MING presents 37.05 Series 2, the brand’s second generation moonphase watch.
Introduced in 2021, 37.05 was the first moon-phase watch from MING. The new 37.05 Series 2 model comes with an anthracite metal dial with sunray brushing and star-shaped holes, which represent luminous stars that appear and disappear with the changing phases of the moon.
The watch features a sapphire upper dial for the hour indices, moon mask, and inversion. It also holds luminous HyCeram stars on its upper and lower surfaces to add further visual depth to the piece.
The 37.05 Series 2 houses the Sellita SW288-1 hand-wound movement which is heavily reworked and finished in a familiar MING style since its debut in the 27.01 Ultra Thin.
Bridges are skeletonized, matte-blasted and anthracite coated, with a contrasting portion on the main train bridge in circular-brushed rhodium. The movement offers 40 hours of power reserve. It also displays the date through a window at 6 o’clock.
The 37.05 Series 2 is now the fifth watch of the 37-series. The case design is complex to machine because of its multiple compound curves – such as the line from case side to lug tip.
The 38mm diameter case in stainless steel is difficult to machine because of its multiple compound curves. Spotlighting an alternating polished-brushed finish, the watch also wears larger on the wrist thanks to a significantly wider dial opening than previous cases.
Limited edition of 500 pieces, the MING 37.05 Series 2 has a retail price of CHF 4,950. Orders open on 11 July 2023, with a 50% deposit due at the time of order and the balance on delivery – which is expected to begin Q4-2023.
