Inspired by a fifties timepiece, the Mido Multifort Powerwind is a tribute to the Swiss brand’s long history of watchmaking expertise.
Mido’s Powerwind movement was first produced in 1954 and represented a revolution in reliability and accuracy. In fact, its automatic portion only required seven components – instead of 16.
Inspired by this historic creation, the Multifort Powerwind houses the excellent Calibre 80, which offers formidable accuracy thanks to its Nivachron™ balance-spring and power reserve of up to 80 hours.
The composition of the Multifort Powerwind includes several nods to Mido’s historic designs. The dial, which features the brand’s vintage logo, has a deep blue sunray finish that contrasts with the gleaming hands and indexes and large yellow numerals.
The main display elements feature green-emission Super-LumiNova® to ensure the information remains completely readable in the dark.
The surfaces of the stainless steel case alternate shiny polished and satin finishes, while its screw-down case back ensures water resistance of up to 5 bar (50 m/165 ft). The lugs of the case, with a shape inspired by vintage pieces from Mido’s heritage, extend to a satin-finished bracelet with polished central links and sides and a three-blade folding clasp.
The transparent case back offers the view of the finely decorated gears of the Calibre 80 with an oscillating weight decorated with Côtes de Genève and engraved with the Mido logo.
Mido is also presenting a unique version that is entirely coated with a yellow gold-coloured PVD treatment for those who want a confident and radiant look.
