel case.

The unidirectional rotating notched bezel is made from traditional stainless steel with a brushed finish and a 60-minute scale, often used to time immersion and increments. The central hour and minute hands embedded with vintage beige luminescent matter count down the time, complete with a seconds hand with a red triangle tip – the Alpina logo.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda Limited Edition

A matte black dial encircles the whole, studded with applied indexes with the same vintage beige luminescent detailing, and a date window at three o’clock. The Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda is water-resistant up to 300 metres thanks to its full screw-in case back and crown.

The steel case back is embellished with the Seastrong collection’s hallmark motif: Alpina’s beloved mountain peaks, layered under a trident in a nod to the watch’s deep-sea personality. With its AL-525 automatic movement, the Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda boasts 38 hours of power reserve.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda Limited Edition

In line with the company’s eco-friendly policy, the new Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda watch sits atop a recycled plastic (PET) wristband in harmonious grey and black.

Each watch comes in a case entirely made from recycled plastic, alongside a single-page warranty and a certificate of authenticity printed on FSC Recycled-certified paper, thereby cutting back on the amount of paper and ink used.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Calanda Limited Edition

The user guide, meanwhile, has gone paperless, and is available in digital format via a QR code printed on the box’s inner packaging, here too made from recycled plastic bottles (rPET).

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage – New Model with Green Dial and Matching Rubber Strap

Alpina has released a new version of its Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage watch. This 42mm model takes inspiration from the 10 Seastrong, the brand’s very first Super Compressor.

One of the Maison’s most iconic timepieces, the Super Compressor 10 Seastrong divers watch was first introduced in 1969. Water-resistant up to 200 metres, it was anti magnetic and featured Super Compressor trademark casing: two crowns, one of which controls the internal rotating bezel, used to measure the passing of time on a scale of one to 60 minutes. In 2016, Alpina launched its Seastrong Diver Heritage range in a tribute to the historical design.

For the new version released in 2022, Alpina opted for a green color dial inspired by the underwater life and biodiversity. A glossy, radiant finish scatters light evenly across the face in a glow reminiscent of sunshine reflecting off the surface of the water.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage - New Model with Green Dial and Matching Rubber Strap

This mirror-shine effect serves to further enhance the different shades of green used while improving clarity of the hour and minute hands. Alpina also included a trio of large hands to ensure the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage is functional and genuinely usable in action. Each of the three hands is luminous, and the minute hand is topped with a generous arrow pointing up to indices that glow just as brightly.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage - New Model with Green Dial and Matching Rubber Strap

Immersion times are calculated using the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage’s black bi-directional rehaut, which can be adjusted using the upper crown positioned at the two o’clock mark. The timer can be set for dives for up to 60 minutes. Positioned opposite the minute hand, it instantly counts time spent under water, or any other time span divers may like to work with, such as remaining oxygen time or decompression limits.

The second crown is set above the four o’clock mark and can be used to change the time. These two screw-down crowns prevent any mishaps when handling the watch once the time and rehaut have been set.

Polished and brushed on the sides, the 42 mm steel case has a water-resistant up to 300 metres. The steel caseback is engraved with Alpina’s beloved Alps and embellished with a trident.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage - New Model with Green Dial and Matching Rubber Strap

Equipped with a Self-winding with a high frequency of 28’800 alt. /h, the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage watch has a power reserve of 38 hours.

The watch comes with a new green rubber strap that is sand-, sea salt- and corrosion-resistant.

Alpina Startimer Collection, New Generation Models with 41mm Diameter Cases

Designed for aviation enthusiasts, the Alpina Startimer collection has been revived a complete overhaul, taking it back to its origins with a new design inspired by the pilot watches created by the brand at the beginning of the last century

The new models feature a new case design, new bezel, new hands and a brand new 41mm diameter. Presently, the new series includes two models: the Startimer Pilot Automatic and the Startimer Quartz Chronograph Big Date.

With three new models each, they feature a blue, black or green dial, a steel or black PVD-coated case, and finally a steel or top-stitched calfskin leather bracelet.

Alpina Startimer Collection, New Generation Models with 41mm Diameter Cases

Founded in 1883, Alpina was present during aviation’s pioneering days, and has become a benchmark for professional pilots’ watches. Over the first half of the last century, Alpina was the official supplier of military aviation watches to air forces on the continent. These instruments had to meet strict requirements, they had to be extremely precise and offer the ultimate shock-resistance. Furthermore, Alpina pilot watches were mostly equipped with an anti-magnetic case, and high-contrast dials with luminous hands and numerals for instant legibility.

In 2022, Alpina returns to the original design of its aviation watches, and gives its Startimer collection a new 41mm case, the carefully considered ergonomics of which resemble the brand’s first military timepieces. This size offers the perfect compromise between the more generous size of 44mm, and the 40mm version (which remains in the collection).

A new bezel has also been designed to accompany this new case, with its typical notched profile, symbolic of the period. It was designed in the early days of aviation, to make it easier to grip with gloves on. The famous Alpina red triangle is engraved at 12 o’clock, facing the twelve-hour index marker which also adopts the same geometry.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 41mm

The crown, also especially designed to revisit the original aviation styles, is positioned at 3 o’clock and displays a fluted “onion” profile, of a more discreet size. Screwed down, it ensures that the case is perfectly waterproof, guaranteed to 100 metres.

Finally on the back we see the traditional engraving that accompanies all Startimer pieces. This one features an aeroplane about to fly over a mountain, accompanied by the vintage version of the Alpina logo, as it was at the time.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 41mm watch case back

The hands have also been revised. Initially a leaf shape, they have regained their cathedral inspiration with this larger body filled with luminous material, ending with a finer tip that enables the index markers to be read more precisely. The seconds hand has been refined and preserves the identity of all Alpina timepieces: a triangular counterweight, the emblem of the brand.

These hands point to Arabic numerals in a smaller font, which contributes to clearer and sharper legibility, in conjunction with a more open 41mm dial.

The minutes hand has a “railway track” look, similar to a railway line encircling the dial, with the five-minute intervals distinguished by a luminous marker opposite each index marker – on the Startimer Pilot Automatic model, this is accompanied by Arabic numerals every five minutes.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 41mm

For this occasion, the Startimer Pilot Automatic has a new date window at 6 o’clock, unlike the previous version where it featured at 3 o’clock. Hours, minutes, seconds and the date are powered by the FC-525 automatic movement, thus continuing the tradition of pilots’ watches. With its understated, sporty and elegant aesthetic, the new lines come in three variations.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic with Black dial and steel bracelet

The first, with a black dial, is designed entirely in steel: case, bezel and three-link bracelet, alternating between polished and satin-finish surfaces. The hands as well as the white-coloured index markers encourage perfect legibility, with a modern and functional aesthetic for a piece designed for an everyday lifestyle.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 41mm watch with black dial

The second version with a black dial and a steel case opts for a raw-touch black calfskin leather strap, adorned with top-stitching in a similar tone to the index markers – a vintage off-white reminiscent of the heritage this version is inspired by.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 41mm watch with blue dial

The third version flaunts a trendy blue dial, combined with a steel case, all set on a brown calfskin leather strap with off-white topstitching. The final detail that will be appreciated by collectors: this vintage strap is trimmed in red, the same colour as the Alpina logo on the counterweight of the central seconds hand.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date 41mm

The new Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date maintains its fundamental details, namely its large date and its bicompax chronograph. Ideal for calculating flight times, the latter enables times to be measured to the tenth of a second, and over twelve consecutive hours. Positioned at 6 o’clock, the large date is displayed in two separate windows, one for the tens and the other for the ones.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date 41mm with blue dial
The Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date is available in three versions. The first one focuses on robustness, with a steel bracelet, steel case and a black dial with two large luminous hands.

The second one pairs an olive green dial with a black PVD-coated steel case, reminiscent of a military khaki fibre that will delight fighter aviation enthusiasts. Beige hands and index markers, as well as the luminescent material, echo its brown calfskin leather strap, featuring off-white topstitching with a vintage accent, in a chromatic balance that demonstrates Alpina’s attention to detail.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date 41mm with blue dial

The third offers a brand new petrol blue dial, with white hands and index markers for perfect legibility. Set on a brown calfskin leather strap with off-white topstitching, its steel case creates a perfect contrast, bringing a resolutely modern combination to life. Very trendy, young and dynamic, this variation will appeal to flight enthusiasts and urban explorers alike.

Powered by the AL-372 quartz movement, it guarantees an autonomy of at least four years.

Alpina Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic

Swiss watch maker Alpina has launched a new line of chronographs which draws its sap from the heart of the Alpine forests with its lakes and mountains.

Alpina Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic watches

Back in 2021, Alpina probed its community about creating three timepieces of a sustainable nature, made using existing components and produced as part of the Community Watch project, officially presented last 11 December on the occasion of the International Mountain Day and in support of the Salomon Foundation, which helps mountain professionals who have suffered accidents as well as their families.

Inspired by the success of these watches, and above all that of the Alpiner4 Chronograph “Granite” model, Alpina has decided to introduce two other models in the same vein.

When Alpina decided to produce three new timepieces to mark its eco-responsible commitment, its community suggested 5,900 different names for them. And hundreds of variations of cases, straps, dials and hands.

The Alpiner4 Chronograph “Granite” is one of the names that emerged as the winner from this outpouring of enthusiasm. Evoking Alpine granite, this timepiece features a stainless steel case fitted on a solid steel bracelet and a light-blue dial, inspired by Alpine lakes. This acclaimed model is now being included in the collection as the “Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic” to meet the demand of its community.

Alpina Alpiner 4 Chronograph Automatic with Light Blue Dial

Harnessing the spirit and inspiration of the initial model, Alpina is completing its new Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic line with two other variations. The first inherits the feature of its elder sibling: a strong steel 44 mm case waterproof to 100 metres with an engraved back, anti-impact and anti-magnetic, sapphire glass, steel strap, bi-directional rotary bezel and 24-hour graduated flange.

Alpina Alpiner 4 Chronograph Automatic with Dark Grey Dial

But use of the “granite” colour is pushed to the limit, with a brand new grey sunray dial. With the colour shade varying with the position of the sun, it allows the chronograph’s red minute hand to stand out providing perfect readability for extra accuracy and increased reading comfort.

Alpina Alpiner 4 Chronograph Automatic with Dark Grey Dial

The third version reconnects with the Alpine forests, thanks to a fir green, sunray, lively and contemporary dial. To complete the sylvan metaphor, the piece is worn on a cork brown, calfskin strap with off-white overstitching.

Alpina Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic with Dark-Green Dial

Like the two other models, this version has luminescent steel hands and is driven by the AL-860 movement, automatically wound, with 28,800 vibrations per hour and guaranteeing 55 hours of power reserve.

Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 Limited Edition

In 2022, Alpina is renewing its partnership with the Freeride World Tour for the 5th consecutive year. To celebrate this collaboration Alpina is revealing an exclusive limited edition, the Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022, produced in 100 pieces, to the delight of aficionados of mountain slopes and snow sports.

Now the most demanding freeride skiing and snowboarding competition ever known, and attracting the best athletes from across the world, the Freeride World Tour will be celebrating its fifteenth anniversary in 2022.

Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 Limited Edition

After fifteen seasons of challenges, lines to create with ever-increasing inventiveness and technical mastery, and snow-covered mountain slopes which are more impressive with each descent, this time, the Freeride World Tour boasts a new stage in Spain, as well as a new format for the Qualifier Tour.

As is customary and to celebrate the renewal of its collaboration with the Freeride World Tour, Alpina is presenting a dedicated limited edition, which this year is called the Alpiner Quartz Chronograph and which will be produced in only 100 pieces.

Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 Limited Edition

A descendent of the famous Alpiner4, created by Alpina in 1938 and bringing together for the first time the 4 key features of a sports watch – anti-magnetic, shock resistant, waterproof and made of stainless steel – the Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 proudly pays tribute to it by reproducing these fundamental principles, to which it has added a chronograph.

Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 Limited Edition

A sporting complication par excellence, it is differentiated on the black dial by three counters enhanced by a silver circle, in whose centre the hands turn, covered in a luminescent material, echoing the hour and minute hands.

At 12 o’clock, instead of the famous Alpina red triangle – which finishes the seconds hand here – the Freeride World Tour logo sits proudly. Representing decidedly and obviously alpine peaks, its natural place is assuredly on this time piece, the Alpiner collection being, since Alpina began, dedicated to the alpine world.

Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 Limited Edition

A 42 mm steel case houses everything, fitted to a three-link alternation of satin and polished links, echoing it. On the back of the watch, freeride fans can admire the legendary Bec des Rosses engraving, alongside the Freeride World Tour logo and the limited edition number X/100.

Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 Limited Edition

The Alpiner Quartz Chronograph Freeride World Tour 2022 is driven by a quartz movement with autonomy of four and a half years, depending on use. This calibre is nearly totally shock resistant and guarantees chronometric accuracy far greater than that of a mechanical movement, for a fraction of its price. This movement also offers a date, a functional additional and useful for everyday use.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Limited Edition Watch in Collaboration with Freeride Champion Markus Eder

Alpina has released a limited edition AlpinerX Alive designed by freeride champion Markus Eder.

An extreme freerider and world champion of the Freeride World Tour 2019, Markus Eder has also been named among the watch brand’s team of ‘Alpinists’ for almost two years. This year, to kick off the season much anticipated by winter sports enthusiasts, the Italian athlete has designed a limited edition of 100 of the famous Alpina smart watch, the AlpinerX Alive.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Limited Edition Watch in Collaboration with Freeride Champion Markus Eder

Thirty-year-old skier Markus Eder hails from South Tyrol in Italy and is regarded as a role model in the freeriding world.

To celebrate their collaboration and kick off the 2021/22 ski season, Alpina and Markus Eder have designed an exclusive 100-piece AlpinerX Alive limited edition, to the delight of watch collectors and freeriding fans.

Appreciative of the exceptional and almost infinite playground the mountains provided him with from an early age, Markus now pays a very special tribute to them, while conveying a powerful message.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Limited Edition Watch in Collaboration with Freeride Champion Markus Eder

Adorned with a logo representing three Alpine peaks at 12 o’clock, an elegant grey dial reveals a map of the world filled with red and raised designs, denouncing the danger currently facing the planet – this rich and bountiful Mother Earth – now caught in the stranglehold of global warming.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Limited Edition Watch in Collaboration with Freeride Champion Markus Eder

To reinforce its eco-responsible approach, the timepiece has been mounted on a vegetable leather strap, one of the first of its kind in the world of watchmaking, made from recycled apple waste. It also draws on the athlete and friend of the brand’s own ‘logo’.

As a little extra personal touch, the water-resistance mark has been signed by the Italian freerider. Characterised by subtle contrasts and shades of grey, luminescent silver-tone hands echoing the hour markers complete the dial, which is housed in a 44 mm steel case topped with a bidirectional bezel.

Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, this watch features a new generation heart rate sensor developed by Philips Wearable Sensing, plus GPS and activity monitor, among many other functions.

These new features are offered in addition to the perpetual calendar, second time zone, chronograph, sleep tracker and personalised notifications. All of this is now available on a new high resolution AMOLED touch screen.

Its rechargeable battery provides up to seven days of complete autonomy. This model uses the Alpina Smartwatch app and sends data to the watch in real-time to help you improve your performance.

Alpina Heritage Collection: The Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic and the Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic

Alpina’s Heritage watch collection combines the best of the brand’s watchmaking know-how with the timeless aesthetics of pioneers in the conquest of the land and sea.

Founded in 1883, the iconic Swiss manufacture has built its reputation on creating watches that are water-resistant, shock-resistant, anti-magnetic and rust-proof. It is this pioneering vision put forward some 138 years ago that still enables Alpina to be the benchmark for the “tool watch”, designed for explorers of the deep sea and the skies.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic

For divers, Alpina presents a reinterpretation of its famous Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic. The fifth timepiece from this successful line rightly recalls that being passionate about the sea requires efficient, accurate, legible and robust instruments.

Water-resistant to 300 metres, this new 42 mm design with steel case has no room for novelty or unnecessary complications, but the moving inner flange lets you measure your immersion time in hours, minutes and seconds.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic

Practical and timeless, its black lacquered sunray-brushed dial features gold plated luminescent hands, creating the contrast required to make it easy to read, even in the low light of the deep sea.

As with any authentic diver’s watch, and in order to ensure it is water-resistant to 300 metres, the two push-buttons (movement winding and time setting at 4 o’clock, adjustment of the movable flange at 2 o’clock) are screwed in. The Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic’s engraved case back also reaffirms its nautical vocation.

Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic

As an update this vintage look, Alpina has equipped its creation with the AL-520 movement, a modern automatic calibre with 38 hours power reserve.

Similarly, the traditional hesalite glass has been replaced with an anti-scratch sapphire glass, meaning that the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage Automatic is now as at home in the sea as it is in the urban jungle.

The Alpina timepiece also comes with two straps, one in brown calfskin leather and the other in beige topstitched rubber.

Inspiration: 1921– Alpina Military Watch, 1921

Alpina became a renowned producer and supplier of time instruments for military pilots, and has been for the first 50 years of the last century. Alpina was the official supplier for military aviation watches to continental air forces and since then the brand has carried on the tradition of manufacturing reliable and precise pilot timepieces.

Alpina_Military_Watch_1921

Early aviation pioneers had strict requirements: their instruments had to be extremely precise and provide ultimate shock resistance. In addition, Alpina’s pilot watches were mostly equipped with an anti-magnetic case, highly contrasting dials with oversized luminous numerals and luminous hands for instant readability.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic

As far as flying is concerned, Alpina has also expanded its Heritage designs with the new Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic. The piece was modelled on original creations from the 20s. This new variation adds to the existing collection with blue and beige tones that evoke the sky and the historical counters used by aviation pioneers. Inside the 44 mm diameter case beats an automatic movement with 38 hours power reserve, driving three hands and the date at 3 o’clock.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic

Alpina has kept the original look of its Twenties timepieces by sticking with the same Arabic numerals and luminescent beige hands as the dials from the era. Their generous proportions help make them easy to read, even when flying.

For long-haul pilots, Alpina has also given the watch a 24 hour dial. At 12 o’clock, as well as at the tip of the seconds hand, you can find the manufacture’s symbolic triangle, representing the Alpine peaks. The final finishing touch is provided by an “onion” crown, the standard in the last century, designed for optimum grip, even with flying gloves on.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic

The push-button at 4 o’clock opens the Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic’s steel back. Known as the “officer’s case back”, the system allows the AL-525 automatic movement to be admired through the transparent case back.

This Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic with blue calfskin leather strap will be limited to 288 pieces.

Inspiration: Alpina Diver “10 Seastrong”, 1969

Launched in 1969, the Alpina Diver “10 Seastrong” was a professional diving watch with a 17-jewel automatic self-winding caliber. The “10 Seastrong” featured two crowns, one of which was used to determine the decompression time through a 1-60 min rotating bezel. The “Seastrong” was water-resistant to 200m and anti-magnetic.

Alpina_Diver_10_Seastrong_1969

Because air supply is always limited, time spent under water is extremely precious. To ensure the hours, minutes and seconds can be easily read, and as a reminder to divers to return to the surface in good time, product designers not only provided their diving wristwatches with striking illuminated dials and hands, but also incorporated a useful rotating bezel.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date

With specific reference to air travel, Alpina is introducing three new Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date designs and marking a new phase by adapting two leading complications in fine watchmaking to quartz technology: the chronograph and the large date.

Alpina’s iconic Startimer Pilot range offers timepieces are tailored to pilots, offering all that flying requires: resilience, readability and precision.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date

The three new Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date watches fall within this framework. Their large 44 mm cases feature a compax chronograph, accompanied by a large date at 6 o’clock.

This is a rare complication in fine watchmaking. It enables you to display the date on two separate discs, one for the tens, and the other for the units. The technique also allows for wide format windows that make reading the date as easy as can be.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date

With an autonomy of 4 years (48 months), each of the designs features an engraved case back, large hand-polished hands, luminescent Arabic numerals, 10 ATM (100 metres) of water resistance, a calfskin leather strap, two push buttons and a seconds hand finished with Alpina’s signature red triangle, inspired by the brand’s Alpine roots.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz Chronograph Big Date

The first luxurious option features a rose gold-plated case that houses a radiant navy blue dial embellished with three black counters and rose gold plated hands. It comes with a brown calfskin leather strap with off-white topstitching.

The other two affordable editions feature steel cases. The first has a clandestine feel inspired by night flying and features a midnight blue dial with black counters, emphasized by a complementary black calfskin leather strap with off-white topstitching.

Setting the second steel version apart are three silver snailed counters that really stand out against the deep navy blue dial for improved readability.

Alpina Alpiner4 Automatic New Models

Swiss watch brand Alpina has expanded its iconic Alpiner4 line by adding two new versions. Both incorporate the clean aesthetic of the original designs, allowing 4 pieces of essential time measurement information to be displayed: hours, minutes, seconds and date.

The two new dials are totally exclusive. They have been adorned for the first time with horizontal lines and enhanced by a sunray-brushed finish to diffuse the light over their entire surface.

With this latest aesthetic development, Alpina continues in its quest to achieve perfect readability, creating a pattern that ideally diffuses the light. Whether recessed or raised, every surface catches it differently and guides it towards the hour markers, crown and date. Helping to open-up the dial and make it easier to read, this technique adds a third dimension to a dial that was until now a flat surface.

The two new variations share the same 44 mm diameter, luminescent applied hour markers and luminescent hour and minutes hands. The seconds hand ends with a red triangle shaped counterbalance, symbolising the Alpine peaks where Alpina comes from.

Alpina Alpiner4 Automatic watch, stainless steel version with grey dial

As for the movement, each piece is powered by the same AL-525 automatic calibre, perfectly protected within its stainless steel case, which ensures the new Alpiner4 Automatic is resistant to a magnetic field of 4,800 A/m (Ampere/metre). This shield provides total resistance to everyday harm from magnetic fields; as one of the objects most frequently kept near a watch, a mobile phone produces only 2 A/m, for example.

This same 44 mm case has also been designed to absorb the most violent of shocks, like suddenly dropping the watch on a hard surface from a height of one metre.

Alpina Alpiner4 Automatic watch, stainless steel version with grey dial

Bold and contemporary, the first version can be identified by its forest green dial and flange. Mounted on a versatile stainless steel strap, collectors are sure to approve of the alternating brushed and polished finishes on each of its three links.

The second variation draws on the vintage quality of the brand, which was founded in 1883. It features a grey dial reminiscent of the rocky Alps, where Gottlieb Hauser and his rope partners laid the foundations for the modern sports watch. As at that time, it features a leather strap with off-white topstitching.

Alpina Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic Limited Editions

To celebrate the World Ocean Day on 8th June 2021, Alpina released two new limited series – one for women and one for men – of its eco-responsible watch, the Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic. Not only does this line feature an environmentally friendly case, strap and packaging, it also symbolises the Brand’s commitment to associations fighting to protect the environment.

Introduced in 2020, the Alpina Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic not only brought a breath of fresh air to the Brand’s diving watch collection, but also launched the Brand’s groundswell of support for more responsible, environmentally friendly watchmaking. Widely adopted by a new generation of divers, surfers and sea lovers, this creation presents a very contemporary look.

Alpina Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic limited editions

This line and its name were inspired by the encounter and collaboration between Alpina and the watch journalist Bernard Werk in the Netherlands four years ago. Personally involved in the preservation of the oceans, he co-created the concept and the name “GYRE” with fellow journalist Jorrit Niels, in reference to the giant circular ocean currents – and the reuse of “ghost” fishing nets from the Indian Ocean.

The case of this diving watch is made up of 70% plastic debris from ghost fishing nets collected in the Indian Ocean (and of 30% glass fibre, thus forming an ultra-resistant and lightweight whole).

As for the strap, Alpina has developed an eco-responsible NATO-type made from recycled plastic bottles. A second strap is supplied with the men’s model, this time made from “apple leather”, one of the first “vegetable leathers” used in the watch industry.

Each version is delivered in a new-generation giftbox, also made entirely of recycled plastic. It contains a single guarantee and certificate of authenticity sheet printed on FSC Recycled paper.

Alpina Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic limited editions

The instructions for use have been dematerialised, further reducing the weight of the case and the use of paper and ink. It can be accessed via a QR code printed on the lining of the box, which is also made of recycled plastic bottles (rPET).

These two new limited editions feature new shades of blue, a colour with multiple variations that continues to inspire Alpina designers.

Alpina Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic limited editions

On these 44 mm and 36 mm men’s and women’s models, which are water-resistant to 300 metres thanks to their screw-down crowns, the idea is to offer a striking contrast between the darkest seabed, where the light can no longer penetrate, and the surface waters which, depending on the region of the world, range from intense blue to the most sparkling turquoise.

The black dial features a turquoise minute track with silver luminescent markers, so that the time can be read even underwater in reduced light. A detail that Alpina collectors will not fail to notice: the counterweight of the seconds hand, the famous Alpina red triangle, has been made exclusively for this model with the same turquoise tone.

Alpina Seastrong Diver Gyre Automatic limited editions

The unidirectional 60-minute graduated bezel, made of steel with a blue PVD treatment, gives pride of place to this colour, a symbol of the great depths, where the sunlight no longer reaches. Markers for each ten minutes are placed on it.

Black in appearance, they are in fact luminescent and will enable the wearer to determine the time of immersion or decompression by adjusting the bezel oppositethe two large luminescent hour and minute hands.

The NATO-type woven strap is the perfect synthesis of the colours expressed on the watch, with a black central band and a turquoise edge. The second strap delivered with the men’s model is entirely black, reproducing the look of leather but in a vegetal way, for a more urban and classic watchmaking look.

Each model is equipped with the AL-525 calibre, offering 38 hours of power reserve, and will be exclusively limited to 288 pieces.

Alpina Alpiner Quartz Chronograph

Swiss watch brand Alpina presents a two-pusher compax chronograph with a quartz caliber. This is a new line for Alpina. Never, until now, had the Geneva-based company offered a Quartz Chronograph version of its famous Alpiner. It is a new offering that follows in the footsteps of the legendary Alpiner4, born in 1938 – a watch that is antimagnetic, shock-resistant, water-resistant and made of stainless steel.

Alpina Alpiner Quartz Chronograph

Strengthened by this heritage, the three new Alpiner Quartz Chronograph timepieces feature a large 42 mm steel case, luminescent hour and minute hands (central as well as for the chronograph), and a seconds counter at 3 o’clock with a red hand, recalling the sporty vocation of the piece.

Alpina Alpiner Quartz Chronograph

As always, the discreet Alpina logo, symbol of the Alpine summits, stands out in the form of a red triangle as a counterweight to the central chronograph hand.

Alpina Alpiner Quartz Chronograph

As for the movement, the choice of a quartz calibre offers the new Alpiner Quartz Chronograph some exclusive advantages. The first: an exceptional longevity, with an autonomy of four and a half years, depending on its usage.

Alpina Alpiner Quartz Chronograph

Secondly, quartz offers almost total resistance to shocks. The AL-373 calibre is the latest quartz movement to be integrated into Alpina’s collections. As such, it benefits from the company’s long experience in this field, guaranteeing a chronometric precision far superior to that of a mechanical movement, for a fraction of its price. Finally, this movement offers a date at 6 o’clock.

Alpina AlpinerX Smart Outdoors Limited Edition

To celebrate the renewal of its partnership with the Freeride World Tour for the fourth consecutive year in 2021, Swiss watch brand Alpina revealed an exclusive AlpinerX Smart Outdoors limited edition delivered with a strap made of recycled material from Alpina’s advertising banner from the Freeride World Tour 2020.

Last November, Alpina renewed its partnership with the Freeride World Tour in 2021 for the fourth year running. Sharing the same values and passion for adventure, Alpina and the Freeride World Tour have been working together since 2018, helping freeride athletes achieve their goal of mastering some of the most challenging lines the mountains have to offer.

Alpina AlpinerX Smart Outdoors Limited Edition

As the official partner of the Freeride World Tour, Alpina is also directly supporting three Freeride World Tour competitors, namely the French athletes Juliette Willmann and Victor De Le Rue and the Italian Markus Eder. This year, the competition started in Andorra from February 19th to 26th, before continuing in Fieberbrunn, Austria and in Verbier, Switzerland.

Alpina AlpinerX Smart Outdoors Limited Edition

In 2021, to celebrate their partnership, Alpina and the Freeride World Tour have designed an exclusive AlpinerX Alive Smart Outdoors limited edition of 40 pieces.

Alpina AlpinerX Smart Outdoors Limited Edition

The watch is delivered with an extra strap made of recycled plastic from Alpina’s advertising banner from the Freeride World Tour 2020, which was located at the entrance of the Verbier resort. Traditionally, the final round of the Freeride World Tour takes place in the Swiss ski resort, on one of the world’s most difficult venues to ride, the Bec des Rosses. Not to waste any material, Alpina decided to use in the most effective way: cutting the advertising banner into slices to create 40 unique straps to reinforce this limited edition’s attachment to freeride.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Online Community’s Top Four Models

After a pre-launch through an online campaign last spring, Alpina unveils the AlpinerX Alive models that have been highly acclaimed by its community. Indeed, they are now available for sale.

Alpina has once again demonstrated the strength of its online community. On introducing the new AlpinerX Alive between May 3rd and June 2nd last year, the Brand gave fans the chance to customise their own model in choosing from over 1’500 configuration options.

Among more than 1’500 design options, 499 configurations were carried out by 48 countries, to develop more than 1’920 AlpinerX Alive timepieces.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Smart watch

Of these 499 configurations, some combinations have achieved great success: an ultra-sporty red version, a bold and sleek “full black” variation, an urban-inspired design with flashes of blue, as well as a more vintage option combining a black dial and a beige strap.

The first two models (€ 995) share a red or black rubber strap and fiberglass case, while the last two (€ 1,095) come with a leather strap and a steel case. Each model will be delivered with an additional velcro strap.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Smart watch

The first model, with its sporty red design, features a blue dial, a flange, hands and a red strap. Given its vibrancy and ultra-lightweight fibre glass case, this is the sportiest and most dynamic piece within this product line.

The “full black” version strives to be more discreet and adaptable, for those who want a connected watch to monitor them at work and during leisure time. Both the dial and the rubber strap are black, just like the hands. The navy blue bezel provides a hint of colour and subtle contrast.

As well as being the dominant colour of the third model, blue is one of the most fashionable tones for watches at the moment. Combining various shades, the red touch of the hands and the strap’s topstitching is suggestive of the urban and sporty heritage of this design.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Smart watch

Finally, the fourth model clearly illustrates the determination of Alpina’s community not to let go of the vintage trend. This AlpinerX Alive presents a traditional steel case with a beige calfskin leather strap featuring white topstitching that echoes the hands and index hour markers, in perfect contrast to the black dial.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive Smart watch

The AlpinerX Alive benefits from solid experience with respect to smart watches, from the now famous Horological Smartwatch dating back to 2015, to the very first AlpinerX, released in 2018.

The “Alive” version includes a new generation heart rate sensor developed by Philips Wearable Sensing, as well as built-in GPS, not to mention VO2 max and hydration. These new features are offered in addition to the perpetual calendar, second time zone, chronograph, activity monitor, sleep tracker and personalised notifications.

All now available on a new high resolution AMOLED touch screen. The rechargeable battery provides up to seven days complete autonomy.

As part of the pre-launch campaign in spring 2020, the purchase of an AlpinerX Alive involved donations of 25 Euros being made to the Wings for Life charity, which supports people with spinal injuries, most of whom have become disabled, in regaining all or some of their mobility. As a result, a total of 42,000 Euros was donated to Wings for Life.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Launched on May 3rd, the Alpiner X Alive is now in store. The six models embody an alternative vision of the connected watch by Alpina: urban, sporty and with high added value in terms of technology. Combining the beauty of traditional watchmaking with an AMOLED digital screen, it presents a detailed overview of the wearer’s athletic performance and lifestyle. Features of this new Swiss Made smartwatch include: GPS, heart rate monitoring, a chronograph and a personalised training programme.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Dedicated to men, this versatile timepiece with its sophisticated horological design and advanced capabilities adapts to any environment. By launching six models at the same time, Alpina wants to provide sporty urbanites with the best option for them, whether they prefer the modern, sporty or classic look.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

In 2015, Alpina was already the first brand to launch a Swiss Made connected watch, the now famous Horological Smartwatch. Design, development, production, assembly, control: Alpina succeeded in creating a connected, intelligent watch that fully satisfied the Swiss Made criteria.

Each model then relies on a common driving force, a concentration of advanced technology that Alpina has been patiently developing since 2015, over generations of smartwatches. The current version is the most advanced with pioneering work carried out on its software and embedded sensors.

This new smart watch comes with two major technological breakthroughs. Firstly, heart rate monitoring, achieved by integrating the very latest Philips Wearable Sensing sensors. Your pulse is taken from your wrist and measured around every 10 seconds in “Workout” (exercise) mode. Special notifications are also issued if the AlpinerX Alive detects an abnormal heart beat.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Secondly, integrated GPS. This new functionality records your run or walk, combining the information with your heart rate so that it can be analysed using the Alpina Smartwatch app for iOs and Android. To help ensure each session takes place in optimum conditions, the AlpinerX Alive even shows you the weather!

The Dynamic Coach from Alpina is designed to help balance out your activity level when no two days are alike. The personal assistant suggests a range of exercises in relation to your performance, accompanied by recommendations for improving your daily life and muscle tone, as you’ll discover by using the app each day.

This personal assistant relies on measuring a large number of variables that are analysed in real time: sleep quality, heart rate measures, activity tracker, etc.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

To have the watch display all this information on its new high-resolution AMOLED touch screen, simply touch the screen or press the crown. The latter also allows you to view the last five messages received through selected apps, in addition to call, message and email notifications.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Featuring two broad hands hovering over a digital screen, the stylish design reinforces Alpina’s commitment to quality Swiss Made watches embracing the best smart technology around. The latter relies on the AL-284 movement developed internally, equipped with a rechargeable battery and offering an average seven days’ autonomy depending on usage. In addition to its intelligent functions, it provides perfect synchronisation of the time and date, a second time zone and a chronograph.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Setting the tone, straps for the new AlpinerX Alive come in blue, red, grey, brown and beige. Everyone can get the look they want to suit their personal preference: neo-vintage, ultra-sporty or casual chic. The mixing and matching of hands, dials and straps allows for the most complementary combinations.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

The matte finish dial is enhanced by luminescent hands and index hour markers (white), index hour markers between 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock, while large Arabic numerals designate 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. At 12 o’clock, you’ll find the Alpina symbol, a white triangle on the bezel representing the Alpine peaks.

With regards to materials, you can choose between rubber and topstitched calfskin straps. The bidirectional bezel is available in black PVD coated steel or natural steel. The 45 mm fibreglass case is as light as it is durable. Finally, the AlpinerX Alive is water-resistant to 100 metres and like any Swiss Made watch, topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Now, GPS and Bluetooth have an antenna each. The Bluetooth antenna, which points downwards, is largely controlled by Alpina. The GPS antenna, which points upwards, is much longer. The longer the antenna, the more precise it is… but the more sensitive it is too. So Alpina created a bespoke antenna, which it made as long as possible but in perfect isolation, allowing the AlpinerX Alive to pick up at least nine satellites. It is a complex development, especially with the touch screen; this seemingly commonplace technology has presented its share of challenges in terms of dial / touchpad distance, insulation with the bezel, water-resistance, etc.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

For the heart rate sensor, a bespoke lens was created to go on the back of the watch. Too thick and it affected the heart rate measurement. Too thin and it became too fragile to be water-resistant. Philips has a strong presence in the medical industry, but had never had to focus so keenly on miniaturisation and precision. Together, it took Alpina (in Switzerland) and Philips (in Holland) nearly two years to develop the sensor for the AL-284 caliber. It was also necessary to develop a case and a strap that kept the sensor next to the skin at all times.

Alpina AlpinerX Alive

Finally, with the MMT team (Manufacture Modules Technologies SA), Alpina developed exclusive algorithms (such as the Workout mode), while drastically reducing power use – especially that of the heart rate monitor – so as to achieve one weeks’ autonomy, which is unprecedented for this type of product.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition (Reference AL-525BBG4SH6)

For over 50 years Alpina is an official supplier to various air forces. The company has specialised in meeting the requirements of pilots at work by delivering steadfast resistance, unfailing precision and perfect readability. This year, the Swiss watch brand presents the new limited edition Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic with a new design and a new case, in addition to its famous hunter case-back.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch

The Startimer Pilot Heritage is well-known among collectors. In 2015, Alpina paid glorious tribute to the heroes of aviation with its cult manual winding 50 mm Startimer Pilot Heritage watch, limited to 1,883 pieces. It came complete with a hunter case-back, an historic hinged case back that opened with a click to reveal the Swiss Made mechanics of the calibre inside.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch caseback view

The new Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic watch comes in an ultra-resistant 44 mm steel case. Thanks to this new limited edition of 1,883 pieces, Alpina is returning to the origins of large diameter pilot watches.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch

Presented against matte black, the hours and minutes stretch out in luminescent beige, carefully chosen to replicate the shade that was used on vintage dials. Large hand-polished steel hands in the same luminescent shade hover over a 24-hour counter designed with long-haul flight in mind.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch

Collectors are bound to appreciate the vintage touches that reveal just how much care Alpina took in drawing on vintage watches. Firstly, the “Alpina” logo features in the original font used by the Geneva-based brand founded in 1883.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch

Then, there is the legendary Alpina triangle, symbolic of the Swiss peaks. Located at 12 o’clock, it helps differentiate between “II” and “I”, 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock respectively, during flights. The watch is also distinguished by the red counterbalance on the large seconds hand, hovering over the date display at 3 o’clock.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch

As for the case, the hunter case-back makes its big return. Decorated with a delicate perlage pattern, it reveals the sapphire crystal through which the Swiss Made AL-525 movement can be seen, a high frequency calibre oscillating at 28,800 beats per hour.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Limited Edition watch

The Brand has also revived the grooved design for the crown at 3 o’clock, making it easier to grip, even when wearing gloves.

Finally, the brown calfskin strap is embellished with topstitching in the same vintage beige as the hands. As the watch develops a patina over the years, each piece takes on a life unique to its owner.

Alpina AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier

Swiss watch brand Alpina unveils its brand new smartwatch for women, the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier, available exclusively onlineand limited to 500 pieces. Proven technology with intelligent and customisable features is housed for the first time within Alpina’s famous sports watch for women, the Comtesse. This timepiece boasts a discreet digital display at 6 o’clock that shows a set of customizable notifications on demand.

With the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier, the brand founded in 1883 has applied the latest smart technology to a timeless classic in the form of a feminine and sporty chic watch. Limited to 500 timepieces, the watch is exclusively available online.

Alpina AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier smart watch for women

Algorithms embedded in the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier allow for some seriously smart features, like your recommended hours of sleep based on previous nights, activity level required to achieve your goal weight, suggested sports to play, alerts to get you moving or encourage you to relax (depending on your heart rate) and plenty more besides. All these features are then reviewed, analysed and collated within the dedicated Alpina Smartwatch app, available for free download and compatible with iOSand Android.

Alpina chose quartz technology for its AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier calibre. This means that unlike nearly all smartwatches with lithium-ion batteries, the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier’s battery is rechargeable and offers up to seven days of autonomy, depending on use.

Alpina AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier smart watch for women

By integrating the monitor developed by Philips Wearable Sensing, the user’s heart rate can now be taken straight from the wrist for improved accuracy and measured in the moment. In standard mode, the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier measures the pulse rate every minute. In “Workout” (exercise) mode, it’s roughly every 10 seconds.

The same sensor can also be used to accurately monitor your activity, health and physical fitness. It uses an algorithm that extracts and processes this data, taking into account body movement and ambient light to provide very accurate results.

Alpina AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier smart watch for women

At first glance, there is almost nothing to differentiate this Comtesse from another, given its curvaceous 36.5 mm steel case in different shades with alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces, steel strap supplemented by a blue rubber strap and a delicate navy blue dial adorned with nine diamonds. This stylish and elegant piece is ideal for everyday wear.

One tap on the crown and the ingenious AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier momentarily reveals selected information on the digital display positioned at 6 o’clock, such as heart rate, breathing exercises, activity tracker, notifications, weather, second time zone and chronograph, among others. Lightly press the crown to switch from one function to another. It is simple, intuitive and instant. As soon as you have looked at the desired information, the digital screen returns to standby mode and is once more invisible to the naked eye.

Alpina AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier smart watch for women

An everyday companion, the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier can be configured down to the smallest detail. Even the order in which notifications are displayed can be customised. More than just an accessory, this timepiece is an everyday companion, worn on the wrist.

All the notifications offered by the AlpinerX Comtesse Glacier are customisable and connected to most of the popular apps: Mail, Messages, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, WeChat, Viber, Uber, KakaoTalk, Pinterest and Spotify.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm

Swiss watch brand Alpina expands its Startimer collection by adding a new 40mm watch. The Startimer Pilot Automatic model, which belongs to this flagship Alpina collection, now comes in a new 40 mm diameter version, already on sale in five readily available references.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm watch collection

Identified by a 44 mm rose gold-plated or PVD coated steel case within which features a date counter and three hands, the Startimer Pilot Automatic range has now had its characteristic features replicated in a new 40 mm diameter watch. Being more restrained, the latter opens up new prospects for the Startimer collection.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm watch collection

Being more universal, it has also become unisex; many women already wear 40 mm watches every day, a diameter long adopted by men, but which now benefits them both. For these new 40 mm models, Alpina has preserved the essence of the Startimer Pilot Automatic range: open dials with large luminescent hands for telling the time at night, a date display at 3 o’clock and a long seconds-hand sweeping over a timer with index markers every 5 minutes.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm watch collection

In this new timepiece, index hour markers at 12 and 6 o’clock have been replaced by luminescent horizontal indexes that are easier to distinguish, especially when flying at night, with “II” and “I” referring to 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock respectively. Midday always features the vertical red triangle, the Brand’s Alpine symbol, which can also be found at the end of the seconds hand. Finally, the screw-down crown at 3 o’clock has kept its delicate ridges for improved grip.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm watch collection

As for the movement, Alpina remains faithful to its mechanical self-winding AL-525 calibre, which promises a power reserve of 38 hours, protected by a steel case-back engraved with Alpine peaks and offering guaranteed water resistance to 100 metres.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm caseback

In response to demand from the many collectors that have helped make the Startimer Pilot Automatic so successful, the Brand has revived the five iconic designs that forged the legend: a rose gold-plated case with a grey dial and a brown calfskin leather strap, two steel versions with “Navy Blue” or white dial on a black calfskin leather strap, plus one in PVD coated steel on a black calfskin leather strap.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm

The final design combines a rose gold-plated case with “Navy Blue” dial on a black calfskin leather strap. This model perfectly captures the “aeronautical” spirit of the Startimer, drawing on the “nautical” bronze tones of the on-board fittings and naval blue, here replicated in the “aero” fuselage of the Startimer.

Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic 40 mm watch stainless steel case

These five new pieces are available now, starting at 895 euros (recommended retail price).

Made for diving, the Seastrong Diver Comtesse Quartz has all the requisite features: guaranteed 300 m water resistance, graduated unidirectional bezel, screw-down caseback and crown and broad luminescent hands.

The new Seastrong Diver Comtesse Quartz may be sporty at heart, but it has its glamorous side too. Alpina is offering four different variations, three steel or rubber straps and mother-of-pearl dials (blue or white) revealing iridescent reflections reminiscent of the surface of the ocean.

Each piece displays its Alpina DNA through the Maison’s iconic red triangle on the seconds hand counterbalance, as well as at 12 o’clock on the unidirectional bezel and on the dial. On the caseback, you’ll find an engraving specific to Alpina diving watches, incorporating Alpine peaks and the trident of the deep sea.
