Dressed in a Curvex CX case for the first time, the iconic Giga Tourbillon watch by Franck Muller has been fully redesigned with a completely new movement. This high-complication timepiece stands out with the massive 20 mm tourbillon complication that occupies half of the skeleton dial.
For the new Curvex CX Giga Tourbillon watch, all the components were rethought, redesigned and remanufactured.
The tourbillon, the barrels and the power reserve counter are placed above the dial to create a mesmerizing depth effect. In order to reduce the weight of tourbillon cage, materials such as titanium are used.
The skeletonized movement is placed above a lacquered, sunray-brushed dial which allows a clear distinction of the barrels and tourbillon cage.
In addition to the traditional dial on the front, the Curvex CX Giga Tourbillon has two other dials. The second dial is placed under the balance wheel to highlight the Giga Tourbillon mechanism.
The third dial placed on the back of the timepiece features an aperture allowing visibility of the central wheel and third wheel. The back dial also displays a beautiful artistic drawing of the movement.
The movement has been designed with four barrels to ensure sufficient power to drive the gear-train and its massive tourbillon. In comparison, traditional tourbillons generally are powered by only one or two barrels. The new movement offers 4 days of power reserve, which can be monitored on a counter placed at 12 o’clock.
The Franck Muller Curvex CX Giga Tourbillon watch is available in Carbon, Stainless Steel & Gold, and Rose Gold versions. Various dial colour choices are also offered.
