SULTANA WATCHES
Sultana is a Swiss watch brand created by Mr. Paul Gaston Schwarz in 1937 in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Sultana has been awarded by several events including the winning of the Grand Prix at the Internationale de Thessalonique in Greece in 1939.
In the quest for the ultimate perfection of its creations, Sultana joined forces with Le Phare, one of the oldest watch manufacturers in Switzerland in order to benefit from its world-renowned expertise. After this merger in 1950, the company was renamed Le Phare-Sultana SA.
One of the first SULTANA models to be manufactured was a mechanical watch with a single movement that could simultaneously display two time zones. The dial included both Turkish and Arabic hour symbols.

A magnifying glass on the date window located at 6 o’clock facilities the reading of the date. The push-button located at 2 o’clock, beside the winding-crown, allowed for separate adjustment of the two sets of hands. This was indeed a strong reflection of the technical expertise at that time.
In 1991, Hong Kong based Renley Watch group (Free Town Watch Products Ltd) acquired Le Phare-Sultana SA.
Sultana watch collections are named after Greek mythological characters, for example: Poseidon, Nereus, Prometheus, Argus, Adriadne, Aeneas, Amazons, Heracles, Iris, Galatea, Medea, Galatea, Diomedes, Cassandra, Horatio, Calypso, Morpheus, Scylla, Selene, Eros, Ares, Hestia, Apollo and etc.
In 2014, Sultana celebrated the 75th anniversary of its Grand Prix award in 1939 and launched a special edition.
