Swiss watch brand Certina presents two new modern reinterpretations of its iconic DS SUPER PH1000M watch.
First appeared in 1970, the CERTINA DS SUPER PH1000M set the benchmark in the field of waterproof watches. It was used with great success in the Tektite II programme, which saw five aquanauts living and researching in a diving base on the seabed for up to four weeks.
Now CERTINA presents two modern variants of this iconic timepiece: a limited edition of 1000 pieces featuring a bright orange dial, plus an unlimited version in black. These professional grade diving watches house an advanced automatic calibre with an 80-hour power reserve and NivachronTM balance spring. The DS SUPER PH1000M offers exceptional water resistance to 100 bar (1,000 metres).
The new duo continuing this legacy captures not only the extreme water resistance but also the design from back then. The distinctive fluted and unidirectional bezel with a black aluminium ring is just as eye-catching now as it was then.
The stainless steel case features a gently curved barrel shape measuring 43.5 mm x 42 mm. At 9 o’clock there is a helium outlet valve for use on professional dives. The fluted, raised design of the rotating bezel not only makes it easy to handle, but also gives the watch visual depth. Wide indices and hands with Super-LumiNova® coating ensure maximum readability in the dark.
Two versions are available: The version with the orange dial is limited to 1000 pieces, while the black version with orange accents is available as standard in the collection.
The watches have a choice of a black rubber strap or a textile strap made of #tide ocean material®.
Equipped with a magnetic field-resistant NivachronTM balance spring, the self-winding Powermatic 80 calibre offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours.
The new DS SUPER PH1000M is supplied in special premium packaging and will be available at official CERTINA retailers worldwide from November 2023.
