Swiss luxury watch brand OMEGA celebrates the 75th anniversary of its Seamaster collection by introducing the new Summer Blue edition.
This new series is comprised of special blue dial references of the seven iconic Seamaster models: Aqua Terra 150m, Aqua Terra 150m Worldtimer, Seamaster 300, Seamaster Diver 300M, Planet Ocean, Ploprof and Ultradeep.
Seamaster was launched in 1948 to coincide with OMEGA’s 100th anniversary. Since then, this iconic collection has produced various types of timekeepers, ranging from classic dress watches to professional diving models favored by undersea adventurers.
In 1957, the iconic Seamaster 300 diving watch was launched. Wave after wave of extraordinary models followed, each offering exciting new designs, innovative technologies, and even greater levels of water resistance.
Today, OMEGA is able to test every one of its water-resistant watches in a real underwater environment, thanks to the brand’s industry-leading facilities and the certification standards set by METAS (the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology).
A common attribute of all watches from the OMEGA Seamaster Summer Blue Edition is the blue color of the dial, used in greater or lesser degrees to reflect the water resistance of the respective models.
Another common feature is the commemorative Seamaster logo on the case-back. It depicts a trident-bearing Poseidon and two seahorses: OMEGA’s 1956 original and the brand’s current design.
Introduced in the 1950s, the iconic Seamaster logo was designed by Jean-Pierre Borle. Representing the entire OMEGA Seamaster collection, it exudes the collection’s seafaring heritage, refined style, and robust spirit. For this symbol, the designer took inspiration the sculpted representations of Neptune’s Seahorse on each side of the iconic gondolas in the city of Venice.
