With the new Vanguard Damascus collection, Franck Muller pays tribute to an ancient the art of metallurgy.
The Vanguard Damascus is made of austenitic (non-magnetic) stainless steel, allowing the movement to function unhindered. Thanks a special process that Franck Muller mastered in-house, the design is naturally revealed when immersed in an acid bath, giving rise to a timepiece that is unlike any other in the collection. Therefore the design of each Vanguard Damascus is unique and spontaneous.
In addition to the “time only” Vanguard Damascus Steel Models, Franck Muller is offering two variants from this series: Damascus Steel Racing and Damascus Steel Skeleton.
The Vanguard Damascus “three hands with date” model has an automatic movement, which drives centrally placed hour, minute and seconds hands as well as the date display placed at 6 o’clock.
The Racing variant features a skeletonised automatic movement with the hour, minute, seconds and date function.
The skeleton version houses a hand-wound movement with seven days power reserve. It has two central hands for displaying hours and minutes, a subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock for the running seconds, and a power reserve indicator near 9 o’clock.
For the Vanguard Damascus Skeleton, Franck Muller has not only designed the Vanguard case in Damascus steel, but also the entire skeletonized movement, revealing the whole mechanism, thanks to unique bridges design in Damascus steel.
Each of these timepieces comes with a grosgrain leather strap featuring Damascus steel buckle. In addition to the natural Damascus steel finished models, this collection also includes variants featuring blackened surfaces.
