The Waldhoff Seawolf is a diving watch inspired by USS Seawolf SSN-21, the mighty nuclear-powered, fast-attack submarine of the United States Navy. Known for its speed, precision and high-performance, this submarine is named after Seawolf, a predatory fish found in the Arctic, North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans.
The Waldhoff Seawolf features a robust stainless steel case measuring 43mm in diameter. Water-resistant up to 300 meters, this diving watch features a ceramic bezel-ring for measuring elapsed time.
The case spotlights polished chamfers and brushed surfaces. It also has a helium release valve, a safety mechanism widely preferred for saturation diving. As a tribute to USS Seawolf SSN-21, the stainless steel case-back has a 3D relief of a submarine.
This timepiece is equipped with the Miyota 9130 automatic calibre manufactured in Japan. This 28,800 vph, 26-jewel self-winding movement offers a power reserve of 40 hours. In addition to the hours, minutes and seconds, the Waldhoff Seawolf displays the date at 6 o’clock and power reserve at 12 o’clock.
At present, Waldhoff is offering three Seawolf models: Everfrost, Icefall and Blackwater. Fashioned in a multi-layer design, the dial has vertical Geneva stripes decoration and applied index hour-markers. All the hands and indexes are enhanced with Swiss luminous coating.
Everfrost has a deep blue dial with a matching colour bezel-ring. Icefall comes with a white dial and black bezel-ring, where as Blackwater features black counterparts. The power reserve hand placed under the 12-H hour index ensures an excellent space management without disturbing the symmetry of the dial.
