OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing

Swiss luxury watch brand OMEGA debuts its latest innovation, the Spirate™ System, with the new Speedmaster Super Racing automatic chronograph.

OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing

Developed in-house, the Spirate™ System is comprised of an innovative new patent-pending spiral that allows for ultra-fine rate adjustments.

Omega Spirate™ System

Each spiral is made from a silicon wafer, thanks to an internal manufacturing process called DRIE (Deep Reactive Ion Etching). With this mechanism, an impressive precision of 0/+2 seconds a day can be achieved.

It has a totally new Si14 balance spring which allows the watchmaker to act on the stiffness of the hairspring’s attachment point through an eccentric adjustment mechanism located on the balance bridge.

OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing

Announced this year, the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing is the first timepiece to be endowed with the fine-tune Spirate™ System. This 44.25 mm diameter stainless steel watch offers a clear view of the new mechanism through the sapphire crystal caseback.

The black dial is encircled with a racing style minute-track and a black ceramic bezel ring with the famous tachymeter scale in new yellow “grand feu” enamel. This bold yellow shade, featured on the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra >15’000 GAUSS of 2013, is also used on the gradient chronograph hand and striped small seconds hand at 9 o’clock.

The watch’s 60 minute/12 hour recorder, directly opposite at 3 o’clock, also serves as a second time zone. The honeycomb pattern of the dial references a concept timepiece on display at OMEGA Museum which survived extreme magnetic fields of 160,000 GAUSS.

Powering this revolutionary wristwatch is the self-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9920 calibre, certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). Proof of this certification is provided by a distinctive red METAS card, which in this case includes confirmation of the 0/+2 seconds a day precision made possible by the Spirate™ System.

Omega CoAxial 9920 Calibre

The first movement in the world to feature the patent-pending OMEGA Spirate™ System, the CoAxial 9920 calibre incorporates a self-winding chronograph with column wheel mechanism. Visible through the exhibition case-back, it boasts a rhodium plated finish with Geneva waves in arabesque. The power reserve is approximately 60 hours.

The diamond-polished and bevelled black arrowhead indexes feature a new and exclusive Super-LumiNova with yellow glow. This colour code extends to the Speedmaster and Super Racing wording on the dial.

At 6 o’clock there’s a stylish and regular reminder of the >15’000 GAUSS 10 year anniversary: a “10” in Speedmaster logo font, which appears once a month in the watch’s date window.

OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing

The new Omega Speedmaster Super Racing comes with a stainless steel bracelet featuring a fold-over butterfly clasp. The brand is also offering an additional NATO strap in recycled nylon with black and yellow stripes, inspired by the distinctive colour code of the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15’000 GAUSS watch.

OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing Box

Each Speedmaster Super Racing watch will be provided with a honeycomb pattern Speedmaster watch box in black with yellow stitching. The special presentation box includes the recycled nylon NATO strap and a strap changing tool.

The approximate retail price of the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing watch is $11,000.
