Swiss luxury watch brand Oris has launched a new laser dial variant of its ProPilot X Calibre 400 model. The shimmering dial of this watch was produced using an innovative lasering technique never applied in watchmaking before.
As it moves, the titanium dial of the new ProPilot X Calibre 400 Laser changes colour, from blue to green to violet, like the colouration in iridescent beetles.
Everything on the dial has been created using laser technology. For the logo, indices, minutes track and dial text, Oris used another laser process that creates a three-dimensional effect, so that it almost looks as if these elements have been applied in the conventional style.
The laser technique was developed in partnership with a research lab affiliated to ETH Zürich and applied to the titanium dial under the guidance of Oris engineering department, led by Richard ‘Ipy’ Siegrist.
The new Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 watch was first introduced in 2022. It has a titanium case, bezel and crown, and a three-link titanium bracelet.
Driven by the brand’s in-house five-day automatic movement, the Laser dial version of this 39mm watch comes without a date window.
The mechanical Oris Calibre 400 offers better-than-chronometer accuracy and class- leading levels of anti-magnetism and reliability, backed by a 10-year warranty and 10-year recommended service intervals.
