Swiss luxury watch brand Perrelet presents the Turbine Chrono Only Watch 2023 to support the 10th edition of the prestigious charity auction, organized to raise funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research.
Especially crafted for the occasion by Perrelet, the Turbine Chrono Only Watch is a one-of-a-kind piece. This exclusive chronograph, developed by Perrelet, adopts an outstanding new design whose details stand out in a bright light blue hue, one of the official colours of the event.
This particular shade dyes the turbine depicted on the dial alternating with anthracite grey, the central chrono seconds hand, the tachymeter scale on the flange, and the stitching of the black fabric strap, closed by a folding clasp. The watch also has the date function at 6 o’clock.
First introduced in 2013 and followed by a second edition in 2017, the “Turbine Chrono” confirms the Maison’s innovative and unconventional approach to interpreting watchmaking complications.
Thanks to the in-depth watchmaking know-how of the Perrelet team, this chronograph features a unique and distinctive display for measuring short time intervals, which perfectly blends the Turbine’s eye-catching design with an easy-to-read chronograph function.
Instead of the conventional two or three chrono counters, this display boasts a single central counter in the form of a rotating sapphire crystal disc that allows the minutes to be recorded.
Pressing the pusher at 2 o’clock activates the central chrono seconds hand, which shows the time on the scale surrounding the dial. After 60 seconds, the red arrow pointer registers the elapsed minute on the central graduated rotating disc, marked by a 15-minute scale highlighted in red. At the end of the measurement, pressing the push-button at 4 o’clock stops and resets the chronograph to zero.
The transparent sapphire crystal central counter offers a full view of the emblematic Turbine, which dominates the scene with its hypnotic movement, generated by the slightest movement of the wrist. The Turbine consists of 12 black anodised aluminium blades and 5 tungsten counterweights, which ensure perfect balance and allow this captivating component to slow down and return to its resting position.
This component, which plays a leading role in the Turbine models, is the result of a patented technology that required a long and painstaking fine-tuning process.
The case of the ‘Turbine Chrono Only Watch’ is made of grade 2 brushed titanium and is therefore extremely light and comfortable on the wrist despite its generous dimensions of 45 mm in diameter and 16.04 in thickness.
The watch stands out with the traditional fluted case band, the vertical satin-finished triple lugs, the prominent, grooved crown and the black PVD treatment that embellishes the flat, flared bezel and the rectangular pushers.
The Perrelet Turbine Chrono Only Watch 2023 houses the mechanical self-winding movement, calibre P-361. It has a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 42-hour power reserve.
The open-worked oscillating weight, mounted on ball bearings, is rhodium-plated and embellished with the P of the logo. Impeccable finishes also for the rhodium-plated bridges with circular graining decoration, which can be admired on the case back through the sapphire crystal porthole, personalised with the inscription “Unique Piece – Only Watch 2023”.
The Turbine Chrono Only Watch will be delivered to its proud owner in a special tactical box in the same shade of blue as the dial and personalised with the Perrelet and Only Watch logos.
The box also includes an additional light blue rubber strap and a fastening tool.
